GTB charged me N303 to a Canadian dollar last month |
People should be very careful with those agents. They should learn from this: Somebody applied for a student visa through an agent at Ojodu Berger (name withheld). The agent packaged all the documents for him without knowing that the same docs given to him was the same given to other applicants that patronized them. Later, the embassy sent a procedural fairness mail to him for misrepresentation. The embassy alleged that he claimed in the form that he did not used an agent but comparing what he submitted with what other applicants submitted were similar and as a result they suspected that he used an agent. The guy responded and after about four months, he got a refusal and unfortunately for him, "inadmissibility" was ticked for him which means BAN. |
G. What can an applicant do if his application is stuck at BGC? If an application is stuck at BGC for a very long time, i.e. more than 3-5 months after your eligibility is cleared you have two options: a) You can inquire about the status of your security check directly from CSIS. To enquire about the status of a an immigration screening file, the following information is required*: a. a full name, b. date and place of birth, c. the signature of the applicant, and d. a return mailing address as replies are not sent by email or fax. e. If you are enquiring on behalf of another person, the request must be accompanied by the Consent Form to Disclose Information to a Designated Individual. f. Mail or fax the request to CSIS at the attention of: Assistant Director, Operations Canadian Security Intelligence Service P.O. Box 9732, Station T Ottawa, ON K1G 4G4 Fax: 613-369-2954 It takes CSIS 8 weeks to process these requests. Information on this is available at https://www.csis.gc.ca/scrtscrnng/index-en.php#bm02 Some applicants have successfully obtained information from CSIS. b) If CSIS has finished the security screening, then your file is pending final review with IRCC. There is nothing much you can do at this stage. However, there is anecdotal evident that ordering GCMS notes does initiate the process. This is because every time you order GCMS notes, an agent will review the notes before releasing them. If the file has been reviewed by the Agent, and is pending posting the update on the system, the same will be done by the agent when he is reviewing the notes and this will move your file ahead. |
I wrote my test on 16th September, 2017 and the result supposed to be available on 29th September, 2017. When I checked my result, what I have been seeing is NO RESULT What could have been responsible for this? |
we work with them and I know quite a number of them here in Lagos that are Canadians but African origin. They were also the beneficiaries of this immigration process in the past but wants to destroy the ladder that they took to Canada. The greatest ordeal I have encountered in my travel history is how I was delayed for three hours at the Atlanta Airport last year by a black immigration officer. Guess what, the man is a Gambian-American IO. |
That visa officer was angry with the quality of SOP written by the applicant. I guess the VO is an African. A VOs don't comment on the quality of our English composition. They know quite well that many Europeans with poorer English composition than ours do perform excellently in their fields. So, looking at the long epistle written by that VO, I am much more convinced that he/she is an African. |
some people are the source of their refusal. it not the number of documents you presented that will give you the visa. the first impression the VO has about your application immediately he/she lays hand on your application will determine the outcome of your application. Don't give or volunteer unnecessary documents in the name of proving your case. In immigration profiling which is the first tool of the visa officers, there is what we call "suspicious signs", one if the signs is the overly cooperated applicants. They are applicants that overzealously present documents not needed. That suspicious impression goes a long way in shaping the decision of the VO. Just presents documents that are relevant and answer the grey areas or possible questions that may arise from your dossier. |
Nairaland guys are doing a fantastic job here. If somebody posits that PGd applicants have a slim chance of TRV, the person might be right in his own opinion based on what he has seen. Also in other perspective, another person will tell you that PGd is the best option based on what he also has seen. I have seen four approvals this year with two PGd, one diploma and one Masters. However, the number of refusals for Masters I have seen are more than the PGds. (Not on nairaland). And we have seen Masters applicants with funding been refused. I discussed with the consular about people changing career or people going for the course not related to the intended study, he said it is at the discretion of the VO. He said that he himself studied Financial Economics and he is doing a consular job. If he will treat an application and see an applicant like this, he won't look at it as unreasonable but others who are not in the same shoe will see it as illogical. It now depends on how you are able to argue your case with the visa officer and make it convincing. He noted one point that if you have a brother in Canada who entered through the student route and when he got to Canada, he did not respect the terms of the visa, he may be a legal resident now but if you make the person your sponsor, the VO will doubt your intention to study. He/She will feel like your brother or sister want you to take the path he took to immigrate to Canada. My point is this, there is no good application and there is no bad application. It all depends on how you package your dossier and how convincing your SOP is. The only bad application I know is the one with forged or not genuine documents and don't ever try it. It ruins career and life. Most importantly PRAYER! It can direct the VO to reason along with you even if you don't make any sense. I pray that we will not receive refusals again on this forum and from now we will be reading the praises of approvals. Amen. |
