Hello Jeeday, Welcome to Nairaland! We look forward to your contributions on the forum. One thing I like about Nairaland is that I get to discuss serious (and sometimes not-so-serious) issues with people who are not too different from me. I get to learn from them, laugh with them, share my life with them, etc. I get to keep a journal in which I can rant as much as I want, and people can read about what's going on in my life without having to go to a separate website. ![]() - Seun |
Economic Reason for the Iraqi Invasion ( from http://zmagsite.zmag.org/Feb2004/sharma0204.html ): --------- (1) Safeguard the U.S. economy by re-denominating Iraqi oil in U.S. dollars, instead of the euro, to try to lock the world back into dollar oil trading so the U.S. would remain the dominant world power—militarily and economically. (2) Send a clear message to other oil producers as to what will happen to them if they abandon the dollar matrix. (3) Place the second largest oil reserve under direct U.S. control. (4) Create a subject state where the U.S. can maintain a huge force to dominate the Middle East and its oil. (5) Create a severe setback to the European Union and its euro, the only trading block and currency strong enough to attack U.S. dominance of the world through trade. (6) Free its forces (ultimately) so that it can begin operations against those countries that are trying to disengage themselves from U.S. dollar imperialism—such as Venezuela, where the U.S. has supported the attempted overthrow of a democratic government by a junta more friendly to U.S. business/oil interests. --------- I'm sorry I'm being so obsessed with this topic! |
In Round 2, It’s the Dollar vs. Euro "In fact, the dispute isn’t about WMDs at all. It’s about something else entirely: who gets to sell—and buy—Iraqi oil, and what form of currency will be used to denominate the value of the sales." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3068336/site/newsweek/ For comprehensive coverage of this issue, use Google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=allintitle%3Adollar+euro+iraq |
I have used worse words than that on him!A man can't love a woman who has insulted his pride with words like "sisi". Get over him, he's not going to want to marry you. GO and find another boyfriend. |
But not before a fair trial in which is has been proved beyond reasonable doubts that the offence was committed. Life imprisonment is better, except when the person is really an animal. For example, serial killers. One thing about me is that I might call for "death penalty" in response to a gruesome act of murder, but if you put me in a jury and ask me to vote, I will always vote for life rather than death. I'm pro life, I really don't believe in killing people in law, war, mobs, or private life. Life is irreplaceable and once it's gone it's gone. Let's treat it reverently. |
nferyn: You're right. I apologize. |
If I had a pepper spray for defense, I wouldn't keep in my bag: - How does that help me if a thief snatches my handbag first? - Will an assailant wait for me to take the pepper spray out of my handbag? About the gun issue: There was a young Nigerian woman in Canada who kept a gun for "protection", and then one day she shot and killed her boyfriend and was charged and convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. A gun is not for defence; it's for killing. And when your killing is not justifiable, you end up in jail. pepper sprays are better. |
It's about to rain. I love the rain! |
Her assistants can continue her projects. Every public officer has an assistant. And yes, I think it's too early to be asking this question. |
According to a Thisday Newspaper Report, the information in my last post is wrong: '[i]As a result of complications resulting from the surgery the First Lady had a “massive asthma attack and fell into a coma" from which she did not recover.' I guess I misinterpreted the statement "she did not wake up" from my source. I don't really know what to say about this except that I am shocked. "Shocked" is the only word that comes to my mind. Shocked, shocked, shocked. I would never expect such a thing to happen. But I know that the Mr. President is going to recover from this. Does anyone know the name of her child? |
Did you remove the picture? |
I don't see you, queen2. All I see is a pretty shadow! |
Do I disagree with myself? No Yes No!! ![]() Look, I don't have time to argue with me today, ... --- The Nairalanders I'd want to meet? Everyone. Why? So I can collect your registration fees and smile to the bank. ![]() |
IAH: I can change your username and post polls for you. Greatpeter, your thread was moved to the recycle bin because it wasn't well developed. |
It would have been funny if I had not seen the explanation before the joke itself! |
It is in the best interest of this country for you to stay where you are, work, and send money home from time to time. It's not in your best interest, either, because this country still has some growing up to do. Take the white man's money and send it to Nigeria. Then when you reach the apex of your career and you have a lot of money in savings, come back to Nigeria, start a business, and provide jobs for a lot of Nigerians. I think it's unfair that after studying abroad you want to come back here to displace our local graduates (who did not have the opportunity of travelling abroad) from the few well-paying jobs that are available to them. Stay over there, earn a lot of white man's money, and bring that money home and use it to create jobs for fellow Nigerians. Be a job-creator and not a job-taker! |
None of that matters. All that matters is that people think there's a beauty contest and they are having fun! |
sweetnini, I wish food into your stomach! |
I'm interested! Add me to your list. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to make my opinion count! ![]() |
Two thoughts: - Layi has said that he does some 3d modelling - Why don't you offer some money for this help you're asking for? |
Actually, there are blind people who surf the internet using screen readers. If the Nairaland website is properly constructed, they would be able to participate with minimal problems. |
Hmmm .... unfortunately, nobody is unaware of their loved ones' location at this point. ![]() |
I know that some people will like to say that God was punishing Nigeria because of 11 year old Samuel. Anyway, for those of you who want to know what went wrong during the operation, I have a more reliable source that says that she just didn't wake up at the end of the operation when the anaesthetic was supposed to wear off. "She didn't wake up" is the exact phrase that was used (coming from a doctor's mouth). So it has nothing to do with bleaching of her skin at all, ok? They gave her drugs to mak her sleep for the operation, and after the operation they couldn't wake her up. That's all. |
THis is the point where I mention that we attended the same school! ![]() |
You really do need to decide on a topic for this thread! I don't know where to start because your discussion is all over the place! |
I don't believe in physical or verbal abuse. I can verbally abuse an enemy but not a friend and certainly not my wife. Ok, back to the topic. |
I feel that what the woman wants is not important. If the woman says she doesn't want you to call, well that's bullshit because she's just trying to get away with the bad things she has done. Sade, you're a gentle soul and this is nice, but if you need to use a tough hand to get what's best for this girl, then do it. I sense that at this point you are eager to wash your hand from this case and forget about it. However, my belief is that what is worth doing is what doing thoroughly so your efforts will not be wasted in the end. Cheers! |
False reports. |
HIV/AIDS is what's special about blood. |
There's no such thing as not getting another chance. As long as you are alive, you'll get another chance. Most businessmen have failed at one venture or the other and what they do is that they learn from each failed venture. Failure is part of success. Until you die, you can try again and again and again until you succeed. One trick is that, you create your venture in such a way that out of your 5 million, if things don't work out, you will be able to recover maybe 2.5 million at the end of the day and use it for something. The other trick is to start by talking to your customers and understanding them very well. If you really sit down to understand your customers and give them what they really need/want, then your business is unlikely to fail. I believe that insurance is for things that are outside your control, like theft, fire, sickness, disability, etc. It doesn't even usually cover "acts of God". |
