I don't think you're counting the non-Israelites he killed for fun. David only "suffered" for a single Israelite man he murdered, but non-Israelites are human beings too. How come he didn't pay with his life? The "suffering" he experienced for killing a man was the death of his innocent son. That's injustice: his son was not guilty.

The old testament laws written by Moses allowed Israelites to own human beings as property and to sell their daughters (and sons?) into slavery. Foreign slaves had absolutely no rights, while local slaves had few. Unmarried women captured in war were allowed to be taken as property and then raped (forced marriage, forced sex).

In the old testament God killed a man's innocent wives, children including babies, and servants for his petty theft. It is cruel to punish theft with death, and to extend it to the thief's innocent family. It is not acceptable.

David was a murdered and Joshua practiced genocide. Moses was in support of rape and slavery.

Accounts in the old testament reveal God to be cruel, unyielding, and hypocritical. Let's leave Muhammad alone.
