PassingShot: I agree with your submission but my question is, would you have preferred a Tinubu in the mold of Joshua Dariye, James Ibori, Alameisigha, Igbinedion and others who looted their state's treasury, didn't create jobs by establishing companies and of course not politically relevant today.
I maintain that Tinubu may have involved in shady deals to become what he is today, but unfortunately he still belongs to the current crop of political leaders we have in Nigeria. Even the young ones coming after them are on record to have commited worse crimes in looting and excessive corruption.
In what mold of a political leader would you have preferred a Tinubu, given the Nigeria of today? The last sentence is a very intelligent question that needs deep introspection. Mizmycoli, take your time and answer this carefully. |

Please i really need advice on this. Well, its good you have your approval docs, but I think if you have evidence showing you have started tge process of approval, you can start works. Now if you go back and read my post again you'll see that I did write that I'll use engineers when and where necessary.
I just think having an engineer onsite daily during the build is a waste of resources. Well maybe not on a daily basis if you have an experienced building person. But safe is better than sorry. Also, decisions from unforseen occurrences can be immediately taken without wasting time and any attendant cost implications. No I'm not scaring you bro, just advising. |

Nice work guys. Been a while I did pile foundation.
Guys should note the pile cap excavations. Its not in all cases that you'll need to excavate. It just depends on the finished level required. In some cases, you may even have to increase the size of the cap to make up for height if too low.
Also, this is where the expertise of those doing the piling comes to bear. If the location of the bore points are inaccurate, you'll have issues when casting the pile caps, especially the double caps.
Good job op. |

I felt at some point he was over dramatising some thing to gain quick popularity ( while admittedly getting the job done) and that looked whimsical to me. This didn't stop my respect for him though. The lowest for odumakin was his voicing support for the removal of Jega and asking for election postponement too and I felt the saying that " THERE IS NO MAN THAT CAN'T BE BOUGHT IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT" aptly described some pro democracy activists in Nigeria, apologises to the likes of Wole Soyinka, pastor tunde bakare, shehu musa, festus keyamo and others who still give hope to average Nigerians that there are still few with conscience. The question is what if the person did not give it to the owners or e.g if I identify Omenka PVC and I know he will vote for Apc, I may withhold it till after election. That is minus one vote for Apc and when he gets to Inec office they will tell him that somebody has collected it for him. Who? They don't know. That is what I termed human interference. This your assertion, if true, will still reflect as the number of PVC collected. If it was rampant, then Ogun PVC collection count should be much higher. |

When you damage another person's car i.e the insurance company will repair that persons vehicle and not yours, same thing if your vehicle hits a person, the company will settle the medical bills.Your limit on 3rd party insurance is N1million. Third party insurance isn't really for the other car that scratches your car. Else it won't be that cheap to get.
Its for the third party involved in the case of any accident. For instance, if during a collision your car hits a passer by, that person us the third party and is entitled to your insurance.
Nobody thinks of these in such situations though... |

ShehuAba: Actually I wonder what this thread tend to achieve. The fact that those parties called for ING then means what?
May be you should be reminded that ACN was not even in existent them, it was AC. And to even make matters worse for you, how could you compare 2007 with 2015. 8 years which is more than enough to change any political mindset.
I ask thee again. Are you now calling for an ING. This is what I'm still a little confused about. Leaving out the change in party and maybe ideology (he's human); I still can't wrap my head around this post that seems to suggest the need for ING simply because some parties 8years ago suggested it. The difference between then and now is that those who made the call for ING were not in govt and the failed. Its different from this situation where a sitting president / govt, potentially limitless in power and influence, is the one purported to be angling for ING! Besides, his initial post, that started the "double agent" accusations, was trying to make us see that ING was not possible. This post is quite contrary to that one. Unless he's saying that because the initial one failed hence, the one being planed would also fail. If this is his argument, then i must say it is shallow and naive. I'm quite slow to also say it is dubious because I can understand that it may be a sort of emotional backlash against the way he felt.he was treated by his co-progressives. |

Busybody2: Babymama1, I left that DJ thread because of what this odious, vile, thicko, pond scum called Isale$*?@:# said on DJ's thread. What she is referring to happened over 2 years ago on a charity thread, the only ONE post I made to Perx stated she was not a suitable candidate for surgery because she has Fibromyalgia that no reputable hospital would operate on her, etc...people jumped on me telling me to shut up, get out of the thread, etc...never mind the fact that Perx's response to me included "thanks busybody"...PERX DIED...people now later came to post that I should have been allowed to talk...(see below)
Now I try to talk about the hospital in DJ's case but got antagonised and was told to shut up by same oam4j people who said I should have been allowed to talk in Perx' case...I don't understand human beings anymore and would have given up on them if not for God...
March 7th 2012 - Stumbled on this... And yes I must say I agree with all of what oam4j said there . Didn't know you before the DJ thread but that was the perception I got from tour personality. I've had life long friends like that... An advise dear, you have a good way with words and others know that, they will be defensive of such even when needlessly. Don't give the chance for s discussion to linger on you- not saying you shouldn't hold your ground, just not let it linger long. The times you stayed off and came back later worked nicely. Regardless of opposing opinions, there will be people who will dispassionately look through your points and note them. Have a lovely week. |

