PoliticsRe: The State Of Lagos-badagry Express Road. by SEGAD: 3:19pm On Jun 12, 2013
Delafruita: first, the road is not a state road.it is a federal road.the lagos state government should be applauded for even making efforts to take over the road.

it was initially agreed between the yar'adua and fashola administrations that the road will be a joint project between the federal and state governments.however, the federal government reneged on the agreement.the lagos state government went ahead to start making preparation to do the road and were taken to court by the federal government who insisted work shouldnt be done on their road.the issue was eventually resolved and lagos state govt applied to the world bank for a loan which was to be disbursed in 3 tranches with the federal government standing as the guarantor.the first tranche was disbursed and work began.when the second tranche was to be disbursed, the government withdrew from standing as guarantor stating that states were now barred from receiving foreign loans, funds were no longer available to speed up work and the work schedule had to be re-arranged while the government sought other sources of funding for the road.that also informed the reason for CCECC been asked to go beyond just the rails into the road as against julius berger which was more expensive.

i live in ijanikin and know the horror of that road.and for a while my routes have been structured to avoid it in favour of the lasu-isheri expressway.but i think if we're to pile pressure on anyone,it should be the federal government whose duty it was in the first place to do the road
Thanks for the info. But if I may ask, which road is state road? becausee most roads in Lagos is either local government road or Federal government road.

I personally keep my voter's card to vote against ACN in the next election in Lagos state. I've said this several time, there is no different between ACN & PDP, even some PDP governors perform far better than ACN governor, my example is Surllivan of Enugu. I challenge Fashola & Tinubu supporters on this forum to take pictures of their respective street in Lagos, then you will understand that your pay masters are big fraud.

What's he transforming? Is it arresting goats and sacking high paid civil servants just to recruit OYES teachers that he pays #10k a month? Thereby putting the secondary schools in a very bad shape where students are been taught by mostly unqualified teachers and corpers.... Better shut the crap and know the difference between rural and urban area.
I've been to so many rural areas in Osun State during my service year and the places are not in any way to compare with the above pictures. Aarrghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
You served in Osun, I'm from that state. Aregbesola is a big disgrace to human race. ACN strategy is basically on noise and unecessary hype. I can see any difference between PDP & ACN

ewet: Lagos is a city tht has gotten her master plan bastardized over the years by past admos you shuld also take into cognizance the fact tht the insfractructure of the state is over strecthed due to its huge population.
However the state is really making giant strides with the govts attempt to transform it particularly in the area of roads.I knw for sure tht I can give this govt 70% pass mark on the issue of roads in the state.
With the heavy noise on Lagos transformations, fourteen years in power is too long for Tinubu & Fashola not to have made serious impact on the state. The op emphasize was on street in Lagos, the streets in Lagos are terrible even in VI & Ikoyi. I stay in Ikorodu, 90% of street roads are terrible, the same story in Ketu, Gbagada, Isolo, Alimosho etc. Now compare to state like Enugu where almost 85% of the street are tarred with street lights. I cannot see any difference between PDP & ACN, they are all the same.

What do you mean by past administration, Tinubu-Fashola have governed Lagos more than 14 years. The same issue i normally have with GEJ supporters. Sincerely, Lagos is over hype. Fashola infrastructural developments can never be compared with Chime in Enugu. i stand to be corrrected

If you think my view is incorrect state yours? perhaps you mistake me for those you engage in mudslinging or personal abuse. Please do not try that with me because it will DEFINITELY derail and close the thread. All "on top " a road ,you call me a hater? Are you really OK?

For the record whatever road the Minister is talking about at a cost of 9.7 billion naira in collaboration with the World Bank is a different one from this one which cost 64 billion and is funded mainly by the ADB in collaboration with the World Bank and Japan.

Surely 500km of road does not cost 9.7 billion naira does it? Certainly not the way the FG have been charging us!!

The Minister is talking about rehabilitation?? Is this Highway about "REHABILITATION" huh

The ADB is using a different contractor China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC)
not SETRACO

and the agreement with the FG was they(FG) would rehabiltate an already existing road which would be linked to the Highway. That is estimated at 5% of the cost. Cameroun will also pay 5% of the cost

That is what Setraco is doing. If you follow the video you will see significant quality difference in the Sertraco work where they did not even paint mark the road
http://allafrica.com/stories/201006220156.html

The road was started in June 2010 by the ADB so no one should try to make political capital out of a project whose feasibility studies were done nearly 10 years ago and initiated NOT by Nigeria but the ADB
My opinion, I don't see anything wrong in GEJ adnministration to acclaim the glory, since the project was completed during his tenure as Nigeria president. I will also appreciate if the government of GEJ and supporters can also take responsibilities of all other issues like, corruptions, Boko-Haram, unemployment, cabals etc and stop telling us that the problems started during IBB,OBJ,Yaradua.
PoliticsRe: GEJ Should Be Impeached - LA Times Joel Brinkley by SEGAD: 10:56am On Mar 26, 2013
pro01: Someone should kindly tell me how GEJ's (2 year) administration is worse than OBJ's eight years in power. I have since concluded that shallow people (which describes many of the most vocal critics of the present administration) hate GEJ not necessarily for his actions or inactions, but because of his person and persona.

