Everybody's reality is different. If you live in Lagos and suddenly find yourself living somewhere in Gombe state, would life be the same for you? It's not about Canada, it's a function of where you are.

I live in the same Canada but I'm enjoying my life. I attend a Nigerian church Redeem, I belong to an association of Nigerians in the city. I attended countless number of parties, occassions, barbecues etc hosted by Nigerians this year. It has been all fun this year especially after covid disruptions. The naija community here is bubbling, no dull moment

If your friend lives in multi cultural areas where you have lots of Nigerians, I don't see how one can be lonely except the person wants to be lonely cos there are too many events that becomes difficult to keep up with.

If your friend lives in an area where he is the only black man, then it's wise to relocate to other areas. Even in Canada, people do move from one area to another, one city to another and even one province to another. Govt no use chain tie anybody yansh for one place.
Largely Canada is a lonely place.
You can't compare with 9ja in terms of sociality

Also you don't need four thousand dollars to visit Nigeria.

From nordic here people travel home with less than one thousand dollars.
Flight ticket is less than seven hundred dollars for some cheap airline and some guys travelled home with two to three hundred dollars in the pocket.

Even in some off period the lufthansa, klm etc are just little over three hundred dollars to travel home from nordic.
Canada is not Nordic or whatever that means. Cheapest flight ticket here is in 1700s

I believe someone like you don’t know what it means to suffer.maybe you got everything on the platform of gold or you have total support while growing up.

The 140,000 millions Nigerians in poverty if put in your shoes will not hesitate to take your place. People can not afford to eat even a square meal a day wtf are you talking about. You are in a place where you can go out and work for an hour and feed yourself. If 140,000 million plus Nigerians can even get an hour job to feed themselves they will be happier than they have never been. I guess you need to taste poverty then you can feel what I am saying
I was born in poverty
Total poverty
Alas I left Nigeria at 19 to Canada because of poverty
But I hate it here. Some of you need to travel and stfu!

Do you know, we have, heated cars with heated seats, heated steering wheel, all houses have electricity and they are heated, all offices are heated. We have heated jackets and heated blankets too.
You don’t need seven clothes, you need electric heated jacket.
Is she homeless?
She sound lazy and wants to sit at home dey chop money .
Weather stops you from doing nothing here.

Nigeria leaders are demons, we know, but I hate when people make it look life is worse here.

Trust me no matter how bad it is here, it is 1000 times better than Nigeria.

Buhari was right when he said Nigerians are lazy. Most of them want so easy life, no hard work, how is that possible?

If you come to Europe or America you go understand say Nigerians are just lazy looking for short cuts.

People work their ways to greatness here under this cold conditions she dey cry. Na upon all these harsh weather she dey cry, oyinbo still dey invent things, drugs, technology to make life easier for people like her.
Nigerians, lazy?
You must be high on smoke

I left Nigeria, a full blown adult..... Amongst the places I worked in was in South Sudan, way more extreme weather-wise coupled with the intense gun fighting, I didn't come online to lament because I was not kidnapped in Nigeria and dumped in South Sudan!

Have you asked, why the surge of YouTube videos on lamentations of relocating to the UK? They are so many things they can create content around that can still drive traffic to their YouTube channels, such as feeding way cheaper through Morrissons night clearance etc.
Dude just stfu he is right! You should know better ffs!

Davidoff2000:
I nearly ran mad when I came back for reasons I don't care to mention here now. It took me two years before I got a job and started getting back on my feet. Now, I am happier here than there.

Now lemme tell you about America.

America is good, depending on your level and state before you got there. If you were jobless, doing POS or selling rat poison in traffic, getting to America will seem like heaven for you and you cant stop thanking God you got there. If you were doing good, living the good life in Nigeria, and then relocated to America, America is only a slight upgrade. There is nothing an American can enjoy there, you wont enjoy here (with your money ofcourse).

If you were using iphone11 and you got bumped to iphone13, will you go thanking God and be freaked that you are now using iphone13? No. But if you were using techno or itel and then got gifted 1phone 13, its a whole new game altogether.

That's how it is-so it depends on your status on Nigeria really and then how you got there- your path to citizenship. If you go as a student on full tuition, you are good. If a spouse or parent won a green card and you go and you don't even have an idea how rent is paid, you are good too. You don't worry about insurance, taxes, etc etc. Someone has already made the sacrifice for you.

But if you go on a visa, overstay and hope to make good? You are on a long thing, and your experience will be one of stress and near bitterness. Your path to citizenship determines everything.