Nigerians are the most problematic people in the world with the way we abuse things. Before now, Canadian study permit applications were not difficult for Nigerian students even with PGd or ordinary diploma but some unscrupulous Nigerians abused this privilege in the past by absconding when they get to Canada. If this trend is not reversed, Masters applicants may be treated in this way in the future even with funding. I have heard of a Nigerian who used the funding money paid into his account to sponsor his family for SPWP application and now running up and down to look for the school fees when it is time for him to pay. Some abandon their study looking for money. I don't know why a 24 year old student is running up and down looking for money to build house in Nigeria leaving his Masters degree to suffer with the funding he got. This is embarrassing. We had training with some Consulars including some Canadian Consulars. One of them told me that they get information about Nigerian applicants' tricks in study permit applications through the blogs. He mention some including this Nairaland. I was shocked to hear this. I then stylishly asked how he got to know about the Nairaland, he said they got to know when a study permit applicant mentioned Nairaland in his "Statement of Intent" he submitted to the Canadian High Commission. Since then, they have been peeping into what Nigerians post there. Please,I will beg people to stop posting fraud or indicting posts on Nairaland. The VOs are here. Also I beg people in the name of everything you believe in, if you know that you don't have the primary intention of studying, don't apply for the study permit. Better go for Express Entry and that will be better for you. For those considering the option of bringing their family into Canada through the Spousal Work Permit, if you apply for your spouse less than a year you get into Canada, you are endangering the SWP application. This is because you mentioned your family as one of your home tie when you applied. Now the same home tie is what you want to bring in. This gives the VO a doubt about what you initially told them. Mind you, you wife's Spousal Work Permit is a continuation of your initial study permit application. VISA Officer will reason that if you as the Principal applicant does not respect the terms of the visa given to to, how will he/she believe that your spouse will respect the terms of the work permit. This is logical. Mind you, your school gives the CIC the feedback on how you pursue your program in Canada. |
We attended the same school and the same course. He works with NAHCO while I work with an airline. |
Well, the guy graduated with 2:2 in Agriculture. He cannot do direct Masters with 2:2. He then opts for an Advanced Diploma in Agricultural related course which is higher than the BSC but lower than Masters. He works in the airport and he has a good travel history to UK, USA and a tourist visit to Canada in the past and he has not violated any condition of the previous visa. How can he sell this: from Agric undergraduate to Aviation work and now want to go back to Agriculture. |
A friend asked me this question and I feel like throwing it into this forum for analytical advice. He wants to apply for student visa, his tuition fees and his living expenses has been deposited into a domiciliary account in his name. The question now is that HIS SALARY ACCOUNT BALANCE HIS SLIM AND NOT SMILING. Is it compulsory that he include this salary account statement with his application?. |
Canadiannurse can contact me on 08058218992. My off duty days are Thursdays and Fridays. |
We open Air Maroc counter at 2am and close at 5:10am. You can come to the airport at night and sleep over. There are no chairs for you to sleep on o. But if you have your own mat, you can use it to sleep. If you can contact me if I am on duty |
What do they mean by misrepresenration about your past employer? Did you lie to them about your previous job? Please shed more light. I submitted my study permit application on 18th April ,and on 10th May CIC asked me to address a misrepresentation by submitting proof of my past employment, which i sent to them on 11th May.And like someone said,am yet to hear "pim" from CIC since then, lol. But one thing is certain, it shall all end in praise... Try getting busy so as to think less about the "wait" I wish all the TRV hopefuls the best.[/quote] |
If I present a domiciliary account for my TRV application. Hope the embassy won't query it as a lump sum deposit? Since the money will be converted and paid at once |
Nobody is asking for vaccination card at the airport. I work with an airline and I see people with Canadian visa everyday. We never ask them for any vaccination card or yellow fever card. It is only if you are going to the west coast countries or South Africa or Arab countries they will ask for such. FOR CANADA, NO! NO!! |
