RomanceRe: Ladies: Would You Marry a Younger Man? by Seun(mod): 4:54pm On May 16, 2005
I disagree. Relationship-wise, a 20 year old lady is more mature than a 20 year old boy. But that is simply because ladies spend all their time thinking about Relationships!

I have met many men my age or younger who have "mentality and visions or expectations" far beyond mine, but it's hard to say I have met more than 3 women my age or younger who have "mentality and visions or expectations" equal to or above mine. That is why most of my female friends are older than me. All of them.

Relationship-wise, women are more mature. But this is because they spend all their time thinking about relationships (and housework tongue).

TV/MoviesYour Favorite Nigerian Movies? by Seun(mod): 4:06pm On May 16, 2005
Hello,

I have a confession to make: I don't watch Nigerian movies, and I hardly enjoy the ones I watch. I mean, I wish the stories were not so unrealistic!

Do you watch Nigerian movies? Do you think you can give me a good reason to fall in love with Nigerian movies Can you tell us which Nigerian movies you like best?

TV/MoviesRe: Will Nigerian Films Ever Be Shown In Cinemas Outside Africa? by Seun(mod): 3:59pm On May 16, 2005
Allenpowered, you're right. We could earn a lot of foreign exchange by exporting movies to the western world.

I think we do so already - there are a lot of places where you can buy Nigerian movies online. I wonder if the Nigerians responsible for those movies are adequately compensated, though.

Sounds like the case of an african father "losing control" of his first born, and not being happy about it. ALl of a sudden your little baby is all grown up and wants to live life in his own way, but being an African father you're going to tighten your grip on him until he finally rebels spectacularly and breaks free!

I want to read it already!

I know why! You just don't have a budget for your phone of choice wink.

Same with me: I use a Samsung R220, but the next phone I'm getting would probably be a Nokia smartphone. I'm not going to spend one kobo on phones until I can get what I really want!

'Robert Nesta Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981) better known as Bob Marley, was a Jamaican singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was one of the widest known reggae musicians of all time, famous for popularising the genre outside of Jamaica. Much of his work deals with the struggles of the impoverished and/or powerless. He has been called the Charles Wesley of the Rastafarian faith for the way in which he spread Rastafarianism through his music.

PoliticsRe: 1,000 Naira Note: Will there be inflation? by Seun(mod): 1:51pm On May 12, 2005
I hate to bring this debate to an end, but the introduction of the 1,000 naira note simply has no effect on inflation. The fact that we have 500 naira notes hasn't caused the price of pure water to move beyond 5 naira!
[li]To pay someone's salary or buy a car, you use the higher denominations.[/li]
[li]When you want to buy pure water or biscuits, you use the 5 naira note.[/li]
Really, It's that simple!

The 200 and 500 naira notes did not cause any more inflation. Why should the 1000 naira note be any different?

Music/RadioSASHA - Yetunde Omotanwa Alaba by Seun(mod): 6:51pm On May 11, 2005
Laide O. talks about 'Sasha', one of the most popular music artistes in Nigeria today (she raps):
https://www.nairaland.com/img/sasha.jpg
Sasha, real name Antonia Yetunde Alabi, the last of eight children, blows out candles on the 21st of May, can be truly called Nigeria's queen of Hip-Hop.

Sasha, rocking a 1.75 meters tall frame, brown hair and eyes is currently a Law student at the University of Lagos, Akoka (Unilag). An alumni of the famous International School, Ibadan, she shot into the limelight in 2001, at Unilag's 'Girls Nite Out' annual talent hunt. She emerged the first runner-up and the next day went on to perform at the Lagos Lekki beach with other contestants. It was not until months later when she met Eldee of Trybesmen, that she really got her launching pad, and has not looked back since then.

Aside from being a rapper, most would be surprised to know that Sasha is also a designer. Her mother owned a fashion outfit while growing up so her eye for fashion began at an early stage. She started designing for friends which led up to her own line 'Eclectic' and she now claims a clientele that is spread across a number of universities.

Thrilling Nigerians, with a different kind of flava, her stage-craft has the air of the work of a professional. From the costumes to the choreography, 21-year old Sasha gets credit for doing a splendid job. With a hectic schedule that is definitely stressful for professional musicians, it is a wonder how she also copes with being a Law student as well. To deal with this, she tries not to let her music career interfere with her studies.

Sasha's first big shows, were the MTN Yhello Live, and the Yhellofest in Enugu. With a recommendation for the KORA awards in place, she performed in the West African regional in Ghana. There she had to deal with very stiff opposition from representatives of other countries. She eventually received a KORA awards nomination for 'Most Promising Female Act in Africa'.

