Christianity Etc › Re: Christian Relationships & Signs by Sanchez01(m): 11:18am On Aug 23, 2014
Dearie, 'he who FINDS a wife findeth a good thing...'. Yes, you can ask God to show who the best is. Note, I did not say the special or only. You see, there are thousand and one persons to us; we obtain favour when we find one.

Asking for a sign could be dangerous. It is called FLEECING. Though most Christians fleece while believing God is at work. Nothing is wrong in praying to God for a partner and asking Him to give you someone that best compliment you. Just that most umarried people walk around with pride and assurance, believing they have heard from God as touching their partner, without knowing they fleeced and often times allow their heart to judge instead of God. I have several scenarios around me and I have come to discover that majority of those who claim to have got the green light in their relationship never heard from God. They simply fleeced the situation.
Christianity Etc › Re: Was Jesus Christ Married In His Stay On Earth?? by Sanchez01(m): 9:19pm On Aug 22, 2014
Christ was never married. He had limited tight right from the time of His birth to when He gave up on the cross. Although devilish propagandas of how Christ and Mary had something together had been spread from time immemorial. He was God in flesh, living like men would was never His goal; He came with one soul purpose in mind; to bridge the gap between the Godhead and men. He never considered Mary as we would think of our mothers. Christ was never married, some of the Apostles even followed after Him. His reason for this, I'm sure is not to say marriage is bad, rather, He, being God and made alive in the flesh was never given to the lusts of men and of this vile world.

Crocz: Did I dispute Jesus is christ?...what I said is that the sons of mithras call their god christ too!

And honouring a pagan day by making people rejoice in it as Jesus birthday, IMO, is absolutely wrong!..go to church and see the kind of songs they sing on such day, like "Today he's born" and so on..again, the symbols of chariot, Santa clause attire and Jesus holding a lamb on his shoulders are pagan too....and I'm finding it difficult to strike a balance between this two:
Is Jesus son of God?..or
Is Jesus God?
First thing first: The 'songs' that are rendered on Christmas day are called CAROLS. Secondly, it is quite obvious you don't know much about Mithras. Lemme help you: Mithras is Zoroastrian tradition and Persian mythology; what you claim it carries is not a Lamb but a BULL, which he is said to have slain before FERTILIZING the world with its blood. Mithras was never described as christ. Mithras was Persian's god of the sun/light, just like Aton is to Egypt. He was never called Christ because Mithras was only a myth.

The word Christmas entered the English language around 1050 as the Old English Phrase "Christes Maesse" meaning "Festival of Christ"

Although the Gospels describe Jesus's birth in detail, they never mention the date, so historians do not know on what date he was born. The Roman Catholic church chose December 25 as the day of the Feast of the Nativity in order to give Christian meaning to existing pagan rituals. The church replaced festivities honouring the birth of Mithra with festivities to commemorate the birth of Jesus, whom the Bible calls the Light of the world. The Catholic church hoped to draw pagans into its relgion by allowing them to continue their revelry whil simultaneously honouring the birthday of Jesus.

Crocz: Sweet...so I can decide to do my own Xmas tomorrow then?...so what about the chariot, the lamb eh?...and do you know that the "new testament" went under sever review and most even agreed that it has been doctored!...could be by the same set of people who lead men astray
Sure, you can, as long as you put the name CHRISTmas under consideration. I reiterate; the season is beyond any other and is by far recognized by the said pagans who started it as a day in which Christians remember their Lord and Saviour. About the New Testatment being doctored, I'd recommend that you get your facts and evidences or you put your hearsays aside.
Christianity Etc › Re: Dark Practices In Christian-dom? by Sanchez01(m): 9:45pm On Aug 21, 2014
Crocz: And how are u so sure, that line was not rephrased by the same set of people who made people practice those dark things?

Even the sons of mithras called their god, christ too...just saying
The line was never rephrased. Most importantly, your so-called sons of mithra were never regarded as Christ. There were several Jesus, of which Bar-jesus was one; none other carried the name 'Christ'. Yeshua, as Jesus is called in the Hebrew tongue, is the ONLY one ever to carry the name 'Christ'.

