Now, children of the people ferried away who wish to visit their ancestors' grave are been mandated to apply for visas...Abi someone whose father moved to Lagos or Abuja from village cannot enter bus to go visit him?
Only God can judge...even our Supreme Court go review this injustice tire...
As usual...na humor I dey o. Who sold the slave to them? we've been enslaving ourselves before European set foot on Africa. Not saying slavery is good, in short Africa should be compensated. N.B For your information, most slave trade transaction were made between European and an African Chief before they ship the slave to the New World, Brazil and the Caribbean and sold them for profit to the Americas (North & South) |

Taal17: Data from dhs.gov Overstay report for FY 2018 puts overstay rate at 15.18% for Nigeria for NIV, that corresponds to 29000 plus out of just over 195000 entries to the US. We have never had 8 out of 10 people overstay NEVER. Your supposed statistical evidence is misinformed. Overstay rate includes both incountry overstays and out country overstays. Our personal experiences do not count as empirical evidence or core hard facts
They are not Statistics and data do not lie.... you mean less than 15% of Nigerian visitor to U.S overstay? Please loud it. |

abnot: Something strange happened to me at JFK this morning. The APC receipt printed an X over my profile information. Thereafter I proceeded to the CBP desk and was admitted for 6 months. Thereafter the CBP officer who admitted me locked up her closet and asked me to come with her to get my checked in bag. We picked it up and she took me near the exit door of terminal 4 and handed my passport over to her colleagues there (though none of them were putting on a CBP uniform). The colleague searched my bag and put it through a scanner. Then searched my body and asked for the names of people I plan to visit on this trip. After that he handed me my passport and said I can go.
I would have called this secondary inspection but I was admitted for 6 months prior to this search and they initiated no phone call or got any approval prior to letting me go. They also didnt ask for any documentation aside from counting the amount of cash I had on me. The whole delay took about 15 mins. Is this something new ? Havent been to USA since September 2019. Few things happened; 1) you had a muslim name 2) you traveled with raw food 3) the airline randomly flagged you 4) they suspected you to be a drug mule 5) CBP system flagged you because you visited U.S twice within 6 months. etc |

fkj950ax: Found this online (BBCNews) and also in a YouTube Video Answers the question of CBP in Dublin Ireland
More than 600 US law enforcement officers are stationed at 15 locations around the world checking travel documents, passports, visas and making sure travellers abide by strict customs and agriculture importation rules. In total 18m people went through the pre-clearance system around the world last year - 15% of all commercial air travellers flying into the US. Ireland is the only European country with pre-clearance facilities. Its pre-clearance operations take place in Dublin and Shannon airports - a deal between the US and Ireland dates back to 1986, with the County Clare airport offering only immigration checks initially. Last year, border officials processed about 1.18m people in Dublin and 204,000 people in Shannon. These outposts are a little bit of America in Ireland - the staff are all American, there are stars and stripes everywhere and even the vending machines are distinctly American. After filling in security and customs forms, scanning passports and fingerprints, passengers can gleefully skip past the long immigration queues upon arrival, pick up their bags and go when in US Airports They are effectively treated as domestic arrivals and Dublin Airport says the whole process can save passengers at least two hours. They have one in Abu Dhabi. |

If anyone goes to study legally in the US and along the line finds a job or family to sponsor for a green card that is 100% legal.
Thousand of Nigerians benefited from the DV Lottery in doves when the program initially started...so no it wasn't just 1 out of 10 applicants who won the DV lottery in its early years.
And yes most jobs sponsorship for green card also came from post study visas.
And to your last point, yes some applicants do decide to stay back in the US even after their visits or business to legalize their stay either through job or family sponsorship....of which is still legal under US Immigration laws. I have 2 friends that won the DV Lottery. |

ibukunpops: When you guys say don't use agent, it is very annoying sometimes. Not everyone has the time to sit and read hundreds of pages on a thread There are agents that are well traveled and know their onions, not every agent is a quack so to say
Why not "if you have to use an an agent, ensure they are credible'
Alot of people have gotten Visa denials when they dont know exactly how/what they are meant to state on the forms or the appropriate supporting documents to upload/submit to give them a better chance with the VO.
I know people that chose VI only to realize they had to pay more or even chose the wrong type of appointment and had no choice than to pay for them at TLS.
Please you guys should be gentle on the 'dont use agents'
Thank you. No one is against using credible agent. |

