rexben: The God of the old testament asked His people to utterly destroy their enemies without sparing any, while on the contrary the God of the new testament asked His children to love their enemies. First, did the God of the OT allow the enemies of the Israelites destroy them? If yes, why? And lest you spread this rather lopsided version I hope you realise that Love was commanded in the OT: Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.Deuteronomy 10:19 Note that God did not bid them do to strangers what Egypt did to them. Now who is the stranger and who is the enemy? How was Israel to differentiate and on what basis did a stranger graduate into an enemy? And why did Israel suffer the same fate in the hands of enemies at some point? That is for your Bible study. God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen? Num 23:19 But he is unchangeable, and who can change him? Whatever he has desired, he does. Job 23:13 HAlleluyah! If God does not change, it means God of the old testament is different from the new testament. So, which one is the supreme God? Is it the old testament's God or the new testament's God? Or if God does not change, it means God was portrayed wrongly either in the old testament or new testament. So, where was portrayed wrongly, is it in the old or new testament? God remains the same! |

Op, blaspheming wont change anything; infact, its just the opinion of one out of over 6 billion. Dont let NL give you a false feeling of being a leader of thought. In any case, one thing that occurred to me, (having scanned through your vitriolic post) is what I have always said namely: God in the Bible is not the same as your Allah; Jesus Whom the Bible proclaims is not the same as the other Jesus that is in the Quran; All the prophets you find in the Bible are NOT the same as the ones you have in your Quran. ( For example, David fell into adultery and was judged for it, he also wrote psalms expressing his penitence but the one in the Quran was said to be sinless, if you claim that the Injil was corrupted, what is to be said about historical records of David's sin and his repentance? Were those also added and for what reason? Then Solomon, generations after and Nehemiah still referred to Solomon's sin in Nehemiah 13:26,27 yet the Quran says he was sinless! Was Nehemiah a Nairalander trying to 'twist' history then?). Calling The Lord Jesus those names, you are not the first. The pharisees did exactly the same using similar words so at least you have a company! In conclusion, when life is o'er, we shall understand it better! |

raphieMontella: No no no no...this is inardvently wrong...
The ipuwer papyrus is a poem and a ''treatise'' on political ethics...and does not depict the ''exodus''... It explicitly talks about the ''tides of wealth''..that it rotates like a ''potters wheel'' The papyrus's original composition is dated to the late ''middle kingdom'' (c1850-1650BCE) while the biblical exodus date is 1446BC(from the bible are 1 Kgs 6:1, Judg 11:26 and 1 Chr 6:33– 37)...
The disparity of the dates between the Ipuwer and Exodus documents is enough to know its not about the ''exodus'' even ''TOP'' Biblical sites know this and refrain from equating the papyrus to the exodus... As seen here
this is actually confirmation of what we(biblical skeptics) have been saying;that the bible is a complilation of texts copied from older works and civilizations like in the case of the ten commandments(42 principles of maat(egypt);etc...
Even the supposed parallels are not sincerely parallels.. The ''parallels'' arise when one does a ''cut and join'' of separate statements, axing of statements and cherry picking...
1) Like the statement ''the river is blood'' which is said to be a plague from yahweh... Ipuwer clearly states the reason for the ''river being blood'' is that people are killing each other and the dead are being buried/thrown into the river and crocodiles feast on them as if they were fish(a bloodbath)
2)according to Ipuwer the source of the famine is a > failure to farm due to the state of anarchy in the land....NOT ''LOCUSTS''
3)it clearly states the fact that its Asiatics are arriving in Egypt rather than leaving
4)the death of the princes in the ipuwer are less cryptic and is alluded to humans doing the killings NOT A SUPERNATURAL FORCE OR SO
6)the ipuwer never says the ''cattles died''...it says they ''weep'' because there is no one to ''gather them''
7)the supposed ''plague of hail'' is constructed by selective picking of four + separate events..
in its end...it describes better days as was the intent of the poem as shown in the beginning of the treatise---''the land turns like a potters wheel''...
Baba..abeg download/read the full translation of the ipuwer papyrus yourself and see for yourself... Alright, your source was not quoted. Besides why on Earth and who named that place Nuwaybah Al Muzzayinah? |

