The simple answer is a classic monopoly market, control the market and give people whatever is good for u and the price that is good for u as usual.
In this case tecno monopolise the market not because they are the only brand available but because of lack of exposure and deep knowledge about phone by the market itself.

People with tight budget can get oukitel C12 with 2gig ram and more powerful processor is going for 25k.

This tecno phone should no exceed 18k and 20k at most.

Honestly tecno can't stop taking people for a ride, how can phone manufacturer put mediatek MT6737 processor in a phone in 2019?
This is processor for extremely low rage phones phones in 2016, even midrange oooo and 2016 for that matter.


Mind you this MT 6737 is based on 28nm tecnody yet tecno put 3000mah battery. How will this work together?

This must be super budget like 35k anything aside from this is total wickedness and bulshit on the part of tecno.

Bro we can never tell if other brands don't see Sub Saharan Africa as market base. Every product has target markets. And that has been Tecno's market since inception. Apple and Samsung is taking Asia by storm. I'm actually glad OPPO is coming in and Nokia has woken up again under HMD and Huawei is doing market here too. It still won't stop Tecno from holding the bulk of the market. Sure they'll improve like they've always done and that will even make them more popular.

I hope the tight market in Europe, Asia, America and Middle East will eventually push other OEM to Sub-Saharan Africa just as it is playing out now, my prediction is that tecno will be more reasonable with price and specs. What people calls improvement on the part of tecno is not improvement at all to me, they always have the capability to do those things, tecno just felt their is no need for it since access to phone with those things are limited here, therefore they decides what specs they wish to give the people and slam price on it. Tell me is it improvement or choice if tecno decides to use mediatek P60 on their best phone of 2018 and still maintain same price?
The case of tenco is a classic case of monopoly.

Yes, you can't pack everything in one phone when such phone is not premium with premium price, manufacturers works on budget Viz-a-viz the likely wants of a target audience but the price of tecno camon 11 pro does not justify the specs in comparison with other OEMs. It is not peculiar with tecno camon 11pro alone but most tecno phones and this is because other OEM has ignored this market(lack of competition). That is why I have been against people here who feels tecno has been doing us a favor, I say tecno is not different from our politicians who exploit us why we praise them and come to their defence.

it's not a Nigerian thing. They don't only sell phones here. As much as you want to ignore it, they are a force to be reckoned with in this part of the world. Why do they sell the most phones in sub Saharan Africa? Trust me, other brands aiming to penetrate are learning from them. If you know more about marketing you'll understand my point.

The issues with other brands is that they really don't see Sub-Saharan Africa as a worthy market right now except South Africa. Their focus is where money is. Europe, America, India, China, Middle East and to some extent south Africa. Even if they realese phones that could compete in Sub-Saharan Africa, they just don't push it, they allow the product to market itself. Infinix just tried to penetrate India and you can check the reviews in Indian.
Bottomline is tecno did not do anything special, they went to market others sees no hope and gives them something even though it is not standard, people will buy it because the alternative is limited.

The answer is tecno will feel it and will be forced to upgrade and offer better specs for money.

Do u imagine tecno will be under fire like it is today 2 years ago? No but with access to aliexpress, rise of risk takers who are ready to test unknown brand and recommend it to others based on their experience and the rise of regular phone importers on nairaland has opened people's eyes to the trick of tecno and provides previously unavailable options.
Just imagine OPPO, Xiaomi and Co could double down here in Nigeria what would have happened to tecno and infinix.

no special strategy, it is our attitudes in Nigeria, why has their strategy not work in advanced country where the public and government knows what they are doing.

If you want to study strategy, Apple, Huawei, 1+series and others are worthy to study not tecno.

Tecno strategy is to meet the blind people and mould clay then tell them they should pay for it as television. How will they know it is not television when they don't even have eyes to watch television.

They are paid per post, I even feels it is just one or two person with several usernames. They open thread about selling any phones (that has potential of beatning with their thrash product in the market) because it is not good and then turn around to use it as a reference why u should buy tecno later on another thread.

Yes it is a good phone so far it does it's job properly however the spec does not justify the price. If you compare it with other OEM spec for spec, this phone should be in the range of 50/55k at most 60k.
