OK. Busybody2.

I can understand from your posts you have want Tehn, as a group and individuals to stay off your case, is that right? You have no reason to raise this again if they do that? If this is the case then I think that can be done.

Will the cease fire be extended to your real life instituted case against them ( if any)? Cos you know it wouldn't be fair to ask them to keep quiet while a case is being thrown at them, considering they are nairalanders with most of their help activities done online.

Also, from what I've gathered so far from you, you still believe there are good guys in Tehn and that Tehn itself is a capable organisation ( regardless of the issues you raised) so I'm sure you won't want the organisation to go down through you. Withdraw any case against them (if there is), and let everyone stay in their lane?

Pls jaybee3 Oamj4, pls can you roll with above?

Thanks pickabeau for stepping in.

I've know Tehn since maybe when it was started. This shouldn't be happening and allowed to fester, considering the calibre of guys there and the future as a group.

Busybody2, pls oam4j and pickabeau have tried to explain and apologise including for your children. Find it in your heart to forgive and move on pls.

We should learn to put ego aside ( even if it chokes us and threatens to burst our veins). We would have learnt another level of humility. It can drain us of the will needed to move forward, but true test of character and mentality can't be better than this... If anyone needs apologies, pls shower it.

This can make for good entertainment for some time, till ppl start getting irritatated and start lashing at everyone.
Nairaland General › Re: Nairaland/General Section Chatroom by semitunde: 12:34am On Jul 20, 2015
What can we do to swiftly put this behind us and move on? I had thought this would have been quickly brought to bed.

Tehn, I hope you guys can tell this isn't going away...dealing this with silence may have been the better option if its not repeatedly rearing its head. This Tehn individuals vs Tehn group thing is getting confusing honestly.

Busybody2, what do you want Tehn or individuals of Tehn to do to swiftly put this behind us and move on?

I don't know if oam4j speaks for Tehn or individually here, but I'm sure he's asking the same question one way or another, while also asking you to understand that the group is made of humans, just like you.

People wrong people in all sorts of ways, sometimes deliberately, but at other times unconsciously/ innocently. You feel wronged, some Tehn members also feel same by you. Since we are all aware of this, let's move to reconciliation.

Can we do that?

It's basically about the acts of the apostles after Christ's death (everything from Acts--wherever they decide to stop). Quite interesting sometimes. Boring other times.
OK thanks. Have you watched that Dare Devil? Which other one are cool? Apart from the usual suspects 24, GOT, Spartacus?

UjSizzle:
So I'm guessing everyone has been in this situation before: You see a series and it looks good. The plot seems promising, cool (even cute) actors, nice script, and maybe free wifi to download weekly. You fall in love with this series and can't wait to watch the next episode.

....And then one day after a few seasons all that enthusiasm dies. You're practically bored brainless with the same thing you once loved and won't be bothered with what's coming next.

Have you been here before (don't lie we know everything)?Which series have you "broken up" with?

Do you know why you lost interest in it?

Please share.

I'll go first.

Dead Relationships
Once Upon A Time (Made me yawn a lot after the first season).

Grey's Anatomy (Darn thing won't end and all that sappy love drama and hexagon were getting annoying).

Criminal Minds (Same shiit all the time).

Gilmore Girls (Sad thing since it was really funny until mama Gilmore's drama became to much to handle).

Charmed (zzzzzzz)

Lost (I got lost. Daz all).

Soon to be nipped in the bud
Salem (if I don't see any action soon ie. someone killing someone, I'll get rid of it).

The vampire diaries (Romance is good; too much romance isn't. Kill somebody please!)

A.D (The bible story is cool but I crave action and it's not happening and Peter smiles too darn much).

Okay. Now your turn cheesy
Can you pls explain A.D? Is it interesting so far? I'm looking for a good series to while away time this hols. Thanks

He has to perform yes! But performing takes time. It is not something that can be made to materialize like just by using a wand.

You speak of resignation? In just barely two months you're already complaining. I wonder why you didn't complain during the last 6 years?.

If PMB can not do this, if PMB can not do that, please perish the thought!. Whoever is expecting shouldn't be expecting things to turn around over night!.

Performing and providing for Nigerians takes careful and astute planning. Takes why I believe PMB is taking his time in making key decisions.

Never forget, Nigeria is a polity full of tribal and religious sentiment, any appointment made might spark tribal/religious sentiment. You saw that thread by barcanista where he accused the North of zoning the office of the NSA to them.

That thread is a clear pointer why PMB needs to be very careful with the way he makes his policies and appointments. Never forget, he's been labeled a BH apologist and sympathizer.
It funny when you consider that most guys as this didn't vote PMB. How can you expect so much from someone you never entrusted with your vote?

Those of us who voted him are quite satisfied with the trend and changes we are seeing so far.

If it's the church he attends and he's well know there or looking to be, he should do it for free ( especially if the fee is as low as what you quote here); trust me, the goodwill and referrals would easily augment the amount lost in time.

Mostly, he should just follow his conscience.

