@toxnaija, captainus,ekonibajie
tox, i haven't been able to get the SR of the frequency. I am sorry the info is incomplete and hindering, but as i informed you in that mail I did blind scan on Hispasat 1D on the strong 4653x box. That very time there was a match which that station broadcast live and that feed appeared. Unlike strong 3650 box which give info on the channel frequency, pol, and SR together when one press' the info button on the remote control, strong 4653x only brings up the freq and pol. Double pressing on info brings up the APID, VPID and stuff like that. To get the symbol rate, I went back to menu, manual scan and selected NSS7 to see if that frequecy has appeared there amongst the list of frequencies, it wasn't there. I went back to Hispasat too and it wasn't there, I was frustrated how come the channel is showing here and I can't even find the frequency anywhere.

After installing a dish for a friend, I came home to connect my box and then the picture appeared in black and white. Infact, I did all i knew(probing), the problem( = probe + them) wasn't solved, so i reinstalled the patch and nothing happened. Finally, I decided to go the factory settings and executed it. There I lost everything, infact everything, my channel groupings, settings and the feed too.

So, what I have to do is wait till that TV station is to telecast a live match then I will do a blindscan to get them back again.

@captainus
visit satbeams.com at the home page, select satbeams from the options, you will see some marks (they are vertical thick black but forms a horiznotal line and have sat positions on top of them eg. 35 degrees) they reperesent the satellites.  To your left after 0 0 is 70 west Nilesat, click on it and 3 maps in small square boxes will appear beneath the marks. study it and you will see that one of the beams covers most of the southern part of Nigeria. So, that gives me a clue to think further.
I had a meeting with Salamander two days ago, he is a nice person with a can do it spirit and has a good taste for trials and reaserch. Through him, we had the information on an organization that is receiving nilesat. We also discursed to meet with you and know the way forward with satellites. He has a good contact regarding this sat issues.
Also, doing a close study at dishpointer, I realised it is not that accurate when it comes to their recommended dish sizes and stuff like that. I will give them 97% score on the co-ordinates figure they give out but the dish size.
My findings were also the satellite receivable in the southern part of Ghana, eg. Accra were the wellnigh same as that of Lagos or Abuja. Likewise Tamale and Kanduna. These are facts, and my opinions are based on them, nevetheless,I stand to be corrected.

I was at ur office yesteday arround 3:17pm but I met your absence and also tried your number but could not get through. No proms I will be there at another time.
I just found out from another installer who also assured me that there are people here who are receiving nilesat. I personally do't know any yet.
About your guy in Tema, I would love to have his contact or if you can find out from him if how much it will cost one to construct a 4m or 6m dish.
I have been pondering over the issue of getting an experimental dish i.e all of in this region will contribute some money to construct a 6m dish and get someone (one of us) who will give us space (only if he can afford) to mount this dish then launch a research smiley what do ou think Captainus?

@Enigma,Captainus,Olofofo and the respected all
I'm so much grateful for the informative platform of info from you all. I have downloaded them on my flash to feed on them "well well" smiley

Salamander,
I launched a hunt for a 4m dish locally constructed and came across one Lebanesse guy who manufactures fibre glass dish. The price as he quoted was quite high if not high - GH¢1400 for 3.6m, and that is kind of high a price for me. On the other hand, he told me of one Ghanaian who constructs dishes of all kind, locally, but he couldn't recollect the address of that man. So, at the moment, I am on hunt for that man too. Nevertheless, I am not giving up on the Nilesat bird. I am just an enthusiast for anything satellite (almost extreme hobbiest limited by space) cheesy

Captainus
I still don't give my mind to what these installers say "execpt with 4m dish". well, we can give it a try. But I don't forget that at beginning of Part 1 of this thread, our brothers in southern Nigeria had a similar encounter but later it was proven that 2.4m could do the job. Igwe Badaru did it and Pitodenz at one point tracked that same bird (Nilesat) with a 2.4m mesh dish whilst was completly ruled out, the possibility of a mesh dish getting Nilesat. I remember he quoted "it's tricky", yet he did it. See you on Friday.

Thanks for the contributions, comments and advice regarding the RADIX DT 100 patch issue. though, I have not found any results (it's been difficult), I am here to express my profound gratitude for the response to my call.

@Captainus,
I am just returning from the Strong Office. My mission - I was there to check on 2.4m solid pan dish, but to my dismay, they don't have it. The guys asked for the purpose for my request and i told them I want to track Nilesat. Then  they told me it's not possible in Ghana with 2.4m, b'cos with the 3.7m dish they are using, they are not able to receive all the signals. He explained further that Ghana falls in the tertiary part of the footprint so the signal is very week. They also said Nigeria and Benin falls under the secondary part of the footprint (u know the colored rings or circle on the map reflecting coverage area for reception). This, I am yet to find out.
Nevertheless, My hunt for that bird is still hot.

