Having tried upgrade S/W Ver. 1.09p on 69x and with manual manipulations for the audio formats, thus, HE-AAC, AAC, MPEG4, Dolby Digital AC3 etc, there was no audio for switch. The story was different with S/W ver 225p on SRT 4910HD, Switch Audio was clear.

You can try that on your boxes (69x, 4900, 4910HDs) by going to Menu - Channels - Add Channels - then enter parameters (freq. APID,VPID,PPID) for the said channel then play around with the various audio formats listed above .

well, my opinion is that, instead of asking what is worth what, the attention of the moderator could be drawn to send this post to the appropriate thread, like the link above. the urgency of getting it may have necessitated that.

I want to inspire you that it is possible to get nilesat in Ghana. why? One member in Sunyani in Brong Ahafo tracked it but with weak signal, in the process of doing it, he called me for the strongest TP, which, I could only refer to what others in the house had (and for all u know the strongest TP from our brothers in Naija can be diferent from that of which you would use in Ghana). I was once at the strong office in Cantonments, the guys there said they get it but not stable - the signal gets stronger / weak at certain times of the day.

Try it again. check and try again - I strongly believe you can get it, your location is an advantage too. by the way what receiver are you doing the tracking with?

nss7 is at 22deg west and if u r in naija, it will be to the right from sirius 4, standing behind the dish; it is almost "back to back" with 36 deg E. you don't need to track sirius 4 b4 tracking, it's just a reference and once again if u r in naija 65cm should be ok at worst 90cm. but since u r in afghanistan i wonder the size of dish u will need to get this signal wink

a msge from free2view
Everybody wants free2View all 850 Million of you!

Unfortunately our systems were not able to sustain such an overwhelming demand, so we at free2View have taken the unprecedented step of shutting down all of our systems, so that we can engineer a robust technical platform that will serve everyone in all the countries that are in our footprint.

Please do not text us or try to use a Switchon Voucher as we have had to switch off the Signal with the OTA download, disabled the interface on the Internet and do the same to the mobile phone interface, due to the demand overloading our systems.

To those fortunate folks who have managed to download and activate your decoder, you will see that you have lost 3 Channels 100, 300 & 500 as these were the channels that triggered the OTA and downloaded the software.

We at free2View are pledged to give you 100's of free digital TV & radio channels with no monthly bills.

Thanks for the link but the patch is old and in use already by most of us,thanks man and keep it up. From what enitan said i think you might find it challenging to track nilesat from your location but all hope is not lost because guys in ghana did not do their home work very well,i still dont see why someone in ghana can not get nilesat while it can easily be gotten in western nigeria. Adewest might of help to you.
you see, Pito, this is exactly what I discussed with Salamander three days ago when I visited him. True one cannot use Ghana as the yardstick for the success of nailing nilesat. my reasons, in the case of the member in ivory coast, his location in ivory would also determine how easily he can track nilesat. In northern Ghana, let's say from kumasi up,nile would be easy. why, the answer is a member in this forum in Ghana had the opportunity to lay hands on an old fibre the size I can't remember but not 4 or 5m and got nilesat but not full package. unfortunately, a storm damaged that dish and I didn't hear anything from him again.
In the south (Accra ,what I know), no single registered member of this forum, I know, in this forum has the right setup for nilesat (if nilesat signal is to be receive with 2.4m solid pan or fibre).
Ecowas, Salamander and I had the opportunity to work on a 5m fibre, but not was not successful because time was not on our side and the owner has sold the dish. that has been all about nilesat so far, and as I am concerned.
But I know Eurobird , and have confirmed is receivable here in our region. Also, is Badr with 12ft mesh dish and less in the middle belt of Ghana and those guys are not members of the forum nether are they willing to open up, for the fear of losing customers or creating competition or for what ever reason known to themselves.
This is why, I, personally, have stopped talking about nilesat until I have the right equipment ( dish, and good site) to track it.
so, i will encourage the ivorian guy to go ahead for the gold - go on.
well. lastly, this is the third time I have heared that nilesat is received in accra but all with dish sizes from 4m and above with unstable signals and half or quater of the tps. And that is where I realised something must be wrong, because it was the same issues complained about nilesat in season 1,2and part of three until Badaru, Adewest and you guys brought in expertise. I am done

also refer to this link for an idea of dish size you will need. all I can add is that, you may do this on experimental basis for your hobby.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-422448.0.html

