Entrepreneurship is all about taking calculated risks, and reaping great rewards if you succeed. I don't see why you would want an insurance company to take your money to "insure" against your own failure. The best insurance, I believe, is proper market research. |
I watched it on TV just now. You're right, it seems nobody survived. From the wreckage, you could not |
We all, as Greatpeter said, let's prepare to meet our Lord.I have a better idea: let us learn from our mistakes and be careful so that fewer lives will be lost in the same way in the future. That is better than doing nothing and calling on God to take us home. |

The original poster did not mean to say that 50 men and women were begging for the boy. He meant to say that out of the 50 men in the area, none of them chose to beg for him and even the women disowned him (instead of begging for him). Unles I'm getting this all wrong, nobody begged for the boy, because no-one wanted to be associated with him. |
This sort of thing has been happening to young men between the ages 18-30 for a long time. They would be accused of stealing and then lynched on the spot. If we had stopped it when it was happening to other young men, it would not have happened to a child. Stealing is not a crime that justifies killing and even a convicted murderer has rights. |
The people involved are not to be feared because they are common people, not highly placed. There are a lot of people in Lagos that have gotten a similar treatment. The only thing that's different about this one is that: - It was a young child. - The event was captured on tape and shown on TV. Under normal circumstances, I don't believe in the death penalty. However, if you can raise up your hands to beat and kill an 11 year old child, then you deserve to be punished to the full extent of the law. The people that brought the fuel and the person that set him ablaze should suffer the maximum penalty for murder (in Nigeria, this is capital punishment). Those that raised their hands to beat up the child should be charged for battery and assault and maybe manslaughter. Those who were around and were watching instead of reporting to the police should be charged for negligence (yes, this includes the journalist that shot the video). This sort of thing happens very often in Lagos, but most of the time it's a 20-30 year old male and it gets no press coverage. |
We got a report that recently, an 11 year old boy was publicly set ablaze in Lagos, and the event shown on TV. Let's call on the Government to arrest the perpatrators, prosecute them, and charge them to court for first degree murder. All of them should be sentenced to death for this barbaric act. Let's honor the memory of young Samuel by punishing his killers. Afterall, it was captured on tape. |
To contact Wale Adenuga Productions, just wait for the credits at the end of an episode of Papa Ajasco (the comedy) and you should get their address and phone numbers. |
OPEC's oil prices are quoted in dollars, so to buy oil from an OPEC member country, you'll need to convert your Euros to dollars first. There appears to be such an agreement between OPEC and the US. See http://www.opec.org/home/
[li]Since worldwide oil sales are denominated in U.S. dollars, changes in the value of the dollar against other world currencies affect OPEC's decisions on how much oil to produce. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OPEC[/li]
I've recently discovered another article on this same topic: Petrodollar or Petroeuro? A new source of global conflict.
[li]"No observer of the lead-up to the war in Iraq and its aftermath could have failed to notice that the level of cooperation between Europe and America was extremely low. France and Germany were very strong opponents of the US/UK invasion and even after the war was declared over, disagreements persisted over the lifting of sanctions and how Iraq should be run. So was this just a one-off tiff or was it a symptom of deeper flaws in the relationship? I believe that the war on Iraq illustrated for the first time that continental Europe, led by France and Germany, no longer wishes to follow the Americans politically, although what has been termed a 'clash of civilisations'1 is probably better viewed as a 'clash of economies'."[/li]
|

Pick nike4luv. That's the advice I have .Why should someone want to be your friend? What's in it for such a person? You should make this clear, else guys will want to take the opportunity to "befriend" you for favors you don't plan to bestow! |
I was one of the people who the American war against Iraq, especially in light of the absence of any weapons of mass destruction in the country. This caused me to disrespect George Bush because, the decision his administration chose to go into what seemed to be an unecessary war. However, I think I have discovered what seems to be a more genuine reason for the US invasion of Iraq: they do not want OPEC to switch from the dollar to the Euro. ThirdWorldTraveler: Oil can be bought from OPEC only if you have dollars. Non-oil producing countries, such as most underdeveloped countries and Japan, first have to sell their goods to earn dollars with which they can purchase oil. If they cannot earn enough dollars, then they have to borrow dollars from the WB/IMF, which have to be paid back, with interest, in dollars. This creates a great demand for dollars outside the U.S. FeastaThe dollar is the de facto world reserve currency: the US currency accounts for approximately two thirds of all official exchange reserves. More than four-fifths of all foreign exchange transactions and half of all world exports are denominated in dollars. In addition, all IMF loans are denominated in dollars. So the US creates the dollar out of thin air, while other countries (including Nigeria) have to obtain and hold increasing quantities of the dollar by exporting their goods and services to the US. Through this mechanism, the US government has been able to finance many projects by creating more dollars without causing any inflation, which