@ Ceejay80s , I greet u specially. Nice set up you've got there. Tell me, what would it take to use this kinda set up to power a DSTV & StarTimes (I use both) with a 32" LED TV, a home theatre, 5 energy saving bulbs (of course, all will not be on simultaneously) and my 11.6" mini laptop when the need arises. Lastly, how long have you used this set up? |
Lexusgs430:70K for a core i7 & 8gb ram laptop? Guy, what are you smoking? @ OP, this is a no brainer. Getting a tablet should not even be an option. Your final year project is serious work. There'll be lots of typing & correction to do. . .something only a laptop can handle. |
CFCfan:Wow! To say I'm shocked will be an understatement. I wish our Falcons could do same against USA but I know that ain't gonna happen |

olapluto:This is debatable. I prefer Whyte in goal but it needs to be drummed into whoever gets the nod that during corners, its better to stay in the post than come out for crosses so that she can be in a position to make a save. 2. Bring in Njoku, drop Chukwunonye and move Ohale to partner Onome Ebi. This should have been done at halftime against Sweden. Its a no brainer. You cannot play 3 at the back and leave the flanks exposed like that. Ohale was doing too much and it backfired.Wrong! We played 4 at the back against Sweden. Ngozi Ebere (Left Back), Josephine Chukwunonye (Central defence), Onome Ebi (Central Defence) & Osinachi Ohale (Right Back). Ohale was simply not effective at right back. I prefer the coach makes a direct swap. He should drop Ohale to the bench and play Njoku at right back. 3. Keep the midfield as it is. Okobi, Ayinde and Nwabuoku really tried. They held the midfield well, though the 3 at the back somehow disrupted things.I agree with keeping the 3 midfielders. Again it was a 4 (wo)man defence and not 3. . .and they were not disruptive to the midfield. 4. Start Esther Sunday ahead of Ordega against Australia. Why? Because Australia will be out to attack us, and Esther Sunday's runs and dribbles will be key, with Njoku also pushing forward, Australia will be on the backfoot for most of the match.Starting Esther Sunday is a recipe for failure. She is selfish/individualistic, showboats, turns over the ball a lot & not a team player. This does not augur well for team morale. Also her decision making and final ball is very poor. Wetin be the use of legover wey no dey comot defender & beat opponent? Its a 4-3-3. Oshaola and Oparanozie have the speed & skills to work the wings while Ordega can drift into the middle. Njoku will definitely add extra bite to the right wing of our attack. 5. Make substitutions!!!!! For heaven sake, this is artificial turf, the girls will cramp badly if they all play another 90 minutes. Dike, Ini, and even Nkwocha are all ripe to come in.In principle I agree. Players that come into the game will be determined by the match situation. 6. Zonal marking! I know the coach is naive and thus is adamant on man marking, even when height is not to our advantage. Watch Sweden's first goal and see how Fisher sold Ayinde to get a header. We simply cannot do man marking. Let the players have a zone to mark, so they can attack the ball before it gets to the opponent. This will be key against Wambach of USA when the match comes. This is my problem with Internet Coaches. Y'all have watched EPL, La Liga, Serie A etc and you know a lot of football theories and you espouse them and abuse Nigerian coaches. Guy, the reality is Zonal marking is alien to Nigerian football coaching and Nigerian coaches dont teach it. Nigerian coaches always emphasize man marking and its what the players imbibe from their early playing days. Its where the phrase "No free man, mark one person" comes from. Pray, tell, how do u zonal mark with 3 players standing on your goal line? Also, I think its too late in the day to teach the players to defend using Zonal marking. I also doubt the players have the discipline to carry it out effectively. I prefer they stick to that which they know and has always worked for them. The swedes like most European teams played zonal marking and how did it work out for them.? We man marked but completely bossed the game and severely limited their goal scoring chances. 7. Players should try to get at the referee. Often times Nigeria gets bad refereeing because of bad perception, but yesterday, We had only 4 fouls all game, against 14 fouls of Sweden. This is even despite leniency of ref towards Swedes. They got no yellowcards. This must stop! Let our players call attention of refs where needed.Your head dey there. Our players should shout and roll on the floor when tackled to the ground to draw cards for our opponents. A yellow carded player is only half a player. 8. Relax and know that Australia cannot beat Nigeria. I mean if you do not lose against Sweden, and put in better performance, you will surely beat AustraliaAnything is possible but I expect the falcons to nick this. |