(Un)fortunately, GEJ is not as rambunctious, belligerent, swashbuckling, untamed, and uncouth as Obasanjo, which makes him seem less exciting and therefore 'worse'. It's all a matter of perception; groundless perception based on appearances rather than substance.

How, in cold facts and figures, is corruption - all forms of corruption - worse under GEJ than it was under Obasanjo? Nigeria earned the highest revenues in her history during Obasanjo's eight wasted years in power. How did that tell on our lives? Were the roads better under OBJ than they are now? Was the power supply better than it is now? Were our hospitals better equipped? Was there greater infrastructural development under OBJ than now? Was there less wastage of public funds under OBJ than now? Was the Rule of Law better observed under OBJ than it is under GEJ? Was general insecurity any less under OBJ than it is today (minus the emergent Boko Haram phenomenon, which sensible people realise is a political ploy to return power to the north)? Was the public service more efficient under OBJ than it is now? Most importantly, did Nigerians have more food on their tables under OBJ than they have today under GEJ (despite the fact that the country earned more courtesy of record crude oil prices during OBJ's eight years)? What then, is the basis for maligning GEJ as the worst thing to happen to Nigeria? Could it be merely because of his unpretentious appearance and underwhelming personality? Or could it be because of his unfashionable trademark hat? Because of his perceived lack of 'swagger'? Is that enough to justify so much baseless hate?

Do you so easily forget that the highest number of politically motivated assassinations occurred under Obasanjo, and ALL of them (including the murder of a serving Minister of Justice/Attorney-General) remain unresolved?

Again, how can anyone forget that political corruption, which is arguably worse than financial corruption, was elevated to official state practice under Obasanjo? In Nigeria's political history, has there been any election worse than the 2003 and 2007 general elections conducted by Obasanjo? Compare that with GEJ's demonstrable resolve not to tamper with electoral processes - which has seen the freest and fairest elections in Nigeria's history take place under him (e.g. Edo, Ondo, Anambra, Imo, etc). Gradually, the phenomenon of election-rigging is becoming extinct, primarily because GEJ refuses to endorse such, even to his own party's detriment. Can you say the same for OBJ?

Have we forgotten how Obasanjo sought to ALTER the constitution to prolong his stay in power through a dubious third term provision? Is that brazen act of political corruption not infinitely worse than pardoning a penitent convicted man?

I can go on and on, but the imperative of brevity constrains me. The fact is that we cannot judge GEJ in isolation. He had predecessors, and if we cannot prove how his administration is worse than those of his predecessors (especially OBJ), then we have serious issues indeed.
What's different between GEJ & OBJ, are they not from the same party. Are you saying people should stop criticizing him because is not worse than OBJ. If you remember vividly people from south-west critisized OBJ more than any part of the country. Sincerely, I don't understand your point.

Olaolufred: You are the real fool.
However, let me help you out of this foolish zone you made your abode.
Boko Haram started their operation under Yar'adua.
Mohammed Yusuf was arrested by Yar'adua's govt.
He was killed extra-judicially under Yar'adua. YARADUA IS AN HAUSA MAN.

Before Oct. 1 2010, The only attack by boko haram was carried out on Prison in Bauchi to release their arrested members.
On October 1 2010, MEND carried out the bombing in Eagle's square. Your MUMU president said "it is not mend"
He did his best to robe in Dokpesi, IBB and co, but failed.

BASED ON THIS, Jonathan IS THE FIRST ELECTED PRESIDENT TO POLITICIZE SECURITY THREAT TO NIGERIA AND NIGERIANS.

Immediately after his useless way of handling october 1 2010 bombing gave boko haram the audacity to forge ahead.
SEE THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT TO STUDY THE CHRONOLOGY OF BOKO HARAM'S ATTACKS.
In 2011, Boko Haram ordered a foolish Commander in Chief not to step the Eagle's square to celebrate independence,
Since then, Eagle's square remained a no-go-area to Mumu Jonathan.
WHO IS NOW THE REAL COMMANDER IN CHIEF? It must me the one determining what the other does.

IN SUMMARY, GOODLUCK IS TOO WEAK TO RULE NIGERIA.
HIS WEAKNESS BROUGHT US INTO THE INSECURITY WE ARE WITNESSING.

