RCCG does. As a matter of fact, a new session is commencing on the 14th of this month. I was asked to nominate one of my youths and I did. There are many churches like that, just that most don't like tooting their horns.

Penssuwa: Thats a very nice one. Its so pathetic how peeps rate the duo's well established career with one track just because it doesnt suit their noisy beat oriented ears. Funny enough, those bashing the brothers would still be the first to buy their album.
Ironic, isn't it? I believe we should break from the terrible norm of noise making to doing songs that appeal to the ears. It is indeed pathetic.

dj187: Thanks bro for sharing this, the problem with we Nigerians is dat we don't appreciate anything from our own. We are always first to criticise and condemn even before our fellow Africans do, to me this just not fair.

And if you want to see the mind of a typical Nigerian just as it is, come to nairaland, after reading and analysing on peoples posts & comments for years now i have come to the conclusion of drawing a small circle around me because a typical Nigerian is pretentious, full of hate, backstabbing, hypocritical, duplicitous, cunning , lacks tolerance, prejudiced and bigoted by religion
You're very right with your assertion. In addition, lack of understanding is one of our problems. We have no idea about most things and we often claim we know, just because what we anticipate did not go our way.
Music/Radio › Rebuttal: On Psquare And Why They Will Never Break Into The US Market by Sanchez01(op): 7:43am On Sep 06, 2014
This opinion is solely that of Sanchez01 and none other.

This is a counter-thread to the one which grazed Front Page yesterday, the thread “On Psquare and why they will never break into the US market”. The OP tried making it an opinion but ended up shoving his opinion into people’s throat. Normally, as humans, I do not expect we sleep and put our heads in the same direction. So, here goes…

Psquare came at a time when sickly and boring love songs wore most music lovers out. Plantashun Boiz were the Westlife we had, only that they were three. The industry was literally hauled by Kennis Music and her stars and it almost seemed it would be like that for life, putting into consideration the array of stars that emanated from their stable. Eedris Abdulkareem, Azados, Kenny Saint Brown, Eddy Remedy, Baba Dee and Sound Sultan, Tony Tetuila, OJB Jezreel and so on. It was indeed Kennis’ moment, until the amazing duo stepped in.

First was their ‘Last Night’ album which featured bangers such as ‘Igbedu, Senorita, Last Night, Kolo’, etc. Their entrance, particularly in the video ‘Senorita’ turned people’s attention from the then monotonous industry. Psquare had indeed given Nigerians what no one had ever dreamt. I could remember well over a decade ago when I saw the ‘Senorita’ video, I knew right then that they were not coming to give us what we had been familiar with. It was obvious from day one that they had just one intention – to register their names on the lips of music lovers across the world.

As years went by, they dished mouth-watering videos to fans who were already bored of the unrepentant and undynamic artistes that had come before them. From their array of powerful dance steps, coupled with Jude ‘Engees’ ability of getting the perfect idea to making their videos worthwhile, to good choruses. Such was the effect of the ‘Rude Boys’ in the ‘Last Night, Get Squared, Get Squared Da Video’ album and videos.

They were criticized at some point that all they could was to sing on love’s lost, betrayal and party songs, and the criticisms did put them on their toes, one which caused them to give their fans something different. The brand ‘Psquare’ had become an international brand, largely within the African community and its virus did spread fast. Part of the criticism was that they had never recorded a reality song – songs that tackle and poke at the government of the day for mistreating the masses. Fans were fast becoming bored of seeing the twin do tasking dance steps in their colourful leather jackets, such is the case of a typical Nigerian fan ‘give us something different, else we turn away.’

Then in came the ‘Game Over’ album which saw the duo change totally from what they were known for. Albeit, the music world accepted them for whom they were. They had mature, from wearing nylon leather jackets to simple clothes, less Western influence on their songs and heart melting Igbo lines into their pop-highlife songs. Their transition was swift, accommodating and convenient as they soar through the ‘Danger’ to ‘The Invasion’ of 2011 which was riddled with countless hits and the feature if foreign acts such as Akon and Rick Ross. The album was simply too good to listen to as they laced it with dancehall songs to the most universal – love.

And just when people relaxed, thinking the twin were working on their next album, they held the world by the horn with their ‘Alingo’ dancehall single and their amazing ‘Personally’ tribute to the legendary Michael Jackson. A pause and then ‘Taste the Money’. One would have thought that they group would have split before now, as marital crisis rocked their blooming and ever growing fan base.

Meanwhile, artistes who came and dominated the big screen did not last long to remain at the top. Those who joined the twin along the way dropped after failing to give their audience something different from what they started with. 9ice, Styl-Plus, Sasha P, Tetuila, Azados, Faze, BlackFace, Durella, Ajasa, Wande Coal, Djinee, J-Martins, Da Trybesmen, which featured Eldee, to name but a few, all came, saw but never conquered. They were relegated to the background because they ran short of ideas. They were all buried in the pacing sands of time as they could not adapt to the fast changing demands of the society.

