I laugh in latin, when I was in OAU about two years ago, th place look so dirty and unkept except for the colleges and admin block but the hostel, and all other areas is crap. I told my brother then that this is no more a school cos there is no sense of orderliness and I'm 100% sure a criminal can hide in that school without anybody noticing.

UI is good and beautifull but I've not been to the rest so that's ur answer OAU is living on past glory
But was the person you were quoting talking particularly about OAU when replying you?

Besides your observation are personal to you. You could be right or wrong. Your observation is also not singular to OAU, its part of the problems we are trying to solve as regards Education.

What do you mean by a criminal can hide in the school? It doesn't make much sense. I'd it because its a university or because it has lots of trees, or cos according to you it lacks orderliness ( which is false by the way)? Pls explain.

just2endowed:
Seriously, they extort like: word cannot describe it. In fact, they are the most corrupt government agencies for now. They will never display prices list. U ask them price they be shouting at u. If u come with a package that's less than 5 gram, they be telling u to pay heavily. My brother, I use them in few occasions and they are not friendly at all. They just believe in extorting a novice.

They will issue u a receipt without writing the amount on them. Mehn, these nipost staff need wind of change.
Its because you don't challenge them. My wife shops online and imports the products. For every package they'll call her and tell her to bring N500 logistic charge. Sometimes she would complain to.me.that the package is not worth more than 1k. Why should she pay N500 for its delivery.

I stepped in and told her to use my name henceforth. I would collect the packages myself.

The next package, I went there, wifey decided to follow cos I can "carry fire for head" sometimes Lol. They asked for the money and I asked what for? They ( two huge women), said that's how its done, showed me another customer with a very huge parcel and said she paid N2000. I told them I can't dispute that but my package isn't of the same size and weight, and that they should show me list of charges per weight, or size that they're using to know exactly how much to charge.

Another staff joined them and asked why I wanted that info since its been the norm for a while and I should have known that cos I had been importing stuffs. I said I don't know and if I see a document that says I should pay whatever amount, I'll pay and get an official receipt for it.

I told them that if they've not noticed, we are in a new era, they must key into it too if they expect the country to change. I sermonised for the next 5mins about the need for honesty in workplace and how it would affect all of us, I wasn't smiling at all. By the time I was done the whole staff had faced me.

I didn't pay a dime from that day, except when the package goes beyond a particular weight and its indicated that the receiver should pay. I collect receipts for such- N500 so far. All other times, its free.

If you don't know and you dont have the guts to ask questions. Other would "hammer" and do Thanksgiving on monies like yours. My wife later told me that sometimes they even tell her to open the package to see what's inside which is totally inappropriate.

Ask questions and stand your ground for answers, especially if you're the one paying the money to them.

You mean government should look the other way while a whopping $2.2b develop wings?

did you ever think how far that money will go in actualizing all those things you want government to divert their attention to?

What if this current administration also divert such money meant for power , housing, health , education etc because nobody will have time to probe them?

Let whoever is found wanting face the music and let's keep sentiment aside.
One day they say

" focus on other things and reduce the focus and energy poured into the anti corruption drive, just get the guys, we don't have to make the process a media focus";

(As if the DSA and EFCC are the only two govt agencies and ministry working. As if other ministers have all been commenting and working on the armsgate. As if stopping the media from covering whatever story won't be seen,by the same deluded set of people, as gagging the press.)

while on another day they would say " why shroud things in secrecy, follow due process, we want to know what goes on step by step! The government has to be transparent!"

undecided

Confused and illogical lot.

Naira exchanges 305 naira to the dollar today. Can we stop discussing this nonsense and propose how I can import groundnut from China and sell in Lagos ?
Why must you import groundnut from anywhere? How about use the money to get good groundnuts here and sell abroad. The current exchange rate would even be to your advantage if you export!

Properties › Re: (photos)rampant Structural Window Cracks! Why? by semitunde: 4:16pm On Jan 12, 2016
In addition to what some have said here, these are my personal observations and what I've tried to read up on;

1. If you don't do your plaster mix well, you will have cracks. This will become more prominent the more soft-non grainy sand you have in the mix.