@Enigma, F_Marshal, Enitan, Jujukemist, Pitodenz, Badaru1 and all
What is the direction from which Nilesat signal is emanating or spreading. If Nilesat is in the West to Ghana and Nigeria, then, in my personal opinion the signal should be coming from the west. Infact, I want an answer to this in connection with what I have addressed to Captainus. I can't get that from lyngsat.
I count on you.

Please I need ur help. It's a patch for RADIX DT100 decoder, infact it can not open ETV. I have to consult u because my search was futile (I live behind a firewall, thus limiting my search) b'cos I browse with a corporate internet with restrictions. Just drop me a link, can strong patch do the job? can I do data transfer from my strong receiver to the Radix decoder?
Secondly, I have tried to use master code for strong and it never worked (the ones found at flysat) maybe it's just b'cos I don't know how to enter it correctly. I need that for educational purpose only, if you can't answer this publicly pls drop ur answer at signalbit@yahoo.com
counting on you.

there is this decoder RADIX DT100 which is FTA and cannot open ETV, which I understand the decoder must be patched before it can open ETV with 6x6x ( I know u understand) which patch do you think is good for this decoder, can I do data transfer i.e. from the traditional strong decoder to this RADIX decoder?
Or, do you know any patch for this decoder to ope ETV?

@toxnaija
the sports feed is not on w3a, it's on nss7 and discovered it when I blindscanned in HISPASAT 1CD

@salamander, captainus
where you dey for Accra Ghana? My next target is getting a 2.4m and above dish (solid pan) where possible, motorised, but that will be getting the items one at a time.

It's always my desire to make setup for w3a, but w4 is for DSTV with best (compared to others) nollywood movies for madam so, it's difficult to touch. On the other hand I would have w3a setup, but I have already nailed much on the facial board and my landlord can go wild. I am only considering to approach him to let some space I discovered so that I can setup either 1.8M or 2.4 to track nilesat.

it's ku band. Infact, for "space" reasons I use only 60cm dishes. I mounted two of 0.6m on one base. and the other hangs alone. NSS 7 ku west and 7/10 68.5 E are on one arm and W4 stands alone. I want to negotiate with my landlord if he would allow me some space - i discovered one.
But do you think 2.4m dish will do the job in this region? 2.4m is readily available in town but mesh is common.

with reference to what F_Marshal adviced on I will put my info this way - there is a sports feed on NSS 7,. I discovered this on wednesday and watched one of Ghana'a local leagues live. It means one can watch any live event being broadcast by that station.

@Badaru
I think I can give you the RS 232 cable it's common where I live drop ur address to signalbit@yahoo.com and I wll send it by post to you.

Hi Sat frequencies are expensive to rent so these guys overlay radio as well as TV.
Please use the Audio button on your remote and change the audio track from 'Fre' to 'Eng' or vice versa or simply toggle the APID - 0036/VPID - 0033
Alternatively you could toggle the audio stream from either left to right or stereo.
Simple.

Can anyone help with solution?

after LCF came back, I have lost it's sound - good video no sound.  TP 11602 v, SR -2221, VPID - 0033, APID - 0036, PPID - 0033

the same thing applies to Mise A Jour which shows Farnce24, I don't know if it's a replica frequency.  TP 11049 v SR - 30000,  VPID - 0171, APID - 0000, PPID - 8191

Equinox TV comes but with a different talking (though in French) which seems to be radio, so u will experience that what they say is not what u am hear. I don't know if it's an overlay from another frequency overshadowing the original sound that is supposed to come with the video.
TP 11606 v, SR - 3307, VPID 0101, APID - 0132, PPID - 8190

All have signal strength above 80%

you asked about which channels on nilesat show premiership. and i guess free. so, at the home page of www.flysat.com, on the left pane, scroll through to FTA SPORT TV. This link will take you to all channells showing free sports and on which bird they are (you will also see nilesat _http://www.flysat.com/tv-sport.php) click open for your search and find the info you want.

I hope this helps.

what kind of dish is been sold to you at that price 4m I guess, in town 2.4 is selling arround $400 - $500 so give that one a thought. I will try to extend help here, that is contact some guys here on your behalf. keep your fingers crossed.

