Satellite TV Technology / Re: Satellite Card Sharing by goldid(f): 9:14am On Jun 04, 2010
I have ever use satellite card sharing.
Here I share  some info about card sharing .Hope you can know more about it.
In  fact, I think  it's really a way to save money.

It is designed to allow you securely split card between multiply receivers in the household. It is useful when you had more than 1 receiver in your home but you didn't want to pay monthly fee for extra card.

Only needs 1 Card splitter could sharing to 8 receivers in a household without Internet, each receiver can control and watch your own favourite channels in the meantime.

Card splitter is an Irdeto2 , Viaccess2 and Seca Mediaguard Sharing hub, With this Card splitter you can share one original smart card between all your receivers ( 4, 8 , 16 receivers or more by cascade system ) and the card splitter will connect to the digital receivers by the slave which will be insert inside the receivers cam and its work as the original card inside your receiver.

Attach the pictuture for your  review.

I detail everything you ll need here and how you ll go about it,first of all i dont know how many channels you want to distribute in all the rooms but that ll determine the number of receivers you ll need. Okay lets say you re working on ten channels per room. This re the materials you ll need;
10 Recivers
10 Rf modulators
1 Distribution Amplifier (alkad 45,47db preferable)
1 Drum of coaxil cable x300m
Connectors
6 Apartment amplifiers (alkad 24db preferable)
Card splitter (optional)

I ll detail how to connect each equipment in my next post,i ll also post how to make very good use of rf modulators and how to network any kind of apartment being it 10 rooms or 500 rooms without lose of signal. Also rf freq separation play important role in cable networking. Theres a possibility that i might omit some materials but then when we ll start our theory networking tutor we ll find out.

Hi all, i'm new at this and going through your thread, i believe you guys can get me out of my mess. I got 2 hitv decoders and 2 dstv decoders connecting to one single cable and dish (using a four way splitter), but on scanning through the rf connection to my tvs, i can only view 1 of each i.e, 1hitv station and 1dstv station. pls i would be very grateful if you can assist me in resolving this matter.

thanks

@ butoneday,
below is the attached picture of the the multi switch splitter we talked about today, its a 5 by 12 way splitter.

once you have this this, there wont be any need for one to be installing a 8 port lnbf, if anyone knows how much this is being sold, that person should kindly furnish the house the price its going for.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by pitodenz(m): 6:22pm On Jan 24, 2010
@ Enitan
Rf modulator does the same thing the receivers does that is converting the A/V input to rf output. But the difference is rf modulator has a kind of inbuilt amplifier which enables it to convert the picture almost like its from A/V. Another thing is that most moderators has various rf band like vhfl,vhfh and uhf.
So now the the A/V wire of the decoders re inserted into the modulators,each to one and the rf output freq is selected from the modulator not from receiver this time. Then the rf output of the modulator brings out the channels in rf mode. Note that the rf output freq must be a coaxial cable connected in the modulator rf output. All the decoders must carry the same process whereby the all wires re clustered together manually or with a splitter or rf combiner then to the distributing amplifier for distribution.
Again rf modulator determines the rf channels output not the decoder,the separation must be done in the modulators. In my own case i use digital display Astel modulator so i can see my rf freq physical the only manual adjuster there is for audio and video signal adjustment. But if u re face with manual adjusting modulators is either u leave them the very way they were already separated or u can do u separation one after the other so far u re not getting the channels interfare.

this question is directed to all experts in satellite, but peeps like enigma, george, butoneday, olofofo, pitodenz, badaru's advice will be well appreciated.

