Obaseki’s track record and achievements in 4 few years speak eloquently of the good quality of his leadership.
His opponent for the party ticket on the other hand is an unstable cross carpeter seemingly desperate for power, currently being prosecuted in court for corruption & not even a registered member of the APC in accordance with the constitution of the Party.
These are the issues that are worth interrogating by enlightened minds for us to make progress as a nation.

How do you know that his opponent is not a registered member of the party? Just because Obaseki’s deputy came out to say that? You will see that majority of those advising Obaseki wrongly will leave his camp few days to the primary.
Ize-Iyamu was part of the founding members of APC in Edo,
Obaseki is having issues with the party structure in the state and He can’t win election on his own when the party is not in accord.
Let’s even forget all Obaseki done to Oshiomhole.
He divided the party in the state with his dictatorial attitude.

Please put the Obasanjo & Atiku matter in the proper context! Stop trying to compare oranges with Apples. Obasanjo‘s clear position was that between Atiku & Buhari, he chose Atiku.

The choice before Edo citizens is a Governor with visible track records of achievements and the one called a thief by his now godfather Oshiomole. he is still even currently facing corruption charges in court. Edo people I believe know the obvious & better choice between the two.

Was Atiku not called a thief by OBJ? Same OBJ backtracked and supported Atiku. In politics there’s no permanent Enemies.

When last did you hear Oshiomhole speak about the Edo election?
He is a former Governor and also the National Chairman of the Ruling parry in the state. So you must hear his name in the news one way or the other.

Is this not the same Ize-Iyamu Oshiomole called a thief?? Is it not the same Ize-Iyamu currently being prosecuted for corruption allegations in court?? What has changed?? OBJ called Atiku many bad names, OBJ even said Atiku can never become the country’s president if He (OBJ) is still alive. But last year the same OBJ said Atiku is the best candidate for Nigeria and the Youths supports him.

The 14 APC HOA members Obaseki refused to inaugurate for almost a year is not enough reason for his party to deny him the second term ticket?

Remember He will be travelling inter state and the police on the highway will surely extort him if He can't provide Allocation of number plate.

So Obaseki and his Deputy are now asking Buhari to intervene on their behalf. They didn’t know that PMB is still the leader of the party when they refused to inaugurate 14 APC HOA members till date.
They forgot PMB when they were attacking anybody that did not support their attack on Oshiomhole.
Same Deputy went to submit petition to IGP and also request that Oshiomhole should be arrested.
They forget that they will still contest under the party platform that have Oshiomhole as the National Chairman.
They should not play the victim card here. Let Obaseki and POI meet at the primary. Maybe the best candidate win.

The fact that Obaseki made attempt to remove a National Chairman of a party is enough for the party to suspend him. How do you go around making noise, that a party chairman elected by 36 states plus Abj has been suspended by Edo state chapter of the party? Was that not ridiculous to the party, PMB and Oshiomole enough?

You have time to reply them... Obaseki refused to Inaugurate 14 HOA members even after the National Assembly ask him to do the needful.
His Deputy went to Abuja to submit petition to the IG of police to arrest Oshiomhole.
The Depty also said that Oshiomhole need to take permission from the sitting Governor anytime He's coming to Edo.
I said it the day Abba Kyari died that Obaseki is gone.... After Oshiomhole won at the Appeal court he said he has forgiven everybody but few days after Obaseki and his praise singers were everywhere shouting and abusing Oshimhole....

I don't take Obaseki's side but we are all well aware of a Governor who moved legislative business to his residence in the Government House and removed the roof of the State House of Assembly.

Obaseki didn't learn from Ambode's mistakes... I still remember when his Deputy went to Abuja to ask the IGP to arrest Oshiomhole. The Deputy also said it on channels tv that Oshimhole should take permission from the Sitting Governor before entering the state. Both Obaseki and his Deputy forgot that they will still need Oshimhole's NWC for their second term ticket.

These are not newly acquired Buses... They were purchased by Amaechi some were used for as free school bus. Parcked close to Government house gate after SPAR. Nice gesture by the Government but which route will be buses plying? Will the buses available in all the 23 LGAs or just Obio-Akpor and Phalga as usual?.

