facheux:Prove this from the recorded texts. The record we have is that: 27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. 28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. John 13:27,28 They had no idea of what was going to happen or how the betrayal was going to occur. Besides, did Jesus tell them to buy swords to fight Soldiers with?? NO! Jesus pbuh orders the disciples to sell their clothes and buy swords,So He needed 2 swords in the hands of 12 men (mostly fishermen and ordinary citizens against well trained Roman soldiers!!!); definitely an illogical assumption! 36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. But why did He say this: 11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? John 18:11 Sin brings separation from God, that separation which the Son never knew until this time, the thought of that was unbearable to Him but He had to bear it for you. Disciples slept.Did Jesus really need the disciples to protect Him? NO How do I know this? He had Angelic protection available if He wanted it: Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? Matthew 26:53,54 He wanted the scriptures that prophesied about His death for you to be fulfilled! This is clear enough!!! No more indicates that they were originally prepared for a fight but no more, as ordered by Jesus.Very wrong that!!! It seems that the writers, either had no knowledge of what had happened or they making this story up on purpose. So said the pharisees and elders. Are you one? Questions:The disciples of course! Besides, Jesus after His resurrection was with them for forty days Acts 1:3. 2. Everyone was asleep. How is he writing this story when everyone was asleep?See answer to (1) 3. How does a sleeping man know what Jesus pbuh was doing and what he was saying in his prayer?See answer to (1). Besides, Jesus already said He will send the Holy Spirit that, among other things, will: 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you John 16:14 4. What was Jesus pbuh praying for if not asking for help to not get crucified? Not when He knew that is why He was sent: even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28 5. Jesus pbuh had set the other disciples outside and far from him. Only Peter, John and James were the closest to him and they too were asleep.See answer to (1). and John 16 quoted. 6. They knew that the Romans were coming to get Jesus.Prove this! How come all of them slept at once and again and again, even after Jesus’ pbuh waking them up. What is wrong with them?Their eyes was heavy. What? Did they not sleep on the Mount of Transfiguration? 7. Jesus pbuh had told the disciples to take swords, they had only two swords with them. They were all waiting for the Roman soldiers to come. Two disciples farthest outside, some inside and John, Peter and James closest to him. If this is not positioning for war, then what is this? Why did He take them along? Let Jesus speak for Himself: And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation Luke 22:40 8. Was the swordsman, who cut off the ear, Peter?Yes. 9. Either Peter, John or James struck the Roman soldier and cut off his ear. This is brave of him. Then how come the disciples fled later on and Peter even refused to recognize Jesus and kept swearing and cursing? You cannot understand this. At one time such extreme bravery and at another, such extreme cowardice. Peter obviously didn’t go with the adrenaline as he asked Jesus before attacking. 10. Why is the man on the cross shouting "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" The Christians believe that that man gave his life deliberately but these words sound as if that man doesn't want to die on the cross. This underscores the fact that The Word was truly made flesh. An agonising death, seasoned with total separation from God is not a delight to ANY man.But He knew this was the reason why He came! Every year in Philippines, some fanatic Christians willingly hang themselves to the cross, nailing their hands and feet. They don’t shout like cowards. Why does the man on the cross (in the Bible) shout and cry like a baby?Where did you see that? Now answer these: 1. If Jesus was not crucified, why or for what preaching were the disciples persecuted? 2. If God deceived the soldiers, did He deceive the disciples too? (Elisha saw Elijah going why not the disciples see an un-crucified Christ fleeing in the clouds)? 3.If the Jews actually rejoiced saying,"we have killed the Messiah" then they should have rejoiced when the disciple preached same! Why not? 4. The disciples were all huddled together for fear of the Jews whence came the power and zeal to preach everywhere at the expense of their lives? 5. That passage says Jesus said the Scriptures on His death must be fulfilled, what do you claim about those prophecies? Still recorded in the Bible/OT used by the Israelites today? 6. Of Whom does this prophecy speak referring to a Second coming: 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Zechariah 12:10 7. Or what does this mean: And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Isaiah 53:9 |
cckris:Actually, I am not too surprised. Most so called christians today would not stand the haranguing of communists. Why? They hardly read their Bibles and are therefore easy prey and will fall for anything! |
Empiree:No problem, still your opinion. |
In the light of this bill below and the revenue it promises,I doubt if this one will make any progress on its journey to being passed into law: Plans to introduce a new tax on communication services underway |
Grace enables us to serve God acceptably: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: Hebrews 12:28 |
Empiree:The Gospel of Luke was written by the same writer of Acts, Luke the physician. If you say it is a junk, no problem. Once again, it is your opinion. |
The writer of this failed 'gospel' is the forerunner of those that try to claim Bible prophecies and promises for their religion and its founder! That's why they will cleave to it! |
Empiree:No, but it was your post and you honestly said it was your opinion. Now if readers dont see that, they'll read as thought you stated a well researched fact. Apologies if you feel unfairly treated. Evidences are glaring. It is up to you to do the needful. You might be a good candidate to debate with ACADIP openly. Perhaps, your eyes will come to light at the end of debate.Who is Acadip? |
tsolah247:A very simple one, for what teaching were the disciples persecuted by the Jews? |
