The problem I have with yours is (1) Windows Vista (2) I don't know whether it's new or used.

There's this company that's selling refurbished laptops. They are cheap but I wonder about the battery life.

Everything Internet in this country has been private sector driven.

The only thing we tried to do politically - the .NG domain name - as continued to languish - like NEPA!

The SAT-3 fiber optic link is the same story. So many promises, no delivery.

Let's beg these civil servants and politicians to stop trying to help us, because they are jinxed! cheesy

jesusfreak:
does this mean the relationship is doomed because he's never even given me a gift huh
I think your relationship is doomed because you are more materialistic than your boyfriend. There's nothing wrong with being materialistic, but you should be with someone who holds the same values otherwise:
i don't want to bring up the issue with him because it always leads to some hot argument about how i don't understand him
If you don't understand each other, and you don't hold similar values, then your relationship is doomed, sister.

Food › Re: My Boyfriend Buys Me Buka Food! by Seun(mod): 7:01pm On May 04, 2007
Here is my reaction:

1) If you don't like the buka food, and that's all he has, then you should buy your own food on the way to his house.

2) If you are a trendy babe who likes to spend money, and he's a frugal and conservative guy, that's a bad sign!

I don't really feel I've been bashed, neither do I feel I'm going to have any difficulty recruiting intelligent partners.
The sort of person who will say, "everybody bashes Seun so I can't join him" is not my type of person anyway!

If begging is a professional job, is it a decent job?
One man's meat is another man's poison. The religion of Islam encourages people to give to beggars, and that's ok.
People should be allowed to do whatever jobs they want to do, provided they are not harming others substantially.

The governor should be judged based on the presence of thieves, murderers, sexual assaulters, kidnappers, etc.

they will prefer a better life if offered.
You will be surprised to learn that most of them would still prefer to beg, because they make a lot of money from it.

Computers › Re: Nigeria Internet Exchange Point Finally Taking Off by Seun(mod): 12:16pm On May 04, 2007
If the need is so great, then why have large ISPs like Multilinks and Starcomms not started connecting to each other directly using simple routers and cost-effective WAN technology, without the IXP?

I don't believe in political solutions because soon, they will be trying to force us to patronize them, which is wrong.

and will force the Nigerian web community to develop faster
The Nigerian web community is not interested in any form of government coercion. The IXP can go to hell.
In case you haven't noticed, Internet users in Nigeria have not been asking for a local internet exchange.
Information Technology is not about Politics, it's about solving real problems that people want to pay for.

I will read the article later in the day.

Politics › Some 'Experts' Are Advocating A Two-party System by Seun(mod): 11:10am On May 04, 2007
It really pains me when I'm listening to the news and I hear a so-called expert recommending a two-party system for Nigeria. Apparently, it's a good idea because it will make the presidential debate less confusing.

Why are people so stupid? The whole point of democracy is the freedom to choose a leader. When that freedom is restricted in any way, it makes life very easy for corrupt and power-hungry despots.

If there are just two parties, and the two parties are controlled by corrupt people, what will we be able to do? If you have good ideas on how to best serve your country, state, or local government area, why should you be forced to join a party whose policies may not agree with yours? Why should you be forced to join a gang of rogues?

People calling for a two-party system because it makes voting easier should be careful lest they get it. It is like asking the government to shut down all phone companies except just two so it will be easier to choose which network to join. How stupid. (the last two companies will be very happy because it means much less competition).

The perceived success of June 12 is one reason why such 'experts' are not being laughed at, but don't forget that we only voted for MKO Abiola because we wanted the military to leave at all costs. He was very corrupt.

Some people are saying that the two party system is ideal because most small parties are filled with crooks. This is consolidation mentality singing, and as usual it's a wrong tune. Isn't it our duty as voters to vote against crooks? Isn't it the duty of INEC to screen criminals? And who says there are no crooks in PDP, the leading party?

On the issue of making the presidential debate less confusing, it's a simple matter of picking only the top candidates for the main debate! For example, in the presidential debate, the TV station organizing it could have picked Yar'adua, Atiku, and Kalu alone, depending on the candidates their viewers would like to see. It's not an INEC matter!

On the other hand, I might be wrong. Can you share your opinion on this matter, please? smiley

babyosisi: Personally I wish someone who could go and do my job daily and I'll pay them a pecentage of my salary!
Sister, you must be in the wrong job. The whole point of this topic is to give you more time to do your job!

if only there was a way someone else could read for you!
There is. You could hire someone to read a complicated text for you and then break it down for you in simpler terms.

do my PC work for me.
You mean things like software installation, dealing with viruses and worms, et cetera. That's definitely a big need.

Any more contributions? I'm sure there must be something you wish someone else would do for you. Yes, you!

Since you don't have patience and respect for your patients, you should not be a shrink. Please resign quickly.

As long as so many women are willing to open their legs to men that think they are house girls, nothing will change.

Women should stop marrying domineering men. By age 60 when they are unable to get married, they will change.
