MORNDEW: I broke into tears while reading this. Even those induced with money will change their heart and Vote him. His wordsmith is top shelf! It also embodies who he is. Not some speeches the clueless one will make and you'll find it so detached from his person, that you won't have any problems disbelieving every bit of it. |

Things are moving nicely. Hopefully Buhari wins his primaries making my choice much easier.
Meanwhile INEC sent a text for the collection of my PVC only to get there and be told told to go to the local govt.
I just hope I have the time to start looking for something that doesn't want to be found. Can't we just vote with our temporary cards? |

TV/Movies › Re: 8 Most Controversial Nigerian Films Of All Time by semitunde: 1:29pm On Dec 08, 2014 |
MAYOWAAK: Lovers of Yoruba movies will remember a Mainframe Production titled 'Ti Oluwa ni'le'. In that movie, Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande) had connived with some village chiefs and elders to sell a piece of land which was hitherto marked inhabitable and property of the gods. Baba Wande and his cohorts, out of greed, clandestinely sold said piece of land under the pretext and conviction that land belongs to God (ti Oluwa ni'le). Well, after a while, everyone who was involved in that transaction started dying one after the other. Baba Wande went in search of divination. He was told the deaths were a repercussion of that act and that he was next (he being the only survivor); the only thing that could save him was if the deceased was not buried. By the time Baba Wande left the diviner's, the corpse of his friend was at the cemetary for interment. Baba Wande rushed to the cemetary and from afar started shouting:
"E ogbodo sin 'ku yen ooo..." (You must not inter that corpse ooo" repeatedly. Of course, the disruption he caused meant he was able to get closer and held on to the casket still yelling "e ogbodo sin 'ku yi... A ni e ogbodo sin 'ku yi se!" (You mustn't inter this corpse... I mean it, you mustn't inter this corpse) to the bewilderment of mourners. Movie ended and was supposed to have a sequel. E never comot.
Reading about OBJ's yet-to-be-released book and Buruji Kashamu's frantic effort to get a court injunction to stop its launch, all I can hear is "iwe yen o gbodo jade ooo" (that book must not be released). Problem is, I don't know how he sounds so I hear "ani iwe yen o gbodo jade seee" in Baba Wande's voice.
Hmmmm
Nigeria, one day, one drama; one week, one blockburster. This should be very interesting.
I'm here yelling "iwe yen gbodo jade ooo... Eje ko jade seee!" (That book must come out ooo... You have to let it come out!) Ti Oluwa n'ile had part 1,2 and 3. Mainframe's best work yet. |

delpee: My last experience on the Lag-IB express was traumatic. Won't visit in December cos of the heavy traffic. Have a wonderful time.
Treat Djangos sister jejely if you don't want red eyes o. Especially the Ibadan to lag part of the road, seriously terrible!!! But it can't be an excuse for people like us jare. I usually go to ib on Xmas or new year day. Better for avoiding traffic. I'm sure django1 wont mind. We are preparing something special to to keep him happy. |
Politics › Re: Nigerians Struggling To Register And Collect There Voter's Card by semitunde: 5:12pm On Dec 05, 2014 |
Not gotten mine too.
I got a text from INEC stating the date for collection only to get to be told that they'd already distributed the cards.
I was referred to the local govt, possibly Ikeja local govt since I registered beside the Lagos high court there.
If they are this disorganised maybe we should just be allowed to vote with the temporary cards. |

Phinity318: This is nice but they are only key indices of modernisation coupled with economic growth it is in no way development.
Most of the facilities installed were prolly done by expatriates. until we can have indigenous project embarked by the locals we cannot talk of development but growth Ijare (1992) True that. But its a nationwide problem though. Caused by mostly leadership failure. |

@semitunde Long time! Yeah. Lol, real long time. I mentioned you cos I knew you were also following from the other Ibadan thread that was erased. Spending Xmas in ib? Most likely I will too. Maybe I'll do a detour after saying hi to django1's sis. |

Politics › Re: Politicians With Good Oratorical Skills In Nigeria by semitunde: 5:24pm On Dec 04, 2014 |
OrlandoOwoh: If there is anything that a politician can use to arrest the attention of his intellectual listeners, it is arguably his oratorical prowess. From all parts of the world it is the same. I have had the opportunity of watching clips of campaigns and debates involving some Americans vying for political offices, they often have the oratorical skills.
Here in Nigeria upto the early 1980's, Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, S. L. Akintola, Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Anthony Enahoro, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, and so on were able to convince their admirers with their oratorical skills.
In today's Nigeria, do we still have politicians with oratorical skills? I find Rochas Okorocha, Femi Fani-Kayode, Babatunde Fashola, Tunde Bakare, Peter Odili, Femi Gbajabiamila and Rauf Aregbesola (though very blunt) as some of the few we have. Add yours.
Of what importance is this skill in today's polity? You forgot to add Adelabu of the "penkelemes" fame. He was rumored to be the best at coining new words and getting people to do his will with moving words. Ojukwu was actually a good orator too, even though he had a veritable cause to rally people towards. I think, unlike today, the ability of any leader in Nigeria was first judged by his ability to communicate thoughts effectively and force a conviction by the people to trust him with their votes or lives. Now its all about who can steal more... |

aboki2000: Dude you didn't saw all the prayers of the people or the goodnews of DJ updates to quote , your evil eyes only went to money updates , nawaa ooo for some people sef ...
DJ God Loves You , Iam 1000% sure of that ! Lol. Sometimes we unconsciously forget that those that are in charge of finances are also doing some work, especially when it concerns charitable projects. They are an important part of any good team. Maybe I missed it but I just felt people were interested in the increasing amounts of money ( and rightly so) to actually see the effort put in constantly, honestly accounting for payments made. Everyone involved in this is important, and blessed. |
Education › Re: Who Is The Greatest Among These Two Proffessors Chinua Achebe N Wole Soyinka by semitunde: 4:22am On Dec 04, 2014 |
Read one of Soyinka's books about his childhood, can't remember the title now but u found it really interesting. Its his only book I've read. Flora Nwapa too.
Read Arrow of god and got tired by the third chapter. I found it too...busy. Preferred Cyprian Ekwensi's books.
On sentimental grounds, I prefer Soyinka. Met, did photo ops and had several chats with him while being part of the crew that organised the maiden " Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Journalism". He was really fun to be with. |