raphieMontella: okay...i'd reconsider taking the bible as truth when you can provide an egyptian record of the exodus...(the egyptians took record of virtually anything)... Or just half a record.... Go here! http://ohr.edu/838The ten plagues are probably one of the most famous aspects of the Exodus story. If the plagues were historical events as recorded by Moses, then there should be some fragment of evidence describing their catastrophic consequences. In fact, there is a papyrus in the Leiden Museum in Holland which provides a graphic portrayal eerily reminiscent of the biblical account. There is no consensus among archaeologists as to when it was originally penned An excerpt reads: … Plague stalks through the land and blood is everywhere … Nay, but the river is blood. Does a man drink from it? As a human he rejects it. He thirsts for water … Nay, but gates, columns and walls are consumed with fire…Nay but the son of the high-born man is no longer to be recognized … The stranger people from outside are come into Egypt … Nay, but corn has perished everywhere…Everyone says ‘there is no more.’20 from: http://creation.com/egyptian-history-and-the-biblical-record-a-perfect-match#ref20Besides, we should ask the Israelites, is this part of their history? |
Christianity Etc › Re: THE RED SEA CROSSING. Did It Really Happen? [See pictures] by Scholar8200(m): 12:30pm On Oct 08, 2016 |
raphieMontella: 1. "First, the site of the Exodus route, as described in Exodus 14:1, is highly disputed. Conservative scholarship strongly argues that Israel crossed the Gulf of Suez and not the Gulf of Aqaba, as Wyatt contended. '2. "Second, Wyatt claimed that he was using simple recreational scuba equipment when he discovered these wheels, etc., at a depth of some 200 feet in the Gulf. However, ordinary scuba apparatus is designed to accommodate only a depth of approximately 125-130 feet. Beyond this, more sophisticated equipment is required." 3.Pharaoh’s army was said to have been destroyed “in the middle of the sea” (Exodus 14:23) which, according to measurements of the British Admiralty, is almost 2,800 feet deep in the midst of Aqaba. This hardly harmonizes with Wyatt’s 200 feet “discoveries”!" 4. "Then there is the issue of the “bones” — of both horses and men — that Wyatt reputedly found. Recall that the destruction of Pharaoh’s army took place about 3,500 years ago. Compare this with the following facts. The Titanic went down in 1912 and 1,553 people were lost in the wreckage. In 1985, 73years following that Atlantic catastrophe, the submerged vessel was discovered and explored. Specially designed underwater TV and video equipment was employed; in addition, more than 53,000 photos were taken. The remains of not a solitary person — neither skin nor bone — was found. Everything had been completely consumed by fish, crustaceans, and the destructive effect of salt water."...
the ''allegded discovery'' -#problems 1) no independent peer-reviewed examination by archaeologists and other specialists 2)If what Wyatt found is factual, Egyptian authorities including representatives from the Museum in Cairo would have gone to the site, confirmed the findings, secured the site, and then excavated the site of its valuable artifacts. Such a find would have been newsworthy and did get some television coverage around the world.
3)According to Exodus 12:37–38, the Israelites numbered "about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children," plus many non-Israelites and livestock. There's still no evidence for this huge amount of ''nomadics'' across the gulf of alqaba for fourty years 4)the plagues...the huge number of masses lost to this supposed plague--death of army,,sons,,no drinkable water,,loss of harvest etc(egypt's populace at the supposed time was about 3.5m...such plagues would have taken a huge hit on the populace and on the economy and archaelogy evidence would support this)

The abolition or repeal of a law, institution, custom etc. Cf. Obrogation abrogatio, the Latin term for legal annulment under Roman law Abrogation of Old Covenant laws, the ending or setting aside of Old Testament stipulations for the New Testament Denunciation (international law) of a treaty Canceling of effects, To nullify; make void Abrogation doctrine, a doctrine in United States constitutional law Naskh (tafsir) (Arabic for abrogation), a genre of Islamic exegesis dealing with conflicting material in Islamic law

Christianity Etc › Re: THE SABBATH ÐAÝ: Saturday Or Sunday? by Scholar8200(m): 11:31am On Oct 08, 2016*. Modified: 3:34pm On Oct 08, 2016 |
Ebiezprada: Hello ladies and gentlemen, this has been an issue on my mind for sometime now. I've always known sunday to be the first day of the week and saturday to be the seventh day of the week and according to the holy bible, God rested on the seventh day after His work of creation for six days. Over time, I've heard preachers say sunday is the sabbath day while there are churches who actually worship on saturdays and claim it to be the ideal sabbath day. I need your ideas and thoughts with reasons on which day you think is the ideal sabbath day. The sabbath you find in the law is Saturday. The sabbath was mentioned in Genesis 2:1,2; and was also integrated into the law for the Israelites Exodus 20:8. But note that at NO time was the sabbath observed by Abraham yet he, inherited the promise, was declared righteous by faith etc The poster below falsely claims Abraham kept the sabbath but cannot prove this. Before the law, there is NO evidence that anyone kept the sabbath! At least circumcision was given and we have details of how Abraham did it! Besides, the law had its role: Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Gal. 3:24,25 However, neither Jesus nor the Apostles commanded keeping of the sabbaths as a requirement for salvation. In fact the above must have been the reason why the Church met on sunday, the day of Christ's resurrection which they called the Lord's day. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Revelation 1:10 See Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinth 16:2,3 (also see for better understanding of Lord's day http://biblehub.com/commentaries/revelation/1-10.htm) Others like Enoch, Noah etc what we find is that they walked with God, just like Abraham, by faith! Bare this in mind: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of[b the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Colossians 2:16,17 Anyone who claims to keep the sabbath today(as found in the law) but does not keep the other sabbaths(there are others in the law too) is deceiving himself in the midst of a great misunderstanding. |
