its strange that when femi kuti was called to perform at the opening event of the world cup, the only song he could come up with was 'bang bang bang' - we know that is his most popular song but it is clear that the occasion did not call for such lyrics - the occasion was a sporting event and had nothing to do with sex - he should have applied wisdom in choosing an appropriate song - shocked shocked huh

Lagos-based pastor, and chairman of the Fresh Democratic Party, Chris Okotie, has indicated that he will run for president in next year's general elections.

Mr Okotie, who has contested the seat twice, said the least the federal government can do to immortalize the sacrifices of the late Moshood Abiola is to enthrone true democracy in the country. He also claimed that the PDP-led federal government is a product of rigging, and could therefore not celebrate the heroes of democracy, who fought for free and fair elections.

The pastor, in a statement signed by his media aide, Ladi Ayodeji, decried the neglect of those who died protesting the cancellation of the June 12, 1993 elections, saying all efforts to ignore their achievement in giving birth to the 4th republic have not succeeded.

The spirit of June 12

"Instead, the spirit of June 12 continues to haunt us", he said. "The democracy martyrs of June 12, led by its flag bearer, MKO Abiola, who won what is still adjusted the best election ever organized in this country, would have died in vain if we fail to put in place viable mechanisms for free and fair elections in the country. One of these is electoral reform, and also transparency and good governance. We can't have true democracy if the peoples votes do not count; where selection instead of election is what produces the leaders."

As regards his political future, Mr. Okotie announced plans to address a world press conference on June 29, 2010 at his party's headquarters, where he will declare his intention to seek his party's nomination for the 2011 presidential election.

Mr. Okotie also called on Nigerians to support the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the World Cup holding in South Africa, promising to reform the sports sector if elected president in 2011. "May I, once again, plead with fellow Nigerians to come all out to support the players," he said. "They need our total, unwavering support, not criticism, at this crucial moment."

Governor of Bauchi State and the in-law of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Mallam Isa Yuguda has sacked his third wife, Mariya A. D. Ruafi, whom he married 10 years ago.

The circumstances surrounding the governor’s divorce mess were not clear, but sources revealed to Ureports, an on line news blog, that the first lady, Mariya, returned to Bauchi from a medical trip to Germany when Yuguda ordered her out of the house, giving her a deadline of two hours or police eviction.

According to the report, Governor Yuguda ordered her not to remove any property and also instructed the police to retrieve her vehicles and other gifts. The police have since carried out the governor’s orders.

However, they (Police) were unable to stop Mariya from taking along her three children. She managed to escape with them and her whereabouts has since remained unknown.

Unconfirmed reports alleged that she may have escaped overseas with her children.

Investigations revealed that the bickering started when on 5 May, 2010 President Umaru Yar’Adua died and was buried the following day in Katsina and Mariya, who was on a medical trip to Germany, was absent. Governor Yuguda was enraged by her absence, reports said.

The relationship of the Bauchi State governor and his wife had been frosty for two reasons. First, she was accused of leaking important information about the state to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed.

Second, Mariya reportedly congratulated the new Minister of the Abuja Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Bala Mohammed. Yuguda and Yayale do not enjoy a cordial relationship with Bala. The daughter of Senator A.D. Rufai, a second republic lawmaker, Mariya was previously married to Aliko Dangote but moved to Yuguda in 1999/2000 in a “family arrangement.”

Yuguda has three other wives. Aisha, Abiodun and Yar’Adua’s daughter. But a source close to Yuguda family said Mariya’s divorce may not be the last. Since her father is dead, the source said, Yuguda may soon divorce Yar’Adua’s daughter.

SportsWest Ham Chases Apam by shadrach77(op): 11:37pm On Jun 10, 2010
West Ham will have to pay £4million if they want to sign Nigerian defender Apam Onyekachi from Nice.

The 23-year-old has been at Nice since 2006 and has developed into perhaps one of the best defenders in the French league. Onyekachi is about to have knee surgery and will therefore miss out on the chance to play in the World Cup with Nigeria, for whom he has 14 caps. He enjoyed an impressive African Cup of Nations back in January and won an Olympic silver medal in 2008.