And about the Christmas date; true, most still argue that it was modelled after the pagan date of the worship of their god. For most Christians all over the world and even to non-Christians, December 25 holds a memory; not because we look at the sun or the moon to mark the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ but because we understand that God demonstrated the greatest love of all by giving to man-kind His only begotten. Thus, we Christians honour this day, they do it with the teachings of Christ and the great example God laid before man; to rejoice, give and share selflessly.

Christianity Etc › Re: 13 Differences Between The Bible And The Qur'an by Sanchez01(m): 10:49am On Aug 21, 2014
Though the differences are clearly noted by the OP, I believe highlighting them for people to know is not the issue. The Bible makes this clear.
1 John 4 (New King James Version (NKJV))

4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that[a] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

Thank you sir. I'm honoured smiley
Christianity Etc › Re: 20..adam And Eve Questions Pastors Cant Answer by Sanchez01(m): 10:18am On Aug 19, 2014
All of us hav had question on the tale of Adam and Eve sin recorded in the bible.
While majorityburied their questions in their heart, few were bold to ask question. The answers recieved created more questions than answers.
1
WHAT LANGUAGE DID ADAM,GOD,EVE AND SERPENT SPEAK?
Overtime, Hebrew was the spoken language. How this came to be, God understands better but God was described as "God of the Hebrews". Remember that the children of Adam (Cain, Abel and SETH), particularly Seth became the father that passed on the baton to his children, grandchildren and great-grand children.

2
WHO CREATED THE FORBIDDEN TREE AND WHY?
God created the tree and he made it known that man should not eat from it. The implication of the whole is that when God makes certain provision, he gives instruction which makes us restricted and prevents abuse. For example, just like the tree, God created the palm tree but there is a part of the tree which is forbidden for TRUE believers, which is the water in the tree - palm wine.

3
WHY WASNT THE TREE LOCATED SOMEWHERE BEYOND ADAM REACH
The Garden was where the whole thing started. Every plant, tree and fruit was first grown in the garden.

4
IF GOD HADNT GIVEN ANY INSTRUCTION, PERHAPS, ADAM AND EVE MAY NOT HAVE LOCATED THE FRUIT
Wrong. Adam and Eve did not go their on their own accord. They were led by the serpent called Lucifer.

5
HOW DID THE DEVVIL ENTER THE PICTURE FROM CREATION TO FIRST SIN?

Though Genesis is the beginning of the account of creation, it was never the beginning. Lucifer had long been cast into the darkness of the formless world before the creation of time. For you to know, John 1 precedes Genesis.

6
GOD KNEW OF DEVIL EXISTENCE,Y DIDNT HE PROTECT ADAM AND EVE
God's plan was for man to walk by revelation; He protects His own but never spoon feed them as babies. Similarly, God allowed the devil to have his way with Job but not to take his life.

7
WHERE WAS GOD WHILE DEVIL TEMTED MAN. BUSY? THAT HE COULDNT HEAR THE CONERSATION OR WATCHING WITHOUT INTERFERING
God was never busy. Adam and Eve were fragile but God had a special kind of fellowship with him. The Bible recorded that God would only come to fellowship with Adam "In the cool of the day", which meant in the evening. God must have heard the conversation between Adam and Eve but just like Job he allowed the devil to have his way, while Adam and Eve played the blame game.

8
EDEN SHOULD BE A PERFECT GARDEN OF HAPPINESS.WHY DID GOD PUT FORBIDDEN FRUIT IN A PERFECT GARDEN
The tree had long been there before the creation of Adam. The garden was indeed perfect. Adam's touch of the tree destroyed God's plans.
9
WAS THE DEVIL TOTALLY LYING OR SPEAKING SOME TRUTH ?
The father of lies has no iota of truth in him. When he said they will not die and God meant otherwise, they indeed died - spiritually. The gap between man and God widened as man disobeyed. Lucifer lied.