Just 4 years ago, Oshiomole released a canon about Ize -Iyamu which is a criminal allegation. He said "Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a known culitst - poured conc acid on a fellow human being, is that the type of man you want as your governor?" NEWSFLASH - Oshiomole was right.

He continued, "the so called Pastor Ize-Iyamu was a major part of the looting machine that impoverished Edo State from 1999 - 2007 in the Lucky Igbinedion administration and Lucky said if Ize-Iyamu wins, it is like (Lucky) is given a third term to rule Edo State" NEWSFLASH - Oshiomole was right.

In 8 years of the Igbinedion era, no single road was rehabilitated, no major project was done - all funds were looted, thugs intimidated every sane voice in the land and the state was in deep dudu, with workers owed salaries for months and years, Ize-Iyamu as Chief of staff was life the de facto Governor - he called the shots. Luck's father, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and Osagie's father - Late Chief Robert Osayande Ize-Iyamu were like siemens twins, wherever you see one. you see the other and they are blood relatives

so to those who do not know what is going on - are the ones spewing bs on nairaland - this is why I said in a previous thread, APC has a lot to gain backing Obaseki than Oshiomole because the Edo people, especially the Binis do not want Ize-Iyamu. This info I am giving you here freely is a hard core fact in the streets in Benin City and other towns in the state

Ordinarily, Oshiomole as a matter of political ethics should recuse himself from the state primaries. In Law, there is a maxim called "Nemo Judex in Causa Sua" - you cannot be a judge in your own case. It is not done!!!

However - it is Nigeria, where the word "ethics" is an aberration. So, let Oshiomole take the primaries, Obaseki like I predicted, if he runs in a small party like KOWA or Labour, he will defeat Ize -Iyamu easily, I WILL BET MY 2 TESTICLES.

Obaseki has the financial war chest to make it happen, He is the incumbent Governor and he has the name recognition - and IZE-IYAMU is not a choice the state want to risk having because of his records.

It is game on!

Obaseki knows that he can’t win under another party, that’s the reason he is trying to have the primary his way. Remember what happened to Amosun and Okorocha’s candidates when they were the incumbents in their respective states. Obaseki can’t stand the heat that will come from the Federal if he try that because Edo election is the only election that day unlike the 2019 general elections that Amosun and Okorocha were busy rigging their candidates.
I am not supporting Oshiomohle or Obaseki. But I am just telling you the fact about the situation on ground. Obaseki is fighting a lost battle because before the date of the primary some of his loyalist will start resigning. Remember he did not have the majority of the HOA in his camp. Those he refused to swear in were still holding that against him. He should have wait till he win the Second term before he start this unnecessary fight. The forces against him are more than those in his support. The day Abba Kyari died was the day Obaseki lost everything.

The question I want to ask you is that. Are those that are going to vote in the Direct Primary not Edo indigenes? Why is Obaseki trying to rewrite the Party’s constitution to Favour himself? There are 2 factions in Edo APC already and the party constitution says whenever there are factions the NWC have the right to organize Governorship Primary also it’s the same NWC that will submit the names of party flag bearers to INEC. Obaseki didn’t think all this through before he starts fighting Oshiomohle.
The day the Abuja court remove Oshiomohle, Obaseki was everywhere celebrating not knowing that there’s appeal. Even after Oshiomohle said he has forgiven those that tried to remove him from office. Few weeks later Obaseki’s Commissioner came out to insult Oshiomohle.
Obaseki did not have good advisers but praise singers.
Let us be sincere to ourselves the chances of Obaseki winning the party ticket is 30-35%.

please can somebody elite me between direct and indirect primary that everybody will vote in his/her ward and go and the ones that different people will come from different wards and local government gathering together with different sickness and diseases like covid 19 in hotel to vote in state capital which one is perilous

Direct Primary - All registered party members in the state will vote in their respective wards. The posters of the contestants will be paste and the members will line up behind the poster of their preferred candidate, counting will take place and announcement made to the public. This happens in the whole ward of the state. Example is the APC primary in Lagos state between Ambode and Sanwo-olu.

Indirect Primary- is when selected delegates were picked from each ward and send to the state capital. They’re gathered at a place and secret ballot voting takes place. Example of indirect primary is the PDP presidential election won by Atiku.