Onyekachi is regarded as a strong and physical player, who is rarely beaten in one-on-one situations.

West Ham have reportedly already offered £3million for the defender but have now been told that they must up their bid. Hammers' chiefs David Gold and David Sullivan have indicated that there will be an overhaul of West Ham's playing squad this summer.

why is it that most of them end up on the shelf? the answer is simple - they see themselves as demi-gods because of the law of the land which favours them - you see a lady who is nothing in Nigeria acting as if she is super-human just because she is in uk - they are so full of themselves - even the ugly ones - and they act as if they are doing men a favour by going out with a man - no morals, no respect, no intelligence - they have allowed the society to drain out every ounce of Nigerian culture in them and 9ja men who know their onions cannot stoop low to accept rubbish from women all in the name of wanting to be in a relationship - they would rather not date at all or date ladies from other countries - hence our ladies find themselves on the shelf lipsrsealed undecided undecided

SportsBrown Ideye Replaces John Mikel by shadrach77(op): 2:16pm On Jun 05, 2010
Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi has been ruled out of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with a knee injury.

Mikel joins fellow Chelsea stars Michael Essien and Michael Ballack in missing out through injury, while Didier Drogba is a major doubt.

The 23-year-old underwent minor knee surgery in May and feels he has not recovered sufficiently.

"We have dropped Mikel from the squad after he said he did not want to risk his career," said a Nigeria spokesman.

Nigeria will replace Obi Mikel with the uncapped Brown Ideye, a striker from French club Sochaux.

Mikel has been capped 30 times for his country and was the last player to join up with the rest of the squad at their training camp in Essex.

In South Africa, Mikel cut short his workout with the team on two consecutive days. He also missed the team's two build-up games against Saudi Arabia and Colombia.

On Friday he trained with the rest of the squad for the first time since they arrived at their World Cup base in Durban, but later announced he was not fit enough to play in South Africa.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside two-time world champions Argentina, former European Championship winners Greece and 2002 World Cup semi-finalists South Korea.

They play a final friendly against North Korea in Johannesburg on Sunday before starting their World Cup campaign against Argentina on 12 June.

Wife Battery: Deji may be deposed, faces criminal prosecution

Feelers from Akure the Ondo state capital indicate that the Deji of Akure, Oba Oluwadare Adeshina may soon face deposition and criminal charges for wife battery and attempted murder.

Pointblanknews.com learnt the police has taken statements from both the Deji and his battered wife while the council of chiefs has been deliberating over the disgraceful conduct of the monarch.

The Elemo of Akure, Chief Bolanle Adedipe, who confirmed this Friday said” “I can confirm to you that we have since been meeting over the issue. The process that would lead to his deposition is also on course. We will make our decision known to the general public very soon.

“What fair hearing is he expecting from us? we have established the fact that he was picked up from a gutter when he was fighting openly with his wife in the full glare of his subjects.

“We have also established the fact that his beads were picked from the gutter by the policemen who whisked him away from the scene after he had bathed his wife with acid. Such a king is a disgrace and he must go,” he said.

The monarch had attacked his wife, Bolanle in public, and bathing her with substance suspected to be diluted acid.

Ondo State police boss, Mr. Magaji Nasarawa, has visited the estranged wife of the Deji, Bolanle Adesina, on her hospital bed at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, while there is visible presence of policemen in the town.

South Africa Embassy queries NFF’s bogus list

South Africa Embassy officials in Nigeria are amazed by the number of passports sent to them by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for visas. The Embassy authorities have queried what over 200 people would be doing in South Africa as delegates from Nigeria’s FA, and have subsequently denied most of them entry visas to watch the World Cup.

Daily Sunsports check revealed that officials of the embassy were shocked that in addition to executive members of the NFF, Football Association bosses in the 36 states of the federation and Abuja were included in the list of delegates, and wondered if they were going for a jamboree or for a World Cup.