The areas where the cement ( binding agent) is missing will just have your soil there and because cement naturally shrinks when drying; it will shrink the areas where it has bound the plaster sand together, leaving the area where there is no cement as gaps - cracks. I'll advise you supervise the guys mixing for plastering more ( you can use a mixer to be more satisfied); and maybe add a little sharp sand if the plaster sad is too muddy or soft.

2. How many courses of block wall do you do before stopping to allow the blocks set? If you lay more than four courses - and depending on the terrain; you might be on the way to cupping some cracks on the wall. This is in addition to having non-vertical/ leaning walls. Its best you do just four courses ( some would risk five) and stop there.

3. The fact that those houses are in Jos does not mean that they can't have differential settlement related cracks. The fact that some houses are bungalows also doesn't mean the building can't settle and hence, have cracks. But be more worried if those crack are diagonal and deep set.

I suggest you go tru bigrovar's post ahead Where he presented details to assist in recommending solar panels etc.
You need to list ur appliances and the number of hours of use etc.
They way you placed your question might not get answers here.
so kindly rephrase sir.
OK. Thanks.

An electrical ENGR that designed the building recommended 5kva inverter. Since we would want the inverter to be charged by solar power and for the inverter to work for at least 5hrs; I felt the supplier or someone knowledgeable in the solar panels and inverters would be able to advice on the appliances needed and the cost.

But thanks I'll look for the post.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by semitunde: 11:37am On Jan 10, 2016
chris81964:
You can do the math yourself
Figure the Watt hours divide by 24 to determine your consumption in AH. That number is how many AH you use. Now determine the minimum depth of discharge for your batteries and increase the ah to compensate.
Then divide the total Watt hours by 4.5 if no NEPA or 6 if you have NEPA. That will answer the question about your Panels.
Pls, Can you give a configuration with cost, of a 5kva inverter supply with solar panel?

The capacity and type of batteries needed, type of inverter recommended, type/size/no of panels and cost for the required solar panels to charge the set up?

Thanks.

Apart from the massive crowd in each of these places, what I noticed was the sheer number of non-yoruba ( forget non-Ibadan) fun seekers at these places.

I got used to hearing a mish-mash of local languages, predominantly Igbo.

10. Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)

A school of pretty, intelligent and innocent northern girls. You can hardly find such array of beautiful northern girls in any campus..my future wife is from here..lol!

9. Anambra State University (ANSU)

Filled with blessed future mothers with pretty figures you do like to see every morning when you wake and every night before you sleep.

8. University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN)

The school of lions and lionesses. These lionesses are so intelligent, pretty and homely that you do like to take them to your mama.

7. Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)

Trust me, I have personally been to this school before. Just incase you decide to write JAMB again or you are writing JAMB now and you see a pretty young girl near you, ask for her school of choice, it will be OAU.

6. Covenant University (CU)

The school for the rich and religious minded… The school for the overly beautiful Nigerian half spoilt/half alright babes. The girls of CU are combination of beauty and Brains and most importantly, these beauty and brains are expensive, I mean, really expensive!!

5. University of Portharcourt (UNIPORT)

A school of solid chicks..i call them 'Ororo babes' (oil babes) The Oil money around the vicinity turns even the ugly to beauties. All the beautiful girls you have seen and your head couldn’t understand why a human being could be that beautiful must have a root in UNIPORT.

4. Lagos State University (LASU)

In this multi ethnic city of Lagos, a great deal of beauties from across the country seek admission into Lagos state university, the next time you enter a taxi and you see pretty girl by your side, tell her you are a LASU student or graduate and she will hug you very well and tell you her department.

3. YABA College of Technology (YABATECH)
Can’t just miss this school of pretty buchachas. YABA TECH has one of the prettiest-denomination of girls you can seek around campuses in Naija..their beauty can make you to YABAleft, hehehe!

2. Imo State University (IMSU)

I can swear you won’t see an ugly girl in IMSU. Even the ugly girls in IMSU can win beauty pageant against their neighbouring schools with names like F..O, A…N, N….E etc I didn’t mention any name ooooooo na you sabi.

1. University of Lagos (UNILAG)

The school of beauties…eyin Omo eko! The school has made it a routine to adopt the prettiest of girls from Queens college Yaba every year during UTME. The only p is… Dem too dey form!.

Oya, rep your school ASAP!

