Turkish football giants, Fenerbahçe's new signing, Emmanuel Emenike was, on Sunday, detained at the Istanbul Police Department alongside the club’s president, Aziz Yildirim, as part of a Turkish police investigation, launched in 15 provinces within the country, over match-fixing allegations.

Local media reports disclosed that investigations are ongoing over suspected match fixing in the Turkish Super League and the lower league called Bank Asya League 1.

Fenerbahçe won the league, which ended in March.

Police are reportedly investigating Fenerbahçe's matches against Eskisehirspor and their last game against Sivasspor that won them the title.

Cihan News Agency, a media organisation in Turkey, said at least 100 people have been detained as part of the investigation.

The detainees include Trabzonspor Deputy President Nevzat Sakar, Fenerbahçe Deputy President Sekip Mosturoglu, Giresunspor President Omer Ulku, former Diyarbakırspor Chairman Abdurrahman Yakut, Eskisehirspor coach Bulent Uygun, Adanaspor coach Levent Eris, and players Umit Karan, Serkan Calik, Serdar Kulbilge, Mehmet Yildiz, Korcan Celikay and Sezer Ozturk.

Meanwhile, the police are still searching for Ihsan Eksioglu, a member of the Fenerbahçe sports club's executive committee.

At times, I wonder how our National team coaches scout players and invite them to the National teams undecided

Uche Eucharia saw ''a supposedly 16yrs old'' Uchechi Sunday who plays for FC Neunkirch in Switzerland and took her to the world cup despite her being uncapped and never representing/playing for Nigeria at any age-grade level but did not see this girl who plays for a more prominent club in the same switzerland and had been more in the news. undecided

Reminds me of how Eguavoen kept inviting Nosa Igiebor to the U-23 Olympic team from day one but did not extend the same courtesy to Anthony Ujah who was more prolific and making all the headlines in Lillestrom/Norway until he was forced to do so when his team was depleted by injury huh

Is it a tribalism/ethnicity thing cos yeye dey smell nor be small cry

Nigerian Wonder-Kid ESEOSA AIGBOGUN Handed First Team Chance

The Nigerian wonder-kid, Eseosa Aigbogun (17 years) is on the brink of promtion to the first team of FC Zurich, allnigeriasoccer.com can reveal.

Eseosa has been invited by the Zurich coach, Markus Kummer to the first team because of injuries to four members of the squad - Letizia Bonfardin (bone injury), Nadine Baker ( blocked lumbar vertebrae), Fabio Humm (calf injury) and Flavia Dalla Costa (ankle sprain).

The 17-year-old special talent was in action on Sunday in the second round of the Swiss Cup against FC Aarau. Unfortunately, FC Zurich ladies lost the match (1-2), but Eseosa got rave reviews after the game and praises from her coach.

Eseosa is delighted with her progress in a chat with allnigeriasoccer.com from Switzerland.

''It was my official debut for the first team of FC Zurich. The coach of the team said I was one of the best players on display. I feel very honored to get praises from the coach, and I hope to continue to work hard in training and justify the reason why he included me in the first team.

''The traveling supporters of FC Zurich were also delighted with my performance. They came to meet me after the game, told me I worked hard for the team, and I had good vision on the field of play, '' Eseosa told allnigeriasoccer.com.

The brilliant Nigerian forward has been included in the first team squad for the game with FC Yverdon Féminin on Saturday. If she gets to play as expected, it would be her debut appearance in the league.

FC Zurich are third in the standings, 11 points behind Young Boys, but they have played two games less.

Meanwhile, allnigeriasoccer.com gathered from a top Swiss journalist that Eseosa may be invited to the national team of Switzerland, once she establishes herself in the first team of FC Zurich. However, Eseosa has assured that her international future is with Nigeria.

Apart from being skillful and a very good footballer, she also very alluring, down to Earth and she's NIGERIAN to the core as shown by her FB and you can be sure she's the age she claims. The Babe despite repping Switzerland at U-19 level still wants to play for Nigeria. . . .

