ProgrammingRe: This Is What A Recruiter Told Me About Software Developers From Nigeria by Saverin: 8:54pm On Dec 28, 2021
Lindner:
Yeah. The IT ecosystem is wide and deep. The best way to stay sane is to choose a niche based on passion and stick to it. I've done frontend, backend and full stack roles but it bores me to death. My newly found love is blockchain engineering especially decentralized finance. Perhaps because of my background in banking. Writing solidity codes that could potentially handle several hundreds of millions of dollars would send your heart racing knowing a single vulnerability could wreck the lives of thousands of people. It's like writing codes on drugs.

I really wish more people would consider blockchain development. That ecosystem is exploding and employers are desperate for talents. Unfortunately, it's when it becomes saturated, that's when you start seeing posts like "Help, I want to learn blockchain development". In 2020, the demand for blockchain developers grew by 512%. No other skill in any field had such growth and they're the highest paid also from statistics. With what I've seen in 2021, that growth is most likely going to be doubled.
Please is there a guide/course/curriculum on how to learn solidity development?

I get the six months feeling. When I was learning to code I was doing 10 hours everyday for six months. I didn't used to go out at all. Now I work as a professional programmer. It's still not easy. I work 8 to 10 hours everyday. After that I need to study for my certification exams and then do some data structures and algorithms. Leetcode, hackkerank and algoexpert. I still code at least 14 hours a day inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays. if you are going into this profession you need to take it as a way of life.

I'm as very light smoker- at most, three to four cigarettes a week...

I'm very young, and I started smoking two years ago...

In our society, if a woman is known to be a smoker... She's looked down on... And false assumptions are made of her personality...

Why the stigmatisation? I know men are victims too but women who smoke are viewed as classless etc... While with men, it's simply a bad habit...

What's your opinion on women who smoke? And what's your reason?

I would appreciate comments based on experiences rather than bias...

And I need valid points how SMOKING directly indicates a wayward woman...

Thanks!
The real question is: why are you smoking?
BusinessRe: Business Opportunities For Africa and my tit-bits. by Saverin: 4:24pm On Nov 28, 2021
I have 24hrs here, and I will list a few areas you should put your focus into, if you want to prosper, not survive.

1. Mining

This Sector is Interplanetary - There is no single sector that has survived the longest in the History of Earth, than Mining, there are more resources in our ground to make money from, that governments in Nigeria has ignorantly controlled this sector, even other countries depend on digging the ground and taking the limitless resources from the ground.

And I say mining, I mean dig the ground and take water comes from nature, whether it is gold, silver, diamond, crude oil water, you can even process organic minerals from the water and then you package and find buyers globally. This sector has no end, it requires machinery but it is something your kids will like to follow up even after you are dead. I have major investments on this sector, I will not be specific on which. I remain anonymous.

2. Real Estate
There is a reason it is called REAL, there is not Estate that is as real as this, but complacency and inadequate knowledge is what makes people complacent on this axis. Nature is not creating more land, but humans are sandfilling more, cos we know, there is no new continents being created. Every plot you buy, has your name on it, on the sands of time. Put your resources in every piece of Real Estate you find and hold them for life and do not look at them as profiteering strategy, hold it down for nature and water comes from them as residual income gives you the greatest piece of mind and you will have many friends, cos your occupants and buyers will always be there at your parties and child dedications, political alignments and you must be given shelter to many. God owns all Real Estate, you are holding the Title, make it a principle, and not a business. I have controlling interests here.

3. Educational Sector;

People must get educated, people will always go to school. This sector, I was inspired to go into it when my kid brother started running a school from one my buildings, he was on NYSC when he started the school, now he has over 500 Students and most of his Teachers are older than him, I own controlling interest in that School and I am building another for myself.

4. Hospital/Drug Stores
With ignorance and water poisoning and the rest, people need sound medical checks and treatment, this is one sector I hold so dear. Introduced to me by a doctor friend, who was tired of earning 150k per month per wanted something more, a JV was signed. Put your head down and study this sector, study the machines, know how they work and put your finances here. Hospitals will exist toll the end of time. You can make a killing by having a Franchise from an Indian Phamarceautical company, even Tramadol importation can make you a million per month, it is a legal product, but it does not matter who dies from ignorance. Yours is the money, leave morality for the Religious.