is what would have happened in other countries. As long as the dollar remains in this position, the US will continue to dominate the world economically. So, the dollar is to the US what oil is to Nigeria - their main export product! If an organization like OPEC, which currently sells oil only in dollars, switches to the Euro, then countries that depend on oil will start converting their dollars into Euros causing a sharp decline in the value of the dollar. This would cause a major disturbance of the US economy. Iraq, under Saddam Hussein, became the first and the only OPEC country to have dared to switch to selling their oil in Euros. Due to this, other countries like Iran and Venezuela (George Bush's "axis of evil!" and now Russia, have started considering such a move. George Bush, thanks so his advisors, knows how much havoc such a move will wreck on the US economy if copied by other countries. Hence, the US invasion of Iraq. Now that the US has invaded Iraq: - The new administration has returned to the policy of selling oil for dollars, not Euros. - Iran and Venezuela will be wary of possible US military action if they attempt the same move! Now I understand why George Bush insisted on "liberating" the Iraqis from Saddam, leaving the millions of Africans suffering under harsh dictators, famine, and genocide to fend for themselves. That is why they are happy to keep their forces in Iraq despite the daily death toll on American lives (you know how Americans normally value the lives of their people!) Sources: Cóilín Nunan: Oil, Currency and the War on Iraq (please read this before you reply) It's not about oil or Iraq. It's about the US and Europe going head-to-head on world economic dominance. Why African Americans Should Oppose The War - By Dr. Sonja Ebron You know what? If I was in the US President's shoes, and I was committed to advancing the interests of the United States, I think I may have felt compelled take the same decision. What's your opinion? |
delarontus, the 1000 naira note will cost the CBN about the same as the 5 naira note: 7 naira! Isn't this cool? |
These people are also known as players! The reason they are so successful is because they are good at giving members of the opposite sex what they want! The male players (men who hit and run?) know how to give women the unrealistic romance they are looking for, while the female players (women who eat and run?) know how to give men what they want: a beautiful body to sleep with or fantasize about. It's a question of demand and supply! |
Tamia, we're not hating you. We're jealous of you!! |
That's exactly why I don't like beauty contests - it increases the tendency to judge women mostly on their looks. For example, you haven't met Tamia, you don't know if she's nice or not, but you see the face and you think "I want to meet this person". That's what I hate about beauty contests. |
So now you're trusting this same woman to take her to Nigeria and put her in the right place? Are you serious? What if the woman brings her to Nigeria and just abandons her here? I don't understand what you're saying at all! |
It is possible that those who confess to have been witches or wizards in the past are: - Deluded (psychological imbalance causing them to believe that they are what they are not!) - Trying to make money (by writing and selling boks about their experiences) - Under some form of hypnosis (hypnosis has been demonstrated to work on TV shows) |
Is this related to horoscopes? anyway, one thing I noticed is that the list for each month is designed to fit most people. For excample, there is an entry that says "angry when provoked". Is there anyone who is not angry when provoked? |
The idea that, "when love finishes you can do nothing to bring back things as they used to be" is a very false assumption, and it lead to the unecessary end of a marriage. Love towards your partner is a temporal state/feeling, and it's affected by a love of factors including your behaviour towards each other. It's easy to love someone who treats you well. There is this story about a man who no longer loved his wife and suspected that she was in love with someone else, so he went to his village to ask the elders how to get rid of her. The elders adviced him to treat her like a queen for 6 months, and after that you can tell her to leave your house. The man agreed with this idea, thinking it will be a nice way to increase the pain of the separation for his wife. So after 6 months he returned to the village, and he told the elders that he had done all they said he should do. He noted that his wife's attitude had changed towards him, she had stopped looking for other men, always greeted him with a broad smile, and so on. The elders said, "very good. now is a good time to tell her to leave!" The man replied, "um, I think my love for her has now returned." The elders smiled knowlingly, because they understood the origin of the emotion called love. It's very easy to love someone who treats you well. It's very easy to love someone who loves you - because you treat him/her well. So if love has dissapeared from a marriage, with a little counseling I think it can return, but only if you give it a chance to return. Divorce or separation isn't the answer at all. |
I'm thinking, "why are this people saying Nigeria needs help" and "hello Gina!" |
conception |
Women are more bothered by the idea that their man is "truly in love" with the other woman - the emotional connection. That's why some cheating men have been able to get forgiveness by claiming "she means nothing to me, it's you I really want". Men are more concerned about the actual sex. They only care about the emotional aspect because they know that, generally, when a man enters a woman's head, it's easy for him to enter her ---ts too! As for the idea that a woman who is dating should not fall ("trip" for anyone else, I think that's very wrong. if you want her all to yourself, marry her. A relationship that has not led to marriage can be broken anytime if a more suitable partner is found. |
