BABSFREY:
Dear All,

I need your opinion. I applied for the nonimmigrant visa to the US this week and was asked to provide additional documents. The Consular officer was clear that he would have given me the visa if I had shown him the receipt of the birth of my kids, which I did not have with me at the time of the interview. I was given a white paper, and my passport was returned to me. I asked the Consular officer if I could send the scanned documents via e-mail, and he obliged me by providing the appropriate e-mail on the white paper. I have since sent the documents via email but still awaiting feedback.

To my questions: how will they get back to me? E-mail or phone? How long will it take for them to get back to me? How will they receive my passport? How will I pay the reciprocity fee?

Thank you all for all the good that you all do on here.
They will acknowledge receipt of your email and if your administrative processing was positive, they will send you a mail to come to the embassy to pay the N49000 and submit your passport.

Europe or Asia will be more than enough with the Dubai trip.

That's not true.

How does any Nigerian migrate to the US illegally?

Most Nigerians migrate legally to the US with a non-immigrant visa(B1/B2 or Student) or Immigrant visa(through family/spouse petition).
TRUE... they usually overstay.

Plumber in U.S dey rake in correct money oooo... even more than 8-5 people... don't look down on that kind of job.

Same experience for me, when I travelled with my whole family and inform 9jas that I met around that we are all coming back alot them were surprise but I asked why, I told them I won't abuse my visa, I have alot of travel experience,i have a good job more so I have an obligation to be honest so I have no reason to abuse the visa.i know the country is tough but some people will ever come back no matter what cos they believe in 9ja
So refreshing to hear.... God bless you, you won't regret it.

Hmmm...that has been happening like forever.

I know of someone who the highlighted incident happened to.

However, because their father couldn't petition the green card directly for their mother one of the siblings petitioned the green card for the mother after they got their green card through the father and became US citizens.
Chain Migration....so many ways to beat the system but our population is actually the problem, if 20% B1/B2 visa holder stay behind that's more than 100k people compared 20% of Kenya which is around 5k ( meaning the U.S Govt focus will be on Nigeria not Kenya) reason why Ghana is making a lot of progress because they have the right population for their landmass.

Yes but as at 2017 that he got that visa, it was much easier then but in 2019 all the VO's have been given koboko laden with chilly pepper by Donald Olusegun Ibrahim Eze Trump to flog shege comot from visa applicants, everything has been tightened, the kulikuli lies that people tell and get visas in 2016/17 will rarely fly now

You have to bring your top jokers to the table when applying for US visas especially as a Nigerian or else, koboko dey embassy to flog people, are Nigerian's still getting western visas, yes but not like before.. Let me head back to my hide out on Mount Everest with my plate of fresh fish pepper soup and Jack Daniels, it is very cold on this Mountain, the pictures below depicts what the VO'S are currently doing at the US embassy tongue
But this is not koboko now... grin grin grin

You excuse Buhari's disastrous government for the mess going on in Nigeria?

Other govts were slow and irresponsible
Buhari govt is flat out destructive

Look at the 2020 budget

More money for debt service than CAPEX

It has not happened in more than 30 years

Buhari cannot be exonerated from the damage he has caused this country

And his punishment is waiting for him
Maybe you did not take your time to read what I wrote there, I never did and won't exonerate the Govt but these issue did not start in 2015.

You seem to assume nigerians only abuse visas to USA. NO,!!! We abuse visa to every country including African country. So even if you apply to other countries they still deny genuine travellers too . And the percentage of people from visa free countries abusing their visas is very very minute otherwise they will stop it with immediate effect. Despite the fact that USA has a visa free pact with European Union, they still require visas from Cyprus and Bulgaria who are members despite repeated protest from EU. And even though it is visa free...you still need to apply online for ETA so they the number of people entering and the numbers going out. Let us stop this idea of nigeria is bad so we must do something illegal in another man's country. Migrate legally. Go to school. Get post study visa. Do something legal for the sake of others coming behind so the world won't quarantine us more than this
You like wahala, they will tell you to shut up... all way na way... grin

He's talking about Letter of Invitation not what was said during the interview.

The thing about a lie is the more often it is repeated, it starts sounding like the truth.
There are booklets at all Immigration offices.
Immigration officials create an atmosphere of scarcity to make people switch to "Help me make it come out faster, and I will 'see you'"
This is the basis for bribe across the country.
some we say na Buhari cos am, they wanted Nigeria to be like Dubai within 4 yrs but they forgot about those who stole our commonwealth and fail to pay pension, they forgot about those who looted money meant for Soldiers, they forgot about those who had the opportunity to make the country work but instead they milk the country dry. Nigerians are the problem, they want short cut instead of doing the right thing, anybody is free to leave the country, the rest of us will do our best we can do, I don't understand why some can't leave in peace and shut up.