They wondered why different committees were set up by several people listed as members for the World Cup when they are not the ones hosting the Mundial.

Stakeholders had queried the rational behind taking the 36 FA chairmen from all the states in the federation and Abuja to South Africa, but the football house never defended its action.

Aggrieved members of the public had reasoned that the forthcoming elections into the executive board of the NFF was behind the decision to take all the FA chairmen to the World Cup as a way of luring them to do their bidding when the election holds.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Supporters Club did not have it easy with the South Africa Embassy officials, as they drastically cut the number of the members wishing to be part of the club at the Mundial.

Obas’ Council suspends Deji of Akure

The Ondo State Council of Obas yesterday announced the suspension of the Deji of Akure, Oba Oluwadare Adesina, following his widely reported street brawl with his estranged wife, Olori Bolanle. The Chairman of the council, Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi, the Olowo of Owo, who disclosed this in a statement in Akure after a meeting condemned Deji’s action. He said the decision to suspend Oba Adesina from the council was taken after examination of available evidence.

According to the Olowo, the Deji of Akure was suspended after the committee examined all available evidences and materials on the issue, including reports from newspapers, petitions written to the council, the press releases from the Deji and other independent investigations on the issue.
The council observed that the incident was not only an unfortunate one but also strange to the sacred and exalted royal stools in the state.
According to the statement: “The committee condemned in its entirety the attitude of the Deji and dissociates itself from the action.

“That the Deji of Akure is suspended in the interim from the council pending a fuller investigation into the matter and a final position of the state government on it.” Meanwhile, the state Police Command said it has begun a full scale investigation into the street fight. Besides, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Magaji Nasarawa, said he had already received interim report on the incident. The Police spokesperson, Alhaji Adeniran Aremu, said the CP set up a high powered investigation into the matter with a view to getting to the root of the matter.

Aremu said the case was purely a criminal case and not domestic affair as being insinuated in some quarters.
He stated that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), adding that the outcome of the investigation would be made known to the public as soon as it is concluded.
Aremu also disclosed that the command had uncovered a plot by some persons to foment trouble in the state capital.

He therefore warned those planning to cause a breach of public peace or protest in respect of the incident to refrain from doing so, stressing that anyone caught taking laws into his hands would be dealt with decisively.
The embattled Deji for the first time since the show of shame was snatched yesterday opened up on what led to the rift between him and his embattled wife, Bolanle.

He levelled grave accusation against his wife, even as he claimed that the street fight was a frame-up.
He accused his wife and the Prime Minister of Akure, High Chief Folorunsho Davies of being the masterminds .
He said on the fateful day he was alleged to have battered his wife, instructions were given to perform the traditional rites to formally remove her as an Olori (queen) and stop her from dressing in traditional attire of a king’s wife.

The monarch who put up the defence in a statement personally signed by him and made available to reporters in Akure, did not state whether he was at the scene of the incident. Oba Adesina said his estranged wife got annoyed when the traditional chiefs were trying to perform the traditional rites on her to strip her off her status.
The attempt to strip her of her status, the monarch said, did not go down well with Olori Bolanle who allegedly joined forces with her four brothers to vandalise the vehicle the palace chiefs rode to her residence.

The statement reads: “On Sunday 30th, of May, instructions were given to perform the traditional rites to formally remove her as Olori, and stop her from dressing like one. This annoyed her as she did not want to be stripped of her status. “She got angry and started breaking the car that conveyed the palace chiefs. Four of her brothers joined in the barbaric display and wanton destruction.”

Oba Adesina explained that the decision to strip her of Olori status became necessary based on her conduct
He accused his estranged wife of colluding with the Prime Minister of Akure, High Chief Folorunsho Davies to publish negative report about him in the media. He described the account which was published by his estranged wife as a figment of her “periodic hallucination.” However, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Ondo State chapter has condemned the comment credited to the monarch.

