Nonso23: Of course I understand what you are driving at.

You read the grand father paradox
It says something like it is impossible to go back in time and kill your grand father before you were conceived as that will ultimately mean you were never conceived and never went back in time and never killed your grand father. A consistency loop must be fulfilled.
Another is a paradox that asks: if traveling back in time were possible, why don't we have people from the future touring earth now.

Etc etc,
They are all factions of hypotheses though.
Well, I dont know the grandfather paradox you're referring to, but I'm an info guzzler and it took me some years of serious quantum physics info to re shape my mind as regard the space-time continuum.

Books I've read range from scholarly reports, to time magazine write up on Einstein. But I love von daniken's books because its the closest to answering questions for me. Google it and download and read his books with an open mind, it will get you more interested in the past, space and even the Bible from a scientific point of view.

vizboy: I still cant see how you will land on the same spot. Excerpt the train is static.

When you are in moving car and you throw an orange up it won't land in your hands. There is bound to be little diversion

Well I can be wrong maybe theoritically it can be possible, but practically. Don't see it happening
The only reason why the orange won't land in your palm is if you didn't throw it to land in your hand in d first place, or if the place is airy such that the orange is subject to the elements while in the air. If not, the the orange does not even know its in motion, it simply goes up from your hand and comes down directly on your hand.

Just the same way you don't know you're in motion because the earth is protected from the outer space by its atmosphere. So when you jump up, you are actually like orange in a moving train or vehicle, but you don't realise it..

Nonso23: Forth in time? - I agree
Backwards? - Paradoxes galore.
Your explanations are a lot more better and easier to grasp than mine. Kudos
Lol. You are one of those who believe what's done is done. History can't be remade or re-lived.

Well, at the risk of cupping a headache, I think there are possibilities. What are we living in? The present right? How do we know it isn't a controlled remodelled one to suit a people/race/ even individual? How can you be aware? Do you know what your fate is? How do you know someone or something doesn't know your fate? And has control over it. I think one can control the future by going to the past. Out present is a past depending on the way you look at it, whether linearly as in seeing the future because you don't know you're in the past; or by astrology, which can put our position ( our conscious present) any where : past, present or future, depending on what its relative to.

For instance if a space ship is developed that can move faster than light, then 1day on the ship and in relation to earth can be 1000yrs on another planet. It means whatever we on earth know to be happening on that planet as "present" will be the future of those that have gone there, by 1000yrs. For the people on the planet communicating to earth, the space explorers would be part of their 1000yrs history.

Nah, I can't explain more than this if you don't get it, sorry.

5minsmadness: grin grin grin

I didn't understand this one at all embarassed embarassed embarassed

The first explanation was better.

Off topic: Bros, what do you think about time travel? Can it be done?
Lol. His Wa a technical explanation. If you hold an orange in a moving train and throw it up straight from tour hand it should land in you hand.

This is because when you throw the she me orange up in your room, you are doing the sane thing as in a moving train, because the earth is moving in a speed much faster than the fastest train but you can't feel this first because the outer space is mostly vacuum and hence little friction or drag; and also because you have gravity puling things down.

Yes, it is possible to build a time machine. Time is a parameter like distance. Just like you can walk back and for in distance (called space), you can walk back and forth in time- you just need the means to. Maybe some of our ancestors have even managed to do this, they just didn't realise what they had done.

krall: Picture this scenario.

You are on (INSIDE) a large express train racing the tracks at 450km/hr. If you stand facing forward on a marked spot and jump as the train is moving, would you land on exactly the same spot OR would the few seconds you are in the air cause you to land a distance behind the said spot?

** If the latter is correct, then it means you can move to the end of the aisle without walking. All you have to do is jump.

I would have tried it when I had the chance but they don't allow jumping in trains.
You are trying to put Einstein's theory of relativity to test. You will land on the same spot, even though in actual fact you have moved through a curve.

The same thing happens when you jump on a spot in you house. You see the earth is moving at a very high speed around the sun, it is also spinning; but when you jump up you don't necessarily land forward or backwards do you?

In actual fact when you jump in the air, anywhere on earth, you have jumped in a curve. That's also why some people say the shortest distance between two points is not actually a line, but a curve. As it is on earth, so it is on the train.

KnightOfLaif: But seriously... make we no deceive ourselves cos revolution go still happen for this country.it might result into war and it might not.
Revolution I agree. I also feel its what we need in this country. A class revolution. Let it start and see how lots of people ruling and feeding off our resent situation start suing earnestly for Peace.

Watch how a fraction of the amount of the finance needed to complete an electric power revival, becomes suddenly enough.

Watch how, people you looked up to as patriots, as the epitome of bravery, all slink out in the night, headed for Europe and southafrica.

Unfortunately, some of my generation is confused, some think they are elites or have become part of them. We think we are middle class cos we can buy second hand cars, it makes us hope we can someday steal and become rich too, and pay for our own light and security.