WILL BOKO HARAM CONTINUE AFTER Jonathan? YES.

UNTIL SOMEONE WITH THE RIGHT SENSE TO DO SOMETHING TO BRING THE CHAOS TO AN END COMES ON-BOARD.

"A MATTER WILL REMAIN IN IT'S STATE OF REST OR UNIFORM MOTION UNLESS AN EXTERNAL FORCE IS APPLIED ON IT" SIR ISAAC NEWTON

ASK YOURSELF HOW NIGER-DELTA MILITANCY STOPPED? THAT WAS ACHIEVED BY YARADUA.
LET Jonathan DO SOMETHING. HE DOESN'T HAVE TO COPY YARADUA'S TEMPLATE, BUT MUST GIVE NIGERIA WHAT HE WAS VOTED TO DO "PROVIDE SAFETY OF LIVES AND PROPERTY".
HE IS GROSSLY FAILING IN DOING THE SIMPLEST THING FOR WHICH HE IS VOTED.

CyberG: Now you are asking the right question! GEJ said BH is in his OWN cabinet, meaning they sit at the FEC meeting together but yet, there has never been a news about someone on his cabinet being tried! Does it mean the SSS, Military, Police, Navy, Air Force, DMI, NSA, etc CANNOT find ONE man or the MEN behind BH? Yet, some of their operatives are killed every month trying to do their job. When someone is arrested, he is released or allowed to escape, yet no one in the leadership of these agencies has been fired for allowing such a criminal / terrorist to escape! Do you know why? The bugs that eat the vegetable are actually part and parcel of the plant!
Bros, you make a lot of sense, the primary responsibility of president is to protect the lives of the citizen. I disagree with people that say GEJ is weak, the man is devil that request enough blood to draw sentiment in his favour. CelebritiesRe: Things You Never Knew About Mike Adenuga, Nigeria’s Second Richest Man by SEGAD: 11:14am On Feb 26, 2013
Jarus: You are wrong, guy.
As a young boy too, I was always reading Tell and other newsmagazines on politics and economy. I first read about Adenuga in 1992 as a 10 year-old primary school pupil. I remember that edition of Tell (or was it Newswatch?) that wrote extensively on sale of some oil blocs and remember reading a sentence like '38 years old Micheal Adenuga also won XYZ block with his consolidated oil'. I remember vividly. I had known Adenuga since teh early 90's. Other names I saw in that edition of Tell, if I recall faintly, were Folawiyo, Arisekola, Abiola, Mai Deribe.

I knew Adenuga very well then. In fact, my younger brothers and classmates can testify to how I used to tell them about one young multi-millionaire that bought oil bloc, way back in the early 90's.

In any case, he floated Devcom Bank circa 1990. If you don't have money, you can't float a bank. I wonder why people say Glo brought him out. Well, that's for those who were not following news/economy in the 90's.

This is why I tried to tell people that this man was already a multi-billionaire before Glo. I knew him way before Dangote. I first heard of Dangote in 1996 when I heard on NTA news that one Alhaji Aliko Dangote donated N500,000 to Nigeria's olympic winning team.

You don't need to be a household name before you are rich. Glo brought him into limelight because telcom is a household business. There are many multi-billionaire oil magnates people don't know, because their business, upstream oil and gas is not a household thing. How many people know ABC Orjiakor of Seplat oil? How many people knew Modupe Alakija of Famfa oil before Forbes brought her out in 2012 when she is 60 plus already?
Oga Jarus, you absolutely correct. I read about Adenuga as far back as 1993.

Sincere 9gerian: Power supply where I stay in Independence layout, Enugu has been FANTASTIC. Some days its up to 23hrs a day but on the average above 20hrs per day. For 6 consecutive days early this month power was rationed- 12hrs on and 12hrs off- in this area due to vandalism. But that was quickly repaired and things are back to normal. Other than those 6days, its been enjoyment galore in terms of public power supply for residents of this area.

I can also confirm that there are areas in Enugu were power supply is constant (24hrs non stop). The new housing estate built by Sulivan (located around Okpara Avenue) is an example
The estate is Coal City Garden Estate, that's where I stay in Enugu. The power is almost 24 hours except when there is general repairs. But anytime I travel to my house in Lagos the situation is terrible, 2-5 hours a day or no light at all.

chrisley024: Thanks 2 Rooney 4 his goal n Rafael n VP 4 dia clearance dat gave us dis 3 pts. I get pissed off seein AV playin 4 us n i must say Clev is an average midfielder; nt strong, has simple n predictable passes, cnt dribble, etc. He is too average 2 be in Manu 1st 11
I totally disagree with you on Clev, the guy is the best thing that happened to us last season. We should stop talking like Chealse fans that watch back of TV. Appreciate good things and criticize constructively. Proudly United
