Am I allowed to pick someone under 18? (I'm 23) |
Where did he get the Diploma? |
I read this story about a man who was courting a young Nigerian woman. So one day his father called him and he said "I have found the woman I want you to marry". Turns out it was the same girl he was courting, so he said, "well Daddy, you know what? I guess I have to respect your decision!" So they got married and the father was so happy about his son's "obedience". They didn't tell anyone the true story about how they met until after the old man had passed on! So, if my parents choose a girl for me, I'll date her. I am very lazy when it comes to dating, so if my parents wish to bring a girl to me on a platter of gold, that will be very lovely. If I don't like her, I'll return her to my parents and tell them to go and look for another one. This is called dating without stress. However, by now my parents know better than to expect me to marry a girl I don't like just because they say so. It just can't happen. |
Any pre-marital relationship, no matter how long it lasts, is not the same thing as marriage. The only offence that the girl in the story committed is the deception. She had every right to marry someone else, but they should have been upfront about it. Your friend should thank his stars that he did not end up with a liar for a wife. |
demmy, that is a very ridiculous and unfair statement. Did you even bother to read what they said about their host being down? We are supposed to be nice people on Nairaland, not cyber-terrorists using careless words to destroy hardworking people. ![]() |
Let's wait until she is 18 and then we can do a proper evaluation ![]() Just kidding. The baby is cute, of course. All babies are cute! |
Congrats, dagaro. Can you give us the name of the MTN Promo related to the prize you won? |

Make sure I am one of them! |
I still don't know what Shiloh is. ![]() |
lauryn and scorpio: obviously you are the ones most qualified to answer the question, since you live in Canada. |
The Year 2005 is the year in which I started the Nairaland Forum which, thanks to the efforts of the numerous members, has been a phenomenal success in all respects (member count, daily traffic, user satisfaction, even in advertising). And thanks to a sudden jump in traffic at the end of October, we managed to exceed all expectations for this year. In addition to that, I got a really good friend who exceeded all my expectations and left a permanent positive mark that can never be arased. What makes me even happier about 2005 is that I even got victory over the 'fire' that made me write 'Man Under Fire', so I have to say 2005 has been really, really good to me! |

All you have to do is keep pushing them away and by the time you are 30 you will discover that nobody will want to marry you! Hopefully this will make you really happy! I have never heard a man complaining that too many girls want to marry him. |
He says women are supposed to support/assist men. That they shouldn't be 'on top', but they should be assist those on top. Like secretaries of large corporations who know everything about the company but are merely assistants to the CEO. |

K2DaC, you've got to give me her phone number! And I hope this is true, because if it's not true, I'm gonna have to whack your head with a newspaper! |
A young man needs his girls, and I happen to live in the middle of no-where surrounded by less educated people. |
It is not the government's job to create employment. If no jobs are available, it is the responsibility of individuals to create jobs for themselves by gathering capital and starting their own businesses. Every thing that doesn't work in this country (NEPA) can be an opportunity for someone who is smart to make money (generator sales and leasing). The government is there to guarantee security, enforce laws and nothing more. Job creation is a private sector initiative. |
Nobody thinks about the gender. People - both men and women - just assume by default that the leaders should be men and so it is. It is not as if there has been a woman who came out and said "I want to be Governor/President" and people said "oh no, we won't vote for you because you're a woman". But we have women in the national assembly, because for some reason women decided to contest for those positions. |
Whether or not she did what you think she did, you seem to have little respect for her at this point and even before this point, so the relationship is doomed regardless of what you do about this particular incident. The relationship between the two of you just won't work, and that's all there is to it. |
You're welcome, sir. it seems that this bit of information is not well known. How do I explain it to ppl? ![]() |
Here's what I got after a whole hour of painstakingly filling a dating profile on eharmony.com: https://www.nairaland.com/img/eharmony.png Grr. ![]() Anyway, have you tried that site out? Did you get matched with anybody? |
Swish, are you indirectly calling for the resignation of women like Liberia's Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and our Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iyeala, the woman who brought us debt relief? |
c0dec: so what did mr. obaro say?He said that there's it takes much more than just zeal and intelligence to succeed, so I should go back to OAU-Ife, then come to Systemspecs for internship and Youth service to learn how it's really done. (he was right, but fortunately I'm now in the less challenging field of webmastering where my background as a software developer happens to be useful) |
Going through a 5 page registration is much easier than working for the prize money! |