facheux:Where are the instructions on how to beat your slave? |
vooks:Yes, that's my comment not from the site. |
Society in all ramifications has evolved/metamorphosed over time. The Employer - employee relationship we have today has it starting point at slavery.I stand to be corrected (with verifiable facts). For example, medicine, surgery etc like we know it today was not the same in the past! Likewise justice and economical processes. It will therefore be anachronistic (for scoffing purposes of course) to judge a primordial issue (that later metamorphosed) using today's standards! In fact, the laws on how to treat slaves, inter alia, found in the OT appears to me to have been the first of its kind then! Moses alluded to this in Deuteronomy 4:6. Besides, some principles from the OT and NT on this issue are still applicable today! |
ValentineMary:Show us where that is in the Book! |
vooks:Very well: ◄ 5485. charis ► Strong's Exhaustive Concordance grace, favor: From chairo; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude) -- acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy) http://biblehub.com/strongs/greek/5485.htm This definition establishes the fact that Salvation is an interplay of mercy and grace, the former deals more with the past and cancels the debt and that justly, the latter gives strength and power for the future! |
Empiree:A lot go wrong when we close our eyes to fact and talk authoritatively based on personal opinions! The book denies and affirms that Jesus is the Messiah! Error will always fail to fully cover its tracks. In as much Gospel of Barnabas denies Sonship and Lordship of Jesus, it will be used by muslims becuse that aspect is in harmony with true message of Jesus and Islam. simple, isnt.Another personal opinion being voiced as though it is a fact! Since you seem not to bother about understudying, at least go here first: https://www.nairaland.com/2912069/gospel-barnabas-laid-rest. But you believe other Gospels that deny prophets of God not being prophets, like Solomon etc. You believe in blasphemous passages in other Gospels ridiculing God and His messangers like accusing a prophet of incest, being drunk and the list goes on. So I ask, what's the difference?which gospels are those? You forget these are histories and the nation in question know and have some of these as part of it handed down by their ancestors!!! How come a 600 AD person will think he can edit a nation's history Unfortunately, this is your assignment. You hold it to yourself to research on it. There is a reason is it called Revised Standard versionResearch? I knew what I was saying when I said it is not your forte! You made the claim, so prove it |
Grace is a permanent, irreversible provision, agreed! But we only access grace by faith (Romans 5:1-3) and that faith is not permanent! We are called to hold fast the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end! The end of our faith is only realised when we hold fast! by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God Romans 5:2 receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:9 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; Hebrews 3:14 That shows a condition! |

Muafrika2: Peritus:Thanks a lot sirs!!! This,I believe, illustrates Grace: 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Romans 8:11,13 God, by His Spirit with our cooperation through faith, working in us to mortify the flesh and its deeds and quickening us with the God-kind of Life enabling us to walk in practical holiness which we could NEVER do in our strength! |
Empiree:For a book that is outrightly condemned by Christians, and not in the Bible, but praised by a large cross-section of muslims (before the contradictions against Islam in it were discovered,) this is a discrepancy that has nothing to do with the Bible. We should rather wonder why the wide acceptance by muslims without knowing its contents! This smacks off desperation. Sch8200:It denies the Messiah being Jesus, do you believe that? There are better ways to seek for truth! Holding on to a book like this for ANY reason reflects badly on those who do so. Bunch of them. Go back to the thread we recently had debate. We made lots of references thereMention them and what/how the RSV claims to correct. I dont normally quote your Quran nor copy and paste from web since I dont know much except for the ones gleaned from NL; however, the Bible and its origin, the battles for truth and the miraculous preservation is not your (or any NL muslims') forte hence I would not that we waste time on that! |
Since peace is one of the expression of the fruit of the Spirit, and we are enjoined to let this peace (of the Spirit) rule in our hearts such that a loss of that peace (when we sin/grieve the Spirit) makes our hearts trouble/condemn us in which case our prayers are hindered, since that peace and its absence is by the Spirit's moderation, then indeed He convicts us when we go wrong/sin to help us retrace our steps if we will: Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers] Colossians 3:15 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, Galatians 5:22a 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 1John 3:20,21 Now any believer who sins and still claims to retain this peace is a blind reprobate. |
vooks:Thanks, I prefer a contextual study of the usage of the Word. That tells us what God had in mind and what Grace does for us. A word study denies the word its contextual usage and may be a breeding ground for error. For example, the use of umerited favour definition does not agree with some bible texts where the word is used. |
