pr0blem:
You're not listening to yourself. The serpent as mentioned by Jesus himself is a shadow of himself. Moses (shadow of God) put up the Serpent (Jesus) for the people, for a one-off usage. That passage you brought up in first kings detailed how the Children of Israel still burned incense to the brasen serpent
Was there any command that such should be done for deliverance or any reason afterwards?

Did Paul not say "Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more" [2 Cor 5:16]. Christ in the flesh (Jesus of Nazareth) was for a one-off cause (the Cross). Which should thus be discarded after the show, isn't it? - That's my question.
What was the purpose of the Cross? Are people still in need of salvation today? What is the Divinely commanded means of salvation today?

It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day
, just as the Scriptures said
1 Corinth 15:2-4

Furthermore:
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[g] Romans 10:13

Lastly:

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save[e] those who come to God through him.
Hebrews 7:25a

Is HE to be discarded? No! When we believe the Gospel and express that faith/belief by calling on Him(that rose up) in Prayer (as the Only Saviour) we will be saved.

"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up" - John 3:14. Why do people still worship Jesus, if he came to serve just one purpose, and to be discarded after. Has Christianity not missed it somewhere?
Rather you missed my point. The serpent lifted up is the one that served a one-off purpose (as John 3:14 shows) , NOT Jesus! Where were the Israelites asked to depend on it after that time? That's the meaning of a one-off usage.

Excellent input. In fact, consider this:
He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
2 Kings 18:4

It served just one purpose and was to be discarded. Note that the Serpent was made at God's command for a one-off use with a Substance in mind.

I have so many catholic friends around me. And whenever i try to let them understand that d Bible is against bowing down to images according to Exodus 20:3—6, they tend to argue their way out and justify their action with what happened in Numbers 21:8—9.
Jesus already explained why God gave them that similitude in John 3:14. Hence, it's not an allowance for us to bow before images today (even real angels rejected that).

It is on record Jesus was tempted in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights, I understand that to mean he was learning to control the pranic forces.
I hope you won't ask me what Prana is?
This is a case of reading into the Bible! The temptations and the tempter were recorded, whence this lies of yours?

Once he understood how to control those forces, he could apply it to any condition (healing, raise dead, turn water to wine) using any method he deems fit.
You sound very much like the pharisees," this man doth not cast out devils but by Beelzebub".

Ironically, what was the question that man on the cross put to Jesus?
Did he not answer it by "saving" (raising) himself from dead?
Now listen to a witness:

This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.Acts 2:32

Jesus never said we should put him on a pedestal to be worshipped but that we could do more than he did.

In the book of Genesis, we learn that Abraham married his sister Sarah, but during the time of moses God did not allow an israelites to marry his sister. Could it be that God allow incest before the emergence of the law?
Let these answer you:

God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

(Acts 14:15b, 16 and Romans 5:13)

Why then where some people judged before the law? The same reason for which Cain was judged, rebellion against God's revelation (either directly or otherwise)

Exactly!!! That faith is essential. It implies meaning and being mindful of what we said after prayer! This helped a lot in my case. There was no initial special feeling etc but a faith that believed since I have done all required(repentance and faith), God will be faithful to do His, and a carefulness to avoid anything that will suggest i was not meaning to be true. Living Right is an evidence that we have the Holy Spirit who lives through us because we have received His Grace.

A so called Christian perpetually living in unrighteousness may never have been Born Again.

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature...but if there be a "christian" who is not a new creature, then, he may have assumed that he is Born Again. Jesus doesn't know him!
Thank God for this input! We are saved by grace through faith. Having being saved, we dont remain slaves to sin (making empty affirmations but denying the power thereof). There is a transformation of life made possible by the working of He that worketh in us mightily!

Christianity EtcRe: What Did Jesus Mean When He Said 'I AM'? by Scholar8200(m): 9:26pm On Oct 19, 2016
tintingz:
JOHN 8:58 BEFORE Abraham was, I AM
JOHN 8:58

Does John 8:58 prove the the doctrine of the trinity, which states that Jesus the Son of God is CO ETERNAL with Almighty God?
Precisely!

Or does John 8:58 prove the doctrine of the deity of Jesus as himself being ALMIGHTY God the great I AM THAT I AM, which we read about in Exodus 3:14, which says,
No, this contradicts other passages in both OT and NT.

“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me unto you.”

In John 8:58 Jesus says, Verily verily, BEFORE Abraham was, I AM. So the question has been asked, “Is Jesus saying he IS THE I AM, as in, Is Jesus saying that he is THE ALMIGHTY God, when Jesus says the words “I AM”?”
Consider these:

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. John 5:18

The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John 10:33
Jesus did not deny these accusations because both were True!

Then another question is asked, “Does Jesus saying the words “I AM” mean that Jesus pre existed for all eternity like Almighty God? In other words, was Jesus as the SON of Almighty God ALWAYS in existence WITH Almighty God the Father in that Jesus the Son of God had NO BEGINNING?
Absolutely! To take a contrary position is to contradict other passages.

Let us begin this study in God word by reading this verse in the CONTEXT of where it is found. First we will deal with the question of whether or not Jesus is saying that he is the great I AM, the ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God. Then further on in this study is God's word we will address the question of whether or not Jesus is co eternal with Almighty God the great I AM.