TonySpike: Do you know what is called right-of-way? Building a new railway track on an existing right-of-way is technically supposed to significantly reduce the overall project costs. This is a superior advantage the Abuja-Kaduna railway project has over Lagos light rail project.
For those who don't know, the Lagos light rail project is a dual project that also involves the reconstruction and upgrading of Federal highway from 6-lanes to 10 lanes. A BRT lane is also incorporated into this design. This is in addition to the light rail track been fitted alongside the road constructions. This project is the biggest infrastructural construction in West Africa. Right-of-way is being expanded to cater for the ambitious project hence leading to several demolition of structures and consequent compensations. The OP needs to study more on project management and cost analysis! This is the most informed post I've read so far here. Captures my thoughts exactly. |

bigfrancis21: Quit spreading lies and false information purportedly. Do you think your claims cannot be verified by one click of google?
Let us get our facts straight:
Benin: The major languages of nearby Benin republic are Fon and Adja with a combined total of 54%. Yoruba comes third with a figure of 12.3%. This is coming from the very same CIA factbook you quoted. Thanks to you inadvertent exposure. Now the population of Benin is 10.32 million, 12.3% gives 1.27 million Yoruba language speakers. Add that figure to about 21 - 24 million Yoruba language speakers in Nigeria (SW + Kogi E.T.C) and you will have about approximately 25 million.
Togo: it has been falsely spread on nairaland that 'Yoruba is a major language in Togo', with Adebayor Emmanuel of Arsenal often quoted as a 'Togolese Yoruba'. Yoruba language as we know it is not an official nor recognized language in Togo and has never been, and Emmanuel Adebayor's parents are Yorubas from Nigeria living in Togo who visit Nigeria regularly. You won't let this Togo - Benin thing go abi. If someone said: "bigfrancis, do you know that all igbos get their kolanuts directly from western Nigeria, Google it, the facts are there". What will you, as an Igbo man who eats kolanuts for food say? Will you need Google. Its not every info Mr Google has to be the arbitar or shining light. |
Culture › Re: Top 10 Most Spoken Nigerian Languages by semitunde: 4:29pm On Feb 12, 2015 |
bigfrancis21: Igbo may not likely make the list in the sense of having a large number of second language speakers to add to its list of native speakers but when it comes to the highest number of native speakers of a Nigerian language, Igbo language might top the list if an official census proves that they have the largest population of all 3 major ethnic groups in Nigeria.
In the last census by Obasanjo, why did he 'smartly' omit 'ethnicity' in the census list but rather substituted it for 'state of residence' knowing full well that there are mass numbers of Igbos residing outside south east in other states of Nigeria, thus swelling the population figures of non-south-eastern states? And at the end of the exercise, population figures were summed up region for region thus placing SW and the North at higher figures, of which about 30% are Igbos? How can you explain that? When Obasanjo was asked why 'ethnicity' was removed, he replied that the population figures would be controversial. Controversial? So he knew very well what he was doing? Even here in US, race is not omitted but included on census forms, to account for the racial make-up of Americans. Now, this is accountability which every country should strive for. When will Nigeria ever conduct things accurately and fairly for once in its existence? Or you think the leaders up there don't know the truth? For the past 40 years the Igbo have been lied to and subjugated to number 3 position in Nigeria, such that many Igbo people even believe that they are number 3. You have brought up issues that are beyond this thread and need to be discussed more expansively. Maybe you can open another thread for that? Its nice that you agree that the Igbo languge is by far not the most widely spoken, we have to be less emotional sometimes. Let's rest that there... I will.make this as short as possible. You have no facts to butress your point that igbos make up 30% of Lagosians. Let's say the Yoruba are 50%, are tiu saying that 20% make up the other ethnic groups? Do you know how many we have in Nigeria? Let's move on... You mentioned that ethnicity was not included in the last census...Its wasn't only ndigbo that was dissapointed, some other groups too, like Yoruba for instance. But the disappointment was more because guys felt that inclusion, (with religion and residence) would show the true nature of the composition in northern Nigeria. Many prominent northerners didn't want that... But let me tell you bro, such an inclusions might not be an advantage for igbos too. Apart from the oppurtunity of debunking the 30% population mantra, Ethnicity, religion and residence; would have shown the number of Igbo in other areas, their location, occupation, etc. These info can be used for taxation by a govt like Lagos. Trust me the Lagos state is working at achieving this through several benign means. Not necessarily because of Igbo only though. In summary, if we have an accurate census where all these indices are used, we would be well on our way to better planing our future, and debunking some funny beliefs along the way. |

Radoillo: This 'mostly Yoruba' thing is extremely funny, especially with reference to Togo where the Yoruba fraction of the population is so small they are almost invisible.
Togolese and Beninois Yoruba altogether are only about 300,000 people.
Do not take my word for it. Look it up. You need to understand that I wasn't referring to spoken language now. And while I don't know where you got those figures from; I can tell you "first hand" that most of the population from Benin and Togo are Yoruba or can speak the language or variants (Egun) of the language. |
