Why won't the governor's wife be corrupt, when the husband is not focused. |
Baro:Are you sure? I thought it should be were and not are!. |
I just read of one statistics. 8 of every 10 Igbo men is into crime. |
8 out of every 10, what a statistic? Igbo kwenu!. |
[quote National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said on Monday that statistics in the last one year have shown that in every 10 drug traffickers arrested, eight were likely to be from the South East of the country. "ThIgbo ethnic extraction in Nigeria is therefore put the a willing tools in the hands of the drug barons, the Northerners are consumers of the substances, while South West provide storage and platform for trafficking in drugs." He noted that the statistic were alarming and predicative. He added that out of the 18 Nigerians in prison at far away Indonesia, 17 of them are Igbo. "Even one that answered Olaniyi which was believed to be a Yoruba man later turned out to be Nwachukwu.

I think this will keep some people's mouth shut about Yorubas being more in crime. |
paddy_lo:I think the just here does not mean the money is worthless, but no amount is worth carrying heroin. |

In Nigeria and with Nigerian, all things are possible. Wonders shall never end. I am sure alot of our so-called diasporans will not be comfortable with this. People do everything and anything just to remain abroad. I am very sure on judgement day, there will be two queues; The Nigerian queue and the queue for others. After GOD must have finished judging the other queue for 5 days, he will rest on the sixth day and now resume that of Nigerians on the seventh. There will be extreme and tight security during that process. |
Bizarre: Nigerian marries daughter for British visa 19 November, 2009 05:41:00 Reports What on earth will make a man marry his daughter? That is the question many are asking a Nigerian Home Office worker who was accused of marrying his own daughter to get her a British visa. The action already termed an ‘extraordinary scam’ is being investigated by the British Police. According to the Daily Mail, Jelili Adesanya 54, has lived in Britain for more than 30 years and holds a British passport, but wanted his daughter, her husband and their four sons to join him from Nigeria. It is expected she would try to remarry her real husband to get them all visas. Adesanya was accused of faking a wedding ceremony complete with a photograph of the happy "couple" which helped fool immigration officials that his daughter, Karimotu Adenike, was really his wife. Miss Adenike, who is in her mid-30s, was duly granted permission to live in the UK. They are waiting for her to be granted a permanent right to remain before they undergo a quiet divorce and attempt to bring the rest of her family here. It is expected she would try to remarry her real husband to get them all visas. But despite being tipped off two years ago, the Home Office seems to have done nothing to stop the scam by one of its workers. Until recently, Mr Adesanya was employed as an occupational health nurse for the Home Office, working with immigration officials at Gatwick airport. A whistleblower sent letters to the High Commission in Lagos and the UK Border Agency including specific details such as names, addresses, passport numbers and even a copy of the wedding photograph. When there was no response, he sent emails to then Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and ministers Vernon Coaker and Phil Woolas on February 1 this year. He heard nothing. Mr Adesanya, who came to Britain in 1976, flew back to Nigeria on May 29, 2007, and held the bogus wedding ceremony a few days later at a register office in Ikorodu, Lagos. A source said: "They paid people to attend the wedding so that the British High Commission in Lagos would believe it was genuine. The commission then gave Karimotu Adenike a two-year settlement visa in October 2007. "On her settlement visa application form, of course, she did not mention that she already had a husband and four children. "The date of birth on her Nigerian passport is not her real date of birth." Miss Adenike is believed to have aged herself by 10 years on her wedding certificate to disguise the age gap with her father. Although her settlement visa expired in October, she is hoping to be given the right to remain. David Burrowes, the Conservative MP for Enfield Southgate and Shadow Justice Minister, was also tipped off by the whistleblower and wrote to the Home Office. This time there was a reply, but it said that although the matter was "under investigation", no further information would be provided because it could "breach of our obligations under the Data Protection Act". Mr Burrowes told the Mail: "I am very surprised and concerned that no action appears to have been taken, because the allegations are extremely serious." Mr Adesanya, who lives with his daughter in Dagenham, Essex, vehemently denied the plot and said he had never been questioned about the allegations. He said: "Married my own daughter? I have never heard anything like this in my life. I deny it. She is my wife, not my daughter." However, asked to confirm his "wife’s’ date of birth, he said he did not know without checking her passport, and refused to allow her to speak for herself. Unknown to him, his daughter had confirmed the arrangement when she told a friend she would shortly apply for her own British passport and "divorce daddy". On Tuesday night Jonathan Sedgwick, from the UK Border Agency, said: "These individuals are already under investigation, and I want to make it clear that abuse of our immigration laws will not be tolerated. "If we identify marriages which we believe are not genuine, we will challenge them and prosecute where appropriate. "We are determined to send home any foreign nationals convicted of these types of crimes once they have served their sentences." This is just the beginning of more revelations. Very soon, you will know, there is a clique in that sector that specialises in ATM fraud in Nigeria. |