BascoVanVeli:Are u for real. I like the Jersey. Unlike our previous jerseys, its body fitting, shape enhancing and brings out the femininity of our players. Even a few neutral observers on redcafe.net and reddit.com have commended the Falcons jersey. |
dodobytes:Bros, u never see where coach make substitution and later reverse substitution? I've seen it happen a few times in football. Heck, it even happened to me. Case in point, friendly match between ISL & CMS Grammar School, I started as Left-Back but their No 7 was so good and fast, I couldn't keep up with him. (no be my fault, I learnt he was also their school's 100m champion ). Coach removed me and brought in the alternate left-back but he was even worse and Coach reintroduced me 10mins into the 2nd half. Needless to say we lost that game ![]() Sometimes, a squad lacks depth and has only 15-18 or so good players that can be competitive, execute a game plan and deliver. We've seen this with many top clubsides. That's the case with the Super Falcons. I only reckon with 18 players in the Falcons team. Was there any need for substitution yesterday, I don't think so. Our first 11 balled and were full of running till the final whistle . Also, the Swedes were not physical and the referee was completely in control. That being said, if I were the Coach would I have made (a) change(s)? YES, a low risk substitution during the 3mins injury time. . . . Bringing in Courtney Dike for Fransesca Ordega basically to run down the clock. Finally, y'all should give the coach some credit. His team was down by 2 goals at half time, and they scored two goals in quick succession on resumption. No be wetin him tell them ginger them to push forward, pile pressure and equalise? You think say e easy to stand for 93mins and be coaching/shouting instructions? Remember, this is the female game and more often than not, the players need to be lead and told what to do. It was his shouted instruction that lead to Okobi playing the ball forward for Oshaola's goal. If u don coach team before, u go know say shouting to your player "player behind u, throwing better" can save the day Also, how come no one is given Coach Okon credit for his work in transforming this team into an intelligent passing, smooth transition, extremely mobile and (wo)man marking one? Compare this Falcons team to that of Uche Eucharia in 2011 and you'll notice a stark positive difference. Uche Eucharia's 2011 team bunkered a lot, was too physical, panicky, could not pass the ball out of defence, looped the ball forward always, lacked mobility and fighting spirit. Close ball control, good use of space & width, wing play, team work were all evident yesterday. Who is responsible for this transformation? No be coach? No be only TV, I dey watch Super Falcons. I have actually been involved with the team as I covered & reported Nigerian female football in the past for a Sports concern. I know them first hand & inside out. ((I have watched Ini Umutong play and she is "overrated". Courtney Dike is good but most people take a liking to her not cos of her footballing skill but her cuteness & "exotic background".) A little tip-off/expo: Y'all should watch out for Ngozi Ebere, in my opinion, one of the best left backs in the women's game. Solid defending ability, good overlapping runs, excellent crosser of the ball and the free-kick/dead ball specialist of the team. I call her Ngozi "Alaba" Ebere. She bends 'em better than Beckham & Messi. ![]() I remain semi-retired. *Going back to operating in ghost mode* |
TheSuperNerd:Lol, u dey welcome me. Na me get here nah ![]() CFCfan and other oldies like FBS and Honeric01 can attest to this. Thanks for the warm welcome ![]() |
