According to reports, the father of former Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, Chief Suarau Olayiwola Alani Bankole has reportedly married a new wife. The identity of the apple in Chief Bankole’s eye is said to be a 25 year old graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University (O.O.U) with the name, Bola. According to exclusive information obtained by Yemojanews, Chief Bankole who holds the Yoruba aristocratic titles of Oluwo Iporo Ake and Seriki Jagunmolu of Egbaland along with few of his friends went to Bola’s parent house in Ikorodu, Lagos last month where a quiet and brief traditional marriage was conducted. “They brought just four vehicles, it was a very quiet ceremony and they didn’t want anybody to know about it”, our source stated. Interestingly, investigations conducted by Yemojanews revealed that none of Chief Bankole’s family members is aware of the development. Meanwhile, we gathered that Bola is now pregnant for Chief Alani Bankole and we learnt that the respected politician is spoiling the young lady with much affection. Efforts to confirm the story from immediate family members was futile as those we contacted claimed ignorant of the new wife but said they have ‘heard something like that’. Chief Alani Bankole who is in his 70s has about five wives and does not live under the same roof with any of them. http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/07/17/dimeji-bankoles-father-70-impregnates-25-year-old-woman/ Source: Naij.com |

WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration has approved the first drug shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection, a milestone in the 30-year battle against the virus that causes AIDS. The agency approved Gilead Sciences' pill Truvada as a preventive measure for people who are at high risk of acquiring HIV, such as those who have sex with HIV-infected partners. Gilead Sciences Inc. has marketed Truvada since 2004 as a treatment for people who are infected with the virus. But company studies have shown the drug can prevent people from contracting HIV when used as a precautionary measure. A three-year study found that daily doses cut the risk of infection in healthy gay and bisexual men by 42 percent, when accompanied by condoms and counseling. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/48198452/ns/today-today_health/t/fda-approves-first-pill-help-prevent-hiv/#.UARZKsVQTy1 |

Billyonaire: PDP can win Lagos. The way Fashola and Tinubu are handling Lagos at this second term is nothing to write home about. The Lekki Road was a Public Private Partnership and I am paying toll every time I pass. What has the government done for me with my tax money ? The ACN government has not done anything to improve me or my neighborhood with the Tax money or from the Federal Allocation apart from building 5 star hotels, Airlines, private properties etc for themselves. I dont know about other parts of Lagos but VI-Lekki axis, all our projects are PPP projects, Simple. If PDP will take away the 30 yrs toll arrangement, I will vote for PDP, I remain unbiased.Beaf shut up I know you very well. Oh, so it's your PDP government at the national level that has done things to improve you? Abeg, make i hear word jare. |
Rest in peace, but they were already trending the way of our currupt past leaders. Mimiko the governor of the year? I laugh in mimiko. |
Three leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who traveled to Abuja to bestow a controversial “Governor of The Year” award on Governor Olusegun Rahman Mimiko of Ondo State died Friday in a ghastly accident. Several other student leaders reportedly sustained injuries, with one said to be in critical condition. The NANS leaders, who were from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, and the Ondo State School of Midwifery were killed in an automobile accident near Emure Ile along Owo Road. They were returning from Abuja after attending a ceremony organized by a faction of NANS to declare Mr. Mimiko “Governor of the Year.” SaharaReporters learnt that the student leaders were traveling in a bus donated to them by Governor Mimiko. Among the dead students were Dapo Awopegba of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and Abiodun Akintola of Adeyemi College of Education. SaharaReporters was not able to ascertain the name of the dead student from the Ondo State School of Midwifery. The students perished when their car got involved in an accident at Emure Ile junction in Ondo State. A spokesman for the Ondo State police command, Aremu Adeniran, attributed the accident to over-speeding. However, a student source told SaharaReporters that the deplorable condition of the highway was a factor in the accident. The source disclosed that the Emure-Ile junction had claimed numerous lives in the past. Their corpses have been deposited in a morgue while those who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Owo. In recent years, NANS has become highly politicized, its officials often turning into ready and willing tools in the hands of politicians. In a sharp deviation from the past when the organization articulated the interests of the poor and downtrodden in Nigeria, many recent NANS’ leaders gleefully support corrupt governments and their often draconian policies. Speaking from Ibadan, a former official of NANS decried the fact that many of the organization’s leaders have adopted the pastime of organizing dubious award jamborees for Nigerian government officials. Students of the Federal University of Technology in Akure today shut down major highways in the state to protest the death of their colleagues. Governor Mimiko made a late-night visit to the campus to calm down the restive students. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/nans-leaders-involved-award-scam-perish-road-accident

