Aba comes to mind. Why won't I compare our cities to Rome and venice/Florence?......... Sweetguy25: You're not kidding me. Lagos was a protectorate of the British government. No south east state was once a protectorate of the GB. Lagos state has been the capital of Nigeria for over fifty years and they inflow of FDI into lagos cannot be matched by any other west african city. The state governments are reaping the benefits of an over pampered British and Nigerian protectorate and nothing else. Over 80% of what we know today as Lagos was not pampered by anybody and suffered just like the rest of Nigeria, maybe even worse... due to the massive population pressure from all over the country. Alimosho, The largest LGA in Lagos is a typical example. as well as a tonn of others. Alimosho was established in 1945 and it was under the then western region. Majority who dominate Alimosho were the Egbados. The area is very rich in culture, prominent amongst which are Oro, Igunnu and Egungun Festivals annually celebrated. Aside the cultural heritages, majority of the inhabitants of the council area are Islamic and Christian faithful. However, Yoruba language is widely spoken in the community. Bla bla bla bla https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alimosho |

Sweetguy25: 1. The strategic importance and development of Lagos has nothing to do with the leadership of the south westerners. Before Awolowo ruled the west, Lagos has had over four white governors. Lagos is over a 100 years old and south westerners have not led lagos for more than 40 years. That investors flock to Lagos and its neighboring states today, has very little to do with the leadership or cultures the indigenous south westerners. Like I said earlier, they flock to lagos because their market availability.[/b] lagos Island (The old FCT) was ruled by four white governors not Lagos state. Some Entire SE and SS cities as we know them today such as Enugu, Port harcourt, and Umuahia owe their existence to white british administrators. The development of Lagos since the FCT was oved to Abuja over 24 years ago has been largely state government indigenous and not FG driven. 2. You should not forget that the south east was once the east, which consisted of the south east and south south. so?? South West was once Western region, which comprised of 8 states as well. |

I think it is now becoming a known fact all of Nairaland, that anything Igbos on here say should not be taken with any seriousness, because they are 90% of the time purely sentimental or just flatout inaccurate! MorrowCaligari: I think in Bauchi especially and gombe, most of them are bilingual, but taraba and adamawa, thats where there a lot who only speak fulfulde. Though i have fulbe friends and former classmates from Adamawa and Taraba, but they all speak hausa and fulfulde, i thought its because they grew in the north west but surprisingly most of their family members also speak hausa. its really hard to come by a pullo who doesnt speak hausa but i'll still give them a generous 20-25%.
why yes, yes i am. It is hard to see any group infact in the NW or NE, who does not have a knowledge of Hausa..... Not just Fulanis. you are right about the Adamawa-Taraba and the Bauchi-Gombe distinction, within the North East. Yobe is also in the category of Bauchi-Gombe. In the North West, like I mentioned earlier, Kebbi-Sokoto have the most Fulfulde speakers. In the North Central, Benue has the most Fulani speakers. Not surprising since it is just West of Taraba and South of Bauchi-Plateau. Overall, I would say 20-25% of Nigerian Fulanis speak Fulfulde. Not surprising, since most Fulanis of Nigeria are urban North-Westerners. I was thinking if you were from the North, from the way you discussed the issue in depth. |

MorrowCaligari: Lol! Okay, but it is interesting how the Fulbe of Kwara speak Yoruba fluently, it was almost like a magic trick, but I think there were some yoruba's amongst them. Possibly assimilated into the Fulbe culture. The Fulanis of Interior Gombe, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi, Southern Kaduna, Yobe, and Adamawa in my experience speak the most Fulfulde. (50% Bilinguals) Surprisingly, about 15% of those in Sokoto and parts of Kebbi States in the NW still speak it. Kano-Katsina-Northern Kaduna-Jigawa is almost exclusively Hausa. In the Middle Belt, states of Kwara and Niger it is a mixed bag. Are you from the North? |

