There are two angles to every story. It may be that you are the one who is stingy and she is just being understanding by telling you all those things. "You just have to give me what i want, not what you like" is not an outrageous demand, it is common sense. Maybe she observes that you are the kind of boyfriend that buys a football (or sexy lingerie) for his girlfriend on Valentine's Day! Who knows? Selfish gifts are shameful and wasteful. If you give me a gift that I don't want, I'll just throw it back at you, so I can understand your girlfriend's point of view. "Materialistic" because she wants a good Valentine's Day present? Definitely not. So that is another angle from which one can approach the issue. You are the one who knows which scenario is the correct one, but really I see nothing wrong in a girl wanting to make sure you won't make a mistake with her "love day" gift. |
When I tried to watch the movie adaptation of the book, I was very much disturbed by the primitive, murderous culture of those days. |
Well it crashes a lot on my system but I still have no choice but to use it. |
What are you talking about? The EFCC is campaigning against corruption, and so are other arms of th Obasanjo Administration. |
Software remain slow simply because features are being added to take advantage of the extra speed. The more the capacity, the more a software developer wants to add more features to take advantage of it. |

Most problems which require the use of assembly language - such as operating systems and device drivers - have been solved already or are being solved by specialists in the companies that produce such products. Complex problems are best solved by languages that allow you to think on an absract level. If you write the program in a high level language and it's just not fast enough, then you can consider C++ or assembly language. Computers have become so fast that most problems these days can be solved by super-high level programming languyages like PHP and Python. So why trouble yourself with C++ or Assembly language? It took me a while to accept this. |
Well I think I am an infidel. |
Yeah. It's a touching story. I "jealous" you for the love you hav for your mum. |
Welcome to Nairaland, brother! |
Sadly, I am yet to break a heart. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity soon! When was the last time you were so stressed up you felt like just running away from your responsibilities? |
My mistake. I guess my advice was also a bit harsh. |
Girls. So did the Alhaji hypnotize her or what? She wants to eat her cake and have it. She wants to remain a virgin for boyfriend and husband-to-be and at the same time enjoy the sweetness of Alhaji. Rubbish. ![]() Solution: there is nothing she can do. The young man who calls himself her boyfriend will never forgive her so she should go and look for another boyfriend. She should not even bother to ask for forgiveness because she will not get it. Even if he tries to forgive her the issue will never stop disturbing him in his mind. He will always bring it up when there's an argument. The relationship is doomed, sorry, and it is all your friend's fault. |
The basic problem is that our young man doesn't like her lifestyle. Therefore they should separate peacefully and maybe when next they meet she will be in a position to offer him a lucrative job. But under no circumstances should he try to discourage or change her because such girls are rare and it's not good to deprive Nigeria of what she's going to achieve if encouraged. if you can't keep up, drop out - no shame in that. |
We are inefficient and so we should not invest in technology that can be misused or which can harm people if wrongly used. |
Why don't you just listen to the woman's story first? I won't answer your questions until after you listen to her story a.k.a. testimony. Listen first, talk later. |
Thanks. The first job seems to be a European job? ![]() |
This is similar to my topic My Computer Keyboard Often Needs Reinsertion or Rebooting. I solved the problem by buying a new keyboard and mouse, though I was told I could simply clean the contacts of the mouse and keyboard. |

Can someone get a warranty with a fairly used laptop? |
The Nigerian software industry will develop naturally as the demand for what they have to offer grows. Alternatively, if the telecoms system of the country can be further developed such that the cost of high speed Internet access is very low, then software outsourcing will become profitable and the demand for software talents by foreign companies will spur the local software industry to greater heights. The truth is that consumer software has become a commodity. Thanks to Linux and the worldwide open source movement, you can get 99% of what you need for your personal computer free and from the Internet. This is an advantage in disguise, because we won't have to waste our time reinventing these software products for the Nigerian market - we would only have to go to FreshMeat.net and download . So there is little or no demand in the area off-the-shelf software and it's ok if the Nigerian software industry doesn't get involved in it.When it comes to custom software development, the poor performance of PHCN (NEPA!) is making it unwise for small and medium scale businesses to use software to automate their operations. So the only place where a reasonable of demand for local software exists is in large multinational corporations and government agencies. And that is what the few software companies in the country are focussed on. Getting multi-million naira contracts from a handful of institutions. Obviously, the software people will not be able to gain a lot of experience by serving such a tiny market. The only way forward that I see for this industry is for telecoms and power supply services to become inexpensive and reliable, so that software outsourcing operations and development of software for SMEs will become much more viable. |
How would a Nigerian manage to get more than one CC? ![]() |