The Chairman of the council, Mr. Dele Atunbi advised the monarch not to drag journalists into the rift between him and his estranged wife, saying the allegation levelled against journalists by the monarch was unfounded and uncomplimentary. “It is wrong for Deji of Akure to drag journalists in Ondo state into the issue. members of the NUJ in Ondo state are journalists of high moral rectitude whose conscience cannot be bought as claimed by Deji,” he said. Meanwhile, the traditional kingmakers have, however, insisted that the Akure monarch’s action would be sanctioned.

However, Chief Davies who is also the Lisa of Akure Kingdom has denied the allegation levelled against him by the Deji. “All what he is saying is just to cover up his misdeeds. All what is saying is like the action of a drowning man looking for what to hang on to,” he noted.

Jonathan Invited to G8 Meeting in Canada
By Constance Ikokwu, 06.03.2010

In what could be viewed as further acceptance by the international community, President Goodluck Jonathan has been invited to the G8 meeting taking place in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada on June 25.
The gathering will bring together leaders from the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada, Russia and the European Union (EU).

The theme of the meeting is "Recovery and New Begi-nning".
President Jonathan is expected to participate along with some African heads of states at the "Africa Outreach."
Presidents of South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia and Senegal were invited as well as the Chairman of the African Union (AU) and President of Malawi Bingu wa Mutharika and Chairman of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) and Ethiopian President Meles Zenawi.
A range of issues including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be discussed by the attendees at the two-day event.
Canada is hosting the event because it currently holds the G8 presidency which rotates among the most advanced countries in the world.

The Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was quoted on the government website as saying that the country would use the 2010 G8 presidency to promote issues that concern all particularly maternal mortality and the health of children in the poorest regions of the world.
Harper argued that several thousands of deaths could be halted by simple healthcare solutions such as better nutrition and immunization.
Efforts by the United Nations (UN) to reduce maternal mortality by 75 per cent by 2015 as part of the MDGs may not be fulfilled, he said.

But Canada would push for actions that would make remarkable impact, he stated.
The G8 brings together the world's most advanced countries to brainstorm and take decisions on major global issues. It is an annual event that initially started as G6, later G7 and G8 when Russia joined the group in 1997.
There have been suggestions that the group be expanded to admit developing countries such as Brazil, India, China, Mexico and South Africa.

It is thought that the growing economies of these nations should earn them a seat in the gathering.
They have previously been invited to G8 meetings as guests.
But with developing countries pulling their weight, industrialised nations have noted that G20 groups of nations would eventually replace the G8 as the major forum for discussing world issues.
Late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua represented Nigeria at the G8 summit in Italy in 2009. Before then, Yar'Adua had lamented the exclusion of Nigeria from the G20 summit.

FamilyRevealed! Girls Smoke More Than Men - W.h.o Report by shadrach77(op): 8:51am On May 31, 2010
The 2010 World Tobacco Day (which is today) focuses on the need to ban all forms of promotion of tobacco even with a new direction to fight the recruitment of the womenfolk into smoking, writes SEMIU OKANLAWON

It may sound odd, but the World Health Organisation says more girls than boys smoke tobacco; giving new reasons why the anti-tobacco crusade must now address the womenfolk.

When on Friday, WHO called for a special protection of women and girls against tobacco, it was not as if the organisation had assumed the other members of the society needed not to be shielded from the harmful effects of what is perceived globally to be an addictive consumption.

It was because global researches have indicated a growing, worrisome trend in the habit of women and girls who take tobacco as a thing of glamour and status. WHO’s new direction of campaign is to press home the focus of this year’s World Tobacco Day.

WHO’s Director-General, Dr. Margaret Chan, said, “The trends in some countries are extremely worrisome,” adding, “Tobacco use is neither liberating nor glamorous. It is addictive and deadly.”

This 2010 campaign theme, “Gender and tobacco with an emphasis on marketing to women, focuses on the harmful effects of tobacco marketing towards women and girls. It also highlights the need for governments to ban all tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship and to eliminate tobacco smoke in all public and work places as provided in the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control,” according to the global health body.

Nigeria, where the campaign against smoking has been gaining ground through the efforts of the Environmental Rights Action, is ranked among countries which WHO Director-General said the trend is pretty worrisome.