Exclusive: Nigerian wonder-kid ESEOSA AIGBOGUN joins FC Basel
Published: July 03, 2011
http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=5144
The Switzerland Under 19 international Eseosa Aigbogun is on the brink of a transition to FC Basel, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively reveal.

Next week, the 18 year-old striker will sign a one-year deal with an option for an additional year. FC Basel beat off competition from clubs in Germany and Switzerland for the signature of the phenomenal striker.

Eseosa spent the summer helping the Swiss team qualify for the 2012 FIFA Under 20 Women's World Cup in Uzbekistan. The Switzerland girls lost in the semi-finals of the UEFA Under 19 Championship to Germany.

'' I still want to play for the Nigeria Women's National Team, but I am yet to hear from the Falcons handlers. When the opportunity to play for Switzerland came, I grabbed it with both hands. The coach of the full Swiss Women's Team has contacted me, but I told her I would love to play for my fatherland - Nigeria. My international future is with Nigeria. I only hope to continue doing well at club level to attract the attention of the coaches.

'' The Falcons could have made use of my speed at the on-going Women's World Cup in Germany. I think they did not use their speed and that's surprising because they are so fast and physically fit. Looking at the two games played against France and Germany, they could not have found themselves in this precarious position if they had converted their chances. The strikers lacked cutting edge upfront, they could have done better, '' Eseosa, who has scored three goals in seven appearances for the Swiss Under 19s told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Eseosa Aigbogun has drawn comparisons with the former Ufuoma Babes forward, Mercy Akide.

Baro: Medals table please . . . .Heard the host are leading with a wide margin,
National Sports Festival: Rivers, Delta lead medals table
The National Sports Festival, which kicked off 4 days ago in Rivers State, shows the host and Delta state as joint leaders with 20 medals a piece

Host of the 17th edition of the National Sports Festival, Rivers state, are joint leaders with the defending champions, Delta state, at the on-going competition.

The competition which started 4 days ago, showed Rivers and Delta both having 20 medals, according to the medals table released by the games services committee and signed by its chairman, retired Brig-Gen Emmanuel Okaro.

Earlier, chairman of Team Rivers, Boma Iyaye, had said he was happy with his team’s performance so far in the competition and that they would improve on its previous record by winning more medals.

“We know, definitely that the big states, Edo, Ogun and Delta and Lagos, are breathing down our neck and we hope we will be able to beat them.”

“And one thing you have to understand, I am sure , all our gold medals, there is no protest.”

“That will tell you that we have been doing it and winning them and competitively not because we are hosts, but because our athletes are good,” Iyaye said.

“We are not expecting anything less than the best. We expect our athletes to do very well because we have invested so much in them,” Iyaye added.

His words however seem to be on track, as the medals table shows Rivers having 11 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals but are joint leaders with Delta (both having 20 medals) on the medals table, who have 6 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze medals.

Akwa Ibom and Ogun states followed with a total of 11 medals. Akwa Ibom has 5 gold, 6 silver and no bronze medals while Ogun has a gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Edo and FCT have a total of six medals, Imo five medals and Cross River four medals.

The committee said it would continue to update the medals table as the games continued.

In the last edition of the games held at Kaduna in 2009, Team Rivers finished eight on the medals table.

Any CV. that doesn't contain your age and what you graduated with will end up in the dustbin. So you expect the employer to be finding out what you graduated with when he has more than enough CVs on his table? And you think it is for nothing that job adverts expressly set age limits on jobs?

Not true (in all cases) and keep in mind that there are exceptions to most general rules. Also the environment matters. . .

About 2 mönths later, he got invited along with 9 others (6 with 2.2's & 3 with 2.1's) for a written test and later with 4 others (1 with 2.1, 3 with 2.2's) for an oral interview and he came out tops and at the end, he & another dude with 2.1 were the only ones employed.

It was some months later that audit was going through some employee files that it was discovered he finished with a 3.1. The head of recruitment was given a query for the oversight but by then it was kinda late to do anything about him and they just let him be. . . .this was in 2007 and he's stills there as of today.

No be Na wa, na real wa!