10
EVE ATE THE FRUIT,SHE DIDNT REALISE SHE WAS NAKED INSTANTLY, UNTIL ADAM HAD EATING THE FOOD B4 BOTH AUTOMATICALLY BECAME NAKED...HOW POSSIBLE?
Wrong again, Eve knew but just like Adam, she did not speak of her unclothedness. Adam was forced to speak up when God asked him where he was.

11
CLOTHING CAME AFTER SIN, SO WE SHOULD ALL BE NAKED THE MOMEN WE CONFES OUR SINS
Funny, our eyes are opened. Man had another kind of knowledge the moment he tampered with the tree. In a way, we carry the adamic nature.

12
Y DID GOD ASK ADAM AND EVE QUESTIONS AS IF HE DIDNT KNOW THE ANSWER
God knew from the outset. He is all-knowing. Put it this way, God wanted to illicit responses from Adam and not only did he fail, he moved the blame on God by saying that the 'woman you gave to me...'

13
GOD SEES THE FUTURE..HE MUST HAVE KNOWN THEY WOULD SIN, YET HE PUNNISHED THEM FOR SINNING
I honestly don't know if this is a statement or a question.

14
GOD PUNNISHED WEAK EVE,VULNURABLE ADAM AND HELPLESS SNAKE WHILE DEVIL WAS LEFT UNPUNNISHED-FAIR?
God hates disobedience. He had warned them before about not taking from the tree. Thank God you know God punished them. He forgave them but punished them for their act. Eve was never weak, she led Adam to sin. She had some convincing power just like every woman on their wife today. She was never weak. Adam was never helpless, he had a choice; to obey or to disobey God. Stop making it look like he had no choice. The creature was available for the devil's use. God had already condemned the devil before then. Punishing what you had already condemned is not in any way meaningful.

15
ADAM UNBORN CHILDREN ALSO PUNNISHED-FAIR?
Adam's descendants were punished for the sin of their father. He pronounced this on Adam and not his children. His children, particularly Cain exhibited the result of the tree by showing the other kind of knowledge he had.

16
IF ADAM AND EVE HADNT SINNED, THERE WOULD BE NO STORY, NO BIBLE,....WAS ..ADAM AND EVE SIN PREPLANNED?
I understand your problem is the Bible? God had different plans for Adam but he took another route, far from what God had for him. Satan made sure God's plan for Adam would not stand and Adam assisted the devil in making this happen.

17
WAS GOD PARTIALLY OR INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SIN OF ADAM
My questions to you: Did God instruct them to eat from the tree? Was Adam forced to eat of the tree? Was it God's plan for Adam to eat from the tree?

18
WHO WITHNESSED THE DRAMA AND NARRATED IT.
Well, the Godhead and the other two; Jesus and the Holy Spirit were around. That it was documented meant that Adam must have passed it to his children and his children to theirs, and so on.

19
DID THE ADAM AND EVE STORY ACTUALLY HAPPEN OR NOT.
Well, I think you have answered this question so far. If it did not happen, how come you are asking?
20
SHOULD IT BE TAKEN LITERALLY OR AS DOES IT HAVE ANOTHER MEANING?? DOES THE FRUIT ACTUALLY SYMBOLIZE SOMETHING ELSE?
This is by far the most brilliant question you asked smiley smiley. God indeed had plans that Adam and Eve would multiply, hence, the idea of sex would come sooner or later. God raised the first institution of marriage between them and created the woman for the man. The fruit must have been a fruit fruit, such that it must have been a very powerful tree which was powerful enough to corrupt the complete man.

Nothing prevents you from asking the Holy Spirit to reveal what you need to know to you.

