By packaging I meant ensuring detailed documentation. As you can see she seems all over the place and unsure about the process of receiving the invitation from the school. Sir, you genuinely don’t have to respond to everything lol. Like you can jump and pass. Nobody told her to be fraudulent or insinuated it.

Please don’t quote me again. Quote the original poster if you have something to tell her. I didn’t ask you any question

When you use ''Packaging'' it send a wrong idea and you said ''packaging'' that's why I'm responding to you, everything needed to apply for U.S visa is online so no need to respond to the question.

You can try your luck just package your application well. They even deny parents going for their children’s graduation. If you have family in the US add them to your travel plans for visiting. They would want to know how long you have known the friend for and when last you saw this friend. Your current situation - job, income and family ties will also come into play. But graduation of a friend is not really that solid if you don’t have solid travel history or blood relationship with the person at least.

You can't package what you don't have....but filling and answering your questions truthfully will help and go a long way.

Can you share your thoughts as to why you think she was called back? Because you initially said the computer must have approved her but VO denied her.

It’s ok not to know everything or have a response to everything. Nobody here is a monopoly of knowledge.

No need to share anything, like they said she was mistakenly approved and the error was corrected... grin
but next time you're in front of a Visa Officer look at what they do and try to understand that they depend so much on the computer especially complex issue.

So the microchip or robot realised after thinking twice he might me a terrorist or would overstay and decided to recall?

This robot must be so dumb not to remeber the last passport/applicant it processed

If you don't get it don't put your mouth, she called her back and collected her passport and the color paper and you're here talking about bot? everything is about scoring cheap and useless point with you, if you have nothing to contribute please keep quiet.

The refusal paper is just a courtesy since you paid for the application. Even if you don’t collect it, if you are not issued a visa, collect or not, you can’t get the visa.

Even if she never went back to the VO, the worse that can happen is that they would have data showing Stamping was not done but visa shows approved. And once they read the comments in the persons application they would know it was approved in the system in error.

I want to also believe that they have an audit in place to fix those kind of errors. She only called her back because it may have been a confusion for her if she later applied for a visa but the system is showing she has been approved a visa before meanwhile she in her form would have filled that she has been denied.

lolzzzzz okay.. no problem but just know that, the reason she was called back is not because her visa was issue out of error.

Seye west- while I understand the AI is huge now, the embassy is not using this for algorithms to give out or decline visa applications. I agree with you that there is probably a computerized system that summarizes the application you submit online to assist the VO make a decision. However it is ultimately the VOs decision to side or decline a visa application.

Q.1 What Is Section 214(b)?
Section 214(b) is part of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). It states:
Every alien shall be presumed to be an immigrant until he establishes to the satisfaction of the consular officer, at the time of application for admission, that he is entitled to a nonimmigrant status.
Our consular officers have a difficult job. They must decide in a very short time if someone is qualified to receive a temporary visa. Most cases are decided after a brief interview and review of whatever evidence of ties an applicant presents. To qualify for a visitor or student visa, an applicant must meet the requirements of sections 101(a)(15)(B) or (F) of the INA respectively. Failure to do so will result in a refusal of a visa under INA 214(b). The most frequent basis for such a refusal concerns the requirement that the prospective visitor or student possess a residence abroad he or she has no intention of abandoning. Applicants prove the existence of such residence by demonstrating that they have ties abroad that would compel them to leave the United States at the end of the temporary stay. The law places this burden of proof on the applicant.

what happened between 2012 to early part of 2017 till now... U.S Govt introduce new technology in deciding who enter their country, I will not go further but I know what I know.

She probably mistakenly selected approved instead of denied. She didn’t want to start telling you stories that she made a mistake. Maybe she needed your passport details to go back to your file since she had no way to trace you back she called you. To be honest though I don’t think the wedding anniversary thing for uncle is sufficient maybe you should add other plans to your itinerary. Infact saying you were going to spend time with your uncle and his family is more tenable.

lolzzzz if that's the case why collect the refusal paper?

Hello,
I paid for US visa March this year but changed my mind about applying cos I could not afford to leave my business. The business is too young and growing very fast and wont want to disappoint client in the name of traveling to the US. A friend told me the fee is for one year and after a year it will be useless. I have no reason traveling to US anytime soon and also do not want to 'dash' US my money. Please advice!

