africana10: Hello all, I have a question about POE interview… A family member is traveling to the US next week on a B2 visa that’s going to expire at the end of October 2021. Duration of stay according to ticket booked is 4 1/2 months cause she’s visiting her daughter who is scheduled to give birth in the US. Will the length of stay present any problems at POE? ( especially considering the fact that her visa is set to expire in less than a month from entry?) What should her response be if asked how long she is staying for? Would appreciate your ideas, opinions and suggestions. Thanks! You when traveling to the U.S one thing you need to note is that there's more than 1 dept/unit in charge of entry into U.S... The Consular and the CBP officers at the Airports or Seaports. For a visa with October expiry date you will mostly get a 6 months extension at the Airport (POE) if there is no problem, which means you must leave the United States before April. My problem with this is that it will be a bit difficult to get visa renewal, you must have a very good reason for the embassy to renew your visa after overstaying beyond what they gave you at the embassy. You need to think it through, I will advice you to write the embassy just for information purposes. |

Hello friends, Please I need advise on what to do regarding my mom's Ds-160 application form. I lost my dad some years back and am supposed to fill in 1908 as his year of birth, but the ds-160 form currently is not taking any year lower than 1911. Note there is no option of Do not know on the date of birth. Thanks In the case that do no know is not an option on the form, I will advise you to call the embassy for clarification. |

fkj950ax: She may not have any issue at all. The visa gives her the right to arrive at any US border on or before the expiry date. The duration of stay may exceed the expiry date of the visa. Its the date stamped on her passport that forms her I94 profile that matters. Its usually 6 months. If there is any concern they have at POE, the they annotate the passport with NOAS, NEOS etc etc. If she's an elderly citizen, which I suspect she is, gong to tend to her daughter and birth of her grandchild, she will be fine. What is her age (range) and status of the daughter? These are the only things that may come in play with CBP... You're right and this is what will happen, I would also suggest she answers what was asked at POE, I believe everything will be fine. |

There's nothing like 3 days rule.... Covid test must be taken within 72 hours before your flight... your negative/positive last for at least 5-7 days. |

ultimatebas: This was i think 2015 or 2016. I was narrating my wife's ordeal at Houston POE to a friend (how my wife went to put to bed in Houston) then he overheard our discussion. That was how he narrated his own story to me. I don't know where his wife works but the husband is my colleague. The wife is a mechanical engineer and i think she was doing her masters in one of our Nigerian Universities then. As you know 2015-2017 was the easiest years to get U.S visa till we spoilt it by abusing the terms of visa. I doubt someone will get U.S visa now without good travel history and very good verifiable work. At this point, God has nothing to do with it. |

ultimatebas: I think what he is trying to say is your chances are low. But with travel history the probability is higher.
Of course there are people who got it the first time without having travelling history. A colleague of mine got it the first time without travel history and it was even for child birth. His wife and himself even renewed their visa and it was approved the second time. When was this and what does she do for a living? |

Christabeliciou: Wanted to say communication gap between my husband n vo. But I like seeking advise, if u tink my response shd b denied under section 214, its ok then. Thank you for the response If you were not given a visa after the Interview, it simply means you're denied a U.S Visa, there's no way around, do not play smart... the correct answer should be, I was denied a U.S Visa with my husband. |

Ruggedly: I don’t think you understood what I wrote .No she stayed 4 months about 3 years ago so now she wants to renew and she heard that her 4 months stay 3 years ago might be a problem for her so she is worried. She has been to the US about 5 times but the last time she travelled 3 years ago she stayed for 4 months I get you, what I was saying is that, she has nothing to worry about if she can defend herself and one more thing, I know she didn't stay in Hotel throughout the 4 months, hope she included the person she's stayed with in her previous application. |

Have fun while in the U.S Infiosa: My wife and I landed at JFK on 23rd May, 2021
Me: Hi, how’ are you doing? CBP: I’m doing good, where are you coming from? Me: Lagos Nigeria CBP: purpose of visit Me: Vacation CBP: How long are you staying for? Me: 4 weeks and few days and I also explained why I have decided to stay for more than 4 weeks. I stated that it was my first time in the US though, I have been to most of European countries- UK inclusive and South Africa on personal and official reasons. I told the POE officer that I really want to enjoy it this first time. We both laughed.
CBP: Where will you be staying? Me: Hotel, I mentioned the hotel's name in Manhattan and handed over the booking slip to him. He didn't actually check anything.
He asked me to remove my face mask and captured me. Then my wife's biometrics was just captured, no further questions were asked. |

KeleDon: Bro i went online and saw documents in which they stated down for one to bring along with him or her. Why i am here is to ask experienced people who have visited the embassy or who have gone through visit process either successfully or not. About 4years ago my friend was successful ly granted visa via the cousin asking her to come baby sit her kids for 3weeks, she has lots of family based there in US oh and this my friend cousin has been there for almost 20years. But she was granted visa. Everything for this life na grace. Did she eventually return to Nigeria after visiting U.S? |

Lmaaaaoooo na wa oooo... so in all of U.S she need to invite a stranger from Nigeria to look over her (da) daughter fkj950ax: There is no sample. The embassy doesn't ask for invitation letter You are too fixated on invitation letter and not listening to people. At the interview, you will explain this to them verbally. They don't need anyone writing to them explaining anything.
When you fill your DS160 form, you will state your reason for travelling. In the form, you will state who is sponsoring you In the form, you will state any familial relationship you have. You can't attach an invitation letter to your form, and as stated on this thread severally, the VO's chances of collecting a letter to read at the interview is 0.999%.
PS. There is nothing in English language spelt as "da". Stop using it when communicating anywhere. |