Christianity Etc › Re: Please Help Him Interpret These 4 Dreams by Sanchez01(m): 9:19am On Aug 19, 2014
Please in need someone who could interpret the four dreams for me. All in the same night

first.
Someone was involved in an accident and i was asked to go and see what goin on. As got closer to the scene the man gave up.
Later when the person was being taken away buy some guy i found myself walking in the same road with them. but as we were going i quickly took another direction. And woke up
Depending on what you call it; I believe your dreams are pretty serious. I recommend that you pray real hard and draw closer to God. About the route you took, you somewhat managed to move off from it.
Meaning: You might be roped on what does not concern you and it could in turn lead you into trouble. Be careful about the people you associate with, where you go, the things you dabble into and how you interfere in people's affairs. The death may not be death per-say; but based on the route and the death of another. You might be headed for something really unpleasant.

Second
myself and three other guy went somewhere like a camp, as were there lying down, one of the other three guys died
Next thing was that the remaining two guys and i were returning home from the place on an okada and we stopped at buker where one of the two guys wanted to eat and i came down with him we asked him if he had money on him, and said he is going to eat with the money with and bury the dead guy with the balance.
They guy on the bike drove off and i discovered that i was not having enough money to eat, i decided to take a bus and go home. And woke up
This is similar to your first. You have some people around you which could lead you into trouble. Your time, resources and energy will be spent on something you did not do. You will be held accountable for a crime you did not commit, save that you come out from among them.

Third
i found myself seating alone in a class and the teacher asked me to go and call the others, as i went down stairs to call them. They refuse to follow me because they where for jamb class.
I now realised that the lecture was for jambits afterall and i angrily left the place. And woke up
Again, like the first and second, you are in the wrong place, which could spell trouble for you. You seriously have to check yourself and the places you go.

fourth
PHCN restored power and the metre started to spark fire and i rushed to the place to remove the fuse, and the fire started burning into the ceiling. As i was about to shout "WATER" the fire went off. And woke up
Water conducts electricity; your approach to serving a solution to the issue was wrong. Although it was a dream, you must be wary of the way you treat issues, particularly the ones that concern anger and outrage. That the fire went off was not because you shouted water. You must learn to keep your temper under check, irrespective of who is right and who is wrong.

https://www.facebook.com/PastorEAAdeboye?fref=ts

and I know from a pastor who belong to his church that he says nothing!

So why he didnot fly to liberia because he make the 100 fasting and he told his ministers that all who make this must have no fear about ebola so he can fly with his private jet to this country.
Now I understand. You sure have issues with him. It is of no use trying to convince you.

Honestly, I tried real hard to comprehend what you posted but I couldn't. However, the Facebook thing you mentioned; I would like to correct that notion. Pastor E.A. Adeboye DOES NOT and IS NOT on Facebook. He made this known at the Redemption Camp that NO ONE should send money to him via Facebook because he does not use any social media personally and he claimed he never instructed anyone to use his account on his behalf. With that being said, the person managing or using his name on Facebook only does so with the intent to keep everyone abreast. And about the fast, sorry, it was made known to RCCG members only. Ministers and Pastorates took it with all sincerity. Maybe Ebola is global, maybe not, but so far, its calamity has told on Nigeria, Spain and lots of African Countries.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did Our 'men Of God' Fail To Predict The Outbreak Of Ebola? by Sanchez01(m): 5:32pm On Aug 14, 2014
@OP, quite sadly, Pastor E.A Adeboye said something about a Global outbreak and he also mentioned new scientific discoveries; this were some of the things that propelled the 100days fast which started on the 2nd of Jan to somewhere in April. It was not pronounced as part of the 2014 prophecies because the fast was announced within Parishes, Zones, Provinces and at Regional levels. I could remember that something was mentioned about something that would serve as a disaster for many save that we fasted and stand in gap for others.

I detest them! There is something most people don't understand about those "amen" thing; those behind it are not pastors, neither are they the celebrities they claim they are. They only hide under the canopies of well cooked up stories and stir fear in people by illiciting responses which are largely "amen" from them. I pray to God in my own way. I see no reason why someone would curse for me to say 'amen' and then expect such to work. They are shams.