We should be mindful of the barrage of dossiers we submit for our study permit application. The more documents you submit is the more you give tbe VOs Chance to further scrutinize your application. Just submit only the relevant documents needed to support your claim. Imagine an applicant claiming a strong home tie by submitting land and house documents also ignorantly submitted house rent receipts. If you truly own a house, why the house rent receipts? Look, know matter the volume of docs you submit, the impression the visa officers have about Nigeria is that most of our docunents are fake. The onus is now on you to logically present your case to the VO to convince him/her that you are a bonafide student not an immigrant. Also some people believe that going for Masters or PhD is automatic ticket for their study permit. No, we have seen a refusal on Masters on this forum even with funding. It is not enough for you to go for a Master or PhD degree, you have to convince the VO how your proposed Masters degree will enhance your career, intellectual and entrepreneurial development. Since the VOs are aware about the unemployment situation in Nigeria where first class, Masters and even PhD holders find it difficult to get job, you need to convince the VO how your proposed course will make you a job creator when you return if you don't get the job. Even if you claim that you will return to your present work that have you an introduction letter, you will still need to show the value of the huge money you spend in Canada on your work. For example, Let us look at somebody going for "Boreal Ecosystem and Agricultural Science" at the Memorial University. It will be difficult to sell this course to the VO. Boreal Ecosystem cannot be found in Africa. It is found in subarctic region of the Northern Hemisphere which covers North Atlantic Canada and Europe. So, why do you want to study an ecosystem that is not in your continent? I wish all TRV hopefuls a successful application. Amen |
If I have gotten approval for Canadian visit visa before and I have travelled to Canada and returned without overstay. Will they still do background check in my study permut application? |
I need the opinions of gurus on this forum. I graduated with Second Class Lower in Agriculture. After my NYSC, I got a job in the aviation sector. I have been doing this since 2007. Now I want to go for an Advanced Diploma in Aquaculture in Canada which is a branch of Agriculture. I would have gone for Masters in Aquaculture but my 2:2 is an obstacle. This advanced diploma is equivalent to PGd in Aquaculture because after it, one can go straight for Masters. My concern is hope the VO will not see it as inconsistency in career progression. From Agriculture to Aviation and back to Agriculture |
So if I get it right, Canadian High Commission is now asking all Nigerians seeking study permit to pay tuition fees. Can somebody in this forum confirm that please? |
Don't stress yourself. Go to the Murtala Muhamed Airport at the departure lounge just opposite the Emirate Airlines. Ask for Peacock Travel Agency, they can book an affordable Egypt Air ticket for you. |
Dear Gurus in the house, can someone give a link on how to get a "sponsor"? The person can leave his/her contact so that I can call the person. Thanks |
Has anyone gotten a bank letter and the CBN circular for the new Canadian Study permit requirement for Nigeria. |
I have a Bachelor degree in Agriculture and I got a job in aviation security. I have been doing this job since 2007. If I want to go for an Advance Diploma in Aviation Safety which is related to the job I am doing but not related to my first degree. Hope the Visa Officer will not loot at my application somehow? |
I have no problem with OBJ becoming a columnist but I dont expect him to write on Nigerian papers. If you can remember, this is a man that openly said that he doesn't read Nigerian papers. |
" I had no shoes, I used to go to school with bare footed, I had no uniform, I was once like you, If I can make it, you too can make it, vote for transformation" yes, transformation indeed: prices of food items are skyrocketed, cement is still N1800, kerosene is expensive, our roads are still bad, we are still importing fuel. Now 4years not enough, we need 6yrs. Abati said it is too early to judge mumu GEJ but it was not too early to prepare a bill for tenure extension. I dey laugh ooo, people said is Jonathan they voted for not PDP. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SIX AND HALF A DOZEN? |
Igbo presidency is long overdue but my worry is that Igbos are their own enemies. See how they traded off PDP Chairmanship slot for ego and selfish interest. See how they were removing the Igbo Senate President like changing cloth. I aam not trying to disparage Igbos but I am calling our attention to those bad eggs and selfish Igbo politicians that may work against the actualisation of Igbo presidency. Personally to me, I support Igbo Presidency in 2015. |
NIGERIANS IN UK SHOULD COME HOME TO INSURE THEIR LIFE WITH JASS. AYETA, OKIGBE, ALUWO, ANASARE, GBEKUNMI, ATIDIYO AND AGBETI DEY FOR NAIJA AT A LOW PRICE. |
I have read the opinions of people on the issue of "Islamic Bankink" and I love their contributions. This concept was started by Soludo in which BOFIA decree of 1991 was amended to include islamic banks. The concept is not really islamic bank per se. It is non interest banks based on two principles. 1. Non interest bank bank based on islamic juruspudence. 2. Non interest bank based on other principles. Because of the peculiarity of islamic injuction in doing some businesses, if you are a muslim, you can apply for license under the principle 1. This is because our conventional courts lacks juridiction in entertaining any legal tussle on islamic or sharia matter. But if you are Christian, you can apply for license under the principle 2 in which the guidelines of islamic banking will not be applied to you. The difference in guideline is that there are some businesses islam forbids that are allowed by christianity. If the guideline is general, there is no way the fundamental right of one religion will not be trampled upon. So seperate guidelines have to be given to the two principles and the same thing is being done in UK where they have "Islamic Bank of Britain". BENEFITS If you go to banks for loan to do a business, the high interest rate they will charge you would have taken away substantial part of your profit but if you have a bank that can give you loan without interest, this will encourage small scale businesses and the agricultural sector will be the great beneficiary. We should not look at it from the religious point of view rather than how it will benefit the economy.tter.