Have you seen a rat, running in a cycle wheel, it runs furiously and works really hard, yet ends up in the same spot. That is rat race. Its what we are experiencing.

kendrick93: dis comment is a prime example of wat i wrote.. afraid to do the needful.
thats why we in dis slump
The needful we should be doing is to start thinking! The elite, regardless of tribe, who are ruling us are our problems!

Funny thing is, they won't be here when the war starts. They will be far away in safe countries stoking the hatred from all sides with swift reactions and interviews with the ever more, war and blood mongering, international media.

Guys should tune in to aljazeera now. Its like a war film only its happening as we speak.
Politics › Re: For Those Of Us Seriously Beating The Drum Of War. Is This What We Really Want? by semitunde:
jamace: Peace and war have been in existence from time imo river. Our ancestors fought to safeguard their kingdoms. History is rife with such stories. Therefore, whether we like it or not, nations will continue to experience both internal and external wars from time to time. The life of every nation is just like a man traversing landscapes, it will meet hills and valleys along the way. Hate it or like it, war comes after peace and vice versa. As it was in the beginning so shall it be world without end.

So if Nigeria becomes embroiled in war, it is nothing new, it is only fulfiling lives journey.
If you are observant enough, you'd notice that history is slightly changing in this regard. Maybe its evolution, but these days, wars once started are difficult to stop. In fact I dare say, if a war starts now, it might never end. Unless and until theres nothing to fight for. This can only happen after everything important have been destroyed and what remains on all sides is to rebuild.

The ideology of surrender is slowly being eroded from people nowadays. When as a victor you think you can sleep easy, vanquished victims will wake you up. How many years have the Israelis been fighting their neighbours?

In so far as there is availability of technology, and hatred still lives in some peoples heart, no war is ever over.

Let's start it, I'm sure some of us here won't be alive to tell the story, brave or not. And I don't know what that counts for in the afterlife.

I'm watching aljazeera, I'm thinking as gruesome as the scenes I'm seeing here is, our case will break more records.

kendrick93: if it is by goin to war dat will bring peace and all dis rubbish tribalism against one tribe and also to hav a better lyf then so be it.. i hate cowards who cnt confront issues instead trying to make peace all because of fear..
whether we lyk it or nt everyone goin to die so wats d point of being a coward..i will rather die as a hero fighting dan being a coward
Pls post your picture and your real names here. It should be easy, you have nothing to hide. Above all, you are not a coward. Or am I wrong?

The reason for my request is so ppl can know where to look, for the instigators of the war, and also because anyone who's not afraid of death is dangerous.

I like Kelechi Iheanacho though. I wish him the best in his career. It will be painful to waste so much talent on any bench.

I like Kanu, he's arguably our most intelligent footballer, and I think he's even showing that off the field.

Okocha is the most skilful Nigerian player I know.

Uche was my best friend for a long time growing up. We fought once and stayed away for like 2weeks. life became uninteresting and we decided to get back as friends.

Ik still comes over to our house till tomorrow. Their whole family can speak Yoruba with all the intonation. They look like typical Igbo, but you'd give them a pass anytime they speak.

Kachie would sometimes come over and after a meal would tell us about Biafra, the seriousness and activities to keep the hope alive. We never took him seriously, and we would just smile. I'm sure he knew this but would still keep with his update anyway. He's gone to the east after a disagreement with his bro who housed him. We miss him.

I've had two lawyers, they are both Igbo. One of them has been our neighbour for more than 20yrs.

When Biafra comes to fruition, remember this. I know many have experiences and views as these, on all sides of the tribal divide.

This is a new generation.

We are Jews and Biafra will rise as a powerful, prosperous, and independent nation just like our fellow Jews in Israel!
If the rest of Nigeria tries to attack us, we will lay waste to Abuja and Kano like Israel is doing to Gaza.
The way I see this, Biafra may just be Gaza in the event of a break off from Nigeria. Many things point towards this direction, but go on...

Its called international tribalism. We're getting used to the local version here too. Some are for good reason too, but other are just outright stupidity and shallowness.

You should have noticed that by now. We all have our reservations about others, even those we've never met, some raise those reservations to make themselves feel better.

You make the same mistake most times too

Why were you touring the southwest. Are you not paid to put up pictures of development in Anambra state? What drew you to Ibadan? Love? Hate? Education? Business opportunity? It has to be two or more of the above.

Do you know the feeling you get when a neighbouring country tries desperately to measure up? I sense that feeling everytime you post.

Very funny! So you as the paid govt photographer couldn't find cement and aluminium roofing sheets in the whole of south east to propagate the the false development of business enterprises there and you had to just drive to the one place you are sure you can get such pictures, the southwest.

I'm sorry you couldn't get the pictures you wanted, you asked the wrong people. If you were humble enough to ask the Yoruba there, you would have gone back to Onitsha with enough quantity of whatever you were looking for.