3 Observations From Nigeria Vs Sweden Match WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Sweden and Nigeria opened play in Group D on Monday, and combined to deliver a 3-3 draw in a wild encounter at the Winnipeg Stadium. Sweden broke on top through a pair of set piece goals, and was up 2-0 at halftime. But the pace of Nigeria's forwards proved a danger throughout, and two goals three minutes apart from Ngozi Okobi and Asisat Oshoala briefly brought the Super Falcons level. Substitute Linda Sembrant put Sweden back on top in the 60th minute, but Nigeria had the last word, with Okobi setting up Francisca Ordega to fire home in the 87th minute, giving the Super Falcons a deserved draw. 1. Oshoala lives up to hype, but Okobi steals show Oshoala came into the tournament highly regarded after first impressing at the 2014 U20 Women's World Cup, and later with the Super Falcons at the 2014 Africa Women's Championship. Monday, Oshoala largely lived up to the hype, and was a consistent threat along with fellow forward Desire Oparanozie. But while Oshoala threatened repeatedly in the first half, the final touch proved elusive. She picked the pocket of Sweden left back Lina Nilsson in the 18th minute and embarked on a long run only to see her shot go narrowly wide. Oshoala also was unable to make the final pass count as she failed to deliver in the final third. Okobi continually pushed up to join the attack to help Oshoala and Oparanozie get Nigeria back in the game. Okobi scored in the 49th minute, beating Fischer on the turn after being set up by Oparanozie. Okobi then released Oshoala on a clear breakaway three minutes later and the Nigerian forward finally provided the finish she was looking for to level the score. After Sweden reclaimed the lead through Sembrant, it looked like Nigeria's effort would fall just short, especially after Oshoala couldn't redirect an attempted clearance from Emma Berglund on goal. But Nigeria got the equalizer it so richly deserved, and it was Okobi once again at the heart of things. Okobi released Ordega on a breakaway and she slotted home her shot to bring Nigeria level once again. How unlikely was Nigeria's comeback? There were more goals in this game for the Super Falcons than their previous nine Women's World Cup games combined. Nigeria is also the fifth team to get at least at point after trailing by two goals in a WWC game. That said, Nigeria had some history on its side. Back in 2007, Nigeria equalized in the 82nd minute in a 1-1 draw to Sweden in the group stage. 2. Midfield worries for Sweden, even as subs come through At halftime Sweden looked to be cruising. An own goal from Oparanozie and a close-range finish from Nilla Fischer put the Swedes up 2-0, and while Nigeria looked threatening, Sweden looked to be managing okay. But Sweden's midfield seemed to wilt after halftime, making some highly suspect decisions with the ball, and that helped Nigeria get back into the game. That Sweden would manage the game so poorly was stunning given the depth of experience it has. But this Sweden side isn't terribly mobile, and the other teams in Group D -- the United States and Australia, which both possess a lot of speed -- will no doubt take note. When Sweden manager Pia Sundhage brought on Sembrant in the 57th minute, it seemed a case of waiting too long to make a substitution. But Sembrant came through, redirecting a short pass from Nilsson to put the Swedes back on top. Sembrant's goal was no Rembrandt, putting the cross in off her thigh, but it got the job done just the same. But Sweden couldn't hang on, with an injury to center back Berglund after a courageous goal line clearance hurting the Swedish cause. And concerns spread to the back line, too. Despite scoring Sweden's second goal, Fischer had a sub-par performance and played a part in all three of Nigeria's goals. The draw complicates matters somewhat for Sweden, though it should still progress to the second round. But an emotional match against the United States looms, as Sundhage is set to face a U.S. team that she coached for seven years, a period that saw her lead the Americans to two Olympic gold medals and a runner-up finish at the 2011 World Cup. Sundhage has largely stayed away from comparisons about her former team, but the topic will no doubt come up in the days ahead. 