Sasha's Lyrics are not the run-of-the-mill ones, as she's got songs about love, prostitution, AIDS, and a lot of other insightful topics. She also infuses some Yoruba and pidgin which give her songs a unique Naija feel to it. 2003 was definitely a wonderful year for her, especially since the release of her single "Emi le Gan" in October 2003 which has been aired on Ben Tv in London.

Sasha's debut album "Finally Here" is due out this year and is definitely expected by fans and the media alike with a promise of something even more refreshing than her previous album. She has been described as one of the pioneers of Female Hip Hop in Nigeria and she is unquestionably one of the most promising Naija stars to look out for in 2005.

So, how many Sasha fans do we have on the forum?

Hello,

My name is Oluwaseun Osewa (aka Seun Osewa). I attended International Secondary School, Ifako between 1991 and 1994 and I had a classmate then called Olawale Olaleye (Wale Olaleye). We were separated when I was transferred to Home Science Association Secondary School, though I saw him briefly 2 years later when we were at his school for a quiz competition.

If you are in contact with any Wale Olaleye, please let me know!

Please feel free to post your request on this board, making sure you include:
[li]The name of your old friend (in both short and long form).[/li][li]When and where you met and lost contact[/li][li]Your name, so your friend can find you if he/she is searching for you.[/li]
When you do that, your request will be indexed on the search engines and when your old friend or someone who knows him/her is searching for the name on the Internet, they will find this page and contact you!

Good luck,

MTN Nigeria does not have 10 million subscribers, so it is either:
[li]For some reason, they have decided not to use all the numbers in the 0803 range, or[/li][li]They have a special plan for the 0806 prefix and are going to be providing phone lines having both prefixes[/li]
We will definitely be hearing more from MTN in the next few weeks.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Systematic Posting of new Topics Based on Events by Seun(mod): 12:05pm On May 11, 2005
Based on Solo2's Suggestion, we can also observe:
'June 12' - Anniversary of the 1993 election annulment
'Democracy Day', May 29 - anniversary of the swearing in of the current president.

We can observe all widely accepted "days" even if they are not recognized as public holidays.
AutosRe: 4,000 naira fine for use of cellphone while driving as from 1st of July (FRSC) by Seun(mod): 11:47am On May 11, 2005
The problem with not being able to do anything apart from driving on Lagos roads, in particular, is that we spend so much time in traffic!

I am looking to the Internet as what we need to bring us into the information age. If the cost of Fixed Wireless Internet access drops to about 5,000, then it will be possible for more information workers to start working from home. We will also have Universities where full-time students spend 80% or more of their time studying from home (the remaining 20% is spent on school premises for practicals and examinations).

Telecommuting can help us save lives and without harming efficiency. People often take or make calls, read newspapers and eat in traffic because they are trying to make better use of the hours they spend dailyon Lagos roads! (this applies to roads in other Nigerian cities ...)

My fellow Nigerian men,

I am sorry to inform you that, even though many of us (excepting me) would [date or even marry an older girl, most Nigerian girls are not ready to marry or even date guys that are younger than them! (at least, the girls on this forum).

Sorry boys, but it takes two to tango! grin
WebmastersRe: Has The Nigerian Web Community Come Of Age Yet? by Seun(mod): 8:44am On May 11, 2005
AYA: do we need millions of naira to be injected into training Web developers ...
When I was first 'unleashed' on the Internet, I knew absolutely nothing about what it takes to run a successful website. Two years later, I can say I know a little bit more.

Even if the information is out there on the Internet, it takes time to assimilate this information. It takes time to experiment, make mistakes and finally discover the right way to do things. If I was a web developer working full-time in a big company while trying to learn learning all the practical things I've learnt, millions of naira might have been spent on my salary already.

Summary: It takes time to assimilate knowledge, and time is money.

Unfortunately, there is no functioning guest-book on that site! This page has been created to function as an unofficial guest book for 2Face Idibia. If you're a fan of 2face Idibia, feel free to drop your public comments for this musician here. Of course, you have to register first.

And please, his name is "2face" or "2 face", not "Twoface" or "Tuface Idibia"!.

Phones"0806" Phone Numbers on MTN Nigeria Network by Seun(mod): 5:55pm On May 10, 2005
According to a first-hand report by the Technology Times, MTN Nigeria (the popular GSM Network company) is planning to start issuing phone lines with the 0806 prefix (I.e. +234806) sometime this month.

Apparently, they have (almost) sold out their 0803 sim packs, and they want to keep up their growth to maintain their status as the most popular GSM network in Nigeria (in fact, they are the most popular phone network!)

The Original Report

I wonder if they are missing a marketing opportunity by introducing the 0806 lines only after running out of 0803 numbers. They could have chosen to start selling the 0806 numbers from the beginning of the year to post-paid customers only!

Why must your man be older than you?

(I mean, many of the younger men have no problem dating girls older than them and some are even willing to marry a girl who is older ... it appears the reverse is not the case, or am I missing something?)