Smoking may be one habit that is generally perceived to be rife among males, but a recent survey, according to WHO, shows that there is a growing rate of tobacco use amongst girls and women. Women and girls are said to represent 20 per cent global smoking population.

“In half of the 151 countries recently surveyed for trends in tobacco use among young people, approximately as many girls uses tobacco as boys. More girls use tobacco than boys in some of the countries, including Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Cook Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria and Uruguay.

“Women are a major target for the tobacco industry in its effort to recruit new users to replace those who will quit or die prematurely from tobacco-related diseases. The leading preventable cause of death, tobacco use kills more than five million people every year, about 1.5 million of whom are women,” says WHO on Friday.

And what is the nexus between tobacco and women? Or better still; what is the attraction? After strategic manners in which the anti-smoking campaigners across the world had tackled the recruitment of youths into smoking by tobacco manufacturers and marketers, there is said to be a new path manufacturers and marketers are following to force smoke down the throats of women. By linking smoking with beauty, young girls are easily fascinated and are consequently recruited into the habit.

Analysts are of the view that the same method employed in using the media to present slim girls as paragon of African beauty is being promoted to make young girls believe that their beauty is incomplete without tobacco addiction.

But it is not only those who engage in the practical habit of direct smoking that are considered to be smokers. Passive smokers abount through their inhaling of smokes in public places.

The inclusion of Nigeria amongst countries considered to be having a disturbing rate of smoking girls further reinforces the points being raised by Nigerian crusaders that the government needs to act fast before tobacco-related diseases add to its alleged unenviable record in health management.

Programme Manager of the Environmental Rights in Nigeria, an affiliate of the Friends of the Earth, Mr. Akinbode Oluwafemi, said the focus on the need to save women and girls from smoking, which is the theme of this year’s tobacco day, should compel some persons in high places to act fast.

“It will interest you that the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, is a woman. And we believe that where the interests of women are concerned, a woman in the status of the senator should use her position to ensure the welfare of her fellow womenfolk,” say Oluwafemi.

His call is on the strength of a bill which was said to have been presented to the Senate by a member, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora which, according to him, is yet to be passed into law.

Among other things, the bill seeks to ban smoking in public and end all forms of promotion of the product in the country.

Mamora, who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday, said there had been deliberate moves to scuttle the bill at the National Assembly, adding that some of his colleagues who swore to defend the wellbeing of Nigerians were engaging in acts that are inconsistent with their oath of office.

Mamora said, “No amount of propaganda; no amount of purported job creation by the British American Tobacco can justify the number of lives being destroyed through the use of tobacco. This is because certain incontrovertible evidence have been established linking tobacco use to various diseases.”

In a separate statement on the 2010 World Tobacco Day, Oluwafemi called for the passing into law of the bill as a sign of government’s readiness to recognise the global concern for the health of its citizenry.

He stated, “It is a fact that dangers are associated with smoking. The World Health Organisation estimated that 5.4 million people die every year due to tobacco-related diseases, with majority of these deaths happening in developing countries.

“Tobacco is the only consumer product that is guaranteed to kill half its consumers if used according to manufacturers’ intention. It contains more than 4,000 dangerous chemicals harmful to the body.

“It is also a fact that stringent measures aimed at reducing smoking in Europe and America have driven the tobacco industry to developing countries like Nigeria, where the industry continues to flout regulations, marketing to young and impressionable youths, and hooking them on smoking.”

Indeed, another recent survey, according to Oluwafemi, also shows that two persons die each day in Lagos hospitals as a result of tobacco-related ailments.

With the theme of this year’s event, many expect that the focus will now shift to demystifying those messages being sold to girls which make them embrace smoking as a way of upping their beauty profiles.

Perhaps, that will compel manufacturers and marketers to also review strategies. But then, the health of the citizenry is at the centre of it all.

Overwhelmed by his financial and social predicament, a 47-year-old welder decided to end it up in the Lagos lagoon on Wednesday.