Unless your plan is to travel to U.S and stay illegal, you can always apply for U.S visa and travel for few days and return to your business.

There you go! Ghana and these african countries are a red flag at the embassy! They feel like you made these trips just to have a travel history to enhance your chance of getting a US visa!

What i think happened in your case! The VO bought your story and wanted to issue you the visa but was taking the final ‘go ahead’ from a superior or a fellow VO (All that typing might be a chat with another VO or a superior) then the person advised the VO not to issue it!

What you should do,reapply and if you don’t have stamps to Ghana and togo on your passport, don’t bother mentioning these 2 countries when the travel history question comes up again! Good luck!

Don't lead her astray or give her in correct advice, visiting or traveling to Togo or Ghana is not bad especially for someone with good travel history, I'm planning to do a West Africa tour by January ending, does that mean I won't be issue U.S visa? No I think the most important thing is having expansive travel history, mix your travel, a little of Europe, East Africa, Middle East, West Africa and Asia.

The system’. Hold on! Are you saying there’s a ‘thing’ that decides if you get the visa or not apart from the VO? Like they typed the OP’s profile into it and wait for the green light?

Yes, A Computer, a device that assist the consular officer in making the right decision.

Your transcript is not fully detailed! Are you comfortable sharing how much you earn on the internet? If no ignore this question! If yes,how much did you tell the VO you earn?

Also, the travel history! Did you mention the country(s) you’ve been? If yes,can you list them here?

She does not need to share those info, I believe her travel history is okay.

Hello everyone, here is how my interview went

Vo. good morning

Vo. How many kids

Me. 3

She just handover my passport and yellow paper saying sorry you are not qualify to travel.

Please what surprised me was that after I took my passport and the refusal letter from her, on my way going out of the America Lagos embassy , she was calling me back, I didnt notice I was the one she was calling, she sent security to call me back, when I went to her she took back my passport back from me and she started typing on her system for about 5 minutes, tell me please am sorry kindly wait there's an error, she continues typing still keep on telling me there is an error, later she just said am truly sorry kindly reapply, she handover back my passport and she. Called next. Please can someone tell me why this happened

The system gave you that visa but she override it after calling you back, try to re-apply as soon as possible and apart from visiting for just wedding include things like sight seeing and shopping for the New Year, you know things that will add money to the U.S Economy and also don't forget to tell them that you're the only one representing your family.

OP wants to visit an obscure, unremarkable landmark in the largest indoor mall in America as a primary reason for visiting the state and at the low tourist season.. Begs further questions in my opinion.
This is my opinion only and what makes more sense to me. When asked for itinerary, he could have mentioned plans to visit some of these destinations/attractions that MN is known for. It makes it more believeable to me.

Alternatively, visiting family and and wanting to visit Nickeloden universe in addition is more plausible. If you are a fan of Nickelodeon, and willing to fly thousands of miles to visit one of their theme parks in the US as a primary reason, the obvious choice is the NJ location. Its much larger, much better and overall airfare will be cheaper and more direct. For example, what would you think if a tourist wanted to visit Nigeria with the primary reason of visiting a Nigerian open air market, and the choice was Agbowo market opposite U.I. in Ibadan? Wouldnt that strike you as odd? Wouldnt you know that Ariaria or Balogun or Alaba or Onitsha main market would be more obvious choices, barring any other motives?

To be honest I aligned with your view not like @Wuki is wrong, the main issue here is that before late 2017, their reason for travel to U.S won't be an issue at all but the applicants did not help themselves by not doing proper research of where they want to visit and if the Nickelodeon park in NJ was chosen they can even include visiting New York City as part of their visit.
While @Wuki stand is that choice of place to visit shouldn't be a reason for denial but as at now it is, and it's unfortunate that applicant still use 2013-2017 tactics to apply for U.S visa.
As applicant we need to do better by working on your ''ties'' which overall will make you a better person.

