ehikwe22: He did not jump bail. He was granted bail and Buhari sent the army high commission to his house to assassinate him. Would you have stayed if an army of soldiers got sent yo assassinate you? Unfortunately in law so far he didn’t appear I. Court for trial means he jump bail. Law doesn’t listen to emotional excuses. |

Promicah: I feel overwhelmed by what just happened.
A little background information: I lived and studied in Ogun precisely before my called-up letter came. I saw Abia in my call-up letter and the next thought that crowded my mind was the hatred projected during the just concluded election.
Since I had no connection, I chose my fate and had to skip my reporting date to camp. After losing every hope of redeployment, I decided to follow the next batch.
Our driver stopped in Lokoja and we rested before we continue the next day to Abia.
I had to make a plan that when I have money, I will buy their native wear to disguise myself. Immediately I stopped at the Abia park, I entered the next bus to the orientation camp.
After our three weeks in camp, I reported to my PPA.
Yesterday, I wanted to get a recharge card from a kiosk beside the road and I met an Igbo man. He looked at me and immediately fear gripped me.
He asked me whether I was new in the area, I wanted to lie and say "no". But my mouth betrayed me.
He smiled and bought the item in the attached picture below.
What happened to us? I had to repent. Truly Nigerians are loving people. I couldn't contain my joy.
This is my first time in the southeast and just this singular act from yesterday has changed a lot about how I see Nigerians.
I know there are a lot of agitations but yesterday a Nigerian showed kindness to a Nigerian. It's officially my 1 month and 15 days in Abia.
Sir Nlfpm.od. This is my latest experience. OP If you truly Live in Ogun State, then how did you find yourself in Lokoja before getting Abia? |

Politics › Re: PEPT: Why Did Wole Olanipekun Ignore Osun Ruling To Quote Shagari Ruling Of 1979 by seanfer(m): 4:13pm On Jul 16, 2023 |
Penguin2: I knew the reference was about the FCT argument.
But these are the facts…
In 1979, the FCT was Lagos.
In 1979, the constitution in use was 1979 constitution.
But in 2023, the FCT is Abuja.
And the constitution in use is 1999 constitution which gave a special status to Abuja following the recommendation of the Committee on the FCT; this special status was not enjoyed by Lagos as FCT.
Again, the argument is not about satisfying “2/3” but about satisfying a quasi-independent provision of “25% in the FCT”.
You see why citing that Awolowo vs Shagari case is near useless to the case at hand? Judgements can be referenced no matter if the constitution used back then is outdated. Simple logic. |

DeLaRue: To be fair, if a man decides not to open his shop, isn't that in exercise of his right?
It is difficult to see what law can be said to have been broken. At the very least, you will have to prove that closing my shop equates to me supporting terrorism. Any lawyer will tell you that will be near impossible to prove in a court of law.
Other than the fact it will attract negative attention from some of their customers and some members of the public, and potentially cause retaliatory attacks from a few thugs, and may be some landlords refusing to renew shop owners tenancies, not much will happen.
That said, such a move will cause more irritation and increase mistrust amongst people to a whole new level. Nobody is saying they can’t close their shops but you and I know that some people will want to force people who refused to close shops to do their bidding and that is what may cause chaos. |

Politics › Re: Peter Obi/labour Party Vs Inec/tinubu: Respondents Final Written Address by seanfer(m): 6:08am On Jul 15, 2023 |
Spy360: The defense did not tackle the issue of results manipulation in Rivers, Benue, Imo, Lagos etc. and how the court should resolve it. If the petitioners profer their own solution, the hands of the court would be tied. They focused on the use of electronic transmission/transfer Vs manual transmission/transfer. That's not the issue of the petition but rather whether IREV should be used in case of disputes of election results. They did not even mention BVAS report. Don’t forget that the petitioners didn’t make efforts to convince the court about the result manipulations in Rivers, Benue, Imo and Lagos. All they do is dump results sheets on the floor of the court. |
