safarigirl: then I'll divide em to Aba Nollywood and Cinema Nollywood.

And no, I haven't seen Sis Ibu, I have an apathy to all things tagged 'Ibu'
Funny and rightly said. The cinema Nollywood are the best things we have at the moment. Unfortunately, only about 4-5% of Nollywood movies are cinema bound. The remaining are the ones flooding the streets every Monday morning.

Christianity Etc › Re: What's The Difference Between A Gospel Minister And A Gospel Artist Or Singer? by Sanchez01(m): 11:15am On Sep 15, 2014
Some may argue the topic to be semantic or syntactic, i.e, mean the same thing while the meaning remains the same, just differences in structure.

A Gospel minister is someone who does his solely for God. Hence, engaging worship is the most important thing to such persons. His songs are preachy, true, and straight from the heart. His calling is not for monetary or personal gains, neither are they for personal or selfish reasons. His songs solely MINISTERS; entertainment is the last thing on his mind. Church choristers fall into this category.

Gospel artistes, on the other hand, were (mostly) Gospel ministers who sought to take themselves 'higher' or 'upgrade' themselves by merchandizing their ministrations. Thus, Gospel artistes have one thing in mind, to satisfy their audience by giving them a show that is worthwhile.
Hence, the presence of God does not really matter to these folks since most of their songs are secular songs that have been fused to sound religious. The Spirit of God rarely work with them as they believe intensive rehearsal would give them the best output.

My Experience: Being a Gospel Minister and a Psalmist, I had always wanted to learn from people I considered as my role models. I had always wanted to see how they sing LIVE, how they communicate with their instrumentalists and all... This did not happen until 2007 or 8, I finally stumbled upon Cece Winans, Donnie McClurkin and Kirk Franklin at a Live Concert in Lagos. Having watched them keenly, I was able to take and reject some things I noticed from their ministrations. One thing was left now; I needed to see my local role models live until the unexpected happened.

It was somewhere in 2009, I was in my fresher's year and it was announced that there would be a Gospel concert on a Friday in the school tagged: 'Campus Redefinition'. It was organizes by Bouqui and the concert witnessed many Gospel stars, among which Sammie Okposo, Lara George, Eben, Rooftop, etc were in attendance.
To cut the long story short, their dressings never interpreted what they sang. Eventually, the 'welu-welu' master's turn came. I was so excited because he was one of my local role models. The moment he came on stage, he started sing another version of Terry G's 'Pass me you Love'.
Geez! It was so depressing to see the man I had revered doing secular songs all in the name of praising God. I didn't wait for the concert to end before leaving.

Gospel artistes would never attend a programme save they are paid. To them, praising God is serious BUSINESS.

Lolz... Your friend's state got me laughing. I think you should tell her to change her status. It is not in any way immature since the whole thing collapsed. It's actually funny when a guy who considers you as a Girlfriend end up seeing your status show 'engaged' when he knows that he might not be proposing. Unfortunately, girls who do this mostly are those within the range of 18-23. God help our ladies sha.
Christianity Etc › Re: My Body Is Weak Bt D Spirit Is Willing..i NID URGENT HELP!!! by Sanchez01(m): 9:39am On Sep 13, 2014
Truth is, it is possible for you to hold a sensitive office in the fold, yet, still fall or give way to sin. Like someone asked above, have you truly surrendered your life to Christ? If yes, are you baptised in the Holy Ghost? If yes, what are the signs of your baptism? And if no, then you need to step up in pursuit of a life above mediocrity.

You don't do not fall into immorality except we plan, nurture and think of it. The moment you understand this, then answers starts coming. What do you do in your private/quiet time, I mean when you are alone? What are those things you think about when you are alone? And most importantly, who are those you move with?

Our minds are like a tree, when we refuse to let it engage, it stays still, different kinds of birds perch on it (the birds represents several thoughts) and when we engage it, it becomes hard for birds to perch on it. Seek the God-kind of fellowship, strive for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, do more of studying in your quiet time, and most importantly, make a decision never to fall into the sin again.

Mind you, I do not expect you to answer the questions in my post; not on this forum. Sit yourself, answer the questions and see where you are lagging.

#Shalom!

Lolz... I'm a he, for sure. I just hate the fact that he generalized the No. 7th. I'm soft and somewhat emotional, I guess that makes me more of a fan of Love songs, which Taylor Swift basically talks about in almost all her songs. The shoes? Well, maybe I don't make a fuss the way ladies go about theirscheesy but I definitely love them. I love shoes so well. So, does that make me a female:p?

There are several ways though; it's either you come out straight by letting it out in the course of a joke that you are not thinking of getting attached now or you just pretend and keep on mentioning one thing in your conversations; and tha is the fact that you guys are friends.

I would have asked you to simply avoid her but it hurts more, particularly when she wants it more, relationship, I mean.

In all, I suggest you sit her down and tell her you respect her and her person and you consider her a great friend. Tell her your girls's issues, that way, she'd also understand.
Romance › Re: Dont Marry Because Of Love.... Never by Sanchez01(m): 8:18am On Sep 12, 2014
OP, I'd have said you are right but the number one factor that gets a DECENT man attracted to a lady is love. Hence, the idea of a relationship rests on love.

However, the IDEA OF A LASTING RELATIONSHIP rests on understanding. Yes, Amos makes it clear and well defined but love is the basis of understanding itself. Take for example, when you meet a lady, you don't build understanding first hand, rather you seek to build the most important, which is love. It is when love has been established that other forms capable of sustaining a relationship come to be.

As a matter of fact, it is absolutely correct if one says that love breeds understanding between a man and a woman. While love is regarded as important, understanding is the live wire of any sane relationship such that without it, love in itself is a mirage.

