wuki: Personally, I’d be careful with this approach. FYI: long before you appear for your interview, the consulate likely would have reviewed the data on your DS-160 and added in their notes. This is the only logical explanation to why interviews sometimes last as short as a minute. The VO probably already knows what [s]he needs to know. Coming up to say: “hey, I want to be heard” comes at the expense of sounding desperate. Of course every applicant is there to be heard; saying it out loud is simply counterintuitive. Going on to start explaining things without being asked could see you shooting yourself in the foot. My fist visa interview back in 2010 resulted in a denial and I wasn’t even given a chance to explain what seemed to be a concern to the VO. I secured another interview 3 days later with the help of a friend at CGI — and my interview lasted only 3 minutes. VO didn’t raise any of the concerns from my previous interview from 3 days ago; in short, my visa was issued. This is exactly why I mentioned earlier that your next interview may not necessarily follow the same pattern as the former. Carry all supporting docs to argue your case, be brief to the point and don’t forget your confidence at home. Show no desperation or slickness. And state your own story in reason why they denied you visa section, your explanation will be noted. |

We have tried calling and sending emails but no one has been helpful. Has anyone seen this before, any suggestions on what can be done? I am getting very worried about it. He should check his ceac site for his visa status. |

We must understand why this thread was created. This thread/forum is to help genuine traveler to U.S, who wishes to apply through Non-Immigrant visa and we have more a lot of success story as well as second chance applicant who got it. Insult, abuse and threat will not be tolerated here as well as people trying to encourage people to get visit visa through fraudulent means. Please if you have nothing useful to say, please stay away from this thread. Thank You |

OmoBendel24: Let her tell us what was filled in that profile of theirs.
Meanwhile, lemme repeat once more, a Civil Servant that has put in a good number of years on the job does not really have a weak profile as we may think. Age, property, years of experience and assumed "job satisfaction" (hope you know holding on to that civil service job come what may is a norm here? Not always looking for the next good place to work unlike the upwardly mobile Bankers that have absconded severally and giving us deeper bad name, no civil servant wants to leave his/her retirement benefits just like that na) can cover for them.
Actual weak profiles will scarcely snatch a visa. "Japaist" are having a hard time getting a US visa now, seriously Your brain is working my guy. |

Now the person has an opportunity of travelling with a deputy governor as one of the entourage. Sponsored by state government does this person as stand a chance of been denied ? 2. Won't there be any interview for the those people the state government choose as entourage? 3. Is there any possibility that the passport can be stamped and returned to them without appearing at the embassy for interview as its from the goverment?. Any body with knowledge pls Thanks Depending on the passport you will be presenting and the protocol office involve in the visa application, most time they will issue the visa but it maybe for the duration of the visit. |

Mancala: I guess we can agree to disagree on this. America prides itself in doing the right thing and takes it as a thing of pride. They welcome this type of feedback. I have no issue with the approval or denial rated. I believe they can do much better in the way they treat us especially when compared with other similar countries in similar situations No country in the world is in similar situation with U.S immigration policy. |

helpee: The only right you have when you apply for a visa is the right to get a decision. Since you paid for it, they must give you a decision. So the moment they deny you the visa, they have fulfilled their contractual part of the process. They owe you a decision. How they arrive at that decision is non of our business This story may not be related with what we are saying but the only lesson there is this....YOU CANT DICTATE TO THE OWNER OF THE HOUSE HOW HE SHOULD SCREEN HIS VISITORS. If you don't want to be bitten by a dog or you don't want to waste money applying for a visa, stay clear of the embassy. This should lay this argument to rest. full stop |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by seyewest(m): 8:32pm On Oct 17, 2019 |
helpee: This is not immigration visa. This is clearly a non immigration visa. After doing a thorough check, they are still under no obligation to give you visa because you are a visitor so what do you mean by thorough check? You make it sound like after the thorough It is non of your business. So, if USA says they only need 2minutes interview to screen those who will enter their country, it is non of our business. After all, you are only going on a visit. Is it by force to visit? You can't possibly compare it with services. If I pay you to serve me food in a restaurant, you must serve me else I complain. But if I pay you for visa especially a visit visa, I can't complain however you choose to screen your visitor. It is at your discretion cos you and only you bears the consequences. If you allow thieves into your house, you bear the consequences alone . Well said and explained. |

TWoods: I think you should see it from their point of view too...
Yes you're paying a kings ransom... to visit THEIR country. They are under no obligation to grant you an entry visa neither did they solicit your application. You applied on your own volition. The choice to apply and pay the costs are entirely voluntary, you could choose not to pay and stay in your country. Its not possible for them to do the thorough check you're asking for given the thousands of Nigerians who apply for visa interviews daily. If they were to do that, they would be unable to interview anymore than a fraction of the number of people they interview today. Other countries do not have the same sheer number of people seeking to emigrate, or level of fraud so they have more time to do a thorough interview. In countries with good reputations, the citizens rarely have to go through an interview.
I feel you're seeking to scapegoat the US for the consequences of our own failures of government. If you're unhappy with the US visa process, do not apply to visit the US. lolzzzz |

segtak25: Hi guys, I'm done filling my Ds160 form—but have not signed and submit, I'm just reviewing and adjusting, since my appointment is by december.
Please house, i need your help and want to ask..
1. On the Education section, can i add both secondary and university degree or just uni.
2. On the date of attendance to, should i put the date of completion on my certificate(july 2016) or date of graduation, which says the degree was awarded ...(december 2017)..
3. On the additional information, that talks about clan or tribe, i hope it doesn't really matter. Must i add it—like yoruba tribe.
4. I have morethan one job, pls how do i add it.
5. The language that you speak aspect, is it just english or i can add my other language.
I know this may sound funny, which is why i really need your suggestion on this pls , I'm just trying to be careful, not because of now, but for the future. I don't want to add anything that will hurt me later in the future. Add every language you understand and can speak. Do not include secondary school If you can get the exact date put it, it will be the one on the cert. Include the main job and inform them about the other job. |

If you know the number of persons I interact with currently per different Embassies matters and what my unit and job description is like, I may then not be hurting you. The high and mighty also gets refused, yes, mostly because of their "over-sabi" and underrating of these Embassies. If you genuinely have the right ties and follow the application process judiciously, you will hardly get turned down barring any coded "scraw-scraw" however! True |

Mancala: Naija no dey carry last! I have heard of well organized syndicates in Chicago, NY, Texas. Maryland, St Loius, nd a few other big cties. They will provide the citizen and an attorney and even help organize the court wedding If you don't have cash to pay, they will link you up with money lenders or pawn brokers who will pawn your assets like a car for cash. If you don't move in those circles, you will never know. Amongst other issues, this is why some of us Nigerians in the diaspora identify as Ghanians and pretend we don't know whats going on. We have worked too hard and gone too far to be associated with all the nonsense we see from our country people out here. Very rampant in Nigerian churches in U.S |

Mancala: You are taking a big leap of faith assuming majority of the people currently getting visas have the intention of returning to Nigeria. Anectdotal evidence shows a huge increase in the number of our brothers and sisters arriving here and immediately seeking out ways to remain behind. Some are here on scouting trips to see what is possible/test the waters. This thing is a big business. There are people here that match them up with citizen husbands/wives for a huge fee to facilitate the change in status. Attorneys make big business out of it by seeking loopholes to get their clients through What I know for sure is that this has been going on since the late 90's, it's not new at all, the only thing that reduced it was 911, it affected a lot of U.S domestic and foreign policy, but a lot of Nigerians were denied in the 90's and early 2000's |
