Religion is such a pain. I wonder why women put up with a religion that has little or no respect for them. undecided

I got this in my inbox, from the administrator of ghanaweb.com:
> Nairaland is the most popular Nigerian site but its popularity is
> very low in view of the
> size of Nigerian population. It's Alexa ranking is only 37,426. You
> think you have a formula
> which works very well but I think you are wrong. If your formula is
> really working well you should
> have an Alexa ranking in the range of 500-2500 considering the size
> of the Nigerian population.

He seems to think he can just waltz in and take over the Nigerian market. Maybe he's right; I don't know.

This culture of 'obedience' really enrages me. Don't watch it if you're a woman or particularly sensitive.

If you're considering Java, you might as well use C#.NET. It's better designed and supports Windows well.

Even if you think you're rambling, there will always be something I can pick up. Getting no response is worse!!

I've been able to get about 5 potential customers from all over the world to say something about their needs with respect to the application i wanted to develop. It appears that many people use CRM software for the purpose, while others use free resources on the Internet. They seem to be satisfied with their current systems. It appears that to make my application compelling I really have to focus on a more narrow niche.

Meanwhile, I've been working on a kickass embedded http 1.0 server written with python. It does 1800 requests per second on my humble PC without breaking a sweat, and 2000 per second if compiled. I'm sure it can do even better if I run the http client on a separate computer. Funny thing is it's a simple, threaded server. My big question is how can I immediately profit from this little amount of work I've done? huh huhhuh

Nairaland General › The Future Of Nairaland & The Competitive Landscape by Seun(mod): 12:04pm On Aug 07, 2007
Hello,

Nairaland is currently the most popular Nigerian website, but the site has not been growing. I thought it was due to the downtime issues, so after last month's involved server maintenance process, I expected the site to gain more traffic instantly. The reverse has been the case; probably because of my crackdown on HYIPs.

Now there are competitors springing up left and right, including foreigners operating sites much bigger than mine, but out of fear I have been reluctant to change the Nairaland formular that seems to be working so well. I'm afraid that this fear of mine will enable a new competitor to rise up and overtake Nairaland.

That's so sad, isn't it? What are we to do? What am I to do?

If you buy a laptop, you will only need a 1000kva generator that costs about 15,000 naira and a 14,000 naira inverter of the same rating. You will also need a battery which I think is under 15,000 naira. Period!