Sorry bro... this is heartbreaking by just reading it.
Your ties from your transcript are each other, and you are all headed out. Maybe the VO saw the possibility of an Economic Migrant.
Apply separately as advised next time and hope for approval. Wife and Son Batch 1 and you Batch 2

My sincere apologies to your 4-Year-Old. Tell him everyone on this thread are giving him bear hugs.

You actually worth it but seems the VO is not in mood to issue the visa at that time.......

Give it time and apply alone!

Sorry about the rejection, next time let your wife apply with your baby so you can be their ''tie'' to Nigeria or travel together as family to another country since U.S trip did not work out, it will improve your family profile when next you want to apply for U.S Visa in the future.

Hello! So im planning on applying for the b1/b2 visa! Don’t have a date/month in mind for now and don’t know what city or state to visit! But i want to go to the most INTERESTING place where i can get atleast 50-60% of what America is all about!

Profile - Engaged, have a son,In my very early 30’s,i own a business and i can afford the vacation, traveled to Singapore few times for vacay! Travel history on old passport! I’ve a fresh passport now,i can go with both for the interview! I don’t have or know anyone in the US at the moment! Just doing this on my own!

My questions - Where should i visit? What documents will i need to upload prior to the interview while filling the DS160 form? What documents will i need to go to the embassy with? (My 2 passports and statement of acct will do?) Anyone have an idea on available dates for interview in lagos?

You guys should pls advice! Not one person! I need different perspective/opinion (Pls skip the part about US embassy not issuing Visas to Nigerians like that anymore,im aware! Pls advice on the above! Thanks alooooooooot!!!

You have a big chance of getting U.S Visa if you can truthfully fill your form and back it up during the interview, I'm interested keep me posted and you should consider New York, Chicago, Florida, Washington D.C and I will personally recommend California.

I traveled to the U.S on November 22nd and returned on November 30th

POE experience. My destination was New York.
Arrived at JFK. I traveled with British Airways with a night stopover in London just to stay in a hotel, eat nice food and continue my journey
The queue was a bit long but moved fast.
Questions asked- my destination, how long I would be staying and what I do.
My response- One night in New York and three nights in Florida. I didn't know they would ask me for an address in Florida. I had booked an Airbnb so the address was on my phone, so I had to show her my phone. For a moment i was like waoh, i just handed over my whole phone to a CBP officer, but well i didn't really care.

Asked when last i was in U.S and how long i stayed, I said 2017 and just for a day. Asked what i did for living i told her i was a lawyer, then asked what kind of law, i said "commercial law".

Didnt ask me further questions and stamped me in till May 2020 but i left after 8 days.

Note that: destination filled on my DS160 was DC i think, but i usually don't remember details filled on my DS160.

All the best to intending travelers.
Nice one... Enjoy your trip

Thanks so much. It's the same airport as shown in the picture.

Pls does it matter if I buy a one-way or return ticket? It's an immigrant visa. The return ticket is cheaper.

You don't need a visa but I believe you can get a cheaper fare to Atlanta with Emirates, Qatar and even BA.

Not correct if you are a Nigeria Passport holder, have a US visa and are headed to the the US on transit via one schengen airport only. You will only have problem if your transit is say in Paris and in Amsterdam also on one of the legs of the trip, that will be transiting two schengen countries, it won’t work to the best of my knowledge.

And fulfilling that obligation must it be at the date stated on the form? Can you do the business trip on a later date due to busy schedules ?

Not necessarily but you must use that visa for business first. (Conference,Seminar etc)

Yes it's B1/B2 but if you apply for Business visa you must fulfilled that obligation first before using the visa for tourism.

Hello house..

I have travelled and back.

POE experience. My destination was Maryland.
Arrived at IAD Airport. Washington Dulles
Queue was minimal as it was just our flight that landed at the time.
Questions asked- my destination, how long I would be staying, what I do as well. Asked if I had a ticket for my onward destination, I mentioned I was going to do a bit of sight seeing in Washington DC for about 2days and then purchase an onward ticket to my destination.
Wasn't up to 5mins, and I was stamped in for 6months.

Note that: destination filled on my DS160 was Indianapolis, but my family friends were not going to be around as at my time of visit, so I had to change destination and there was no issue with it.

Nice one... How was the trip generally?