He was, however, stopped as he attempted to leap and was handed over to the police.

The Lagos police spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, who paraded Fatai Kuti before newsmen at his Ikeja office, said that preliminary investigations revealed that the man had no record of mental illness, except that he was overwhelmed by the problems of this world, especially his inability to pay a N150,000 debt.

He said that police had begun investigating all his claims with a view to assisting him, adding that he would be put in the protective custody for now.

Mba commended the Nigerians who rescued him, advising that “we should always be our Brother’s keeper.”

Speaking with journalists, Kuti claimed he had three kids and a wife, both of them jobless.

He said the children took ill at will due to lack of care, while his landlord had asked him to quit his apartment for inability to pay his rent.

According to him, nobody is wiling to assist him in spite of repeated appeals.

“I woke up this morning in my home at No. 22, Itunkpate Street, Ikorodu. I left home without telling anybody where I was going to.

“When I got to Adeniji-Adelele, I dropped off from the vehicle and decided to end it up,” Kuti explained.

He appealed to his landlord to give him time to pay, even as he wept uncontrollably while presenting his story.

A pan- Northern pressure group, Northern Elders Assembly, has expressed disgust over attempts to circumvent the principle of zoning and power rotation entered into by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the ploy is unjustifiable and a contravention of the spirit of the arrangement for power to reside in Northern Nigeria for eight years.

The Assembly in a meeting in Abuja, last week, urged all Northerners, irrespective of party or political affiliations, to come together and present a united front in defending the right of the region to produce the next president of Nigeria in line with the arrangement already in place as the Southern part of the country had already had its turn.

In a communiqué, signed by a former minister during the regime of General Sani Abacha, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Dalhatu and released in Kano on Sunday, the Assembly said it was ironic that the North was being shortchanged by the people it was trying to assist given that, “Zoning and rotation formula was an innovation that originated from the North in order to make it possible for the minority elements, particularly, from the South to be able to access power at the highest level in the political equation in Nigeria.”

The meeting chaired by a First Republic Acting Prime Minister, Alhaji Inuwa Wada had in attendance Northern elders such as Alhaji Bello Kirfi, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, Hajiya Laila Dogon Yaro, Alhaji Umaru Baba, Senator Abubakar Mahdi, Alhaji Zangon Daura, among others.
The Assembly appealed to their respective state governors in the North “to demonstrate exemplary leadership in this crusade and replicate the selfless and heroic sacrifices made by some of their predecessors against Obasanjo’s attempt to elongate his tenure.”

The Assembly also objected to the way and manner the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor was forced to resign his position simply because he insisted on the adherence to the party’s zoning arrangement.
The Assembly equally frowned at the appointments made by President Goodluck Jonathan in the Ministry of Petroleum and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, saying they clearly amount to a violation of the Constitution he swore only recently to uphold.

In particular, they complained bitterly about the changes made in those outfits since the coming of the new administration, noting that, “out of the 20 officials of the ministry, 10 are from the South-South geo political zone, the area where the President comes from, with the whole of the North having only four, while the South-East and the South-West have two each.”
The group said it would, therefore, send a high-level protest delegation to the President of the Senate and would also meet with the Northern caucuses in the both chambers of National Assembly to make a case against the emergence of those negative tendencies which, the leaders said, were capable of affecting the political stability of the country.

The assembly also planned to set up three different delegations, one per geopolitical zone within the North, to visit state governors, traditional rulers, religious and cultural bodies to brief them on the recent developments.
Also disturbing to the Northern Elders Assembly is the “overwhelming and overbearing influence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo over President Goodluck Jonathan and his administration,” as the group argued that the presence of the former president would make it difficult for the administration to successfully fight corruption.

“It is clearly obvious that most Nigerians believe that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is himself, a strong suspect of corruption charges, which still remains to be investigated,” they conclud

RomanceI Gave Birth To A Baby For My Boss In My Hubby’s House by shadrach77(op): 9:43pm On May 20, 2010
Gave Birth To A Baby For My Boss In My Hubby’s House

With Auntie Agatha gataedo@yahoo.com, agatha.edo@gmail.com Tel: 08054500626

Dear Agatha,

Please, I am very desperate and need your help urgently. I am in the worst kind of situations and don’t know how to go about it without losing everything as well as the support of the one person who matters the most to me.

