The next step will be to ban any one that verbally abuses or uses derogatory words on the female gender. We birth. We give lives. We increase humanity. We make and keep homes. So it's very unfair to read some unprintable names they call us, only here in Nairaland! It might look simple, but it's a terrible offense against the female gender and humanity itself.

Some of us are low-keyed business tycoons, some are captains of industries, Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers. Some are doctors, lawyers/barristers, Engineers, to mention but a few. Some of us are here just for the fun of it, and not because we're jobless.

It hurts me as a woman to see some Nairaland boys (they're not men irrespective of their age, because men are matured and don't usually resort to any kind of violence when handling the female gender), raining abuses on the women folks. Calling us whores and every negative word they can think of.

Please instruct the Mods to also look into those derogatory comments aimed at belittling or body shaming the female gender. And issue long term ban to anyone found culpable of such.

I told him that I have become convinced that he is biased because I asked him to host the GRV AMA which was good for Nairaland, but he refused. I have told him to work on his bias and try to conduct himself in a way that will convince everyone that he's no longer biased.

This claim is flawed Seun. Drug trafficking news comes in randomly and the fact that one tribe is involved most cannot be conclusively interpreted as a campaign against that tribe.
I can decide to post news of ritual related beheadings but that's no proof I am targeting the tribe, state or region most involved in that type of crime.

Before IPOB became active with executions, the north took the lead and an innocent blogger like NigerCover would have been labelled anti-northern Nigeria blogger. Don't led any tribe hijact your restructuring in its infancy.

You will surely be banned if you don't change your ways. Go through your history and delete every slur before we catch you.

The guy first insulted my friend Fahdiga and Fahdiga insulted him back but the ethnic jingoist called Mynd44 banned only Fahdiga while his fellow tribesman is walking free and keep insulting people of a particular tribe. If you are serious about ridding this forum of tribalism then you have to start from Mynd44. See evidence below. This is selective punishment. Seun is it fair? Do justice to this please.

I think words that would be banned should be listed so we know them and avoid using them. Not all of us know they are derogatory.

Any word that is coined to address a group of people especially a tribe in a derogatory way. If you've come across such words, you will know. If you have any doubts about the use of a particular word, don't use it. Use words that are neutral. Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Obidients, BATists, etc.

We have no plan to add phone number verification at this time, but we are looking into various means of dealing with the menace.

We have noticed the use of ethnic slurs and other derogatory names by a small but persistent group of political actors and trolls.

This practice of derogatory name-calling adds no value to the forum. It's bad for our mental health, our harmony as a community, and the reputation of Nairaland. It's simply toxic. Its presence and the presence of the people who use those slurs will not be missed.

Therefore I have decided to ban the practice entirely. I have instructed dominique, mukina2, Lalasticlala and Mynd44 to ban anyone who uses an ethnic slur or derogatory name on Nairaland. The antispam bot will also contribute to the effort. Please report any case that you see.

Dear Seun,

I joined Nairaland sometimes in 2007, about 11 years ago, and I think I am qualified to give this advice.

The rate at which youth abuse themselves, their tribes, ethnicity, and religion is worrisome and if we continue like this, we may not have a country to continue to call our own anytime soon.

My suggestion is that the moderators should ban any member that refer to anybody here as yeroba, ipobs etc or any other derogatory names that suggest insults to any particular tribe or people.

You can unite and begin to heal the Nation in your own little way.

I was shocked and saddened to read an unconfirmed report on Twitter about the death of one of Labour Party's Polling Unit agents at the Trade Fair Area of Lagos. He was said to have been shot on Saturday by APC thugs during the Lagos Governorship election on March 18, 2023.

The report by @omoelerinjare said:
"Good morning all, it is with a heavy heart that Onyeka, one of our strong members and our PU agent at K1 lost his brother who also was a PU agent at the Trade Fair area of Lagos. He was shot on Sat by APC thugs. His body has been taken home for burial."

The name of the victim was not provided but his brother was named as Onyeka. He is pictured below, with the alleged victim of APC thugs. If this report is true, this is the first death resulting from the violent election day attacks against Labour Party members in Lagos.