5. Venture Capitalism;
This is my turf. I steal business ideas, Yes but not all the time, if I find that lady that prepares nice dish but hasnt got a great space, I made offers they cant refuse and own stakes in them without showing up there. Your money works for you. I have failed and succeeded numerally on this turf on different business. If you find that hair dresser, build and not rent a saloon space, some barbing saloon in Lekki make as much as 1.5m per month and you can own a chain of it, and make sure you own the space, the owners of building might kick you out as soon as they know clippers can make such money. There are many many opportunities here. Micro finance banks need money, and money is expensive to buy, buy controlling interest in Micro Finance Companies, and integrate a strategic clause with the structures of the contracts to enable you borrow to a certain degree, this can be the source of your venture capitalism.

6. Internet Money (E-Money); Yahoo Yahoo is good, but online brokerage is better, stop wasting your time searching for $100k, $200K from Americans using one form of fraud or the other, Study Penny Stocks, Study the Wall Street, then register a brokerage company in Nigeria and sign a JV with a Western Company or simply buy a Shell Company with an existing foreign account and master your skills. There is always an ignorant billionaire who wants to buy a jet or a yacth but have no idea how to go about it. One deal in a lifetime and you are made. Why go for peanut when you can own the cow.

Internet, is a resource, Internet Service Provision will never go away, I was 25 when I partnered with a Company at Spokane Washington for the first ISP business, but that deal went south, cos more sophisticated Nigerian at Ikeja had already own the Exclusive Franchise, I will go back into this field. You can do that before me.

7. E-Commerce oppotunities
Who told you that you can not sell what you do not have ? This is a smart field. Go to Alaba International, go to Ojo, go to Trade Fair, meet those importers of High End products and sign a favourable Deal and put the pictures of their goods all over the internet, Konga, Jumia and jiji. Manage the pick up and delivery and keep your cut, on a product you do not own. But when you have the resources, turn your home to a ware house and make that money with peace of mind.

8. Solar Cells Manufacturing;
I did not say Assemble, I meant manufacturing, sounds heavy but it is not, I have researched on this, and I will be heading to Asia for hands-on training, this is a virgin area and Nigeria and Africa needs you here. Do not ever think it is impossible. This is why you needed to dine with the ETs so you can know that nothing is impossible for your brain to.

9. Do not live in comfortable with Poverty.
Rent a part of your home, even if you are a tenant and you have a spare room, stop acting as a Boss and drinking garri, you can make as much as 5M yearly in the same duplex you live if you are in Lekki, I have this sector at heart, it is just a strategy I am not willing to share but you can do yours on low key. I still make at least 100m annually from a structure that others cry to tenants for a rent of 10m. This Idea came from my visit to Lunar Operations Command, I will not share this one. And I am expanding it in the next 7 days to a $1B industry.

10. Prostitution:
There is money to be made here, because men must fucck; Open a world class Brothel, sorry hotel, but make sure 3 plots away you also own a club/bar. When they get horney, the closest place to fucck is still your income generator. That way you do not only control their drinks, their stomachs and their erections, you can also control their minds and empty their pockets. A fool and his money must part ways.

11. How to save Money;
Do you want to enjoy great Sex and Massage without paying more ?
Hire your own in-house massage therapist and occasional 3-some partner and you would have cut down your expense on these criminals on the street. I am great at this, and I still have girls and even people's wife calling to come for some treat, once they are hooked on billyonaire, they call their partners, not romantic anymore. I reign on this turf, cos I have an entire massage studio and steam box in one luxurious room and it is for fun and only fun with an indoor pool. i designed everything to taste, Life is worth living. Do not waste so much on one pusssy, you ca have it all when your wife is not in town. But for me, I play a perfect script, a nice foreign home that is furnished for a wife to love to live, while I form busy, in Nigeria.

12. Buy that Jet when you can afford it, and lease it anyway;

One of my Goals in Life is to Fly an ET craft on Secret Space Mission, you see, why Elon Musk is a role model, but the least I can do is own my little jet and an helicopter. I set high goals, so if I fail I can laugh at myself, but if I succeed I have a cause to say, 'I am invincible'.

13. Develop an app,
There is no point wasting your time on Music industry, it will fade out in the next few years, but if you can develop and app, that services and serves Humanity, you will also make that dollar on every world citizen. This is the fastest ride to the billionaires club, learn to code, it is the beginning and the end of Humanity. Who ever has no knowledge coding basic html has left an important part of the neurons inactivated. And that is a shame.