Love truly wears out with time, but such is not the case with understanding.

No, it isn't.
It inspired albeit, if that makes it a rebuttal, fine smiley
It inspired... More like a come back? I'd still say it is a rebuttal, putting your title into consideration.

Now you know why it doesn't qualify as a rebuttal.
I meant to reach out to a certain category of people.
Female folks out there, who genuinely seek happiness but have been or close to being pressured out of it, by societal standards and expectations.
To reach out to people who were touched by the other thread?

That's Harsh and mean.
That said, I do not advocate the idea of "independent single woman"
Not harsh, Dear. Except one suffered or had a nasty childhood, no one desires a single life. We are designed to be gregarious in nature. That's who we are and no one can take that away.

And so should be reduced to "nothings", spoken and addressed in disdainful manners by "so called" family and friends?
No one is reducing someone to nothing; a man is a child to some parents and so also a lady. Should a family talk in disdain to their ward, then it means something is wrong somewhere.

That doesn't make it ideal, does it?
Wrong. It makes it ideal. We are attached and rooted with our families in this part of the world. We are cultured, and embedded into tradition which has overtime sustained and maintained the influence of westernization totally on us. We have a belief here, norms, rules, and ideologies in tackling every facet of life; which, to us, as Africans are ideal. What is not ideal is when someone brings an ideology contrary to what we have and yet question our beliefs. Mind you, I'm not referring to your belief here. Why our ideologies are accepted and endorsed is because we consider them ideal for us.

LoL......
You think I don't?
You see, therein lies the problem.
There's a mentality we need to change.
As a guy, as a lady, you do not need marriage to complete you (little wonder we're so husband-centric).
Am I against marriage, NO! who does that? huh

What I'm saying is that desperation has become the order of the day just so ladies can join the "elite few"
In pursuit of marriage (not happiness) ladies tend to loose ourselves.
Ask those who are really happy in their marriages, they weren't desperate.
They led their lives, they felt complete, they felt whole.
They understand what it means to love and be comfy with self (that's what attracts and keeps a man, all things being equal).
@the bolded, how many people would you tell that to? An average undergraduate in a Nigerian tertiary institution thinks of graduating, seek employment or create one and what next? The answer of course, is to settle down.

Marriage does not complete or compliment one, but would you successfully convince a partner that you shouldn't rush things just because you have some things you want to achieve before getting married, and then you know you are about hitting somewhere in your 30's? EVERY man wants a young woman, irrespective of how old he is. This is known all over the world, and not here alone. So, would you blame a lady who is fast approaching 30 to take things as they come? Please drop the mentality that those who get married did so out of desperation. This is untrue. Most marriages come to be because the couples found fulfillment in one another.

Can you give me, say five examples of women who achieved amazing feats, got married at their own time and achieved all the happiness in a marriage? The truth is, the so-called quintessential women in Nigeria had at one time given birth or experienced a failed marriage before creating a movement. You really have to understand a lot of things here.

If that's what you think, then I think you're a tad bit insensitive.
Of course it will get to people who are not mentally as prepared or haven't developed turtle shells for varying opinions on here.
Opinions are that important to people that a newspaper house allots full or half page to varying kinds (ask TheSun and Punch)
The vice chairman of The Sun Newspapers, Dimgba Igwe's (of blessed memory) opinion is what might have led to his untimely death.
Ask Ken Saro Wiwa too.
They all started from opinions..........
Opinions do influence people's thinking, some in a positive light, others in a negative light.
People carry life and death in their tongue, hands in this case.
We need to be careful with our words, we should learn to build others and not tear them down with our words.
A lot of people with varying issues visit this site daily.
Why allow what they see compound problems for them?

Heck the people I'm speaking for right now may not know me, but I'll stand for what is right even if I stand alone.
smiley
I am not tad insensitive. I didn't read the other guy's post twice because I felt nothing meaningful was mentioned. if you think about what people say about you, or the opinions they have, then you would be brought down before you take a step. By the people you speak for, you mean the female folks, right?

Here's a quote that will definitely help you if you want to become a trail blazer, that is:

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

I consider this a rebuttal to the one you read, unfortunately, I find the argument weak, a little too weak, I'd say. Your thread, though seem to serve as a bit of encouragement to females out there, still, it has failed to tackle the real issue.

No one loves a single, the earlier you understand it, the better. It is okay and maybe believable if a guy says so. I have friends who say they won't think of marriage until 15-20years from now. I'm talking about guys of around 25 years,on the average. And the reason is because they want to run around and explore before being tied down. The story is way different for ladies, at least, I have a bit of understanding, which is; ladies' don't have time on their neck as their male counterpart.

For me, why a single beautiful girl is single is entirely her business and is not for me or anyone else to puzzle out.
Her being single doesn’t make her less or being engaged make her more.
I say treat ladies with respect, out of the mind-set that they are not incomplete for whatever cause they are single.
Relieve them of the pressure of the lies that they are less without a man in their arms.
This is Africa, WE ARE BLACK AND OUR IDEOLOGY ABOUT MARRIAGE AND BEING SINGLE IS DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF THE WESTERN WORLD. Marriage, is the ultimate target for every lady in this part of the world. At least, they think so. True, why a lady is single is hers alone but will her parents think so? Her place of worship? Her friends? And even the society? We're superstitious and we hold marriage issues dear to our heart, particularly when it's on the part of the lady. Ladies are subjected to pressure on this part, particularly here, in Nigeria. To verify this, why do ladies feel uneasy when they hit 25? Why do they worry when all they get from guys are the 'boyfriend/girlfriend only zone'? You must understand these things, Dearie.

I never believed the post could get to a lady this much. It was only an opinion and I believe it shouldn't disturb anyone.