We all know this 1*8 splitters, that is 1 input and 8 outputs splitters, my question is am trying to feed in 8 RF outputs signal into the supposed output ports on the said switch, am i gonna get the whole 8 RF output signals modulated all into a signal which is to appear at the supposed input end of the splitter. In a nut shell, all am just trying to do is just to reverse the function of the supposed 1*8 switch. Is it going to work?
cos i have seen some splitters on web that is bi-directional i.e work in both directions

@ Enitan,
Let me tell you my experience. Last year around June, I lost one of my Disec switches in the night and there was no replacement at home. When I replaced the disec switch with a splitter it worked perfectly ok. I was able to connect two LNBs to the splitter and the out put straight to my receiver. It worked for about a week before I replaced the splitter with a new switch. Please try the experiment it can work.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Nobody: 7:05pm On Dec 28, 2009
Olofofo,

from the comm room, the lnb cable from the dish goes into a 4 way splitter. And these 4 outputs all go into 4 i.f amp and from one of amp the signal is splitted, so one of the splitted signal is now made to transport signal about more than 100m distance to an office. And in this office i can get the signal on my eurostar decoder to about 79% and if i connect the dstv decoder, it gets the bouquet and about 202 channels but at the point of displaying the video signal, i received an error message saying my receiver have lost dstv signal, but if i take that same decoder to an office very close to the comm room the picture comes up. So i thought if the signal from the former office is amplified at that point in the office again before going in to the decoder maybe i can step over that challenge. Whats your view?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 7:19pm On Dec 25, 2009
@Enigma,
I think you should read enitan's original post on the topic. He's dealing with DSTV decoders and each has a smart card. The company in question has no use for FTA channels as they're fully on DSTV. As we all know DSTV are very smart in that they always arrange their stations on same polarity whatever satellite they are so the issue of polarity conflict may not arise here.

@enitan,
It is strange that those DSTV decoders do not have an lnb out port. Could you give me the decoder model number? I need to check it out.
However, even if they indeed do not have an lnb out port, you could still loop them. Only this time you will need series of splitters to distribute the signal from the dish direct to all 14 decoders. This time there will be no master, no slave as all will recieve signal from the dish direct. Just get 1 pc two way splitter and 2 pcs eight way splitters. Split the original signal carrying cable from the dish into the two way splitter and split the two signals into the eight way splitter. That way you have more than 14 rg6 lnb inputs for your decoders. Hope this helps?

@george,pit,enitan,badaru &all

i want to install a paytv(hi &dstv) & a fta for a single room relaxation center.My clients however,want the fta channels to be networked to another 3 rooms.i plan using one 90cm dish with a composite lnb 4 d two paytv but where i'm stuck is connecting the other 90cm(for the fta channels) to the relaxation room & the other 3rooms considering the fact dat d relaxation rooms & d 3 adjacent rooms are like 40m apart. the 4 rooms connectd 2 d fta setup wil have just 1 decoder controlling them meaning dey can only view 1 fta channel at a time, i nid u men's expert analysis of how i can handle this & stil maximize cost

@borderline,
You need not be confused at all. Since your using two 90cm dishes, connect the output of the first 90cm to the dsvt/hitv decoders and connect the output of the FTA dish to a strong decoder. Connect the rf out port of the strong (fta) decoder to a signal booster like ALCAD and use a 4-way splitter to run the rg6 cable from the booster output in the relaxation centre to each of the 4 rooms.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 3:29pm On Dec 24, 2009
@pofolo,
The 45db signal booster is a line amplifier not a splitter. Yes, we have the original ALCAD model and we have other brands too.

@ george baba,

i totally agree with you on that RF of a thing, but how is gonna be possible linking all RF outputs from the 14 decoders so as to have a single output, cos that is where i think my only challenge is coming from.
awaiting your reply.

@enitan,
So sorry I couldn't get back to you on time. I been busy running around for the yuletide and no time to come online.

Your set up should be pretty straight forward since your using DSTV decoders. First of all, try and gather all the decoders in one central place (which of course is most likely the control room). Run the cable from the dish to one of the decoders (which we will regard as the master). Check the back of the decoders carefully. Each should have one LNB in port and one LNB out port. Cut and prepare several short lenghts rg6 cables complete with f-connectors. You will need them to loop out signals from the master decoder to the others. Now start the looping. Connect the lnb out of the first decoder (the master) to the lnb in port of the second and connect the lnb out port of the second to the lnb in port of the third using those rg6 cables with f-connectors you have prepared. Continue until the 14th decoder. Next you will need to loop the rf inputs and outputs together. Prepare another set of rg6 cables with f-connectors at both ends. Now start: Connect the rf out of the first decoder (master) to the rf in port of the second and connect the rf out port of the second decoder to the rf in port of the third. Continue that way until you get to the 14th decoder. Now connect the rf out of the 14th (last) decoder to the 45db signal booster. From the signal booster you can output to a 4 or 8-way splitter and distribute to the offices as required.