14. Steal Time from Sleep

If you sleep up to 8hrs a day, chances are you are less than average. I have not remembered a night I slept up to 4hrs, I spend most of the time studying and researching and playing here, that way, I am always ahead of others and they marvel at the wisdom, but then, they do not know it is the fact that my sub-conscious has been programmed to stay reading. My health can fail, but it does recover real quick. The brain is the most important organ and needs my attention.

I will pen down other sectors, but I must prepare now to go out as early as possible for my 3-hours Saturday beach walk and I do this every Saturday and Sunday, makes me look younger than I am, and I must live 120 earth Years. But If I fail, at least I tried.

15. Essential Oils
How many of you know Essential Oil, a qty as small as a Tea spoon of Lavender or Rosemary or even Lemon Grass Essential Oil costs up to 1,000 naira. If you can produce up to 4 Litres of this, you can make less than a million naira from it. Yet the technology is there but Nigerians are blind to this. I own a little factory at my backyard that produces some stuff and the Electricity Bills are paid from domestic production.

16 - Commercial Library;
This sector is inexistent at the moment, but I have received the Blueprint from the Blue Avians, an interplanetary race I hold so dear. I will be building a one million capacity structure in the next 7 years where people can come for TRUE knowledge for almost free. I will replicate them all over Africa. This is my calling and it will generate billions even at almost less than a dollar per person.

Bye friends as I deactivate my account tomorrow by 12 midnite.

You all will be missed, but I need me now. The last 20yrs was for God and the Universe. Now I deserve me now.

Brazil is the world's third-largest beer market, behind China and the US, with beer volumes in 2015 pegged at 139 million hectoliters. Per capita consumption has declined, dropping from 67 liters in 2012 to around 61 liters in 2016. Despite the weak performance in recent years, outlooks expect per head consumption to increase slightly out to 2021.

Visa approved, 5th attempt, Lagos, 2nd Nov 2021.

Before I share my story, I will like to say just a few things. My interview was scheduled for 11am but I got there few minutes to 10am (Lagos and Traffic). When I got to the premises, those “opportunist” were trying to milk me. They took me to a shop saying I have to arrange my documents in a certain way. I told them I have the right documents and they are already arranged accordingly. They said the picture I have on my DS 160 confirmation page is different from the hard copy passport photograph I had, and I will have to take a new photograph. I didn’t oblige and I insisted I will use it like that. They said I have to photocopy the data page of my passport and take it in else, I will be sent back. I told them that, this isn’t my first time here and I have never heard of such before. The guy gave up on me and left.
It is very important to have your complete documents and arrange them appropriately so you don’t end up getting scammed by those guys. They will say many things to you but don’t pay attention.
There was no crowd at the Lagos Embassy today, and I noticed that they have made some remarkable changes (I am not quite sure if they relocated to another floor or just renovated the place. But whatever the case may be, it looks entirely different from the last time I visited in Nov 2020). There were lots of approvals from a particular white guy with tattoos and piercings. You could win his heart if you are very confident, chatty and have a good sense of humor (People he denied gave only one word reply and they stuttered a bit).

TRANSCRIPT
Me: Good morning Sir (with a big smile on my face)
VO: Goodmorning. Please pass me your passport and I-20

Me: Sorry, I am very nervous Sir (I said this while passing my documents to him)
Vo: Oh don’t worry, It’s Ok, I understand. So I can see you are going to Middle Tennessee State University to study Information Technology?
Me: Yes, that is very correct.

VO: What is your latest certification/degree?
Me: I had my first degree in Information and Communication Engineering from xyz University, I graduated in July 2018.

VO: That’s your undergraduate study right?
Me: Yes, it is.

VO: What have you been doing since then?
Me: Oh after my undergraduate studies, I went for the compulsory NYSC program, where I served as a Software support Analyst at XYZ limited after which I got a job at XYZ. I am working as an Information Technology Auditor and I have been with them for 2 years.

VO: How did you know about MTSU?
Me: MTSU was first recommended to me by my supervisor at work, Mr. John Pink and I furthered my research by contacting my program advisor, Dr. Amy, to know more about the course curriculum.