Matinho: Staying for 3 months does not mean he did something wrong. There is no law that says you cannot stay in the USA, as long as you do not overstay your welcome. European citizens with ESTA stay the whole period they are eligible to stay and still come back weeks later for another visit. All because he is Nigerian that stayed for some months he is being profiled. However,if he has a tangible explanation to back up the stay its all good. To be Nigerian is a hassle,no country respects us but its a wake up call to the citizenry. Do we do the right thing? do we respect others? technically staying in U.S for 3 months is no big deal but logically it means he can decided to stay in U.S for over 6 months if he can stay for 3 months, I believe this can only work for (Nigerian) women not men. |

waleey27: F2 visa makes more sense. However, he will need an I-20 from his wife’s school which may mean showing proof of funds to the school again enough for him, his wife and any children they have. If he doesn’t want that stress and he can prove convincingly that he has a good job that keeps him in Nigeria (that will be his tie to the country), then B1/B2 will be the best bet. Seconded |

mrprolifik: Contrary to whatever advice you must have been given on nairaland forum. I want you to go through this link it's the website of the USA embassy in the UK and this page specifically answers your question. I hope it's of use to you. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/non-immigrant-visa-faqs/visa-refunds/ When on the page click on. I am a legal resident in the United kingdom . Why dont I qualify for a visa. After going through the link, the website expressly stated that ''The consular officer who evaluated your application is accredited in the United Kingdom and is only able to assess your ties to the United Kingdom.
It is not possible for consular officers here to be experts about all other countries, or to understand any social or economic ties you may have to another country. Nevertheless, even though your application has been refused in the United Kingdom, if you are here temporarily you may be able to qualify for a visa if you applied at home.
Consular officers in your home country are better able to assess your situation there.''
Madam don't waste your money applying in the UK. |

SmartKitty1: Whatever happened if he had money for to his 3 months stay in US, he had money to buy his own return ticket and to be back on time, not overstaying.
6 months stamp is for emergency cases, maybe the tourist got in an accident and he/she was in the hospital (provide your hospital documents), maybe he/she was in jail (provide documents) or something really very serious making the travel at time IMPOSSIBLE. As usual the SHORT CUT nature of Nigerian will manifest by any means... just listen to yourself? none of those things happened and you're trying to put idea into his head, we need to do better. |

fkj950ax: Thank your Mother who is obviously praying for you. Your agent is probably using stolen cards to buy tickets. The card owner found out and the return leg was cancelled. The embassy could have detained and handed you over to PoliceNG along the Invictus Obi angle. A reason why US Govt is hard on Nigerians today is online and card fraud. That's another angle but why will you get an agent that will do that? is that not madness? |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by seyewest(m): 9:25am On Feb 20, 2020 |
tunlaji: Thanks for the reply. The first time I went for the visa interview I was refused and after 4 weeks I applied again with same info and got the visa. I was neither married or with kids, I went on vacation but my travel plans changed, I will give the reasons why.
The ticket I bought from an agent ended up being one-way even though I paid for a return ticket, he got the date I was traveling on the ticket but never fixed the date I was returning even though I reminded him severally before we both parted at the airport (don't ask me how that is possible) , so when it was time for me to return, I realised there was no history of a return ticket, the agent promised to rectify the issue week after week until it became evident I had to buy another ticket. That's just one reason why, I don't want to share the other for personal reasons.
I'm convinced the refusal was on the grounds of the travel ban, just to make it more tough for Nigerian's to travel there and nothing more cuz the VO was very mean to everyone he attended too, if I knew I would have just switched queue If your ticket is a one way ticket from Lagos and you're on tourist visa, no airline will allow you boarding to U.S, I'm very sorry but this lie will not work oooo, do you know what they called APIS? APIS is Advanced Passenger Information System used by CBP to identify travelers to U.S and to fish out likely drug mule, terrorist etc. 3 months is U.S is a no no.... eat your L and look for another country. |