For y'all criticizing Uche Eucharia, her anti-G.A.Y stand and outspokeness against lesbianism was one of the things that got her the Falcons job in the first place. I recall it was shortly after she delivered a lecture on lesbianism in a womens football seminar in 2009 that she was commended by Sanni Lulu and appointed as the Super Falcons coach so I ain't surprised by this.

http://www.esinislam.com/News200903/NigerianNews/NigerianNews_0323.htm

I'd only blame her for the lack of exposure which made her speak out and voice her opinions in that kinda  environment (A western Nation - Germany) & setting (A FIFA Womens World Cup) not knowing that the kinda response she got here wouldn't be the kind she'll get in "ilu Oyinbo".

Homosexuality: Okoh urges FG to quit UN
On June 29, 2011

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/homosexuality-okoh-urges-fg-to-quit-un/
By CALEB AYANSINA
ABUJA—The Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Most Revd. Nicholas Okoh, yesterday, called on the Federal Government to pull out of the United Nations Organization, UNO, if it continued  in its recognition of man-lover marriage in the guise of promoting fundamental human rights.

The Primate, who made the call in Abuja at the human rights consultative forum to define the stance of the church on the issue of human rights and homosexuality, described as a wolf in sheep clothing those championing homosexuality under the guise of human rights advocacy.

His words: “In reaction to the role of the UN human rights groups who were using that platform to fight for the two Malawi boys who got married as homosexuals, I said that if the UNO is now an organ for the advancement of Same-sex lifestyle, it was time Nigeria pulled out of that organisation in order to protect the moral health of our nation.

“That Malawi palaver raised many questions in my mind and I believe that many of our church leaders and those others involved in mobilisation and advocacy projects may be having the same problem, because many things are happening rightly or wrongly in the name of human rights.  It has become absolutely necessary to know more about it.

“People were using the UNO as a basis for campaign for general acceptance of homosexuality and we say if that is the situation, then, Nigeria has a moral right to protect its own people and, therefore, Nigeria should not subscribe to that type of tenet.”

“We live our life here; men marry women, women marry men, for anybody to come in the name of human right and begin to advocate that we live without regard to our moral standard is not a friend. This human right is not culturally conditioned.  Doesn’t it have a content?   What is acceptable in China, England, USA, does  it necessarily become acceptable in Nigeria? The Primate queried.

The guest speaker, Dr, Vinay Samuel, from UK in his keynote address, urged Nigerians to be carried away by the quest for human rights that will make them flourish rather than one that was contested, saying every human right must be shaped by the cultural understanding of each area.

He said:  “Nigeria as a much larger nation has to take leadership in seeking to relate human rights to Christian faith and to African culture.

“The church cannot be just defensive in this context. It is a struggle where it must be able to be active in shaping the outcome, not by numbers or moral posturing, but by careful reflection and by proposing substantial alternatives.

“The church is under pressure by the state to align its policies and activities to the view of rights set forth in the states policies and laws. This is very likely the way of the future as states develop policies and laws that are shaped by an understanding of rights that are promoted internationally and businesses, civil society institutions and religious bodies in particular will be forced to comply.

“It is not the universal nature of human personhood that we are contesting as Christian. It is how the rights within that personhood are embedded, defined and enforced. This is also true of cultures the Chinese have long contended that their cultural understanding must shape any set of human rights as any universal description of human rights is someone’s universal.”

I've watched the pre-tournament favourites - Brazil, USA & Germany play and I gats say the France team we lost to is the best team in this competition. I'd even place my money on them to beat Germany in their Final group game.

Most commentators & pundits were of the opinion France was the weakest team in the group and we'd mostly likely get ''any'' 3 points we'd get against them but I was of a different opinion cos I had watched the videos of their last two friendly games against Belgium and realized they were a very good team and as such was only hoping for a draw BUT somehow I'm confident about this Germany game.

There is nothing fantastic about the German team. In fact, their performance against Canada (despite the win) was lethargic and uninspiring. The Super Falcons can beat them if the coach gets her starting eleven right and employ the right tactics

THE GERMAN TEAM WEY PLAY CANADA NOR FIT BEAT US!!