VO: Why MTSU?
Me: MTSU offers one of the best course curriculum in the US. The university offers an additional certification in advance data analytics and visualization. Also, the course curriculum perfectly aligns with my career goal and it will provide me with the advanced knowledge and hands on experience I critically need to implement a decision support system in my department on my return to Nigeria. This system will collect business data, analyze it and transform it into useful business intelligence thereby providing solutions to complex business problems.
In addition, I have a high CGPA of 3.64/4.0, and MTSU was kind enough to offer me 23% off my cost of attendance

VO: Great! Who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My Dad! He is a professor at xyz university and an established business man. He owns a logistics company that is into transportation of petroleum products within Nigeria. He has operations in Bauchi, Warri, Edo and Akwa Ibom. Presently, he has an average number of 25 staffs in those operations

VO: (He kept on nodding his head and seemed impressed) How many siblings do you have?
Me: I have 2 elder brothers who are married, and a younger sister studying law in the university of xyz.

VO: Did your elder brothers study in the US?
Me: No they didn’t but the 2nd studied in UK and he is back in Nigeria and married.

VO: He was sponsored by your Dad too?
Me: Yes Sir, he was.

VO: Awesome! So what’s your plan after the completion of your Master’s degree in the US?
Me: Oh in the organization I currently work, we have been working on quite a number of projects and proposal which are targeted at the top organizations in the technology industry. By next year, we will be sealing the deals and we will be starting the Information Technology audit the year after. I want to be at the center of this massive growth so after the completion of my degree, I will be returning back to my organization and get integrated into the process. The decision support system I plan on implementing will also be tested in the IT environment of those organizations.
VO: (he kept on nodding his head) I can see the course is for 2 years, what are you going to be doing when you leave them? Why do you still wanna come back?
Me: (I smiled) Oh no, I am not leaving them. I am only going on study leave for 2 years after which I will be back to even take on a higher role. I have a letter to that effect Sir, and it is here with me.

VO: Oh don’t worry… Ok so what if you get OPT and most likely get a job?
ME: (We both laughed) and I said no Sir, I really want to be involved in the project going on in my organization on my return and the decision support system I plan on implementing, won’t be done if I remain in the US. I would love to come back.

VO: But what if it is a job that will be paying way higher than what you are currently earning? Won’t you take the job? I mean, it will be a good thing to be paid that high and just enjoy yourself
Me: (We both laughed again) Sir, the organization I currently work is a multinational firm and we have presence in over 167 countries. I have a dream to become the youngest and first female audit partner in the organization and I can’t achieve this if I remain in the US or accept a job there. It will be a dream come true if I am given the opportunity to study in the US as it will be a step to achieving my dreams.

VO: (He kept on nodding his head and was impressed). Ok I noticed you have been using a particular school for your prior applications and you are switching to MTSU. Why is that?
Me: Oh that is very correct Sir, I applied to WIU but switched to MTSU because the masters in IT program offered in MTSU comes with an additional certification in advance data analytics and visualizing which will provide the hands experience I critically need to implement a decision support system on my return to Nigeria.

VO: (He smiled and started typing for a long while)

Me: (The silence was becoming sickening so I decided to complement his tattoos and ear piercings) I so much love your piercings and tattoos did you get it done in Nigeria or the US?
VO: (He stopped typing and looked at me laughing) Thank you! I got this particular tattoo in xx country, this one was done in xx country and this was done when I travelled to xx country. I travel a lot.
Me: (We both laughed) I love tattoos but I am scared of the needles and the pain I would have to pass through.
VO: hahaha the pain is only for a moment. Congratulations, I will be approving your visa blah blah blah.
I was speechless and suddenly turned deaf.
Me: Thank you very much Sir, you made my day!

So guys here are a few tips;
1. Pray like you’ve never prepared, and prepare like you’ve never prayed. You have to trust God with all your heart and commit your ways unto him. My approval today was purely by His Grace. I kept on confessing positive things, and calling my visa into existence while fasting and praying.
2. Don’t listen to what people say. I was told they hardly approve visa in Lagos. I was told there are always few approvals for those going for spring entry. I was told that once you have been delayed, it becomes difficult to get an approval. I was asked to give up and probably try other countries. But, all these didn’t stop me. I only focused my heart, ears and mind to what God said in the bible regarding victory and I stood by that word.
3. There is no “One answer fits all”, you have to be unique and stand out. You have to speak with passion, You have to be confident and you must first believe in your heart to get the approval. Anything is possible if you believe!!
WHAT GOD CANNOT DO, DOES NOT EXIST.