MizMyColi:
The Shadow Cabinet Of Nigeria in a state of utter shock and dismay hereby decry the coordinated‎ bombings in Yola and Kano in the past 72 hours resulting in 49 deaths and many injured, worse still, the alleged case of 105 missing soldiers as reported in the media.
‎
We are aware of the recent press statement by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, that no army officer is missing.‎

‎We beg to differ on this.
We have reached out to a few reliable sources within the ranks of the Nigerian military and we can confirm that things are very bad, the Nigerian press seem to be covering up a lot of things.

Could it be that the Nigerian Army and FG have colluded to quash this issue of grave concern by maintaining plausible deniability‎, in a bid to forestall a campaign similar to the BringBackOurGirls movement?

At this point, we demand to know the men who make up the 175 battalion, we demand a proof of life. Also, we demand undeniable proof that all vehicles, a truck loaded with over 60,000 rounds of AA ammunition and artillery pieces be accounted for‎.
‎
As a matter of National emergency and urgency we charge the presidency to take the following steps:-‎

1. Conduct a more thorough investigation and release an official press statement confirming or denying such reports. Nigerians deserve to know the truth.
‎
‎‎
2. Inform the Nigerian people on steps being taken to ensure the safe return of our gallant and brave soldiers to their families and loved ones, in the case that this report is officially declared to the general public as true.‎

3. Employ every might and resource to ensure that the Nigerian Army #BringBackOurSoldiers‎ ALIVE.
‎
The Boko Haram insurgents have been reported as the world's deadliest terrorist organisation. Such negative and shameful development is a far cry from President Muhammadu Buhari's promise to annihilate Boko Haram within two months of assuming power.

The Chibok girls saga is yet to be resolved and at the time of this release, we have an alleged case of missing soldiers on our hands.‎

If this eventually turns out true, then it is a monumental embarrassment; A slap on our military might.
This cannot be handled with kid gloves.
‎
We urge all hands to be on deck.
Our collective resolve as a people must be to shun terrorism in all it's forms.‎
In all sincerity and purpose, we hope that this alarming news turns out false, however, in a case where such is confirmed, our hearts and prayers go out to the families‎ of the missing soldiers who are yet unsure of the fate of their husbands, sons, and fathers.
Moreso, we commiserate with the families of all the victims in the recent bomb blasts.‎ We pray that they be granted fortitude to bear such immense loss.
‎
We equally encourage our soldiers out there on the battlefield not to despair.‎
‎
Nigeria will rise.‎
#SayNoToTerrorism‎

OK. Can you pls point out the areas you personally think can be improved upon; or areas that critically need prioritised govt engagement, keeping in mind areas that would benefit the populace in terms of employment and / business opportunity?

I like the fact that you see this situation we have found ourselves in the southwest have little political colouration beyond access to, and influence of the federal govt.

Truth is, some governors are just damn lazy when you get to the basics of governance. But they cover up easily by "communicating" - using all means possible, what their populace want to hear.

I hope you're not referring to the artistry of the setup. I'm talking about how the sound is incorporated into the setup, not the beauty or otherwise of it.

If one was to use the wireless sound system in the pics I posted, how will it be incorporated, in that setup, especially as there is a projector screen scroll up installed.

Just asking for your input in that area.

Sir semitunde,

I tried making the video of the setup but time and busy schedule won't permit me. But here are some pics to inspire you. The possibilities is endless.

I use LG Wireless Soundbar (35mm slim wall mountable with Active Wireless Sync so adding other speakers is never a prob) with Apple TV at home. So music and videos can be taken into any room without physical connections.
You know some of those things always look good during promotion. I would love to see a real, actual deployment of of such.

Here are pics of a clients place I constructed. He showed me how he did his decor after he moved in... You'd notice the speakers within the POP. This was done throughout the whole house except the first floor where we had the speakers fixed within the wall ( shown in third pix).

We provided a space for a scroll up projector screen, with the TV behind it. So I'm thinking maybe in place of the TV, we have the LG wireless sound bar sound system ( the 35mm slim wall mounted one)? But then, where would the TV be? Cos from the pix you put here, the sound system is as big as the TV. Or am I the one seeing it wrongly?

Will take these pics down as soon as you see it as I don't have permissions to post them. Just like the post when you see it.
