Politics › Re: N70,000 Minimum Wage: We Can’t Pay Unless…. – Organised Private Sector Cries Out by seborrhic: 9:56am On Jul 19, 2024
thesicilian:
If you were a staff of a PRIVATE company receiving 25k per month, and they say they cannot pay you 70k but can manage to pay you 50k, would you accept it or prefer to refuse so that the company can close down and you return to the labour market with no certainty of a new job in the next few months?
Most companies are still not going to pay up to minimum wage and nothing will happen. In fact I know of some people that kneel down to greet their bosses just for paying them salaries, not to talk of if the boss now decides to add just 10 - 15k to their salary instead of the commensurate minimum wage pay
They talk and act like fools most times.
Close down. They think the companies would manufacture money from the air.
Even the old wage many private companies cannot afford because business has generally been depressed, high cost, low sales.
It's mainly financial institutions, oil companies, servicing companies, construction companies, big and multinational companies that can afford to pay.
Even at that, some may have to lay off workers to pay.
Some people naively think minimum wage means the lowest paid worker will earn the 70k and others will earn the higher wages they were earning before.
It doesn't work that way;there will be a general salary increase from the lowest to the oga at the top to reflect salarity disparity and years in the workforce,at different percentage increases.
There is no doubt wage has to increase, but how does it reflect in the private sector, especially medium to small scale businesses.Unfortnately it won't.
I hope we don't see another Udoji salary increase calamity because babablublu has so far shown that he doesn't think we'll or have the capacity to think through actions before making rash and calamitous pronouncements.

But he says he has been in Maiduguri for 2 months.
If there is concrete evidence he has been in Maiduguri,of course he couldn't have committed a murder in India, unless it occurred before and he since escaped to Nigeria.
This matter is very easy to confirm.

Why overcrowding? Why not allow the carrying capacity of the vehicle thereby not affecting its center of gravity hence stability when suddenly faced with change in motion dynamics.
It's only when such tragic event happens people remember how dangerous and life threatening such practice is.
But I bet you that same korope and driver and even some students have been in many countless trips like this for months if not years, always getting away with it till the devil suddenly woke up on the wrong side of unilorin today.
How many occasions have you seen students lapping themselves in overcrowded buses,so that they can all get home together or attend a function together.
It's only after accidents like this we all remember that overcrowding and overspending are 2 fatal vehicle combinations.

Shai!
Imagine going to tell the parents of these students that the child they sent to the university, suffering just to see them through and who they spoke to just minutes ago or was at a POS point trying to send money to,is dead!!
It will take the wisdom of Solomon to break such news to any parent.

Tell me did the jamb boss say no more names of top scorers would be announced?
If the answer is yes, what changed?Or did the Holy spirit administer to him that if anyone reminds him of it or his reversal miraculously coinciding with the top scorer being a Yoruba after some years,it would amount to cyber bullying?

we all knw what happened last year... A 19 Yr old adult forged her jamb result and d entire leaders from a particular region defended her and called d jamb registrar incompetent
I don't give a damn who came tops.
Right from time, the top spot has always been a battle between The Core SE states of Anambra/Imo/Abia,the Core Southwest,of Ogun,Oyo,Ondo,Ekiti, excluding Lagos and the SS of Delta.90% of top scorers have been from these regions, names have been announced and everyone goes about it's business till the next JAMB.
All of a sudden the jamb boss announced there won't be any name announcement this year because of the controversy of last year. Some people expressed misgivings but many understood and accepted that it was to sanitise the system for this year and probably next. All good steps.
But suddenly there is now a U-turn.Even if you are a Yoruba man with a Yoruba jamb head,an Iboman with an Ibo jamb boss, etc, you must know that the optics it sends will look somehow.
Nigerians sometimes are too blinded to always assume a criticism is borne out of ethnic bias but fail to appreciate that some actions, even if not with any ulterior intention, will give rise to different perceptions of the events.

Thought he said no names would any longer be announced, just the top scores. What changed?
Or is it because his tribes person is the highest scorer this year that his tribalistic self got reactivated?
To avoid backlash,he added other top candidates to discolour his original ethnocentric intent.

Most blogs are useless and run by jobless, semi literate entities.
But it's instructive to note here that the Borno government press release neither debunked that the governor's son is schooling in India, nor involved in an altercation with anyone following a tussle over a puccy. That should have been the main cross of the the rebuttal that would have put out any doubt that the boy was anywhere near such an incident.
They also instructively didn't deny that he takes alcohol.
Height of hypocrisy!

I don't understand.
Is the contractor supposed to do the renovations and constructions for free?
Unless the EFCC is insinuating that there were other monies siphoned, otherwise I do not see anything wrong with the amounts paid for the constructions and renovations.
Why is Bello also being singled out because in all honesty whatever he has done or stolen is no different from and even less than what the likes of Akpabio,Wike,Oshiomhole, former Kebbi governor, now minister, etc, have done.
So long these other people are not just walking free but still in power or enjoying the rich spoils of their office,so long will this Bello case be viewed as a persecution and not prosecution

Rubbish.
Even if he receives ₦10b from Bello and the powers that be don't want him convicted he won't.
Ordinarily Bello should receive severe scorn and condemnation from Nigerians because of the obvious corruption, but objective people should also look at the likes of the senate President,Akpabio,Nyesom Wike, most former governors, all massively corrupt and how they are all enjoying their wealth, enjoying sensitive posts and walking free.
So what makes Bello different and why should he be made a scapegoat? It's not fair

No doubt.
It's like carnivorous animals and primates that don't cook their meat before eating it and enjoy it.