Your mum is not brainwashed. She is only hanging on to the truth, even though she heard it from someone you think is a fraudster. Truth is, when we pay tithes, they are used for the things of God; propagation of the Gospel, building and sustaining the church and those in need. It all depends on doctrine. However, ours is not to question what the money is used for. We are only required to pay 10 %, then it can be said we have fulfilled the Law. Malachi 3: 7-10 confirms this.

Christianity Etc › Re: If Death Is A Ticket To Heaven Why Are So Many Believers Scared Of Dying by Sanchez01(m): 10:25am On Aug 08, 2014
The number one thing I need to correct is that death is NOT the ticket to heaven. That being said, most times, Christians, or rather, believers are carried away by the things of the world, and as such, they not only forget but overlook the purpose for their being on earth. You see, everyone is called for a purpose; we are called to purpose, and it is very much possible for people to lose sight of what they have been called to do. Similarly, God wanted Adam and Eve to walk by revelation, they however missed it when they lost their sight on the purpose for which they were created. Unfortunately, some believers do not walk in the consciousness of the Holy Spirit, that explains why most of them know deep down that they might not make heaven should rapture take place. And about using seat belts et al, that one is a believer does not imply that you live a reckless life. However, when death lurks around the corner for a TRUE Christian, it is celebrated and taken in good light. Death is not the end of a BELIEVER; it is indeed the beginning of a glorious beginning with the Father of Light. Still, there is a purpose to which everyone was designed.

Christianity Etc › Re: Do Christians And Muslims Reall Serve The Same God??? by Sanchez01(m): 9:43am On Aug 06, 2014
Dsage1: You don't get it sir!

The last time I checked, I discovered that both religions was brought to you and I from the same continent (middle east). So, what the hell are you people arguing about/trying to differentiate?

According to the bible, Jesus is the only direct son of God, while Quran claimed Muhammad to be only true God sent messenger. From these two aforementioned scripture, one can easily deduce that there is likely one superior master/God to whom both Jesus and Muhammad are Son and messenger respectively.

Arguing about whether Christians and Muslims are serving the same God or difference God is pointless and a mere waste of precious time.
Quite right but you surely missed a lot of points...

Okay, then—do Muslims and Christians worship the same God?

First, all Christians don't worship the same God, and all Muslims don't worship the same God.

Fair enough.

But I think that Muslims and Christians who embrace the normative traditions of their faith refer to the same object, to the same Being, when they pray, when they worship, when they talk about God. The referent is the same.

The description of God is partly different. There are significant differences that are the subject of strenuous debates. Some differences really are foundational to the faith, like the doctrine of the Trinity. At the same time, there's this amazing overlap and similarity. We need to build on what is similar rather than simply bemoan what's different.

What are the most striking similarities between the way Muslims talk about Allah and the way Christians talk about God?

One that shouldn't be forgotten is that God is one in both traditions. That's very important. Two, God is merciful. Also, God is just. God's oneness, God's mercy, and God's justice are significant commonalities. We have different understandings of each of these, but the overlaps are really impressive.

Some theologians argue that when Christians and Muslims say "God is one," they mean fundamentally different things, since for the Christian, God is a Trinity.

I would respond by asking, "Do Christians and Jews worship different gods?" And I would hope the response would be, "No. Jews and Christians worship the same God. They just understand God in a different way—Christians in a Trinitarian way, and Jews not."

Some Jews and Muslims accuse Christians of being idolatrous for believing in the Trinity. My response to both groups is that they fundamentally misunderstand the Christian understanding of the Trinity. It's not that we worship three distinct entities who sit on three thrones next to each other; we worship one undivided, divine being who comes to us in three persons.

If somebody postulates the existence of more than one god, I would have to say we don't worship the same god. If somebody says that God is basically one with the world, I would also have to say we don't worship the same god. What binds Muslims and Christians, and what is central to my argument, is that God is one, that God is distinct from the world, and that the one God has created everything that is not God. There is a radical divide between creature and creator. This is a fundamental monotheistic belief. Muslims, Christians, and Jews share that belief. Therefore, they believe in the same God. Polytheists and idolaters do not share that belief.