At this juncture, I must state that there are two types of music fans; ‘the beat fans’ and ‘the true lovers of music’. I grew up in a home where Jim Reeves, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, Jill Scott, Yanni the Jazz master, Baby Face among others, were played night and day; though I never enjoyed it from the start but I became a lover of meaningful songs rather than search out for the beat of a song, as most music lovers would be quick to point out as a flaw.

The latest Song from the twin sensation, ‘Ejeajo’, is a classic. The beat itself is from the 90s and one can easily relate the beat to several 80’s and 90s’ beats. Popularly found in ‘Kool and The Gang’s ‘Celebration’. It is very palpable that they have allowed their latest single sway to the direction of the 90’s; a good way of keeping themselves active and strong in the industry they helped publicized.

Songs belonging to this era are radio friendly, sensations to the ears and above all, groovy with the peaceful tempos. It is quite understandable that most people find the song alien and way different from what the duo had done in the past. Dynamism and thinking out of the box is the game, the plan and the selling point.

Of all modern artistes in Nigeria, only Tu-Face Idibia and Psquare have lasted longer than every other in the industry. The reason for this is not far-fetched; they have a way of adapting and bringing new game plans to the table, even when we think we have known all they have to offer. They broke into the international long before Dbanj's premature abortion with Good Music.

Conclusively, Psquare, though, has disappointed most of their ‘beat fans’ by giving them the abominable, it is worthy of note that fans who lived through the era of the Classics might have yet another chance to reminisce and relive the era they had once forgotten. Just like always, the Okoye brothers have given us something to keep our hands busy while they work on their newest album. And as unpredictable as always, the beat fans believe a major work as ‘ejeajo’ in a century riddled with nothing but noise, vulgarity, booze, wine and ladies, is nothing but a flop.

They have never performed a typical Nigerian way even when they tried to. The duo, are not only commanders of a modern African music industry; they have broken into a market beyond the shores of Africa long before now and we can only thank them, alongside Tu-Face for giving us something to believe in.

Romance › Re: What Are The Differences Between Dating, courtship And Bf/gf Relationship by Sanchez01(m): 9:55pm On Sep 05, 2014
The three are very different but often misused. I hope my explanation helps though:

Dating: The term "date" means "to have a romantic engagement with somebody". Hence, when people say they are "dating", they tend to mean that they are in a relationship but the word is awfully misapplied. A date involves outing and that someone says "sorry, I'm going out with someone", they think it to be dating as well, whereas it means they have a sound relationship which they are okay with. Therefore, it is wrong to describe our relationship or partner as 'someone we're dating'.

Boyfriend/Girlfriend: This best describes our relationship. The term 'boyfriend/girlfriend' means 'a man/lady with whom somebody has a romantic or sexual relationship'. The term is also considered to be the 'unofficial' term for courting.

Courtship: This term simply means the 'prelude to marriage'. The courtship period is the official term to describing the boyfriend/girlfriend relation. When someone courts, it means the person engages in a relationship shortly before marriage. Hence, the man is no longer regarded a boyfriend but a fiancé, and the girl is no longer a girlfriend but fiancée. And this process takes place before marriage, of course.

The BF/GF cum courtship thing starts before marriage. But the major thing is that one is considered to be more 'serious' than the other, and I'm sure you know which. The 'date' thing is way off. It has no similarity with the two; the only slight thing to note is that people who are courting and those in a romantic relationship, such as the BF and the GF thing can be said to 'date' when they have a romantic meeting somewhere. I do hope you understand.

Aminu Magari has been reinstated as President of the Nigeria Football Federation to bring the chief executive officers in charge of the country's football house to two on Thursday.

Maigari who returns for the third time since being sacked by a Jos High Court after the 2014 Fifa World Cup was reinstated by some FA chairmen and their secretaries at an extra-ordinary congress held at Bentley Hotel in Abuja.

The factional Congress said they were obeying the orders of Fifa for the reinstatement of the Aminu Maigari-led executive board of the NFF, Goal learnt.

Fifa in a statement published on its website on Wednesday asked for the NFF's leadership as composed at the 25 August 2014 be restored with immediate effect after issuing an order for the Chris Giwa-led Board to quit office on or before 8th September, 2014.

Fifa also directed the Maigari-led Board to take charge of drawing up a road-map for fresh election in a yet to announce convenient date.

"The NFF executive committee as it was composed on 25 August 2014, meaning under the presidency of Mr Aminu Maigari, should then convene a first extraordinary general assembly as soon as possible to elect the members of the electoral committees and a second extraordinary general assembly in order to proceed with the elections of the new NFF office-bearers,” part of the Fifa's statement read.

