Though I'm finding it a bit difficult to understand Nigeria's role in this (we don't manufacture mobile phones!) I understand that, as a member of this community, you have the right to post about any issue that affects you. I hope you found Layi's advice useful!
BusinessRe: Are the Asian Tigers in Nigeria to Invest or to Invade? by Seun(mod): 2:34pm On Oct 18, 2005
I love that perspective, because in this case it suits us: the government is always in control, because they have the military to enforce the wishes of the people. Foreign investors are welcome as long as they plan to spend and re-invest their wealth within the country. If they are here to effectively take capital out of the country, then that would be a problem.

Hello chimummy,

Welcome to Nairaland! Please go ahead and post your picture because this place can be as interesting as you want it to be. Nairaland is a function of the input of each member so the more we put into it the more we gain. This is a heavenly equation!

The faces on the note are Alhaji Aliyu Mai - Bornu and Dr Clement Isong. Note: Clement Isong seems to be an Ibo name, so there's no "marginalization" here. See http://www.cenbank.org/currencymgt/N1000.asp

How to Identify a Genuine 1000 Naira Banknote
[li]The raised print (thick ink texture) can be felt on the numeral 1000, the letters, the portraits and the building.[/li]
[li]THe security thread is the metallic stripe on the back of the note. When tilted, the color changes with the letters CBN visible. Held under the light, the stripe will appear as a continuous dark line with the letters CBN more visible. [/li]
[li]There is a subtle shiny stripe running down the back of the note. It is a shimmery gold color showing '1000 NAIRA'. [/li]
[li]The watermark is in the pinkish area in the front of the note. Held against the light, the portraits, the letters CBN and the numeral 1000 can be seen in the watermark. [/li]
[li]The triangular shape in the middle of the front of the note changes its colour from green to blue when tilted. [/li]
[li]The gold foil (kinegram) on the front of the note, with the Nigerian Coat of Arms and numerals 1000, changes color when tilted under sunlight [/li]
[li]The title CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA on the top left corner of the front is underlined by two tiny lines. Under a magnifying lens, the uppeer tiny line reads CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA continuously [/li]
[li]WIth the naked eyes, the serial number on each note is black, but under ultraviolet light the number turns green. [/li]

Christianity EtcRe: If Your Mum Is Practising Witchcraft On You by Seun(mod): 12:20pm On Oct 17, 2005
You know what I think? There are some people who enjoy starting and spreading rumors about "true life supernatural encounters". And it is because of the activities of those people that all of us are so sure that witches are real. Haven't you had a classmate that was an exert storyteller, who would gather his friends round and tell them amazing stories that are all fabricated?

When I was in JSS2, one of my classmates told a story about how his brother dodged an armed robber's bullet when he called out "brother, there is a bullet coming at you!" And I actually believed him! That is the same way rumors about the supernatural activities of witches and wizards are disseminated.

In terms of the primary purpose of a company, which is to make money for its shareholders, MTN Nigeria is an enormous success. However, they have acquired a bad reputation due to their tendency to charge as much as possible and their customer service which is dissapointing for a company that tries so hard to appeal to our hearts and minds through adverts.

If MTN cares so much about their perception shouldn't they rather train their customer support employees to be more courteous and helpful, instead of merely spending all that money to create ads? Wouldn't that be a more effective way to win our hearts?

You need the wap 2.0 version to be able to sign in. To force your phone to use the WAP 2.0 version, visit wap2.nairaland.com. The wap 1.2 version can be accessed through wap.nairaland.com, but it doesn't support signing in.

Once you've opened the WAP 2.0 version of the site, you can scroll to the bottom of the home page to sign in using your normal username and password.

Remember, if you can't follow our official instructions, don't expect our official support when it doesn't work properly!

Why would he lie about not getting a Visa? Come on people, be reasonable.

Every young Nigerian would love to go to the US and if they can't go the reason is that the people at the US embassy feel that, being a young man with "no strong ties to Nigeria" he might decide to disappear when he gets there. So in their wisdom they denied him a visa.

The same thing has happened to Suny Neji and RuggedMan in the past Sunny Neji, Ruggedman denied British visa.

Two popular artistes billed to take part in an annual concert - Intro Jam - in London, were refused visa to do so recently.

Sunny Neji and Ruggedman were not only refused visa but were insulted in the bargain. Nigerians would tell you the two men are currently the rave in town. In turning them down, the High Commission said they were unpopular and not credible. The insult: it was feared the musicians might not return to the country at the end of the concert.
Nairaland GeneralWe Do Not Condone Violence In Any Form by Seun(mod): 3:07pm On Oct 16, 2005
Hello,

One of the members of this forum posted recently about how he decided to beat his 19 year old sister because of a domestic quarrel (he's 22). I thought it was appalling that after doing that he had the audacity to come here to boast about it.

And there have been similar annoyances along this line:
- People who believe that it's sometimes ok to beat their wives and girlfriends if she has done "something bad".
- People who come here to tell us that "rape is a call of nature".
- People who defend female genital mutilation ("curcumcision"wink.

As the administrator, I did not start this forum as an avenue for violent people to boast about their deeds and convince others to join them in there evil ways. I do not believe in violence in any form, and I do not want people to learn violent ways through this forum.

This type of thing would therefore no longer be tolerated. Please, let us not use the forum to promote the use of violence against those who happen to be too weak to fight back. We tolerate all varieties of viewpoints on issues, but views promoting violence will no longer tolerated, because this is a serious societal problem that we must not add to!

I am happy to know that 99% of the people on this forum are not violent people, and I would like the remaining 1% of us to repent!

Thank you.