Pls I have once applied for an America visa but I was denied.the invitation letter was from my uncle who has lived there for over 25yrs,he is a lecturer in one of the colleges in texas.i spoke to him about my intentions to travel abroad the last time he visited us,so he agreed he was going to invite me.though we bare the same surname but for one or two reasons I was denied at the embassy.but I am thinking of reapplying with the influence of his son which is my cousin........he is a 3star general or so in the U.S army and we also share the same surname.....my point is would the embassy take my cousins position in the government into consideration by granting me a visa .....because I keep on hearing from locals that if a government official invites someone, there is a great chance of the person been granted a visa.....Incase you wanna know why I didn't request the letter from my 'auwa' cousin initially,we didn't have a relationship until recently.
Though after my 1st denial at the embassy,my plan was to tour Europe before I try America again, which could take me 2yrs to achieve and it's quite a long period for me to bear in this country, but lately it just seem as if I could use my cousin's influence in the American government, instead of going through the stress of travelling to Europe b4 reapplying for America again
Pls house I need valid advices
Thanks.

This is the second time you're going to mention this highlighted statement.

Are you the father of 4 and a youth corper that is serving?

Either way, having more kids than you can financially afford to sustain and support in this very harsh Nigeria Economy is very unwise of such a person.

Now as per the other excuses the you listed there concerning the un-fair practices of opportunities being practices in Nigeria well unfortunately that is the evil beast of Nigerians that only the strong and fearless can overcome.

The catch all phrase for most of these jobs is "petty trading". In reality, a vast majority of Nigerians survive on small scale/petty trading, small scale manufacturing and farming. The government and private sector employs a smaller percentage of Nigerians. I recall seeing some statistics that put Nigeria's labor force at about 60 million with 70 percent involved in agriculture as an ocupation. But don't look down on these jobs. Many raise families and educate their kids through university level on these jobs.
Haaaa... stop saying things like this, you want them to attack you, they see nothing good with Nigeria, I know someone that made N5.8m from fish pond, this life is very funny ooo, your attitude to work can never be change even if you run to U.S.

One just has to really prove beyond any reasonable doubts to the VO that you'll use the visa as intended.

Hello all

I need your help
Am a regular traveller too but it seems it’s my turn to need help now
I am due for an interview in November
Me and my wife are due booked.
The November was the earliest date I could get even though I paid the visa fees in July.
However my passport will expire in March and I am due to travel to Chicago in December.
Will it not be an automatic denial giving the 6 month validity rule.
Do i need to get a new passport in which I will do the interview all over again.
I will need to pay another visa fee and wait for another 6months l

This will be my fifth US visa.i have travelled regularly to the us in the past 8 years.
I have also travelled to all continents(Saudi,India,GERMANY,Turkey,Brazil,Egypt,South Africa,Great Britain etc)and lived abroad before.
Kindly advice based on experience and anecdotes
You've not been to Antarctica, that I'm sure of.
Apply with your passport and renew before you travel, you have an impressive travel history.

Na so I be dey strongly believe too. Just that this una Bubu wey una give us no dey make am look so.... It is only by God and individual effort that the hope lies now, not on the government as led by that man you guys "voted twice, TWICE" according to and as emphasized by @Ugosample.

Buhari na dream killer, while dumbly allowing/committing the greatest heist and rape of our collective patrimony with his gang! I hope you know the failings of our government is adding more to the stringent hurdles Nigerians have to face to procure these visas? How person for do if to say we never first bam? I have several well doing friends and colleagues that got done with Naija and Buhari and have taken a bow off the Nigeria stage to the US and Canada legally and illegally so to speak, people with brains oh, additions to any society they will ever find themselves, another twist to brain drain surely. You remember what the liliputian Ngige said to and about our doctors previous year, who does that?

My better half and I have good jobs in the Nigeria context, both Canada and America citizen kids (except for one), they already have an edge no doubt, the major reason I'm less bothered and not willing or thinking to exit this stage. But for others, they are mostly doing it for their kids, not necessarily because of an all out willingness. A bank manager friend of mine when I probed why he gave up and exited did say being in that sector all he was seeing was bleakness and doom that the general public may not see, and he doesn't want to regret not taking his children out of it while he had clear cut opportunities to do so. I'm talking of people leaving with several tens (almost hundreds in some cases) of thousands of USD to booth with and as shock absolvers to whatever the new system will throw at them initially.

MAY NIGERIA BE GREAT!
You know we've been moving since 80's especially mid 90's and early 2000''s so people moving no be today, I don't get this Buhari blame (The LA 88 boys, the Drug Mule, Human Trafficker) Governors, Rep, LG Chairman not performing is not Buhari's fault.