Demmzy15:You are getting me wrong. The Levites could only marry virgins who are levites from the tribe of Levi meaning there was no way they could have used the captives from another nation, carnally. The Lord's share was given to Moses and Eleazar, it is the duty of the priest to present them to the Lord according to the underlined part i.e it is for the lord and not Eleazar or the Levites just the way Gold were presented by moses and eleazer in 31:52that's your assumption. Read that passage with respect to the punctuation marks. And Moses gave the tribute, which was the Lord’s heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses. Numbers 31:41 Num 31:52 All the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds that Moses and Eleazar presented as a gift to the LORD weighed 16,750 shekels.in the OT, all such presents to the Lord (called holy things) belonged to the priests simple. That is why at those times when Israel forsook God and made no offerings, the Levites etc had to leave the Temple to fend for themselves. As you have clearly seen it was presented to Lord not to the Levites. One wonders what a God would use gold forthe penultimate post answers this. Are you kidding me?quote the reference that expressedly says that. And back it up with other references on the same issue so that you wont be guilty of twisting a single verse! Isn't that strange? And what dignity do you talk about, married women are killed because they had sex with their husbands while the fighters keep virgins to themselves!we are talking of POW here. Israel too suffered the same fate when they merited it. Read Deut 21:10-13 for marriage to POWs. Permit me to say the Syrians were sensible and more civilized than them.Proove this using clear historical sources! And show us where Isrealites used kid girls for sex slavery especially where the law permitted them. The bible even allows fathers to sell their daughters as female slaves, if this can happen between blood relatives what then do you expect from a captive of War. Women were taken against their wills after slaying their whole nation and then married to Hebrew soldiers to serve as sex all in the name of marriage! You appear obsessed with sex slavery yet you cannot show ONE case in the Bible! All are your biased assumptions sans proof. Compare the highlighted with what Deuteronomy 21:10-13 says and see the depth of prejudice you have! 10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the Lord thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive, 11 and seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; 12 then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; 13 and she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife. Deuteronomy 21:10-13 Does this suggest sex slavery or child molestation? |
Empiree:Because the fraud it is is manifest to Christians and Muslims alike. Besides, Barnabas' gospel is not the Bible. A 'gospel' that commences calling itself the "Gospel of Jesus the Christ" and goes further to say Jesus was not the Messiah is a re-definition of the word fraud! The liar that forged the book did not know Christ meant Messiah! Go understudy the book and what some of your ustadh are saying about it before you fight for it! How about Gospel Of Judas, ever heard of that? . It defers with kjv and others as well. Havent you guys no sense to have figured this out. King James deficiencies gave birth to RSV. And yet you guys still telling us bible is the truth?Such as? |
DeathStroke007:This is ironical! You show the truth using the failed 'gospel of Barnabas'! |
Examine yourself! Avoid the peddlers of false grace that openly fraternise with the world! 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4 |
DeathStroke007:Do the mathematics yourself. Besides, the clarification of how it was written and compiled as given by others previously should be of help. Should you repeat this question, I would not answer. |
Demmzy15:Okay I see where the 32 comes from: And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the Lord'S tribute was thirty and two persons. 41 And Moses gave the tribute, which was the Lord'S heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses. Numbers 31:41,42 Meaning they were given to the priests who are just like the Levites and the strict laws on marriage etc applies to them. Through the OT there is nothing like sex slavery using captives! In fact, if anyone was interested in a woman among the POW, there were laid down procedures to be followed, procedures that respects the dignity of the woman in question! @underlined, nothing points to that direction. The levites got 8000 virgins with other booties, which was half of the children of Israel. Concerning what they used the virgins for, that's laughable. Are you trying to say the virgins was collected just to stare at?You will have to prove contrary! If a nation like Syria would use such only as a servant to the mistress how much more a nation that had such laws -Israel: And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. 3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. 2Kings 5:2,3 Even the syrians did not use kid girls as sex slaves! Child marriages are full in the bible, we in fact debated it last year.Show me ONE therein. |
THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD IS WRONG! We dont have 'Pillars of Christianity'. That is only used in your religion- 5 pillars of Islam. The Jesus we know started preaching at 30. Did not Jesus read Isaiah in Luke 4? Is it not in the Bible? Did Jesus not commission the 12 as those that would testify of Him because they were with Him at the beginning of His public ministry? |
DeathStroke007:Read this quote from a thread and note the dates: Now the "Waldensian," or "Vaudois" Bibles stretch from about 157 to the 1400s AD. The fact is, according to John Calvin's successor Theodore Beza, that the Vaudois received the Scriptures from missionaries of Antioch of Syria in the 120s AD and finished translating it into their Latin language by 157 AD. This Bible was passed down from generation, until the Reformation of the 1500s, when the Protestants translated the Vaudois Bible into French, Italian, etc. This Bible carries heavy weight when finding out what God really said. John Wesley and Jonathan Edwards believed, as most of the Reformers, that the Vaudois were the descendants of the true Christians, and that they preserved the Christian faith for the Bible-believing Christians today. |
Demmzy15:And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord. Numbers 31:30 Could the levites marry them or use them carnally? NEVER! According to the law, Levites could only marry LevitesLeviticus 21:13-15 their standard of holiness was higher than that expected for others. In fact, they could only marry virgins! The 32 virgins went to the Levites. Inasmuch as NOBODY has been able to prove that there were child marriages in the Bible and/or use of women as sex slaves, and since the Levites could only marry fellow levites, the POWS were to strictly to serve. |
DeathStroke007:The highlighted is very wrong. |
PastorAIO:Regarding your accusation of me twisting your words, kindly do a call and response quote of what you said and how I twisted it. |
