N15m scam rocks Chris Oyakhilome’s church 23 November, 2009 01:27:00 Reports Another round of crisis is rocking Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy, as a former student of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Victor Osagie, alias Jerry Finger, has admitted defrauding foreigners of $96,607( about N15million) and spending the proceeds on tithes and offerings in the church. Osagie, a 23 -year old former Chemical Engineering student who dropped out of the university in 2004 due to what he called ‘family issues’, was picked up by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benin, following a petition by a regional compliance officer with Moneygram International, who suspected that the number of foreign ladies, mostly Americans and Germans, who have been sending money to the fraudster were victims of fraud. A statement by EFCC’s head of publicity, Mr. Femi Babafemi, said the suspicion was triggered by a communication with one of the victims who told Moneygram that she met the fraudster over the internet and that she has been sending him money because he said he wanted to set up a business. Investigations subsequently revealed that Osagie was a serial marriage scammer. Who fleeced his victims posing as Jerry Finger, a white British American expatriate working in Nigeria. Apart from sending photograph of a successful white male with the assumed Identity of a Jerry Finger to his victims and promising them marriage, he also told his victims that he was in Nigeria to execute a project and then demanded for money from them, with a promise to refund them when he was paid for the project. Some fell for the gimmick and paid. Before he was finally nabbed, a total of $96,607.95 had been remitted to him by the victims. He collected the money through Moneygram desk in five different banks: United Bank for Africa Plc, Bank PHB, Spring Bank and Equitorial Trust Bank, using a fake driver’s licence with the name of Jerry Finger. Upon arrest, he confessed to the crime. He said he started scamming in 2007, three years after he dropped out of the university. Before then he had worked as bar man in two hotels in Benin. He said he was forced to embrace internet fraud due to the pressure of fending for his family. Investigations revealed that Osagie was so generous that Christ Embassy noticed and was concerned considering his age. But the fraudster explained that his income came from legitimate sources. Curiously, he sees nothing wrong in defrauding people using his loot as offering and tithes. He said he did not see anything untoward about his action, as money belongs to God and there was nothing wrong giving what he made from his fraudulent endeavours to promote the work of God. He said he receives tremendous satisfaction knowing and seeing the people whose lives have been transformed through his giving. That for him was most edifying. He added that all those who gave him money did so willingly. "They are all my friends. Up till now they are still my friends. If I call them now they will speak with me. I didn’t defraud any one. I only asked for assistance and they were willing to help, "he declared. He said the only action he took which he was not proud of was assuming the fake identity of a Jerry Finger. The suspect, who was picked on October 23 has since been admitted to administrative bail, but will soon be charged to court. Meanwhile, chairman of the EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri, has charged Nigerian youths to take up the gauntlet in the fight against corruption in the country. She made the call weekend when she received members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in her office. Waziri who was represented by Gabriel Aduda, head, strategy and re-orientation unit (SARU) said the youths should join the fight against corruption as the future belongs to them. She said: "We are going to be working together to fight this scourge (corruption) that has eaten deep into the fabrics of our nation and has even begun to tamper with our national life because we have people dying from road accident because roads have not been built and money meant for that has been stolen. We have people dying from diseases that should have been cured because those drugs never got to the hospitals or they got to the hospitals and later disappeared. So whether we like it or not, directly or indirectly, we have been affected by corruption." She said the fight against corruption was not for EFCC alone but for all Nigerians, adding that the need to create awareness on this, gave birth to the Anti-Corruption Revolution Campaign, ANCOR, an enlightenment campaign programme that is aimed at giving Nigerians the opportunity to ownership of the fight against corruption. In his remarks, acting president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Deolu Sotade George, showered encomiums on Waziri and the Commission especially over the recent conviction of Chief Bode George by a Lagos High Court. He said with the successful prosecution and conviction of Chief Bode George, former chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Waziri has shown that she was determined to root out corruption from Nigeria. http://www.champion.com.ng/index.php?news=22797 |

Anambra 2010: It’ll be ‘packaged victory’ for Soludo –Prophet 22 November, 2009 12:18:00 By INNOCENT OKONKWO Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele has predicted that the poll winner in the February governorship election in Anambra State would be denied his mandate which would trigger a widespread anarchy. He advised Nigerians to pray fervently for peace, noting that dark smoke has enveloped the entire state. He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate would secure a ‘packaged victory’ to govern Anambra State in 2010. Ayodele also predicted 3rd place winner for the Super Eagles during the Nations’ Cup in Angola, but said the team would perform woefully during the World Cup in South Africa. The seer, who is credited with some accurate predictions on national issues over the years, also said Eagles’ handler, Amodu Shuaibu, would be relieved of his job as the national team coach. The cleric had in his predictions earlier published in our sister stable, Daily Champion of July 7, 2009 said Nigeria’s U-17 team would play well in the just concluded FIFA World Cup but would not retain the trophy