I learnt Bode George stays in Room 101 in Kirikiri. That should be a lesson for many others out there. |
I know one fact. So long this earth liveth, seed time and harvest time, will never cease. People will pay for every actions of theirs. |
I wonder why nothing can be done properly in this country. Anyway, I now here corruption is now a way of life in Nigeria, and some people are living it well. |
Sports minister, nine others quizzed over N12b U-17 World Cup funds THURSDAY, 19 NOVEMBER 2009 00:00 NIGERIAN COMPASS SPORTS Minister, Sani Ndanusa and top officials of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the organisation of the just-concluded Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) Under-17 World Cup were yesterday grilled by the State Security Service (SSS). Their drilling was in compliance with a presidentail directive that the tournament be investigated to determine how the N12 billion earmarked for the three-week fiesta were applied. The Federal Government raised an eye-brow that the several billions of the tax payers’ money released for the World Cup may not have been well utilised and demanded to know how the funds were disbursed. It was learnt that the minister and nine other officials of the LOC were interrogated for hours yesterday. The SSS will also invite other members of the committee to say all they know about the disbursement of the monies released to their sub-committees. Majority of the sub-committee seats had complained during the competition that they were starved of funds and had nothing to work with. In fact, one of the sub seat chairmen told the Nigerian Compass that he was tired of waiting daily for money to come from Abuja. He had said: “I don’t know what is happening again. They promised that they are going to give us money to work. “I have borrowed money to make sure that this centre is not lacking behind, but my prayer is that after the World Cup, they will pay back all the monies that I have borrowed,” fumed the sub seat chairman. I do not really see why crimes are being attached to a particular tribe. It is embedded. People sit down, plan and execute crimes. We should jointly fight crimes, instead of justifying them by tribes. |
ikefor:I do not think he took the whole thing serious, as I learnt he is on his way to Asia. Thank God for him. Atleast, he recovered fast. One thing that I know for sure is this, there will be no shooting of films in Enugu for a long time. Atleast, all these major actors will never show their faces there. It is these unknown stars, that will take the show there, now. |
Oboma1: |
Indeed, it is waste of government funds. I dont see what ICPC is doing at all. |
One fact remains. People will never stop learning from the experience of others. I am very sure before I stopped typing this post, someone else is awaiting being caught at MMA. |
antartica:How did you know? We should be talking facts here and not speculations. It is a known fact that he attended UNIBEN, but your claim is what one can not prove, so lets have your facts. |
osaass:My Guy, you should not have any problem with the poster, but rather the reporter. By the way, what makes you think otherwise? Besides, I want you to carry this mentality. A thief should be called a thief, irrespective of his/her tribe. |
bibiking1:Nobody knows, but she was really stupid to have done that. Infact, her comment annoyed me the most. |
My guy, never let the drive of poverty push you into such. Crime is crime. |
That of Bode George is still small compared to many others out there. I know his cohorts will do everything humanly possible to release him. EFCC, please watch!. |
Bode George: Keyamo Protests November 16, 2009 15:03 (6 hours ago), 634 views By Simon Ateba The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), this morning, petitioned the Presiding Justice of the Appeal Court over the presence of Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour in the panel of Court No.2 that is billed to hear and determine the bail application of Chief Olabode George. The agency said that it has information that Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour has shown a personal interest in the said matter in favour of Chief Olabode George (one of the Applicants), adding that justice will not be served if he participates in deciding the matter. “As lawyers, we are pained writing this petition on our client’s instruction, especially as we have the greatest respect for the person and