A noisy neighbor is one that is seen as being on someone’s toes, quick to oppose, does not see anything good out from the other, nosy, picky at every presumed misgiving and opportunistic. When the phrase ‘our noisy neighbor’ is mentioned, what first bears to mind is the ever continuous renewed rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City. To Manchester United, Manchester City is their noisy neighbor that disturbs the serenity of their environment. The area of emphasis in this piece is certainly not about English premiership or football. It is clearly about the phenomenon ‘our noisy neighbors’ in Niaja. You would recall that at the advent of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, there had been no love lost between the executive and legislative arm of government respectively. It was most visible during the tenure of late Senator [Dr.] Chuba Okadigbo as the senate president as well as Hon. Ghali N’abba as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. To the executive arm headed by the then president of Nigeria, President Olusegun Obasanjo, the legislature was to them ‘their noisy neighbors around the three-arm zone. Coming from the military era, where we had administrators and dictators; no body questioned the authority of the leadership. Orders were given and were strictly to be obeyed. Decisions were taken and forced down the throats of the citizenry like water forcing down tablets of medicine to the stomach. The executives saw the legislatives as people who were nosy and prying into the business of the executives with impunity, all in the name of oversight functions. Imagine the summons and defense for every single action and activity. What of the budgetary defense before approvals and distortions. All these were entirely strange to the system, especially coming from our military background and style of governance. During the botched third-term bid of former president Obasanjo, one man at the green chamber that was at the vanguard of the opposing voice to that bid, was the leader of the integrity group, Hon. Farouk Lawan that rallied his colleagues in ensuring that that ambition never saw the light of the day. This was a big offensive on the alleged benefactor of botched third-term bid. Could he have taken his pound of flesh as seen from his whistle blowing role that symbolized the entrant of this whole faroukgate saga being presently playing out. Our noisy neighbors [National Assembly] have since the beginning of the 7th Assembly had different kinds of public probes. Summoning all and sundry that are relevant to the matter at the fore and even threatening to issue warrants of arrest to any that dared not to appear before her or trying to play hanky panky games. Of recent they intend to summon the president. This noisy neighbor no get respect o. little wonder why the monster called corruption is now the veritable tool to clip the wings of this noisy neighbors. There is a conspiracy theory making rounds that for daring to go against the CABALs, precipitated this offensive on Hon. Farouk Lawan a member of ‘our noisy neighbors’. A script had to be written, directed and produced with a semblance of style similar to what we see in Nollywood. Check out the movie strategy…….. -Every man has a price. Let him give us his price [$2.6million]. -Give him a part payment. -Let our grand patron make an assertion about our noisy neighbors to the hearing of the media. This will raise the expected dust. -Our noisy neighbors will come find out why. -Blow the whistle. -It becomes a public knowledge. -Allegations and counter allegations will fly through the air. -The public are pitched on two-sides. -Nobody knows who to believe. -The drama continues. -The report gradually goes the way of others and it becomes good enough for historians. The results are thus called: Our pound of flesh has been taken against the smallish big mouthed Mr. Integrity for putting up a ‘Mr. Clean façade’. Dog chop Dog. Business continues as usual for the CABALs. The decibel of noise emanating from our noisy neighbors is reduced. Mission accomplished. Sealed, executed and directed by the CABALs in collaboration with the state security service. Written by Anyafo Zikora. [an architect and social commentator].