John 8:12-59.
“Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

13. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, You bear record of yourself; your record is not true.

14. Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but you cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

15. You judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

16. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am NOT ALONE, but I AND the Father that SENT me.

17. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of TWO men is true. (Jesus plainly states that there are TWO that bear witness all the way through this entire passage of scripture, which teaches us that Jesus is NOT saying that he himself is ALMIGHTY God the great I AM, who alone is the FATHER. In other words, IF Jesus was truly saying that he himself IS the I AM, then Jesus would be saying that he is the FATHER himself.)

18. I am ONE that bear witness of myself, and the Father that SENT me bears witness of me. (in other words, Almighty God the Father is ONE witness and Jesus the SON of God is witness number TWO, which teaches us that Jesus and the Father are NOT ONE and the SAME being, but rather they are TWO separate individual persons or beings that AGREE or have the same WITNESS)

19. Then said they unto him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, You neither know me, nor my Father: if you had known me, you should have known my Father also. (here again we see Jesus speaking of TWO separate persons)

42. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I proceeded FORTH and came FROM God; neither came I OF MYSELF, but HE SENT me.
(so again we see that Jesus is NOT identifying himself as BEING the one who sent himself. Jesus is clearly teaching us that he was sent BY the great I AM who is Almighty God.)

50. And I seek not mine OWN glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
(here we see that Jesus does not honor himself, but rather Jesus honors his Father. So again we see two separate persons, the great I AM THAT I AM and his SON Jesus.)

54. Jesus answered, If I honor MYSELF, my honor is nothing: it is MY Father that honors me
(again please notice again that Jesus is speaking of his Father, the great I AM THAT I AM as being a SEPARATE person from himself); of whom you say, that he is your God:
Of course HE was sent by the Father. But remember Philipians 2:3-7

56. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see MY DAY: and he saw it, and was glad.
(HOW did Abraham see the DAY of the Messiah, when the Messiah had NOT YET COME? I will comment on this question in a moment.)

57. Then said the Jews unto him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?

58. Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, (or Truly truly) I say unto you, BEFORE Abraham was, I am.

59. Then took they up stones to cast at him:
(not because Jesus was saying that he was ALMIGHTY God the Father, who alone is the great I AM THAT I AM, but rather because they did NOT believe that Jesus was the Messiah. You see the context of the previous chapters teach us that the Jew wanted to kill Jesus for breaking the Sabbath day by healing the sick on the Sabbath. The truth of the matter is that these Jewish leaders did not want to loose any of their followers to become a follower of Jesus so they picked up stones to stone him for whatever reason they could find),
but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.”

http://www.amatteroftruth.com/john-5-58-before-abraham-was-i-am
This highlighted contradicts John 5:18 and 10:33 that shows why they wanted to stone Him, not Messiah-ship! In fact, nothing was said by Jesus about Him being accepted as the Messiah there!

If you look at the content of marriage vows, you will conclude that even Christians don't take the vows seriously

Would you......take .......to be your lawful wedded wife

Version A: I, ____, take you, ____, to be my wife (or husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law, and this is my solemn vow.

Version B: Groom: I,____, take thee,_____, to be my wedded Wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I plight thee my troth.

We concentrate on the ceremony and forget that we made a vow before God.

It is better not to make a vow than to make one before God and then break it.

I guess the problem is that we don't know the definition of Love or Submission!
Very true. Now this leads us to something much overlooked: most Christians know nothing about Divine Guidance and the need for continual recourse to God along the way. Why? The only time some take Divine Guidance serious is when they get to marriage. Anyone who knows about Divine Guidance will realise that once you get God's mind on something, there is need for commitment therein else there will be repercussions. Meaning, its almost like a vow that demands commitment has been taken when you seek and receive God's guidance.

If this was understood, courtship wont be necessary! We will realise that only God matters and difficulties externally or in the other person would always be taken back to Him!

I do agree on the importance of divine guidance and it's superiority to other considerations. Though I would not advice on dependence on any third parties for the same. People should train their spirits to distinguish right from wrong and to hear from God.
By 3rd party what I meant was the couple being convinced first then having a confirmation from God as He may seem fit on the basis of every word being confirmed in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses the use of 3 here being a safeguard to the couple being deceived by emotion or sight.

Let's also not forget that the individualistic nature of today's society makes a lot of dangerous people in the society. People no longer take words, oaths and promises seriously. Not even marriage. So parents have to be extra careful.
How careful can we get? Even a marriage that comes after long courtship and full parental caution and involvement still fails! Why not therefore make the main thing, the main thing (Divine Guidance) and leave the extraneous that adds no real advantage? Once there are 3 witnesses namely couple and a spiritual leader regarding leading, that should be all. If long courtships fail, why waste time thereon?

Besides, these days, that courtship time is usually spent in giving a false assurance that you finally found the angelic sister/''jim-jim"brother of your dreams, no thanks to the pretence and hypocrisy. You know what? This might increase divorce cases because after the journey to the altar alters the alter egos into their true selves hence the expectations and fantasies, intensified by courtship, crashes suddenly and , in some cases, may never be restored.

If God is truly leading you, and there are witnesses, wanting a period of hanging on, except if HE leads you so to do, sounds like Moses wanting to send spies after he had been told to move in, the result was a fall from faith to sight!
