Hello all,
I have been waiting for your explanation on how it's posible to watch different polarisation of one LNB at the same time. Even you didn't explain in detail how you use your two decoders for different polarisations.
Am asking this is because I've been facing similar problem. I couldn't access more than one polarity of one LNB at a time.
Here is what I did; I connect the lines coming from the LNBs to the Disq switch, then use signal splitter to each decoders. Please correct me if i make a mistake.
Thanks in Advance

@ayu,
The answer to your problem has been discussed way back in the beginning of this thread (season 3).
But in anycase, what you need is a multi switch and a dual lnb. Connect the outputs of the lnb to the multiswitch and distribute by means of a splitter to various rooms. That solves your problem.

Study the pictures below posted by BUTONEDAY and check page 21 for better explanation:

On the early morning of friday morning, after being fed up with the incessant picture freezing of CRTV i looked at my neglected strong box which was faulty in detecting signal. I plugged it on and voila the signal turned green. What happened for the resurrection i dont really know. The crtv picture on the strong box was so smooth. And since i have a signal splitter switch, i just splitted the astra2b signal into my former eurostar box and the strong. I made sure all the stations on the strong box to be on v pol while that of eurostar has h pol. And i was able to watch the stations simultaneously.

As I was advised earlier; looping through one decoder didn’t solved my problem. Am still not able to watch channels of the same polarity of different Birds. For clarity, I connect Disq switch From the LNBs; since I have 2 receivers then I use signal splitter, and connect each decoders at two ends. Now I start facing difficulty of accessing more than one polarity. (I know I can’t access different polarity of one bird at a time.)
If is there any way to resolve this case, please forward.

Thanks a lot for responding…
&it’s good to hear that you like Addis and Nairobi ….,

According to “Ecowas4All” info, the signal splitter should be removed and I should loop from either of the decoder, in order to access both locations once.
I’ll try that tomorrow and bring result here.
About ETV, it’s ETV Ethiopia; they actually transmit EPL, La Liga, and Champions League FTA matches. Sometimes tournaments like World Cup, CAN, and Athletics Champions &… are transmitted…

@All
I’ve been following this tread starting from the 15th page of season 1; Thanks to all of the contributors, you all gave me an important lesson over the past months. Initially I had no idea on how to track a given satellite, but now from the information I gathered from the forum I manage to track two satellites, and plans to add another one soon.
As mentioned in season two I bought all the necessary equipments and a signal finder. Then start tracking badr@26, On my 1.8M dish; I swear to God it only took me 20 minutes.
Then I start tracking Intelsat906 with another 1.8m, this one took a longer time, but latter I realized that in order to notice the change (while moving the dish), the signal needs a second or two (to shoot up). Therefore I start moving the dish slowly noticing the change every step… After 2 hours of tracking, I finally hunt the bird.
The final work is connecting the two dishes to different inputs of the DiSEq switch, and since I have two decoders; I attach a signal splitter. Finished searching all channels on each decoder and that was all.
But then I face difficulty; which is whenever I want to watch two channels of different polarity, specially (different polarity from different satellites) the signal brakes and shows, “no signal, check cables…”.
Initially when I used the badr only (when I try MBC and Dubai sport), I thought it was not possible, since the source is one lnb; But even when using two different LNBs, the problem still exists.
My Decoders are HUMAX IR ACE II and EUROSTAR777.
Please help me on how to resolve this problem.
Thanks in Advance

@graciousme,
You're welcome.

@emeystan,
Which of the MBCs are you talking about? If it is mbc Mauritius- as i guess you're referring to
w3a, then you don't have any problems because both stations are on the same H polarity.
If both decoders are STRONG, check the back of the decoder and find the loop out port. Loop
the lnb signal of the first receiver into the second one.
Next go to the decoder menu of the second decoder (under system setting - A/V output) and
change the RF channel from the default 32 to something btw 34 or 36 and exit.
Go to the back of the decoder again and look for the RF in and out ports. Next, connect the RF
out of the first decoder to the RF in of the second decoder. Lastly connect the RF out of the
second decoder to a 2 or 4-way splitter. Connect the output of the splitter using RG6 cables to
as many TVs as you want to watch the two stations from and scan your TV. Both stations will
be available on all TVs both in the parlour and the rooms and you can tune directly to each one
from the TV itself rather than using the decoder remote.

if there is anyone intrested in a  5 way smart card spliter, its available at the rate of 35k.some one just showed it to me today as he just brought in

goods from the outside, including aljazeera sports valid smart cards which he is selling for 25k.though the card was formally sold for 12k b4 they got

the right for champions league.

check this sites for a sample of what card splitter looks like.but note that this one is not the wireless type.as wireless type is limited by distance or range it can cover .this one is wired and can be used in hotels and football viewing centers and domestic home use.