integrity of Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour who is one of the finest minds on the bench today and we hold him and continue to hold him in the highest esteem. But we are mindful of what the Supreme Court said in the case of Kenon v. Tekam (2001) 14 NWLR (Pt.732) 12 at 36 as follows: “The court does not look at the mind of the Justice himself or at the mind of the chairman of the tribunal, or whoever it may be, who sits in a judicial capacity. It does not look to see if there was a real likelihood that he (the Judge) would, or did, in fact favour one side at the expense of the other. The court looks at the impression which would be given to other people. Even if he was as impartial as could be, nevertheless, if right-minded persons would think that, in the circumstances, there was a real likelihood or bias on his part, then he should not sit. And if he does sit, his decision cannot stand……, The court will not enquire whether he did, in fact, favour one side unfairly. Suffice it that reasonable people might think that he did. Justice must be rooted in confidence; and confidence is destroyed when right minded people go away thinking: “the Judge was biased,” EFCC stated through in a petition this morning through its Lawyer, Festus Keyamo. EFCC asked the Court of Appeal to refer the case to another panel. “My Lord, we therefore, kindly request that you do the needful by either re-assigning the case to another panel or directing the Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour to excuse himself from the said panel to hear and determine issues involving Chief Olabode George.” http://thepmnews.com/2009/11/16/bode-george-keyamo-protests |

Lagos Pilgrim Arrested With Fake $22k In Mecca November 16, 2009 15:04 (4 hours ago), 371 views By Kazeem Ugbodaga A Lagos pilgrim currently in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for this year’s Muslim hajj, has been arrested by the Saudi Police for being in possession of fake $22, 000 (N3.3 million) from which he has been spending. P.M.News gathered from a source, who is currently performing the hajj in Saudi Arabia, that the pilgrim, who came from Agege Local Government Area of the state, had been put in police custody. Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, who is in Saudi Arabia as leader of the Lagos State delegates refused to release the name of the arrested Lagos pilgrim or comment on the issue, when he was asked by a source in the holy land. It was gathered that the pilgrim had already converted $100 to Saudi Riyad undetected by operators of bureau de change and it was in the process of trying to convert more dollars to local currency that the fraud was detected and he was promptly arrested and detained. It was gathered that further search on him led to the discovery of more fake dollars in his possession. In Saudi Arabia, anyone caught stealing would have his hand chopped off, while those caught with hard drugs face death penalty, but is not known yet, what will be the punishment for the Lagos pilgrim caught with fake dollars. Last year, two Lagos pilgrims were caught at the Murtala Muhammed Airport with hard drugs on their way to Saudi Arabia. Before embarking on the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, pilgrims from Lagos were educated on the dos and don’ts in that country and why they should not tarnish the image of the state and the nation at large. They were urged to shun all forms of dubious activities and desist from drug smuggling to the holy land as that would warrant death if caught. They were also enjoined to be good ambassadors of the state. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government had also set up a hajj tribunal that would go with the pilgrims to Mecca. The tribunal is expected to try and prosecute erring pilgrims while in Saudi Arabia. http://thepmnews.com/2009/11/16/lagos-pilgrim-arrested-with-fake-22k-in-mecca |
I want to say something here. I know that, if it was possible for the north to come to the south and vice-versa, the north would have left Nigeria since the days of our grand-parents. The way they are going about this exploration thing, shows how eager they are. Whichever way it is, seeking more oil wells is not the solution plaguing the nation. Bad leadership is the summary of the problem of this country. By the way, what happens to the old ancient groundnut pyramid, that we use to see when we were small? What happened to the ever covetous cocoa that Nigeria was noted for in the early 60's and 70's? Why want to turn the economy into a mono-product economy?. Are there other areas that are left untapped in this country? If someone decide to explore them, wont government nationalise them? These are issues that bad leadership can not analyse and find progressive solutions to. One thing I discovered in this country is that, we like to copy things instead of creating new avenues for development. The day a car will be built in Onitsha or Aba, other part of the country will start looking for how to build their own and possibly name them after their states, not minding what they call, comparative advantage, in the economy. We should learn how to develop things in every sector of the economy, instead of trying to be what we cannot!. |