Maigari has said he would organise elections into the NFF in 2015.

Music/Radio › Opinion: Wizkid Vs Davido - Who Is Better? by Sanchez01(op): 8:19am On Sep 05, 2014

Lately on twitter & other social platforms, the undying & endless comparison of Starboy CEO, Ayo Wizkid Balogun & Co-owner; HKN records, David Davido Adeleke has become a huge topic. Well, this issue is not as complicated as fans make it seem, especially on twitter.

To my mind, what makes a successful recording artist? This is being ignored by many – fans, critics and enthusiasts alike – while making this comparison. If I were to critique I will use the following yardsticks as parameters for rating a successful artist, same being awards, the fan base, the number of hit records etc.

So lets attempt to compare based on these…:
Awards
Wizzy (Wizkid) as he is fondly called by fans, has been in the industry for 13years now, Huge! that’s big 13 years of consistency and such feat is no walk in the park, and all through these years he has bagged in all a total of 16 awards which includes:
i) 1BET award.
ii) 3Headies awards.
iii) 3 NEA
iv) 1MOBO
v) 1Channel O MVA
vi) 1Ghana music
vii) 2City people
viii) 2Dynamix awards.
ix) 1Future award.
x) 1 4stye TV MVA award &
and also nominations from NMVA; World music awards; MTV Africa music awards; MTV Europe music awards which in total sums to 49… Awards and Nominations.

Currently, he is CEO of his own famed Starboy Entertainment & also signed to Empire Mates Entertainment, Akon’s Konvict Muzik & Disturbing London, home to Tinie Tempah & Jessie J.

O.B.O. (Davido) surprisingly has been in the industry for 3 years and to be honest he is already doing well for himself. The songwriter, singer & producer has 17awards to his name he has:
i) 1BET award
ii) 2MTV Africa music awards
iii) 1KORA award
iv) 1NMVA award
v) 2Dynamix awards
vi) 1City people people
vii) 1Channel O people
viii) 4NEA awards
ix) 3Headies awards
x) 1Ghana music award
& surprisingly he has only 25 nominations that is too impressive for an artist….

Fan Base
Now this is a very difficult part between both artists, they both have die hard fans ready to do anything no matter how crazy. You can hardly see any of them anywhere both Nigeria or any part of Africa even some major places in the world without them being mobbed hardly.
The two of them can drop a song whenever and the response will be too massive both on air & off air, but recently, I think Davido’s fan base keeps increasing daily like every song he drops is like fuel to his already buzzing flame but some argue the reason is because of Wizkid’s delay of his 2nd album. I don’t see how this even relates, the Star Boy CEO dropped two singles recently and they didn’t do well, also he announced his collaborations with Rihanna & Chris Brown which will be dropping in the album, hopefully the Wizzy we used to know will be resurrected .

Hit Singles
Again another difficult talking point, the Starboy CEO has mad crazy singles to his name, which includes: holla at your boy, tease me, Azonto, jaiye jaiye, don’t dull, pakurumo, dance for me, caro, on top your matter etc . These songs at their release, some with his debut album: Superstar, released in 2011, were all big hit songs, club bangers & gained terrific airplay with good videos to match, I must also confess Wizkid’s superstar album is one of the best albums from Nigeria in contemporary times, every track on the album was a hit, I mean every track, superb!

While Davido has song extremely good songs too, not just good songs but some were anthems in the streets & the media for a long time, from back when, dami duro, skelewu, gobe, all of you, ekuro, aye, gbon gbon & recently tchelete (good life) were all huge songs/big anthems undeniably, but truth is Wizkid’s Superstar album was better than Davido’s O.B.O. album but then, Davido’s dami duro is undeniably bigger than any track Wizkid ever made . But irrespective Wizkid paved the way for him (Davido) who paved the way for others now…

So Who is the better and bigger artist?

Truth is, no one likes it. I have experienced scenarios that are similar to your ordeals. Normally these people don't enjoy it in any way. Although, I believe it has its own advantages but it's not something to pray for.

By the way, I'm on the opposite side, I don't look my age; I'm just a year above mid 20 but I consider it a blessing though. I'm not small, just that I look younger than my age. Sometimes, I get the sour treatment when people tend to judge me based on my look and I do nothing but smile. Sorry I commented though, the thread is meant for people 'who look older', not younger than their age. I hope I don't derail the thread.

Nigeria international and Villarreal forward Ikechukwu Uche has denied claims by coach Stephen Keshi that he demanded for apology before honoring an invitation to play for the Super Eagles.
Keshi on Wednesday revealed the pint-sized player was not invited to be part of the African Nations Cup preparatory team to play Congo and South Africa because he wanted to be begged.