Royal Philips Electronics has introduced a multi-standard hybrid silicon tuner IC capable of receiving both analogue and digital terrestrial broadcasts.

According to the company, the TDA18271HD tuner chip offers fast time-to-market, space savings, HD picture quality and significant cost advantages. It promises to deliver a field-proven, production ready reference design; reduce bill-of-materials by up to 25 per cent; and meet CENELEC and Nordig specifications. Touted to be significantly smaller than traditional can tuners, this device has a power consumption of less than 800mW.

"In the past, PC makers had to use bulky can tuners to reach high performance reception, high picture quality and low power consumption", said Robert Murray, marketing director for TV front end solutions at Philips. "Today our considerably smaller hybrid silicon tuner reaches the same performance while significantly reducing systems costs. Our production ready reference designs pass both Nordig Unified and CENELEC and make sure that customers will get their PVR capable products quicker into the homes of the consumers at an affordable price."

Philips said they were able to achieve this by being the first to provide an integrated splitter and feed-through in its silicon tuners that make it easy to chain them in multi-tuner systems. This step alone brings significant cost savings compared to any existing multi-tuner solutions, added the company.

The TDA18271HD silicon tuner, combined with a channel decoder (TDA10048) and a video-decoder (SAA713x), provides a full system for PCTV hybrid terrestrial applications at low power consumption. The integration of the analogue IF demodulator in video decoders reduces the overall system size and cost, while lowering the cost of DTV only systems, explained Philips.

Within the TDA18271HD are RF tracking filters for unwanted signal suppression, IF selectivity and RF output for easy implementation in PVR dual tuner based cards. Features such as multi-tuner configuration and loop-through for easy chaining of tuners were designed based on the input of leading manufacturers. The TDA18271HD offers 60dB image rejection, 5dB noise figure and a power consumption of 780mW.

Samples of the TDA18271HD are already available. Production quantities are expected for Q3 2006. Per unit pricing is less than Rs.225.55 ($5) for quantities of 10,000 units.

Get a 2 ways eurostar splitter and connect the wires from pas 7/10 lnb and the one from nss7ku lnb and give them one port, use the remaining 3 ports for other satellites.N.B. The two satellites u combined together will now use the same port number.e.g.port #2 will be for both nss7ku and pas7/10.
@Pitodenz,
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I will try it out and see how it goes.

@ jesu de,

if connecting these five birds together is ur problem, its simple to resolve.this is just what u need to do.

if u are residing in the north like myself, normally,ur 1.8m dish will pick four birds with the use of 3 lnbs. i.e- the main lnb will be facing nilesat, while there will be other two attachment.one for nss 7 and the other will pick both sirius and eutelsat w3a.then u will have another 65-90 cm dish that will be facing intelsat 7/10 for etv.

then the disect connection goes this way.disect 1 will be nilesat disect two will be nss7 disect 3 will be sirius and w3a and disect four will be intelsat 7/10.which will give u a total of 5 birds as both w3a and sirius are picked by one lnb.

Dre lu,
You need to ground both your dish and coaxial cable using a 'grounding block' - see the picture attached below.