I am dropping these infro for your guidance too, I do not know where exactly you live in Zambia, so, I am using the coordinates for your capital city thus, lat 160 S 26' and long. 300E 5'. Based on this info, you can get Astra 2B 28.2e  at azimuth 352.280 and at elevation of 71.560. note: the elevation provided here is for 180cm prime focus dish, the referenced point for azimuth is north in the clockwise direction. the lnb skew is 7.430
with reference to Sirius 4, the azimuth for Sirius 4 is 298.730 and it's elevation is 35.740 so Astra 2B will be further to the right side of sirius 4. this is so, because, if the azimuth for astra 2b was less than that of sirius 4, then that would be a movement in the anticlockwise direction and would have to be physically moved left.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Lyngsat Foot Print Maps by sathob(m): 6:57pm On Apr 04, 2010
Having been unhappy with lyngsat's new format too, I decided to search the web for an alternate solution to eirp vrs dish size relationship, then I stumbled upon these graphs. I believe it will solve the repeated question of what dish size is required for this and that bird. all one needs to do is, get the eirp value or strength covering their area then use the graph for the corresponding dish size.
These figures are only a rough guide as dish sizes may be slightly different in real practical cases.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Fta Equipment Market. Buy And Sell Fta Equipments Here by sathob(m): 10:24am On Apr 02, 2010
@Ameboperoo,

Micro has well explained it but to take you a lil further, you know Gateway Broadcast Service (GBS if I am right) introduced the the GTV decoder into Africa for their service and later the company went into liquidation. Free2view then after sometime come in and announces that they can utilise the dormant GTV boxes for their service should a customer buy an activation voucher and load the new upgrade software (OTA). Then gbam you are in - "forever".

Remember, there are lots (tens of thousands) GTV decoders purchased from GBS in Ghana and even more all over Africa and they can't do anything on their own now, though some can allow viewing of the FTA contents of W3A. Those that are "usable" are the decoders that were not switched on by thier users before GBS rolled out of the system (don't forget, before GBS rolled out, they sent OTA software that made thier boxes unsable, you can track easily with those boxes but won't bring out any channel if you scan for them).
I possess one as I write, though it's not mine as well as the one which opens the FTA on W3A at 7E.

The two boxes I possess now can receive the Sirius4 free2view signals alright but cannot bring out the channels unless the free2view software is downloaded into the box and the activation voucher used to activate the box.

So, buying a GTV box ($43) alone is not the solution but the activation voucher which is $40 completes the joy.
seen?

BUTONEDAY:

Does any one knows where I can get a GTV decoder to buy? I heared that it cost 40 dollars.

the GTV decoder costs just about $43 and you will need an activation voucher at a cost of $40 so the package is about $83. the GTV decoder alone/by itself is nothing.

Anybody knows where we can get the free 2 view smart card to buy? They said it cost about fourty dollars.

the bank of 4pcs of 12V 200Ah mentioned by George_D is quoted as being connected in series. In series, the current flowing through the system is cmmon but the voltage sums up, that's why he has 48V. Nevertheless, the power in Watt hour is the same as being connected in series

in parallel, Wh will be = 48v x 200Ah = 9600Wh

in series Wh will be = 12v x 800Ah = 9600Wh

so, if George's load is about 1000W continuosly, he should be enjoying 9600/1000 = 9.6 hours of power supply to his load.

the discharge period will be short as the load increases, but can be maintained with further increase in the battery bank capacity.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by sathob(m): 3:16pm On Feb 10, 2010
Hi chudieg!

Let’s do some maths here that will help the future reader. Firstly, this set up of four 200Ah battery and 5kvA inverter belongs to one faithful member of this fraternity George_D. He will be the best person to tell what and what he is using in his home.

Now, let’s come to the calculation a 5kvA inverter (5000vA) can support a load maximum of approximately (5000 x 0.85 = 4250W) at any given time, assuming the power factor here is 0.85. If we also assume the power factor is 1 (which will not be) then the maximum load the inverter can support will be (5000 x 1 = 5000W). Anything above this will “not be”. With this size if inverter, you can power your tv (even LCD), fan, fridge (400W), iron (1000W) and other domestic appliances.

Number two, the battery – how long you will enjoy the ability of your inverter to power all these appliances depends on the capacity of your battery.

E.g. a 12v 200Ah battery can store (12 x 200 = 2400Wh of energy) if I should load this battery with a 2000W appliance, then, I can enjoy a working period of 2400/2000 = 1.2 hours of operation. If the load is 1000W, I may expect the supply to last 2400/1000 = 2.4h.

If I should double the capacity of the battery by connecting them in parallel, the voltage will be common here and the currents will sum up. Therefore with the above battery 12V, 200Ah, connected in parallel the capacity will be 12v, 400Ah and this means that the bank can store energy of 12 x 400Ah = 4800Ah and this is double the operation time of 12V, 200Ah.

Note that, the more energy you take, the faster the battery discharges.

odilibe:

some cable operators in nigeria are now digital connect your cable antenna to your dvd and see what happens only if you have a cable station in your area however the signal could be scrambled
I don't really know how to start this but I think there are various platforms on which television is broadcast. DVB-S, the satellite platform, which is of our interest in this house; DVB-C the cable platform; and DVB-T for terrestrial platform. If a cable operator goes digital but still remains on a cable platfrom, the freeview box (a uk digital terrestrial box operating in DVB-T) will not be of any use here. A cable operator may go digital from analogue but on DVB-C which a DVB-T box won't be suitable for you can only use a DVB-C box; just as DVB-S box is not suitable for DVB-T transmission. I believe I am not wrong and I stand to be corrected.