"He was supposed to be part of the team that is presently in camp but he said we must beg him first to play for Nigeria because he was left out of some competitions but I can’t beg anyone to play for Nigeria, impossible. That’s why he is not here,” said Keshi in a press release by Super Eagles media officer Ben Alaiya.

Reacting to this accusation, the former Getafe player said he never demanded for any special treatment to play for his country.

"It's an honour to play for Nigeria. I don't expect to be begged or given special treatment. I'm available when/if considered for selection," Uche wrote via his Twitter handle.

Uche fell out with the ‘big boss’ during the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa and has let his snub since and has missed the Confederations Cup and 2014 Fifa World Cup in the process.

This is dilemma. Some ladies can be dramatic. You are married now, you have a life, a wife and a home! Why should this bother you? You never had something serious from the start and now she claims you left her to suffer?

Personally, I'd advise that you come out straight to her. This is a very sensitive situation. You might have loved her years ago but things have changed now and you must realize that. She is married, and so are you. Please stand firm, don't tell her you never had anything from the start, as this could make you sound cruel. Apologize even though you have done nothing, but please don't give in to her. I smell adultery here and sooner or later, it would happen if you run on this tempo. I'm sure you wouldn't want a married woman to ruin your home. Please cut all ties with her and move on.

I must say you are way too young to start anything. But still, that you get attention from seeing male folks is more alarming. According to you, you are from a Christian home but it seems you have been insighted at a younger age, probably by the people around you or the things you watch. It's a long way down, Dear and I'll suggest you do things that would keep your mind off from them, rather than brood on what is not.

Coming from a Christian home, I'm sure you understand that Sodomy is a No No... I'll suggest you prepare your mind and stay strong mentally, lest you are given to thoughts of experimenting it. You honestly don't want to live you life claiming it is some sickly human rights. The opposite sex's body is all that a man needs to glow of satisfaction and contentment.

It is not in my place to initiate, discourage or encourage you but I'd like you to think deep down and ask yourself if He designed you for another male. Well, the answer, I'm sure you know.

I reiterate, you are young to nurture a relation now. Hold a little longer, learn to be given to reasoning and judgement than impulse and excitement.

And yes, God did destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. That devil is bringing it up all over again is because he doesn't want to go down alone.

PS: From an older brother.

There seems to be a lot of problems here, you approached her the first tine you daw her because she was 'wooable'? Honestly, I don't subscribe to your approach. This is the 21st Century, for crying out loud. Must every lady we meet somehow be our lady without conscious effort to study them? No!

With that being noted, I believe you should break apart. The whole thing was messy from the get-go. The foundation was bad and it is obvious the two of you cannot stop breaking each other. She cheated, I believe she should be forgiven and overlooked but I still recommend that you still part ways, not because she cheated though. Your heart has drifted far away and your stay with her is nothing but a pity party. The worst kind of love is that which is born out of pity. Since she is irritating you at this point, kindly let her go.

Truth is, the more you try to stay, the greater the complications. It is one thing if you make attempts to reignite your love, it is another to stay out of pity. You are the guy, find a way to draw the curtains, diplomatically. There are better ways to skin a cat without torturing it.

prof800: Sir, you are right about the genres but you should note that these days, 'films' are usually a combination of genres. e.g a movie could be a combination of Crime, action, mystery and thriller.

And you'll have to answer the question yourself. "Which of those genres do we have?"
But ensure to think once, then stop and think again the second time. grin grin grin grin

We are seeing ghosts ooo. grin grin grin grin grin
You are right, most movies allow for fusion. There are 'pure' movies that tend to maintain a genre from the beginning to the end, and there are 'fused' movies which allow for the combination of one or more genre. What we do in Nigeria is strictly Family, Drama and Romance, all fused into one, most times.

I'm no love doctor but a lady tells you 'time will tell', then it means two things are involved:

1. She needs the time to really make her judgement on the kind of person you are. More like saying she needs to study you.

2. This could be tricky. Some ladies have ways telling a guy to stay on the line or simply 'queue'. Hence, she needs time to figure out where you belong. This is dangerous though, as you could be zoned. She would act all nice and friendly, whereas she knows the reason she is keeping you is to make things happen quickly, particularly when she needs a shoulder. And you, you will be lovely guy she expects because you believe she will tell you what you need to hear, sooner or later. But since she has told you time will tell, I suggest you just be you, don't put your heart into it much, do not pressure her to give you a response and most importantly, DO NOT put your eggs in one basket, if you know what I mean.

To tell you the truth, it seems your lady is cultured. Although I wouldn't enjoy it if my girlfriend refer to me as 'sir', but a noticeable thing here is that her respect for you seems high, very high if you ask me and she is somewhat demonstrating a home with the two of you in it.

While the first point has been made, so ladies refer to their man as 'sir' to make light a serious issue. Either way, I believe it is nothing too serious. To some ladies, it is normal but rare among them. She repects you deeply.
