Religion / Re: Is It Bad To Drop An Empty Offering Envelope In Church? by Segun87(m): 5:49pm On Nov 29, 2020
Pls is not by force to drop money inside if u gueinely did not have, you can dance to the frknt in appreciation to baba God and drop d empty envelope and return back to ur seat to continue with d service...

Peace✌

omodaamola:
Dear Nairalanders! What's your take on this?

Dropping empty offering envelops in Church, is it bad? I can say that, it is not a crime that you go to a place of worship on Sunday (Church) without offerings (money you drop in offering baskets).

Modern Churches now use branded envelops to take their offerings, once they give you, you must drop it....It is even written on it 'Do not take it home'. Some churches even go as far as giving more than one envelops (regular service, not on a Thanksgiving Sunday).

Nairalanders, if you worship in a Church that you dance forward to drop these offering envelops, and you are probably on a budget to give once or you don't even have at all. What would you do? Drop an empty envelop? Is this bad?

Sports / Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Buys Bugatti La Voiture Noire, World's Most Expensive Car by Segun87(m): 5:15pm On May 01, 2019
argob44:
Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly bought the most expensive car in the world, a Bugatti La Voiture Noire, rated at £9.5million.

The Juventus forward, who is known for his love of Bugatti's, has apparently bought the newest model, according to AS.

La Voiture Noire, which literally means "the black car", was built to celebrate the company's 110th anniversary and its unveil at the Geneva Motor Show certainly caused a buzz among enthusiasts.

A Twitter user, wrote: "Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly bought the most expensive car ever, Bugatti La Voiture Noire [$12m]. There's only one model of this car and it finally seems to have an owner. He can drive it from 2021. "

Recall, ASBnews.ng reported that after Portugal's historic victory over France in the 2016 European Championship final, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner celebrated in style with getting a Veyron worth around $1.5 million.

Ronaldo is also a owner of Ferrari F430, Phantom Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini Aventador, Maserati GranCabrio and the Bentley Continental GTC, among others.

That's not World Class biko.

Majority believes our Government knows what to do to raise our developments as a Nation but they are refusing to do it, I believe different, I believe our Government knows what to do to raise our developments as a Nation but they don't know how to do it.

The PDP wasted 16 years of leadership without fundamental achievements, the APC misused 3+ years of leadership without tangible results of its campaign promises.

Our current crop of leaders knows what to do but simply have no idea how, they've been giving their best according to their knowledge and abilities, with little or no results to show.

Provided we have insightful Leaders, Leaders with visions, proactive Leaders, tourism in Ekiti State alone will be generating billions of Naira quarterly. It will be in the top attraction lists of tourist centres in the world.

Politics / Re: Group Faults Muric’s Position On Appointments Made By Ekitigovernment by Segun87(m): 6:39pm On Mar 13, 2019
AnonPoet:
An Interest group, Integrity Leadership Organisation has carpeted the Director, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Prof Isaq Akintola, over what it described as his unwarranted criticism of the recent appointments made by Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Prof Akinola had in a statement earlier in the week faulted the Ekiti State government for appointing more Christians than Muslims in various positions in the government.

But the ILO in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mr Lekan Oyediran and made available to journalists on Wednesday, said Prof Akinola’s criticism was misplaced, stressing that competence and involvement in politics and community development are of greater consideration in appointment than the issue of religion.

The group urged Prof Isaq Akinola not to create religious crisis in Ekiti State through his unguarded outbursts, adding that Ekiti are not known to differentiate between religions as the adherents of all religions in the state see themselves as brothers. This, he said, had accounted for the religious harmony that the state enjoys.

The group said that someone of Prof Akinola’s calibre ought to know that government’s appointments are not based on religion or ethnicity, but on the value that the appointee can add.

The group said: “It is disturbing to hear the MURIC leader, Prof Isaq Akinola make such careless statement, giving the impression that the Ekiti State Governor deliberately side lined Muslims in the appointments made so far.

“This is quite misleading. The fact is that the Fayemi administration had in the last four months appointed both Christians and Muslims into positions, including a former President of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs.

“We know and believe the likes of Prof Akinola should know too that appointments into offices are not based on religious affiliation but on competence and involvement in politics and community development.

“The Muslim population in Ekiti State is about five per cent and the present administration has been fair in its dealings with the Muslim community, especially in the area of appointment.

“There is no golden rule that says Muslims should occupy a particular position in government.

“Ekitis live and work together in harmony and it is unfortunate that the likes of Prof Akintola, through their dubious agenda setting, are trying to create religious crisis by coming up with spurious allegation of marginalisation where it does  not exist.

“We urge Christians and Muslims in the state to shun any group or individual who are out to surreptitiously sow seed of discord.

“It is high time we continued to support an administration that has demonstrated clearly its commitment to the all- round development of the state and its citizens through the promotion of core values and purposeful leadership.” The Group added.

Lekan Oyediran

maximunimpact:
Nigerian govt bans Boeing 737 Max planes from country’s airspace – The Nigerian federal government has banned Boeing 737 Max airplanes from flying into Nigeria’s airspace following a fatal crash in Ethiopia over the weekend.

FINANCIAL WATCH gathered Hadi Sirika, minister of state, aviation, disclosed this to state house correspondents at the end of the federal executive council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Regarding Boeing 737 Max 8 and Max 9, that has been in the news recently, there is no cause for alarm as there is no operator in Nigeria that is using that type of airplane,” he said.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, whose mandate it is to issue advisory, has already issued advisory that nobody should fly into Nigeria or out of Nigeria using Boeing 737 Max 8 and Max 9, pending the determination of the actual cause of the crash in Ethiopia and also pending the outcome of the response of the manufacturer, which is Messers Boeing.

“Regardless of the enormous safety records of this plane 737, it has caused concern in the world of aviation and you know aviation is universal, whatever affects one affects the other because aircraft will be flying in and out. So, we have issued directive that no operator with Boeing 737 Max 8 or Max 9 should operate into and outside our airports and this is being carried out.”

The 157 persons on board the ill-fated aircraft were killed. Two Nigerians: Pius Adesanmi, a professor, and Abiodun Bashua, an ex-diplomat, lost their lives in the incident.