That is the physical set up. Now, you will then proceed to seperate the channels as I earlier told you by entering the decoder menu and going to the set up screen. Try and use an av cable for convienience. You can go from one decoder to the other as you seperate the channels.

Lastly, remember to turn off lnb power in at least 10 of the decoders. Reason being that if you leave lnb power on in all 14 decoders, the LV/HV current passing from the decoders to the lnb will overload the lnb and cause frequent blowing out of the lnb. Thus you will need to replace lnbs every other month. Hope this helps?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by mide2008(m): 9:29am On Dec 24, 2009
@enitan
From my experience of such set up which involves to 10 channels for an hotel, i think this is what you should do. Get two 8 waysplitter and one 2 way splitter. Connect all the 14 receivers to the splitter as advice by George by chosing different RF output for each. Dont forget that the two 8 waysplitters will give you sixteen input and two output. Connect the first 8 receivers to one of the two splitters and the remaining six receivers to the other splitter. The output coming from the two splitters will now go into the 2 way splitter thereby giving one output which will go into the 45db signal booster and then to the various offices. This is how i did mine and all ten channels works perfectly in all the rooms.

Your opinion and advise is needed.  I want to install  a 2.4M pan dish  for nilesat  so that I can get the MBC channels in UAE.

Also my neighbour down stairs will also be interested in getting the signal.

My question is will a regular 3 way splitter be OK from the LNB to me, my friend and my neighbour as we all have our own independent  receivers.

Thanks.

@obijack,
What you need is a quatro lnb. Since you need seperate outputs for yourself and three others, use an lnb that will serve you independently. With your 2.4m pan, better to get an echosat 0.1db 4-way (quatro) lnb. If you can't get that, use a digisat 0.2db quad output instead.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by litaninja(m): 11:58am On Oct 14, 2009
@ Obijack: A splitter directly connected to the lnb would probably be a bad idea. Especially if you'll end up tuning channels with different polarities at the same time. What you can do is to either get a multiple output lnb. This way you can connect each receiver to the lnb directly without problems. Another solution would be to get a multi-switch and have the output ports routed accordingly to the receivers. The multi-switch would do the polarity switching for you and all receivers hooked up can work independently.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Satellite Card Sharing by badaru1(m): 2:52pm On Oct 09, 2009
@All

Cardsharing is system where alot of people(slaves) can share from a valid subscribed cards from a server(host). Normally the producers or owners of the server will subscribe for alots of providers like dstv,hitv,daarsat etc. They will now set up a server,who ever is given access to that server will watch the providers as if he is paying. To get the access to the srever you need an average speed internet connection and decoder with inernet connection(this is wan). Cardsharing can also be local using card splitter.

There are alots of decoders with cardsharing programmes already in them(plug and play) like maxfly mf 1000+,Azbox,dreambox,nanoxx,max,mann etc. While for other categories you need to subscribe for the service.

The best of these decoders are Ebox elite x and maxfly. Reason being that i ve used them and they carry multichoice africa c-band and all nilesat providers.

You obviously have not been reading my numerous posts. Please always try and pay attention to what I write. Even if you don't need the information at that point in time, take note of it and store it somewhere. It will help you when the time comes.
I explained in detail how to overcome daarsat no rf out problem some pages back. In any case, let me repeat myself.
Daarsat does not have an rf out port. So, to watch your channels in more than one room or to send to your neighbour, get an old VCR (either panasonic, sharp, philips, etc). Connect the AV in-to-in video from the daarsat decoder to the AV input of the VCR (video cassette recorder). Then connect the rf output of the VCR to your 2 or 4-way splitter and send to your neighbour.