The Last Lady did not say anything about the allegation the guy leveled against her. Is it true she travelled from Imo to Ondo state when there’s inter-State lockdown? It’s a shame that we have people like this in corridors of power.

there were 3 States in Nigeria then who had real tsunami like gubernatorial elections

Anambra - the home state of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe had Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo of NPP, who was running for re-election against Chief CC Onoh (Bianca Ojukwu’s father) who was the NPN candidate

In Oyo - a state controlled by Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s party had Chief Bola Ige of the UPN, who was running for re-election against Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo of the NPN

In Ondo, Pa Michael Adekunle Ajasin of UPN was running for re-election against Prince Akin Omoboriowo of the NPN

In all 3 scenarios, the incumbents were defeated due to alleged wide scale rigging by the NPN (the party of President Shagari) being supervised by then Chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) Justice Ovie-Whiskey

HOWEVER - all 3 newly elected governors had one problem. They could not resume and function as the newly elected governors because they lacked legitimacy. The people didn’t want them - and it was obvious. Even Pa Ajasin once mocked Omoboriowo saying,

“what is the elected governor of Ondo State doing outside Akure - he should come and resume work if he is convinced he won the election” -

this was the issue with cases lingering at the supreme court and excessive violence until the military coup of December 31,1983 when then Brigadier Sani Abacha announced the coup that ended Shagari’s government

Oshiomole must understand that those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it

if the people really want Obaseki than Ize Iyamu, as it is widely believed in Edo State, then trying to force Obaseki out through electoral primary manipulation will only be counter productive. it will lead to incessant violence and blood shed and the aftermath is not what Oshiomole wants to imagine.

whatever he does, Oshiomole should realize he is not a Bini man and when push comes to shove -when the chips are down - the average bini man will never abandon their own. Let him go and read the history of what happened to Professor Ambrose Alli and Dr. S.O. Ogbemudia in the 1983 Bendel State gubernatorial election. As good as Ali was, when it was time to decide, the bini man voted for Ogbemudia.

Oshiomole will be consumed at the end because the average bini man will not abandon their son when faced with unprecedented arrogance from a non bini person. EVERYONE BORN OF A WOMAN IN EDO STATE KNOWS THAT THE BINIS CONTROL EDO STATE POLITICS!

The reason for the battle between an ex godfather and exvgodson in edo is that the godfather want to be bossing his godson around like Lagos state where one ex gov is dictating who becomes the governor and lawmakers respectively.Another reason is that the godfather want to be collecting pension and be getting contract award to him in the state just like bourdilon.But the godson refused.So he want the ex godson replace by all means necessary.If Edo people allow godfatherism in Edo state they have themselves to blame for any misfortune that comes before them.

Even in America and UK there are Godfathers in politics. The question you should ask yourself is that why did Obaseki accept to be Godson before the election? Why can’t he say no when the so called Godfather was working hard to make him the state Governor? You can’t separate politics and Godfatherism.

Oshiomohle and Edo APC opted for indirect primary in 2016 because there was no faction in the state APC then. But now there are 2 factions and the APC constitution gave the NWC the power to organize Governorship primaries. The best way to go is not to allow the 2 factions hold parallel primaries which is the reason the NWC choose Direct Primary. It’s unfortunate that Obaseki and his minions are fighting someone who head the NWC and that makes Oshiomohle’s work very easy to get back at Obaseki. People like this so called party chieftain misled Obaseki now they’re trying to safe their faces after pushing him to the dungeon of politics.

APC learnt from Zamfara issue and that’s the reason the NWC choose the Direct Primary. The question is why is Obaseki running up and down to the so called God fathers.

When we are saying that Obaseki can’t win this unreasonable fight his starting against Oshiomohle, the children of hate were busy calling us names. Now where are the Edo is not Lagos crew?. Where are the Obaseki is a political giant in edo crew?
As far as the primary in edo is concerned Obaseki is a forgotten story. He will run to everyone he has insulted in the last 2 years but it will be too late. PMB will tell him to obey party decision. Now Oyegun and the state party faction should be able to win him return ticket. Obaseki goofed by starting the fight because he want to control everything as a sitting Governor, but now he will not complete his dream 8 years.