@McAdeex
you can track NSS & with 60 cm dish refer to http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/nss7_waf.html. As for GTV, even in Accra , you experience "block noise" sometimes at 58% when the weather is cloudy (In my case, it is the first to go off when the weather is like going cloudy). Just try to skew the LNB until you're there where you have weekest signal for a channel and you are through.
The first time I tracked 7 at 22o W, RDV and GTV signals were very bad, so I climbed up and then did the LNB skew until the weakest signal shot up high and it positively affected all the others.
GTV,Direct 8,LC2,RDV, STV 1, STV 2,Equinox, FRance 24,TV5 Afric. Monde, Canal 2 International, Canal+ Horizon ( they are not always opend they come on for some hours say 3- 4 hrs and go scramble) and another channlel Monne something something in french, show the same thing as France 24 but without sound (I don't know if it is a rerplica)

@Nwabunnia
Yes, the freebies were back this morning before I left for work, I saw supper sports 5 and 7 also. They all are on the same frequency as Amag+ and NatGeo. Enjoy smiley
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by sathob(m): 11:37am On Aug 27, 2008
SOME FACTS TO CONSIDER ALL NEWBIES

1.The Common receive satellite transmission frequency for video is 3.7 - 4.2 GHz in the C-band aand 10.7 - 11.7GHz and 11.7 - 12.75GHz in the Ku band. This can easily help you distinguish on sites like lyngsat which, set of channels are c - band and Ku bands.

2.There exits two kinds of terminology for signal transmission - downlink and uplink signal. Downlink signal is the signal one receives from a satellite in the orbit (about 33000 miles in orbit) which require one to have a television,decoder and dish to view.  The uplink signal is that which the broadcasting stations transmit from the earth here to the satellite in the orbit, so that it can be spread over a wider area coverage for viewing.

3.Downlink signal from satellite upon reaching the earth is very weak and not only because of the distance travelled but also because of the spreading effect of the signal from the the point source to it's footprint. ( footprint in the laymans language is the signal coverage area)

4. A satellite dish acts as an amplifier or is an amplifier. An amplifier increases a signal from a low level to a higher level / a weeker level to a stronger level. An amplifier can be classified as active or passive. An exaapmle of an active amplifier is a transistor - it has an inherent ability to increase signal strength by itself. eg. if a transistor has a gain i.e" the inherent ability" of 20 and a signal of 2 volts is applied at its input, the output result becomes 40 volts (2x20). In the case of a satellite dish, this isn't so. So , the stellite dish is classified as a passive amplifier - the signal strength or amplification is proportional to the size of the dish. This is why a larger dish is required to receive satellite  that are weak. eg nilesat in southern Nigeria or Ghana.

5. To maximise dish gain, the dish must have no surface irregularities (like warps and dents) and must be properly installed.

CHOOSING A DISH FOR C - BAND

1.The bigger the dish the more signals it can gather and the waeker signal it can pull in. First consider and make a list of the satellite  you want receive and look at their footprints. visit www.lyngsat.com
If you have interest in receiving mulitple satellites then go get a c and Ku band compatible dish and LNB. Note that you can not watch the contents of pas 7/10 ku channels with a c-band LNB if those channels are not the c-band and vice versa so don't waste time tracking c-band with Ku LNB grin

If you are buying a mesh satellite dish , be sure  it  has the smaller diameter perforations or else a significant portion of Ku signals will pass "leak" through the dish. (In my personal opinion, the ignorance of this wins vote for solid pan dish). So, take note of the diameter of the perforations.

According to the source of this info,, buying fiber glass dish is not the best this time because that is early thecnolgy and will be guaranteed to have C-band only mesh embedded within.

For those who want to buy solid pan / metal dish, stand aside from it and look across it to be sure it's not warped - if so do not buy it regardless of the price. Note that in buying a new dish, a solid dish will not have a greater efficiency rating than a mesh dish. And considering mesh vs solid, at wind velocity of about 50mph, the two offer the same resistance to wind forces.

The deeper the the dish the lower the gain and the greater the rejection of unwanted singal (noise). The deeper the dish the more narrow will be it's acceptance of satellite signals and the less chance unwanted signals will enter the feed assembly (LNB). Choose shallow dishes, with high gain.

The deeper the dish and the larger the dish, the narrower is the central beam pattern. The effect  on installaiton is that the narrower a main beam then the more difficult it is to focus on the satellite while tuning a dish. this is appreciably noticeable when tracking Ku satellites and when using a larger dish - 3.0m above

The above information is subject to scrutiny by gurs of the forum and all corrections welcome. curled from various sites refred to on this forum. make the best you can out of this. more will be coming.

for the first time I hooked on to NSS 7 on Sunday to have a feel of their channels. Well I have not regreted changing from Intelsat 7/10 to NSS 7 even though I neither understand nor speak French.

between the hours of 15:00 and 2000 GMT I can watch canalsat Horizon and after that it goes scramble. Yesterday, I wanted to watch the premiership match b/n Man U and Portsmouth and RDV also went scramble just at the start of the match . I was glad to have the match telescast on STV2 and some local staitons.