Animals are built different indeed!

It's not even a matter of never eating it in your life. How does it even pass through one's throat without the individual throwing up.
Just like how people have "biological clock" that wakes them up at regular times,so I think is these abnormal meat types.Even if you are not told what the meat is,so long you are normal and didn't start eating it from childhood, once it gets to the throat of a normal person, the body will automatically reject it by throwing up because it senses the meat is abnormal and shouldn't be consumed

I believe there would be a logical or cultural explanation to why this proposal happened there.
Know some people would rush to comment negatively without waiting for the context to be known.
Bloggers, many dunces would just be posting stories and senseless people would be rushing to comment.
The same way people condemned a lady who was seen to be blocking a groom from dancing with his bride, only for it to be found out it's the tradition of that tribe.

It's commonsense that lastma has something to do with it, the reason the guy hung himself in front of their building to send the message.
If lastma had nothing to do with it,he could easily have hung himself in his room or jumped into the lagoon.
Deny all they want, the harm has been done and the message passed.

Kobojunkie:
That statement of yours should serve as a major indictment against the government, and not a reason for Labor to pull back on its demand. If the government cannot even pay its workers a decent wage of at least $157 a month even after spending so many billions of dollars to supposedly improve the lives of the very same people, then that government needs to be uprooted, don't you think? undecided
Maybe you don't get me well.
This is not any endorsement of the goverment position.
Tinubu is an unmitigated disaster. For anyone to be worse than Buhari should tell you enough about the present president.
Infact, this present almost worthless wage is a direct result of the mess Tinubu created with floating of the Naira and removal of fuel subsidy.
My point is that whatever minimum wage he implements now,the higher the worse will the economic situation in Nigeria get,if nothing is done about making the naira more valuable.
If minimum wage for example becomes 250k,rice will jump to 300k and prices of other goods and services will increase drastically so that informal sector workforce can meet up.
But make naira 700-800/$ for example with prices where they are now, then a 62k wage will make a bit of sense and there won't be massive sacking, retrenchment of workers and collapse of businesses
Politics › Re: Labour Insists On N250,000 Minimum Wage After Meeting Tinubu by seborrhic: 6:42pm On Jul 11, 2024
The fact, though painful to admit for many people is that even a 100k minimum wage,if implemented vigorously in both public and private sectors, would collapse the Nigerian economy.
The goverment should rather find and implement serious holistic measures to drastically improve the value of the Naira such that even a 62k minimum wage would have a value of 250k

What has his not eating got to do with his BP drugs.
In Nigeria there is the concept that all drug takers must eat before taking their drugs when in actual fact, there are some drugs that are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach.
If it was his BP that dropped that caused his collapse, then how could just pouring of water on him have resuscitated him?
If he collapsed from having not eaten, how can pouring of water, without him eating, have resuscitated him?

Eventhough it's universally acclaimed that Buhari's goverment was the most incompetent and most corrupt(both so far),it couldn't have spent a whooping ₦150b on meetings and advocacy only.
Besides that, when Tinubu leaves office, this minister and her ministry, along with others, would also be found to have engaged in the same heist they are conveniently accusing Buhari of now.

It’s always in Lagos that this rubbish happens.
Shut up.
It happens in every state including the North.
The only difference is the extortion by the police and duplication of union dues.
Wherever you load passengers, Keke,Okada, private or commercial, you pay union dues and other kinds of duties.
Think there was even a protest by Keke riders in one northern state over this same extortion.
In the SouthEast it's almost same extortion by different unions and touts.
Drive a Keke in Onitsha or Aba and see if before you reach your designation, the Keke rider won't have been stopped by different uniform or plain shirt wearing guys with tickets in their hands asking for evidence of him having paid one due or the other and if he hasn't he would be forced to do so,otherwise he won't continue.
Union dues and routing has become a common theme in transport business in Nigeria, just that that of Lagos takes the cake

Of course those brain challenged imps that believe anything that comes out of the mouth and ass of this fraudster, will also believe this.
He knows it's not possible,he knows it's another of his fraudulent lies and he knows any person with commonsense should laugh it off,but he says it in his desperation to be reelected because he knows anything short of it,will see him in prison pants, for probably the rest of what remains of his fraudulent, crime life.
No American president, even the Democrats with the most liberal immigration and citizenship policies can expressly give an executive order of that effect,Congress has to approve it,which is nigh impossible and even if any insane president does enact any clownish executive order of such, the courts would speedily strike it down in almost all states.
Clown is desperate and seeing that the Biden age and dementia argument is wearing thin and not giving him the kind of support he needs from independents and undecided voters;he would soon start coming up with further outlandish ideas
