Ikengawo:
yoruba pseudo-intellectuals are a serious national handicap. I've never seen a group of people so completely void of a stance, viewpoint or backbone. Anything that happens they'll sway with the breeze and be for and against it at the exact same time, and it's never and issue the helps or advances their own people. They'll always own the issues of others on their own head while their own homeland is devoured by others. While this man is clamoring for Nigeria to condemn Israeli occupation of Palestine, Fulani occupation of Illorin is never mentioned because it would require them to show some sort of courage or actual sacrifice. As long as they can talk from a distance they channel their lust for bad belle and gossip into that issue so intensely that it will shock anyone. Then when it comes time to discuss the issues that effect them, nothing. All because that would require them to do something immediate and courageous. They'll just talk and talk without being for or against everything while being for and against everything at the same time.

Let mister Oloyede vote to recognize an Oba of Illorin to the face of it's Fulani Emir. Which one concerns you with Palestine? Even the Bakassi that Obasanjo sold to Cameroon, what is his stance on this? Ridiculous
Let me get you right:

On the one hand, you want Yorubas to drive away Hausa-Fulanis from Ilorin; while on the other hand igbos like you want to be treated like southwesterners in the southwest, or at least as citizens of Nigeria.

What did I miss?

What you have done is simply a DISTORTION of the Bible's words.
No more! No less!!

Below is the quote of the verses in two versions:

First is the King James Version (KJV)

The next one is the Basic English Version.

From: http://www.christnotes.org/bible.php?q=1Cor+9%3A19-23&ver=kjv&ver=bbe

The "context" is to bring the various categories of people into salvation and NOT to endure and/or glorify in participating/partaking in whatever they are doing while PRETENDING to seek souls to be saved for Christ.
See the difference huh

It is this type of your distortion that leads many astray from spiritual well-being and more importantly ensures that we Africans do not identify and relate some of the key lessons from Christ to relevant elements of our own TRADITIONAL beliefs in order to emancipate ourselves from MENTAL slavery.
I wish you will DESIST!
You need to read that passage again, pay particular attention to verse 22; ask for understanding and change your paradigm.

No wonder most pastors are now gunning after money.

Jesus did not call church business! He said we should preach the gospel to all and give of what we have or all that we have to it.

The life of Christ and His teachings are the fulfilment of His father's business. Its different from the way churches are run especially today. If our pastors are Christ like (Christians) they would own nothing. Talk less of have billions in the midst of poverty and lack.

But how will churches become oil companies if they don't turn them into businesses.

I dare not venture out there this period, it will be jam packed. But in between ventura, heritage and the palms malls the crowd of fun seekers should thin out.

Seriously, it might look like a crusade ground during this festive periods. But I'm commited to taking my parents there and they've insisted that's the place for this Xmas period.

I read somewhere here that the gate fee is 2k. It should reduce the crowd but there will still be enough hold a crusade, unless people don't know its now opened.

The next for the government to renovate is the Trans Amusement park. Its another money spinner being allowed to slowly crumble away.

Ife might be the best public school in the country but its still as useless as the rest. Do you think your degree holds value outside Nigeria??
Do you know LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL in lekki has the highest ranking In nigeria cos their mba program made it to the top 100 in the world. Guess how much is their school feeshuh 2.5million per session.
Can a common man afford that?? Of course not.

Sometimes, I wonder if Nigerians get tired of being shoved around and put under by the political class..
Rather, they take delight in mediocrity just like you doing.. no offense
@ the bolded, you have no idea...

The educational standard in the country is no t remarkable but UNIs like OAU compensate for that by testing your stress quotient.

You will be forced to learn what you need and what you don't, just in case you find yourself on open seas. You won't pass easily. That way, whatever you come out with, its either you're sure you can defend it, or you're convinced you can do better.

You need to do your research, OAU students have been exemplary in mostly all the schools abroad.

I remember a letter an American university wrote to the HOD of Chemical Engineering, congratulating him and asking how they managed to consistently churn out such brilliant graduates as they have noticed. The letter was read in class to encourage us when we were complaining that OAU just gives unnecessary stress.

In my department, every assignment or test is a project. You will research, cite and list. Civil Engineering. You think I would come out and wouldn't be angry to succeed?

One thing the writer must know is that Buhari's campaign isn't just an emotion-driven campaign, it is based on a singular issue (I stand to be corrected) and that issue is "genuine war against corruption". One doesn't need to tell you how "monies saved from plugging leakages" would be deployed. The thing is, once these leakages are contained, things would simply work as they are supposed to. Contractors would execute jobs they are paid to do. Pronouncements on paper/budgets would be transformed to visible structures on the ground. You won't have a situation where the only progress visible would be those on paper in some polls conducted by the country's finance minister!!

When you fix corruption (and stealing), you invariably fix 80% of this country's problems.
The 80/20 principle: 80% of problems are caused by minority 20%. Face that 20% ( corruption and cabal in Nigeria's case), and the rest of the 80% will simply fall in line.
Health › Re: RIP DJDOLA- We Will Miss You by semitunde:
Good morning and God bless everyone for their contributions. The fact that we have different opinions does not mean we are working at cross purposes.

To be clear, I know for a fact that no one in his or her right mind will point a finger of corruption or incompetence towards any TEHN member. We have continuously seen the dedication and organisation with which they have worked. The areas where the issues are, have been noticed by most here: the dedication/ honesty of the hospital staff in treatment of DJ as regards payments.

While the solution to that ( as suggested) is to have a doctor within, the truth is that no doctor has volunteered so far ( or at least I've not seen any). I understand those in TEHN are just broadly read but may not be in the medical line, so they can only use their instincts while also weighing in the fact that's its a life that is at stake. TEHN has not been wrong on that.

What is wrong is what I pointed out subtly much earlier on this thread. Communication. Psychology of the feeling that others are involved in doing something, of feeling needed or wanted. I will explain.

Without diminishing the works of TEHN and those involved in the project ( who I honestly can give hugs everytime each of them posts); I warned that this project, shouldn't be labelled a TEHN project because it didn't start as one.

Again while TEHN has worked assiduously in front and behind the scenes people have settled into the fact that capable hands on deck, the situation is being managed professionally, everything is under control, we should just wait for updates. This had curtailed the Inquisition of information and the inputs from some others who otherwise would have chipped in with theirs or even volunteered. The volunteers might include doctors or student doctors.

But TEHN has been so professional, that many have assumed they have all the boxes ticked including having the capacity in terms of personnel to deal with any issue. A more open debate of issues as they come up would have highlighted this anomaly earlier, and a solution provided.

Finally, from my experience, any project that does not have issues or ruckus along the line from start to finish has failed in an aspect. Either it didn't communicate enough or has spent more, or both.

We don't have to get a full time doctor who may not be available but can even use nairalanders doing their housmanship, even medical students.

We need a call out for this, Seun can also help put this thread back on front page. pickeabeu1 can help update on this info on page 1 and the current page so that those who are interested in this can quickly see the info. It will be good to also determine which other area we need shoring up.

Sorry for.the long post. I type like this before I forget what I want to say.

Good job everyone.
