I am concerned about the people that have died. But I know that you Niger Deltans do not value your lives and that is why Niger Deltans can go to a region and set an oil pipeline on fire knowing fully well that other Niger Deltans are going to perish in the explosion. Isn't that really stupid for people who claim that Nigeria is exploiting them? I am not in the habit of feeling sorry for people who don't value their lives. Please, people are dying every day for genuine reasons and not the release of separatist leaders.

In what seems like a replay of the First Republic era of 'wild, wild west', Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, yesterday became a theatre of violence following the decision of the group of 18 legislators, pushing for the impeachment of Governor Rashidi Ladoja, to use the House of Assembly chambers to effect their agenda.

The move sparked off a gun duel, at the end of which two persons were feared dead while six others, including two police officers, a State Security Service (SSS), official attached to the governor, a photo journalist and two civil servants were wounded.

Shell has declared "force majeur", which practically means that they will no longer be exporting any oil and they believe that this situation is outside the control of the Nigerian Government. Out of the normal 2.5 million barrels per day we produce, Shell produces 1 million and if they stop working, our exports will be reduced by 40% straightway. Those of you who have said that you would like the oil to run dry so Nigeria can 'improve' should be happy. This is what you've been waiting for. Now let us sit down and watch as Nigeria slowly disintegrates after losing the oil revenue that we depend upon for 95% of our foreign exchange. Let us watch as the price of the dollar rises because the federal government is unable to get any to auction off to the commercial banks. Let us watch as the price of food, petrol, kerosine rise to the sky because we have to import all of them. It won't be very pretty, and the last place I want to be in a time like this is the Niger Delta region.

Fortunately for me I have absolutely nothing planned for this Christmas, so there's no need to spend any money!

I'm with Afam. One web design firm can charge ten times what another one charges for the same site simply because it is able to make clients more confident that the money and time they are spending on a project would not be wasted.

For some busy people, it is actually cheaper to spend an extra 200,000 naira on a website development project than to work with a cheap web developer who might waste time or make many mistakes that will have to be corrected over several weeks. Time is money, and some people value their time much more than money.

These people are not my leaders. As a yoruba youth, my decision to vote does not depend on what some corrupt "South Leaders" are threatening. Just because they are Yoruba and I am Yoruba doesn't mean they can make a decision for me on whether I want to vote or not.

Why can't these so-called leaders ask us what we want want before going out to make decisions for us?

mohammed, can you give us one good reason why Nigerian websites should be hosted in Nigeria rather than in the US which is where the Internet originated, bandwidth is extremely cheap, electricity supply is constant and companies can afford to have redundant Internet links, power supply and servers?