If Christians and Muslims worship the same God and understand his will as more or less the same—to love God and neighbor—are Islam and Christianity two equally worthy paths to salvation?

I can worship the same God and still not properly, adequately, fully relate to that God or understand who that God is and what God's ways with humanity are. Each of the faiths, Islam and Christianity, has a different way of understanding precisely what God demands and, more fundamentally, what God gives. And I think it's appropriate for each of the faiths—but especially for Christians, who are commanded to do so—to engage in witness, to point to the full reality of who God is and what Jesus Christ in particular has done for the salvation of humanity.

There is no Hebrew or Greek word used in the Bible that precisely refers to sex before marriage. The Bible undeniably condemns adultery and sexual immorality, but is sex before marriage considered sexually immoral? According to 1 Corinthians 7:2, “yes” is the clear answer: “But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.” In this verse, Paul states that marriage is the “cure” for sexual immorality. First Corinthians 7:2 is essentially saying that, because people cannot control themselves and so many are having immoral sex outside of marriage, people should get married. Then they can fulfill their passions in a moral way.

Since 1 Corinthians 7:2 clearly includes sex before marriage in the definition of sexual immorality, all of the Bible verses that condemn sexual immorality as being sinful also condemn sex before marriage as sinful. Sex before marriage is included in the biblical definition of sexual immorality. There are numerous Scriptures that declare sex before marriage to be a sin (Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:13, 18; 10:8; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 7). The Bible promotes complete abstinence before marriage. Sex between a husband and his wife is the only form of sexual relations of which God approves (Hebrews 13:4).

newken: Must you all follow your so called fathers in the lord taught you. Can't you take the time to read before jumping into conclusion.

Is Pre-marital sex the same as fornication? You are dead wrong. Give me the Bible verses that says pre-marital sex is sin and i will open your understanding. However, read through the thread before commenting.

Don't get it twisted. Sex is a beautiful thing when it is between two lovers. Potential couples.

You can only brand this heresy if you admit the Bible to be a Sham.......
What is premarital sex? It is simply sex before marriage.

What is fornication? Fornication is generally consensual sexual intercourse between two people not married to each other.

Hence, the two involves sexual relationship between people who are UNMARRIED and is considered immoral!

Hebrews 13:4 ESV :Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 ESV :For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 ESV :Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 7:8-9 ESV: To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

1 Corinthians 7:2 ESV: But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV: Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God

Sorry, your soul is not you. Your soul is the breath of God in you. In other words, your soul is the linker between God's Spirit and your spirit. Our inner man is known as our spirit. Hence, the inner us is the spirit man in us. When we die, the soul returns to God while the spirit is translocated to heaven, a place of eternal rest, or hell, a place of eternal damnation. The soul is not the inner us.

Oh! I guess that makes it more difficult. The only help he needs is himself; kindly tell him that if we all thread on his ideology, then NO ONE will be suited for us. We can never find that someone that will be on the exact wavelength as us. I recommend you tell him that love does not work out that way. If he is well lettered, then he should go for a well lettered person. As good as he might think he is, he has tons of faults, everyone does. If he banks on the bolded, then he might not find what he wants.

Christianity Etc › The Problem - What Is Wrong With The Islamic World? by Sanchez01(op): 9:09am On Aug 05, 2014
After 9/11, when thousands of American innocents were killed by Islamic extremists for no reason, the central question is not: "Why do they hate us?".
The central question is not: "What is wrong with American foreign policy?"

The central question is: What is wrong with the Islamic world, and how will it reform?

The basic problem is very clear. It is that millions of people in the Islamic world do not believe in free speech, freedom of religion, democracy, a secular state, free enterprise and human rights. Millions of Muslims also have a hatred for Israel and America that has no rational basis.

