kibukila: Hello house, this has been asked several times but I need more clarification. What is the rationale of using a splitter instead of a dual Lnb in sharing one dish with 2 receivers.

Its purely to do with cost caz a 2 way splitter is cheaper and you also run a single cable until you are close to the receivers then you split the signal than running two cables all the way from the lnb however a dual lnb is more effective than a splitter and obviously it comes with cost.

So you connected the splitter directly to the Lnb and thenafter splitted the signal from the top there to the two cables? But will it work if I split in the room. That's after I've connected only one cable from the C-Band Lnb into my room and then split with two cables from the room?
Abdul010: My jsc sport is 62%, this issue of splitter i dnt knw o bt am nt having d problem in channels selection it is wat i used in splitting my single cband lnb wit my neighbor, the best splitter is 4ways supermax splitter u will v dat problem when u r using 2ways splitter which u wud encounter single drop when connected to 2 receivers. How i connected is simple just 4rm the lnb i splitted it to our different diseqc switches n we r watching different channels of the same satellite.

@ Prof Olenyi, I appreciate your explanation. I'm most grateful for your time. In fact, I should have sollicited your or any other Guru's explanation b4 buying this splitter. Sometimes dealers must be sincere. I asked for Dual view C-Band Lnb but the Man said he doesn't have it in stock. Instead, he insisted I could use the splitter for the same purpose. I didn't even know both receivers can only show the same channel at any point in time. I feel cheated this time. What pains me most is that, the Man said b4 I can use the splitter, I have to buy C-Band (single solution type). So I abandoned the C-Band Lnb I was using and bought the single solution one. Now my old Lnb is lying idle. Well, they say first fool is not a fool but second fool is................. So prof Olenyi, incase I ever use this splitter, how should I connect it? Should I connect the splitter to the first receiver or? Please teach me on how I can connect the two cables to the splitter. Many thanks
olenyi:

Not even for ''H'' or ''V'' stations. It only works for one frequency alone. The frequency of the channel on the first decoder you put on will be the only frequency/channels that will show on the second receiver. The receivers need to be on the same channel line up of the same frequency for the two to work.

Why not go for a dual view C-Band lnb.

Regards.

kwame-king:
Please I've bought a splitter. I want to connect two cables to one C-Band LNB(Single solution type). My question is, should I connect the splitter to the C-Band Lnb before connecting the two cables to the splitter? Or should I connect only one cable to the C-Band Lnb, and thereafter split the signal to the two receivers? I want explanation on how to go about with the splitter. I've read from this forum that, a splitter can't be used for a satellite which contains channels that have both H/V polarisation. I'm told unless I use it for example Multi tv whose channels have only 'V' polarization. How true is this claim? I'm using the splitter for Irib channels. I welcome more expert advice and explanation. Thanks

Sorry bruv. I wanted to be sure because one fool of a satellite wares seller kept insisting that was it or rather that it served the same purpose even tho it clearly said otherwise on the pack..

That's why I had to be a mugun to clarify.....
Which makes me even happier I insulted the mumu.

Goldrock: hello friends
who has tracked intelsat 17 before 66degree east cband?

@Twinskenny, intelsat 17 66*E is receivable with at least 2.3mtr mesh dish and above,my location is Ibadan, as a matter of fact,by the arrangement of my LNBFs, i receive intelsat 17(66*E) at exactly the same position where i pick citizen TV (62*E) with the middle LNBF having the di-electric splitter, while the C-band LNBF above without the splitter locks the intelsat 17(66*E) simultaneously, altogether i do receive close to 70 channels from that sat, although most are encrypted, however channels like Kalaighnar TV,Kalaighnar Seithigal and Angel TV (HD) etc are unencrypted.

That is a good news .were you able to receive any of the india bouquets like sony entertainment ,sun network and tata communication.
Please ,kindly reply.
Thanks

How did u join the wires at the point where it went to the rooms. Try using F-connectors for the cable ends and iron tv plugs. They are more reliable. Then use an euroster 4-way splitter for the central joint. If this doesn't work, go to ur satellite dealer and get a signal amplifier. The cheap ones will do. And connect it just after the output fron the decoder. Dis should boost the signals to the far rooms and make it clear.

Uthmanloay: Pls house my dad hav a dstv at d siting room, and i hav a television in my room and i want 2 b watching what they are watching but no decoder pls what can i do, am new here pls how can i connect it
If your tv has AV port, connect an AV wire to the decoder you can get an AV splitter (not sure that is the name) that is if d decoder don't have extra AV port and connect to your tv. That is how I did mine. Enjoy!

@ Abdul010, don't think of splitting that single lnbf let alone of doing it because if you do, you will regret killing it. Try and get youself a dual or quadral way lnbf. There are so many good lnbf out there.

What is the db of the boosters?
2 things could be wrong,
1.the splitter could be faulty so change it.
2.the cable of the last 3 rooms are not good or the distance from the booster is much or overloaded.
Thanks man,the options above make a lot of real sense,I will check it and apply your reasonings and get back to you.

I had a problem with multi-room connection of 45tvs connected to 2boosters,one is of alcad product and the other is televes. Now my problem is the last rooms about three, dropped signal;their reception is not clear as it should be.
I was thinking of pulling out their cable and connecting them at a junction from where there is a strong reception(not sure about that)so I need ur input as this is my first time of handling this kind of job o,if there are other possible options, pls let me know(booster is out of the question.
Thanks in anticipation of your generous replies.

goldid: I have ever use satellite card sharing.
Here I share  some info about card sharing .Hope you can know more about it.
In  fact, I think  it's really a way to save money.

It is designed to allow you securely split card between multiply receivers in the household. It is useful when you had more than 1 receiver in your home but you didn't want to pay monthly fee for extra card.

Only needs 1 Card splitter could sharing to 8 receivers in a household without Internet, each receiver can control and watch your own favourite channels in the meantime.

Card splitter is an Irdeto2 , Viaccess2 and Seca Mediaguard Sharing hub, With this Card splitter you can share one original smart card between all your receivers ( 4, 8 , 16 receivers or more by cascade system ) and the card splitter will connect to the digital receivers by the slave which will be insert inside the receivers cam and its work as the original card inside your receiver.

Attach the pictuture for your  review.
how does this work on married smart cards like the one for DSTV and TOP TV?