and that the Super Eagles would qualify for the first World Cup in African by a stroke of luck. Ayodele told Sunday Champion in an interview in his Lagos office that the Anambra poll has been rigged and packaged waiting to be delivered to Prof Chukwuma Soludo of the PDP. He said Soludo’s ‘packaged victory’ would trigger spontaneous reaction that will have a negative consequence on Nigeria. "God has revealed the person that will win the election but they will not give that person the chance to rule. It is not Peter Obi or Chris Ngige. Soludo will not win but he will have a ‘packaged victory’ to govern Anambra State. The election will not be smooth, it will be full of rigging and ballot box snatching will be the order of the day. "Anambra needs prayer in 2010. The people’s choice will not be installed as the governor. It is not an election that cannot be decided by votes. It is going to be an election of bribe. A lot of gimmicks will surround the election. If care is not taken, Anambra election will trigger a lot of problems that will have unpleasant consequences for Nigeria. "I am not against any body, if you like counter it, you can call me any thing, and it does not bother me. The only one I am afraid of is God. Let me repeat it, PDP will win Anambra through a packaged victory. But there is going to be anarchy after the election. He, however, warned Soludo to watch his back, saying that some of his friends would betray him. "Many people who are pretending to be Soludo’s friends will stab him in the back. Let us pray to save lives in Anambra during this election", he said. On Andy Uba’s failed bid, Ayodele said Uba failed because of his ignorance, noting that he did not listen to the voice of God. "He did not listen to what the Lord said. He did not hear the true voice of God. If he had heard the voice of God, he would have been there. We warned him but he ignored the warning", he said. To Nigerian soccer lovers who may be nursing the dream of seeing the Super Eagles lift the gold during the Nation’s Cup in Angola, Ayodele said: "I want to say this again that Nigeria is going to the Nations’ Cup at Angola and will come 3rd. Nigeria is coming back with the bronze. "I want to say it again that Super Eagles will flop in South Africa during the World Cup; we will not perform. I want to say it to Nigerians again that Shuaibu Amodu will be sacked disgracefully", he said. The cleric said many people would be indicted in the probe of financial scandal during the recently concluded world youth soccer championship in Nigeria. Ayodele who described himself as a mere instrument in the hands of God, said that God is using him to communicate divine revelations and messages to Nigerians, adding that he would continue to communicate future occurrences to the nation without fear or favour, irrespective of the opinions of people about such prophecies and predictions. "It is unfortunate that we lost the U-17 cup but when the publication came out on July 7, 2009, a lot of people would say that we did not know what we were talking about and many others dismissed the prophecy. We prophesied that the Super Eagles had a slim chance, very slim chance that it would be tough but that they would scale through. "That is kudos to the Word of God. It is kudos to the Almighty God who has been using me as His vessel to communicate this message to Nigerians without fear or favour", he said. http://www.champion.com.ng/index.php?news=22713 |

Varsity dropout arrested over $96,000 fraud By Sun News Publishing Monday, November 23, 2009 More Stories on This Section A former student of the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State , Okoro Osagie Victor, (alias Jerry Finger) has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) for allegedly defrauding foreigners to the tune of $96, 607 through the internet. Catastrophic Failure: Soludo’s verdict on Anambra leadership By NOSIKE OGBUENYI, who was in ISUOFIA, Anambra State Monday, November 23, 2009 Soludo •Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the February 6, 2010 election in Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has blamed the precarious security situation and other problems on “catastrophic failure of leadership in the state”. The former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) who spoke during an exclusive interview with Daily Sun at his country home, Umueze village (Isuanaoma), Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State at the weekend regretted that Anambra which ought to be a first class state was reeling under a third class leadership. Speaking against the background of the scary security situation in the state under which his 78-year old father, Pa Simeon Soludo, was kidnapped last month, he asserted that the worrisome situation was one of the factors that nudged him into volunteering to serve and rescue his people. He declared: “Anambra is a first class state and requires a first class material to lead them. You cannot have a first class state and offer it a third class governance. It just won’t work. In Anambra today, there are refugees, people are running away. There is a refugee situation in Anambra. It may not be so pronounced because you are not seeing people in camps, but people are moving in droves out of the state. Go to Nnewi, its dead, literarily dead. Look at the factories that used to be; that’s a place where foreigners used to describe as the emerging Japan of Africa; go to the place today, everybody has run away. Go to Onitsha, everybody is moving across to Asaba; come to Awka, it’s a ghost town. I mean Anambra is just dead now, in economic terms. “There are no jobs, insecurity is just second nature. It has degenerated to a level at which even the kidnappers who kidnapped my dad told me that it is part of the culture. That’s the way they described it. Well, I don’t know much of what the governor has done, but whatever he has done, obviously has not worked, because people are so scared. You can’t even do certain things that are supposed to be done at home any longer. People are now having traditional marriages in Abuja, Lagos and so on. Why? the fear of going home. And the investors cannot come. You cannot create jobs under this state of insecurity. And therefore, for me, that is the first job of government.” Soludo listed among aspects of his agenda to restore Anambra to a secure path, creation