readonenaire: 20th. March, 2025 POE: Washington Dulles (IAD)
Arrived on BA at 9:07 Those weird looking buses took us to passport control/customs, there are two separate lines for US Citizens & Others on Visa/ESTA.
Long Queue for us (Non-Citizen), got to my turn around past 10PM. Already rehearsing answers lol, address of where i am staying in DC, purpose of trip, why am staying longer beyond my purpose of visit etc lol.
CBP: Hi, how are you? Me: I am alright, you? CBP: Fine, thanks. Do you have any tobacco, food or anything to declare? Me: Naah, none of that and nothing to declare really. CBP: Alright, welcome to the US Me: Thank you.
So no stamp, i just checked my i94 while waiting at the carousel, seen i was admitted 6months.
An aside 😂; i transited through london and it was quite warm, so i was telling myself it shouldn’t be cold in America too, boy was i wrong! . After collecting my bag, went downstairs to get Metro Card and load, went back up to take Uber, decided against metro as it was too late, i tied my jacket to my waist while i drag my two bags gallantly towards the exit, door opened and the cold hit, i didn’t know when i shouted “subhanallah” flung the boxes and ran back inside then wore my jacket, i was laughing at myself.
So yeah, its spring but if you are coming to the Eastcoast, its still quite nippy, gear up.
You can purchase your domestic ticket when you landed in New York or do it before leaving Nigeria just in case they asked for evidence of those conferences at the POE.
I’m traveling to the US in May, my port of entry will be JFK. I have bought a round trip ticket and plan to return to Nigeria after 27 days. I have 2 conferences in New York and a third conference in California
I have a close relative in New York who I’ll stay with to attend my 2 New York conferences
My California conferences is 2 weeks after my New York conference
My question is this Do I need to book my domestic flight from New York to California before I travel
Do I need to book my hotel in Carlifornia before I travel ?
Debbieeeeeee: Welcome to part 5 of this thread. Old things must pass away, and new things take effect!n (Although the info in Parts 1, 2 3 and 4 remain priceless and Must/Ought to be read by any serious applicant.Part 2 was wonderful. Lots of lovely people offering great advice. Each in their own unique style. You guys rock!!! You know yourselves.
Finally, Lying on your ds 160 or during the interview is misrepresentation and a crime. This thread's aim is not to teach / coach applicants on how to lie. The truth is ALWAYS the best course of action no matter the situation. Please DO NOT ask about how to misrepresent on this thread.
I'm grateful to God that I am alive to create this new part. And for the several friends I have made hereon.
Malevonent: in my search for cheap flights to usa, i came across egyptian airline....seems to be tyhe cheapest at 1.25m to washington. anybody has experience with them?......i recall a post where someone was questioned about his trip to egypt by POE officers....when his was just a stopover
if you transit in Egypt with Egyptair, your passport will not be stamped since you did not leave the International Airside. Egyptair is not really bad, expect no luxury, getting to U.S is the most important thing and I can assist with cheap ticket although with the exchange rates you won't find any cheap ticket nowadays.
Good day guys, Do I need a transit visa to pass through New Delhi onward to Australia? Do I need a transit visa to pass through Singapore onward to Australia? and same for Malaysia? Thank you.
babs4all: Good day great people. Please I need guidance. I have a valid Schengen visa on a passport that will expire in October. I just got my US visa on my new passport. I will be travelling in July to Europe and travel to America from Europe. How do I handle the passport presentation to immigration officers in Nigeria, Europe and America? Do I have to present the 2 to Immigration guys in Naija and in Europe? When leaving Europe, do I have to present the two? Please your advice is required. Preferably someone that had similar experience. Thanks
You mean you have 2 active Nigeria passport or 2 different passport from 2 different countries?

karixz: Good evening house. Please I need a very urgent answer to this question. I have my visit visa interview tomorrow and my relative who has a valid visit visa said they are going to follow me to my interview and talk to the visa officer with me. Is this actually possible?
How old are you? I'll advise you to take their visa along for your interview.
Eriokanmi: Check very well to be sure you're not using any of the unauthorized characters and try again. You may also log out and retry on another browser, esp Google chrome. Always use Google chrome only , when filling out your DS160
Honestly I've never used google chrome for any ds160... I prefer Firefox
Eriokanmi: UWC. The covid-19 was a good reason not to travel during that period. The entire globe was affected by the pandemic in one way or the other as everyone had a story to tell. I was one of those who narrowly escaped covid-19's arm of death. I was an index case. I infected my beautiful family as well but we all came out of it through God's mercies. I had never been so sick in my life. Everything just changed within 3 days with collapsed lungs. I was already praying to God to forgive my sins cos no sign of improvement despite all the prescribed drugs taken, kai. I shared the horrible experience on NL sometime ago. I renewed my German Shengen visa late 2019, thinking I'd use it in 2020, alas!. Till it expired late 2021, I couldn't use it due to same reason. I hope I'd not be on a hot seat by the time I go back there to renew. Good luck to you.
visol: Good day Nairalanders, Please, can you provide me with answers to both questions below:
1. I just received my I-20 document and I need to pay the SEVIS Fee to book a visa appointment. I tried to use WesternUnion, but it appears that Nigerians in Nigeria are not allowed to make payments via WesternUnion. Please how do I make this SEVIS Fee payment here in Nigeria.
2. Can payments for flight tickets to the US from Nigeria be made in Naira (If yes what rate is usually used) or it must be in USD?
Thank you for the anticipated feedback!!
If you have someone in the U.S they can help with payment. I can assist with flight ticket to the U.S.
Dansakimotors: I paid for Visa since January and since then have been searching for interview date, Was lucky to get a date last week Thursday (i.e on the 4th of May) scheduling me for Monday this week (8th of May). Went for my Interview and Luckily for me was asked to pick up my Visa 5-10 working days time. Am so happy i did not go and waste exorbitant money to buy interview date. God wey do my own go do una own to.
Can you share the Interview Transcript? Congratulations

I have a visa appointment on Friday, May 5th and wondering if I will have to reschedule it. Any ideas?
After Approved you will have to wait for it to change to Issue, then it will be transfer to DHL, So expect between 2-4 weeks.