I thought it's the Institute of Ecology. There is no need for another senate building, at least, not now. There is a just completed senate building extention beside Humanities Block 3 (Deptartment of English). The 2nd phase of Faculty of Pharmacy has been completed behind the existing one.
Don't mind them, guess they always wanted another denat building. When CBN came along and asked for which projecr they needed done, as they do to all schools, they simply passed the big budget project to them; maybe thinking any other project will have lesser budget and can be taken care of internally or through alumni.

Its a billion naira project I suppose.

Jimoh Ibrahim, an alumni, built the magnificent new Postgraduate School Complex opposite Intecu.
If there is anything the management of OAU tries to maintain, it is the school's masterplan. Arieh Sharon did a good job.
Ehen, where is that located? Unifecs?

I mean people could probably just go there in person and check it.

all this construction seems fairly recent, are other federal universities having the same?
Don't know about other universities but I know OAU has and leverages on its strong alumni. We even have alumni hall, and prominent guys like Jimoh Ibrahim, Erastus Akingbola helped chip in when required.

The fact the the school already has a master plan it tries to follow, helps everyone to know where and how to come in.

quite a lot of construction ? huh

you don't have to put them here, most people could probably just check it themselves.

They used to have a book featuring a photographic tour of the campus, wish it were still available to buy? huh
Nah, I doubt you'll find this online. OAU doesn't have a tradition of showing ongoing works. The project has only just begun.

ok,

the old photos also show a lot of palm trees on the campus, those are all gone now, so I guess there are modifications over the years. Now its mainly flowering and fruit trees.

eg, this palm tree in front of Oduduwa Hall, no longer there:

Not sure of the date of the photo.

hope its too secure for expo.
This looks like a very old pix. Not sure, the palm tree may still be there.

OK. I can see its a pix, this doesn't show the actual location.

I have pics of the architecture design and on going works but I'll need permissions to put them online.

well, they can modify the scale I guess, without compromising the design basics.
Its what's being looked at currently.

As per the old one being enough, I heard that it was originally part of master plan to site the senate building at its new location. Maybe the old one will become the administrative building. Already, Exams and Records has occupied the new completed wing of the now "old" senate building.

I think the old one is ok but I guess change is constant.

I hope they don't build one of those unflattering modern designs though?

wonder if the greenery is vanishing from there . . . . . . . . . .
Lol. The design is OAU specs. But I fear changes would be made cos the funds can't cover the original design.

Can't say more than that for now...

Federal University Kogi was also shown, although the book lawn with the waterfall looks like photoshop, unless someone can provide a close up picture from different angles.
Many of the pictures of especially the foreign universities here have been taken with high tech cameras. Many of them automatically enhance the pictures, hence more colourful.

Also, I think the weather in many European countries help. They don't have the brown/ orange tinge associated with dust flying around.

OK. My bad, I didn't see the other schools.

You're right. Arieh Sharon put into consideration some climatic conditions before he designed the campus.
You know a new Senate building is being built? I kinda know one or two things about that...

To be located opposite the bookshop, beside HSLT. That are of land beside the first bus top when you get into the school.

Work has started already. CBN funded.

I just finished reading some informative facts about the University of Ife (now OAU) on the website of Arieh Sharon, the Israeli architect that designed the campus.
I saw the Covenant University ( funny the school itself was built borrowing from the OAU concept), and I thought the oduduwa hall (not Amphi theater), with all its light would beat that easily.

Covenant is the only Nigerian university shown here apart from OAU.

Government funds too many schools.

Fact is....if you want first class...you pay for first class.

And right now...thanks to the drop in oil money....we do not have the cash for first class...oreven third class.

Yes I know...corruption.....but a good university with all those facilities you see.....they are made possible by 1) High fees 2) Universities over there being run as private concerns 3) High taxes. and 4) Situated in countries with diversified economies. If you want that kind of class....better be prepared to pay for it.Even if we eradicate corruption tomorrow....the govt does not have N3 trillion or even the N10 trillion needed for our universities.

And before you call me harsh.....I know.I hate what I have just said.If I had my way....students will pay N10000 per annum. But it is because they pay that amount of money....that we can not have high class facilities. (And during my parents time...they had everything. Also....the population of university students in Nigeria back then was less than the population of students in ABU or UI today.).

But overall....you are paying the price for living in a resource dependent economy. That is why Buhari better get us off oil dependency....or he gets out by 2019.Oil is a curse.
So how are the Scandinavian Universities being run?

Isn't their tuition mostly free? Even for foreigners

I don't have tocheesy. I grew up in Nigeria and I know how terrible our buildings are.
But you never went to OAU though...

Visit when you're around... It won't change your perspective, but it will show you we still have hope.

Besides, OAU wasn't built or designed to be like most foreign universities, its consept was uniquely based on taking advantage of its environment and climate. You will get it wrong, trying to compare it with modern foreign buildings.

For instance, one of the building I took there has natural lighting that looks like its electricity driven, but its simply naturally illuminated.