Who is our enemy?, by Steven Den Beste, has a hard time defining who exactly is the west's enemy, but correctly points out it is not just a small group of terrorists. Much of the Islamic world - and almost all of the Arab Islamic world - must change.

"This war will continue until the traditional crippled Arab culture is shattered. It won't end until they embrace reform or have it forced on them. Until a year ago, we were willing to be patient and let them embrace it slowly. Now we have no choice: we have to force them to reform because we cannot be safe until they do."

"what we have to do is to take the 14th century culture of our enemies and bring it into the 17th century. Once we've done that, then we can work on bringing them into the 21st century ... But they've got to accept their own failure, personally and nationally and culturally. That is the essential first step. They've got to accept that the cause of their failure is their own culture ... And they've got to accept that the only way to succeed is to change. That will be a difficult fight, and it's going to take decades. Along the way it's going to be necessary to remove many governments which come to power and yet again try to embrace the past"

The war will last decades: "This war will end when they change, but not before."
We (the west) don't want to do this. We would far prefer to let them stay in their own failed societies. Who on earth would volunteer for the job of reforming the Middle East? What a pain that after finally winning the Cold War, and entering what we hoped was a new era of peace and prosperity, the west now has to sign up for this endless exhausting job.
We don't want to do this. We (the west) have to do this. Because they threaten us. Because they will destroy one of our cities with nuclear weapons as soon as they get a chance. So we have to reform them. They have forced us to.
House of War captures how annoying it is that we have to deal with these people (the Islamists). It is almost embarrassing that these medieval savages are the future we have to deal with. He notes that despite having a centuries-out-of-date medieval philosophy, they do know how to fight a 21st century media war against soft democracies: "The future is armed to the teeth and is highly motivated, it is dispersed across an ever wider landscape, and it is not waiting for us to arrive: it has begun its relentless assault regardless, chanting the ancient slogans of religious bigotry and blood for a vengeful god. Unless we step into it and learn to fight the future war more effectively than our enemies, we have already lost."

If you want a 5 minute summary of what is wrong with the Islamic world, here it is.
Freedom House ranks countries' political freedoms and civil liberties as "Free", "Partly Free" and "Not Free".

Here is their 2013 ranking for the main belt of Islamic countries:

Green - "Free".
Yellow - "Partly Free".
Purple - "Not Free".

"Moderate" Islam - Opinion Polls in the Islamic world

Apologists for Islam say Islam means "peace" and the fundamentalist killers are a tiny minority. This is not true. Opinion polls show that they represent mainstream opinion in the Islamic world (large minority, and often majority):

Survey of Muslim world, Sept 2009
68 percent of Palestinian Muslims said suicide bombings of civilians were justifiable.
51 percent of Shiite Lebanese Muslims said suicide bombings of civilians were justifiable.
43 percent of Nigerian Muslims said suicide bombings of civilians were justifiable.
38 percent of all Lebanese Muslims said suicide bombings of civilians were justifiable.
54 percent of Nigerian Muslims expressed confidence in bin Laden to do the right thing.
52 percent of Palestinian Muslims expressed confidence in bin Laden to do the right thing.
28 percent of Jordanian Muslims expressed confidence in bin Laden to do the right thing.

thorpido: Big deal about the quran remaining the same(which is arguable according to history). The works of Shakespeare has also remained the same. Before the copy that you have was put together, there has been arguments about what was initially written(do your research).I hope you know Muhammed was illiterate and did not write himself.Others wrote,so your argument about the bible being written by men faults your own belief.
You also do not understand that God can use 'many' men for His works.
Finally, how come Muhammed was unspoken of by all the prophets and even Jesus never made mention of him,yet he(as claimed by him) is the greatest and last prophet? How come no book except the quran ever spoke of him?How can the 'last' prophet be unknown by other prophets either in dreams or visions? Doesn't seem right!

Please don't quote scriptures from the bible to me since you claim the bible is not true. Moreover, the scriptures you always quote as muslims never referred to Muhammed.Do a proper check before answering my question.