Nigerians will not tell us how to gain our independence. yorubas can countinue to fool themselves. Today they want Biafra, tommorow they don't want it and kanu must jailed bla bla bla. How many of them can bet their lives that this sh1thole country will last forever?
Nigeria was created and sustained by superpowers who helped nigeria to win the 66' war. Biafra should start making highlevel commitment with superpowers too. The key to the disintegration of this sh1thole lies in the hands of it's white creators. The yorubas, hausas are useless to the Biafra course. When the white creators says it's over, it is over. Biafra must make concessions to the world powers. Erudite Biafrans who have the ears of the world like Chimamanda, Emegweali, Chuka umuna, and co must start talking for posterity sake. I'm very sure some world powers with good conscience know that that country is a big for nothing cesspit that spills blood everyday. nigeria will not live forever, i am certain of that. Nothing lasts forever.... newsflash. And Nigeria won't be the first. There is a reason people say 'Long live Nigeria, Long live America, Vive Le France, Viva Italia', and not: Nigeria or USA or Italy or France shall exist to all eternity. It is funny how you guyz keep on talking about the Yorubas who do not support biafra... Is it their obligation to support it or what? If 100% of igbos do not support Biafra, why then should majority of Yorubas do? |

owobokiri: That mosque needs to be demolished... It must be razed down COMPLETELY or turned into a pigsty.. I dont care what you guys think but that is igboland. We are not muslims and we should thank our stars we are not. . What it means is that we dont have to deal with all the deblitating sharian idiocy that characterise islamic existence. Thats why our beurifull women are free, thats why we seldom shed blood and thats why there has never been any incident of suicide bombing in our land. .. To now keep quiet and allow our more humane culture get polluted with some arabic imports that add nothing in terms of modernising our cultural tools, all in the name of political correctness is not just dumb, it is a sin against our fallen heroes... That silly mosque biult at the center of the biggest market in igboland must be torn down immediately and all sundry worshippers told to go to Markurdi or something for their unproductive jumat whatever.. We have to be very cocky here and we have to be arrogantly assertive on this one..... Muslim inroads into igboland MUST BE CONFRONTED head on and very vigourously too. We have enough christian dogmas to deal with, adding another layer of supersititious existence improves nothing in terms of our march towards ultimate modernisation. I hope i made myself very clear... surprise surprise!! Why am I not surprised.... You are the same people who cry and scream the most, whenever the IPOB equivalent up north burns churches...... |

For 50 years, you and your dubious fathers have been treating eastern Nigeria as some kind of conquered territory and now all of a sudden, you feel your glory days are under attack and you are trying to conceal your mischief with all that sterile rants about "hate speech" bla bla bla bla... What is kanus hate speach compared to Buharis hate policies Get of ma Biafran dikc ahbeg... We will get to the promise land on our own terms. Hold Kanu there... It is now very obvious that his capture and subsequent detention are by far the best things that have happened to the Biafran movement. We will never rest till we make the zoo a hellish hole for those who see Biafra as a cause that must be arrested.. Buhari said worse but he is your hero.. explain that vintage mischief for your readers. Treating "Eastern Nigeria" like conquered territory...... Is this what you guyz tell yourselves everyday? ... first it was being scared about loosing so called oil revenue lubricating a subsidized life.... I made you realize that the Average nigerian sees nothing of these earnings you talk about - which is being hoarded in perpetual kleptocracy by elites from every corner of the country, Including those of your holier than thou 'eastern region' which always likes to yell 'we are the only victims of bad governance in Nigeria'. Then you went on ranting about conquered territory, the same conquered territory of Eastern Nigeria which got two time support to produce the president of FGN and several senate presidents, including now 2 international airports, several free trade zones, about 4 smaller sea ports, several depots, and 9 state capitals . You are just confused. And yes, there is something called hate speech, grab a book and read up. I have no business with how you go on your wild goose chase, as far as you keep my people out of your haterade. Why won't you label Buhari's policies as "hate policies", Is it because he didn't chose to surround himself and fill up his cabinet with 'Easterners' like Jonathan? |

zendy: Funny Nigerians
Many Nigerians don't know the law. It is not possible to jail anyone in any democratic country for what they say, no matter if the person called for nuclear bomb. I challenge any Nigerian to show me where it says "talking is s crime" in the constitution. I challenge any a Nigerian to give me one example where a person was jailed in Nigeria for what they said. Just one example! So it doesn't matter what Kanu said, even if he said he is going to kill every Nigerian, he cannot be jailed for what he said. The only time a person can possibly be jailed for what they said is if the commited perjury under oath or if the leaked information under the official secret act. So anyone who is saying that Kanu should be jailed based on talking is wasting their time. Go to France or Germany and call for the destruction of jews and see what will happen to you. My friend, hate speech is not part of your 'Freedom of speech' And not only did Kanu just say things, he actually acted on them.... He made violence inciting speeches, and also solicited for arms to destroy the 'Zoo' - What national government will seat back and watch all that unfold right in its wake? |