3. Where would Nigeria be if it had better goalkeeping? The aerial ability of the game's two goalkeepers was evident from the outset. Sweden's Hedvig Lindahl was secure in her handling and judgment of crosses, and completely dominated her area. At the other end, Nigeria counterpart Precious Dede showed her vulnerability whenever the ball was in the air. The first warning sign for Dede came in the 14th minute when she didn't come close to claiming a cross. The resulting shot was looped wide, but Sweden took note, looking to create traffic in front of Dede on every attacking set piece opportunity. That approach ended up paying off in the 20th minute. Dede seemed hell-bent on coming out for Therese Sjogran's corner, failed to make any contact with the ball, and could only watch as Fischer's header deflected off Oparanozie for an own goal. Nigeria's misery was compounded 11 minutes later on yet another set piece. Another Sjogran corner was headed toward goal but cleared off the line by Ngozi Ebere. The ball was fired back in by Sweden's Lisa Dahlkvist, and Fischer got the final touch from closer range to make it 2-0. On a day when Nigeria was dynamic in attack, the play of Dede proved costly http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-commentary/2015worldcup/article/13038689/three-observations-nigeria-earns-well-deserved-draw-sweden |
Phew! That is the longest post I've made in a long while. By the way, no be must say coach must make changes. If the players on the pitch are doing the job and not at the risk of copping injuries or being sent off then, make dem play full 90mins. |
Courtney Dike & Ini Umutong are not as good as you guys hype them. Esther Sunday & Loveth Ayila would have spoiled the game with unnecessary showboating, poor decision making and bad final balls. Our forward trio of Ordega, Oparanozie and Oshaola best them in all depts. . .skill, ball control, speed, positional play, goal scoring ability etc Bringing any of the aforementioned players in would have impacted the balance, rhythm and pace of our game negatively as our attack would have been blunted. The trio of Ayinde, Okobi and Nwabuoku did very well and completely bossed the midfield. The only thing Okon got wrong was not playing Ugo Njoku and Ibubeleye Whyte at right back and goal respectively. Osinachi Ohale is a central defender and not a wing back. Ugo Njoku is a natural and better fit for that position. Ibubeleye Whyte was in goal for the AWC, Olympic Qualifiers & was clearly the first choice heading into this competition so I'm wondering how Precious Dede leaped frogged her to be first choice. P. Dede is clearly past her prime and doesn't control her goal area. She is also jittery and has problems dealing with crosses. This is clearly one of the cases where experience is overrated. I hope Coach Okon effects these 2 changes to the starting line-up for our games against Australia & the US. 4 best 3rd placed teams qualify to the knockout stages. If we nick Australia, we should be able to make it. Up Super Falcons! Proudly Nigerian! |
Four best placed losers will also advance to the Knock-Out stages so 3 points might just be enough for the Super Falcons #OperationBeatAustralia |

CFCfan:Why must the Super Cup be scrapped? How is it in the way of this proposal? On paper, the Team South (Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1) will have a better pool of players to pick from than the Team North comprising of players from the Premiership, Bundesliga & Russian League* Also, why Russian League and not Eredivisie or Portuguese League? |
Funniest AY comedy dramatization so far. Well acted too. . . |
This is the result of conducting the House of Representatives and Senate elections on the same day with the Presidential. Most of the elected APC members just rode on the APC/Buhari wave to victory. If the House of Rep and Senate elections were done on different days, I tell you the outcome would have been different as the battles would have been more localized and there wouldn't have been that bandwagon effect Nigeria is descending into a one party state and my intuition is the APC won't be quite as tolerant of opposition as the Jonathan led PDP was. For the sake of democracy in Nigeria, I hope the PDP puts up a better showing in the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections. |
@ jaybee3, do you mind updating that your result spreadsheet It is appreciated. Thank you |
It's Over! Jonathan has lost this one. I got disullisioned with Jonathan's Government a long time ago hence I kept a low profile and refrained from campaigning for him this election season. Change is here. Let's see how well the PDP plays opposition politics |