of hundreds of thousands of job opportunities for teeming unemployed youth, creating new models of community policing, adequate equipment for the police and other security agencies, informal policing schemes and intelligence network. While vowing to ensure a secure Anambra “where people can sleep with their two eyes closed”, he declined to divulge further details of his security blueprint saying, “I don’t need to discuss the details of that here on the pages of newspaper or on the podium” for obvious reasons. Appraising his chances in the February 6, 2010 governorship election, he described them as very bright because “Anambra State is a PDP state”. As he put it, Anambra is more than 85 to 90 percent PDP. He predicted a landslide victory for PDP in the election, saying “we are not leaving anything to chance. We will win landslide. We don’t just want to win; we want to win very convincingly and that is why we are not leaving any stone unturned in the mobilization process that is ongoing. As you are aware, as the largest party not only in the state but in the country and Africa at large, there were almost 50 governorship aspirants who were interested in picking the ticket of the party which is a demonstration of the fact that it is the party on ground”. Soludo, while stressing that the reconciliation efforts of PDP was on full throttle to assuage the anger of aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders following his emergence as the candidate, admitted that a 100 percent healing may not be feasible before the poll early next year. He had this to say about the pent up anger in some quarters with the state chapter of the PDP: “And of course, following that (his choice), there were some that are nursing some feelings and we are in the process of the healing. And I can tell you right now - if you have 50 per cent of PDP members working for PDP, you have a landslide victory. And I can bet you that we have well passed 80 per cent in terms of getting the entire house together. So, I think basically, this is a PDP state and the next government will be formed by the PDP under my leadership.” On his promise of a quick turn-around of Anambra State into a model city state as the new African Dubai-Taiwan and the feasibility of the plan, he stressed that Dubai and Taiwan were developed due to sheer vision, outstanding leadership and entrepreneurship of the people. He promised to galvanize and mobilize Anambra to achieve a similar feat. Said Soludo, “…Anambra State is uniquely better endowed to do better than even Taiwan and Dubai because it has the largest concentration of entrepreneurs anywhere in Africa. Anambra people are all over Nigeria, all over Africa, all over the world, especially in the United States developing those climes. Anambra has a unique geographical advantage. It has a boundary with the North through Benue and Kogi; it has a boundary with the west through Delta, boundary with South-south through Rivers, boundary with Imo, Abia and Enugu states.” He described Anambra as a very special state in the country with the highest population density after Lagos and so uniquely positioned with potentially navigable waterways by way of the River Niger, which is being dredged. “And I can see the skylines along the banks of the River Niger. What you require is leadership and vision and that is what has been lacking totally – leadership and vision for our people,” he stressed. Speaking further on what Anambra State needs to leapfrog to the enviable levels attained by Dubai and Taiwan, the PDP candidate said the full potentials of the people would be unleashed “when they see leadership that they can trust; leadership they can believe in a proven hand that can mobilize not only the domestic but also global resources of the people to move forward.” http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2009/nov/23/national-23-11-2009-2.htm |

Abians, is this comment from this guy correct? |
The answer to your qestion is that there is no Government in Abia State. For the eight years Orji Uzor Kalu ruled Abia state with his Mother, they ended up enslaving Abians who unknowingly rushed to take their Okija secret oat in order to be part of a system they though could end their hunger, but ended up getting them more and more impoverished. How can there be a government in Abia when a sitting governor of a state will be coming to work from the home of the ex-governor's mother? How can there be a government in Abia when T.A.Orji had sold his heart to the devil of Okija shrine.Today at the hearing in the Apeal,he is no longer arguing to belong to Okija shrine, but is arguig that Okija shrine is not a secret society. I have known T.A.Orji for over twenty five years and my knowledge of him is not what is reflecting in his daily attitude to governance as I am convinced he has lost both his mental and natural bearings. Not just the Aba case is fit for mention. What about Umuahia? Today, you cannot drive any good car in Umuahia or its environs without having at least four security personel following you all about. My friend Pius lost his Amarda SUV and huge sums of money to armed bandits,Tony's Range Rover SUV was snatched by armed robbers while his wife was drivng home from the bank.Kachi lost his QX56 the next day at Ohiya junction, Kelechi lost his Landcruiser SUV and a Toyota Camry and so on and so fort. All these incidents happened last december. What about the kidnapping saga? Since the 2007 december, Abia state has recorded over 1,400 cases of kidnapping. If you doubt me please check the records from the state police command. Yet we have an OCHENDO sitting in the governor's lodge like a dummy without showing any concern. Orji Uzor Kalu amsed so much wealth such that he believes he can use it to turn any situation to his favour, but forgetting that it is God who seteth up Kings and Bringeth down Kings that men may know that God ruleth in the Kingdom of men. We are awaiting the judgement of the Appeal court sitting in Portharcourt and except if God has become man who can be bribed(but God forbid) Therefore, come the judgement day, we shall borrow a leaf from the Action congress to buy enough brooom to sweep away T.A.Orji,Orji Uzor Kalu,Oduko and their likes who have held Abians in bondage. http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/articles-comments/27453-there-any-government-abia-state.html |