Step 1:
Apart from the Coaxial cable connected to the LNB, you need an additional thin wire known as the "messenger" wire which will be connected to the satellite dish to 'ground' it.
Step2:
Where the cable gets connected to the satellite dish, make sure that the coaxial cable is tightly connected and look to see if the messenger wire is connected to the ground screw on the dish's base. If it is not, then use the wire strippers to strip about 3/4 inches of insulation off the wire and wrap it under the ground screw and tighten the screw.
Step3:
Next, it's important that your satellite cable enter the home near where your main ground is located. Use the drill, drill bits, anchors and screws to secure the grounding block to the building's structure near the base of the building.
Step4:
Run the satellite cable from the dish to the grounding block. Place some of the silicone grease on the grounding block's terminal. This helps reduce corrosion and protects the connection from the weather. Make a 3- to 5-inch loop in the cable and then connect the coaxial cable to the threaded terminal using the adjustable wrench to make sure that it is tight.
Step5:
Loosen the screw on the grounding block and place the messenger wire in the hole underneath of it. Retighten the screw to hold the messenger wire in place.
Step6:
Find the building's central ground and run the #10 copper wire from that point to the satellite cable grounding block. Loosen the same screw that you loosened for the messenger wire and place the copper wire in the same hole. Tighten down the screw so that both wires are secure. Return to the building's central ground and connect the #10 copper wire to it.
Step7:
Connect the coaxial cable that enters the building to the other side of the splitter terminal on the grounding block, after you coat it with the silicone.
Step8:
That is all it takes to ground your satellite dish and cable. Now, the next time you're in the middle of a lightning storm, you won't have to worry about the satellite dish on top of your home acting like a conductor!

George_D:

Not necessarily. You could use a multi switch with multiple lnbs too. The goal is for you to be able
to watch more than one channels at the same time without conflict.

Lets say I have 3 dishes. One pointing to intelsat 7/10, the second to Eutelsat w3a and the third
Sirius 4 all connected through a diseqc switch to a reciever in the parlour and I'm living in a two or
three bedroom flat. Instead of just looping out the RF output of my decoder in the parlour to the other
other TVs in the rooms, I might decide to pass the output of the diseqc switch through a multi switch
to the TV in the parlour and those of the other rooms. Why is that? What is special in this arrangement?

Now, this is the difference: If I decide to pass the output of the RF port from the decoder to the TVs
in the other rooms, I can only watch whatever channel is on in the parlour (this is the most common
arrangement in many homes with FTA). But if I decide that I need freedom to watch any channel
independent of what is being watched in the parlour, I have to pass the output of the diseqc switch
through a multi switch to another decoder in my room. So that, while the children are watching, e.g, baby tv
channel (from Intelsat 7/10), I can be on any other channel, e.g, ETV-HYDE-PARK (from sirius 4) in my room.
If I decide to forgo the multiswitch and  pass the output of the diseqc through an ordinary two or 4-way splitter to my decoder in the room what I get is conflict between channels with horizontal or vertical
polarities. The decoder in the parlour becomes the 'master' decoder and those in the rooms become the
'slaves'. So, if the decoder in the parlour is on a channel with horizontal polarity, e.g, baby tv (intelsat 7/10),
the other ones in the rooms cannot recieve any channel on vertical polarity except you power off the master reciever in the parlour.

To avoid this kind of conflict, you need a multi switch so you can watch channels of different polarities
independent of each other.

George_D, This is a simple matter. Your three SAT example cannot be achieved if the LNBs only have a single output. For you to achieve what you're looking for you need ( I say it again) LNB with a DUAL output connected to a multi- switch or  2 4X1 DiseqC switches with each ouput going to Receivers in your palour and Bedroom. Another method is using a Band Stacked LNB, that uses the "One Cable System or OCS"  method which I doubt you do and connected to a multi-switch. Remember, to use a BandStacked LNB, your Receiver must be OCS capable. If you do what you have been theorizing above, there will be a conflict. Period!!!!  Look at the diagrams by BUTONEDAY and LagosSky as guides. I hope this helps.

George_D;

The output of the RF port from the decoder gives you the same TV channel being watched on that decoder.
The output of the LOOP BACK port from the decoder gives you the same polarity being used on the decoder.
You would have to have an LNB with two out put (i.e. duel LNB ) on the antenna two get the Horizontal and Vertical output (one from each output) and fed to a switch and then the decoder s programmed to pick up the horizontal/vertical from the correct port.
I have this set up at my place. I have one antenna that picks up the vertical of PAS7/10 and another horizontal ( I did not find duel output C-ban LNB) and the vertical is shared with my other neighbors who are using DSTV c-band via a dstv splitter box.
Let me know if this is clear. You need a duel LNB to get totally independent output.

Remember, the LNB MUST have a dual out put for it to work.