In America, someone must have made the sacrifice for you, for you to come and start enjoying the good life. If you are the one to make the sacrifice? Only your children will enjoy o, not you- you are the pathfinder, the sacrificial lamb- you won't enjoy your life- others would.

Las las..if you are earning good in Nigeria, you have a better life balance- money, family, social network, sense of community etc.

There, its a lonely society out there, so cold it can make you miserable in old age due to loneliness.

My two kobo
You said it all.
I didn't think there was a time in my life, I would ever wanna move back to Nigeria after coming to Canada as a young adult and figuring out life by myself. But 8yrs later, I am in a much better place, I have gotten tired of Canada and can't wait to move back home.
Nairaland GeneralRe: "Nothing is permanent in this world". by Sarang(f): 12:18am On Dec 19, 2022
This is one of the reason I am moving back home.
Moving overseas at a very young age took a lot from me. Chasing money. Chasing career. Chasing everything.

Now, I'm gonna move back home and start again to live. To truly live.

not looking down on anything chief. Ask questions baba. 2018 I received a statement from a company on a client that we did visa for. It was 98m (entitlement, salary + bonuses, etc) the dude has house in Canada and Uk. But e no Dey like travel. All him kids Dey out there.
The point is. Nigeria is wicked. You see they have indirectly reduced the pay scale to nothing in nigeria. That man in question no d gree travel.

I know Wetin I Dey talk. People Dey way Dey pocket 3.2m , 2.4m monthly. People Dey way Dey collect over 3-5m just for Christmas. Baba. Leave matter. Those old big boys companies still Dey low key. Forget Wetin we de see.

Presently. In nigeria, person go find worker they offer cheap salary. And today it's order of the day. The man Inquestion is a 25 year old (into the work) type.

Was just trying to say that people still Dey way Dey collect better pay.
Your stat was still wrong.
But you are right, people lots of people make over 3m overseas, some in naija sef. Still not a basis to look down on people's livelihood. Nah from 10k person dey take plan im life dey earn 5m. Life is a journey, let's respect that.

wetin be Vancouver? Smh. When dollar was 198. Ppl were making 70-100m a year. You Dey talk 700 usd.
And someone will read this nonsense you wrote now and believe it

If someone was earning 100m when dollar was 198 then they make $500k + a year.

The number of Nigerians in whatever country you assume who HONESTLY earn 500k plus a year is very rare. I DOUBT family physicians even earn that much. Or are you talking FRAUD?
Is fraud a basis for anything?!

It's the way you looked down on people's earning.
People like you have absolutely nothing
Like you have nada except a big mouth.

I just had to let him know because I’m a UI/UX Designer but I’m not working for the agency only contracts here and there and most times I see the documentation of the clients entire budget and how this greedy oga and one other guy will share 80% of the money and give the remaining to the unexposed developers, after my conversations, all the developers left him and he was dumbfounded.

Wow, this is nice. I think everyone should just know their worth and master the art of negotiation, cos I don't see it stopping anytime soon.

Yes I just started my Product Design journey majorly because I don't want to code. I started with the Google UX Certificate, and will continue learning further.

Why don't you want to relocate though, maybe not everyone fancies living outside the country.
Hey,
I just started product design as well

DevOPs is actually in high demand globally bro. Why limit yourself to doing just internship when you can practice professionally for many firms globally?

If you have Telegram or Telegram X installed on your phone, just search for "Remote Jobs", you will find a few groups for finding remote jobs from anywhere in the world.
Definitely some of the jobs you will find will need your skills, just go ahead and follow the application procedures.

Note: You may want to refine your resume to match standards used in the country you're applying to. For example, US firms won't take your resume seriously if it looks like those you use in Nigeria, they'll just laugh at you if you list crazy contents like religion, date of birth, local government area, marital status etc on your resume, nobody cares about all that in the countries I've been to, its only Nigeria that things are done weird. So, you may want to Google up sample resumes for the countries you're looking into.

Goodluck bro.

Awwwwww. May God bless you..I'm grateful. I think I'll fair well in data entry. Please, what does it entail? Do i need any online certificate to work as a data entry operator since I don't have any experience.
Nah. It is the easiest actually.
Join upwork and watch some youtube videos to send proposals. It’s just inputing data sometimes in an excel sheet. You get paid 4,5,6$ an hour on upwork to do this.. you can even get a full-time job

If you want a good paying career tho consider the others as well but yea you can start out with data entry. Customer support is also easy as well and funny enough has lots of job postings on the remote sites, try that too, refine your resume.
All the best!