Sometime last year, March to be précised, I found myself in a very uncompromising situation with my boss. One thing led to another and we ended up making love right there in his office.

Before my husband-to-be came on the scene, my boss and I were having an affair but stopped when I met my fiancé. To be very honest with you Agatha, if not for the fact that my boss was married with two children, we would have got married. Our feelings for each other runs very deep, a fact a lot his friends and mine are very much aware of.

I decided to marry my fiancé when I realised age wasn’t on my side. Difficult as the decision was, we both agreed it was the best. The mistake I made was in not disengaging from my employment.

But even if I wanted to, I needed the money to care for my family. My father was doing his best but it wasn’t just enough as my mother is one of those women who is hopeless at doing anything. She is one of those women satisfied with being a complete housewife.

Being the first of six children, I had no choice but to work to support my father who happens to be passionate about his children. Therefore, the money I was paid was very important not just for me but my entire family.

Because of the difficulties at home, I had done one or two things I am not proud of. Then I didn’t care about what people thought of me. I felt they had no right to judge me since they weren’t going through the things I was experiencing at home.

My father could enforce discipline as he would have loved to because not only was he always busy trying to make ends meet, the money I was bringing was also helping to reduce pressure on him, hence I grew a little too wild for my own good.

However, all that changed when my boss came into my life. He ensured I lacked nothing, hence I had no excuse to date several men at a time. He also gave me a huge some to settle my family in a good place and to open a shop close to the house where we sell foodstuff. My immediate younger brother manages that place in addition to going to school.

And when my fiancé almost refused to marry me because of my past, it was him who also came to my rescue. He told my boyfriend that what he heard were lies and also denied my ever being his girlfriend. To my fiancé, he is a family friend.

It was this sense of deep appreciation for the man who has done so much for me that made me sleep with him for the last time, a week to my wedding.

That same day I slept with fiancé. I didn’t think anything of it when I discovered I was pregnant or delivered my baby.

I also didn’t notice the baby’s striking semblance to my boss until my mother called me aside to ask whose baby my son is. I was very angry with her that I tongue lashed her. She didn’t say anything but told me quietly to make sure I kept the baby away from my boss.

My baby was a year old by December. My boss and his family were away on holidays. He, however, came with his eldest son to see us recently to wish the baby a happy birthday. When his son saw my baby, he commented on the semblance of the baby with his father and himself. Indeed when I looked at all three, there was no doubting the fact.

My mother-in-law who was present, heard and observed the whole incident must have told my husband whose attitude has not only changed towards me but also avoids carrying the baby. And last week, my worst fear was confirmed when he told me we would all be going to the hospital for some tests but providence intervened as he was called to go on a training programme outside the country for a month. Since leaving two days ago, he hasn’t called me expect to inform me through his mother that he got there safely.

Agatha, please help me because I didn’t deliberately foist this baby on him. There was no way I would have taken such a risk, considering the kind of challenges I passed through to get to this stage with him.

What should I do? Tell him about what happened? Would he ever forgive me of lying to him about my relationship with my boss and would that not confirm I also lied about my past life?

Worried Wife.

Mo’Hits Records leading light and kokomaster, D’banj, has emerged the highest paid Nigerian artiste, Showbiz Trends can reveal.

•D’banj.

According to a reliable source close to an Ikeja-based events packaging firm that also handles artistes’ contracts, D’banj at present receives highest performance fees and features more in most high net worth shows in the land.

Showbiz Trends learnt that the Fall In Love crooner was paid close to N15million for three slots in the ongoing Star Trek, a cross-country concert organised by the brewing giant, Nigerian Breweries Plc.

We gathered that D’banj is being trailed on the rich list by award-winning twin pop group P-Square, who received around N12 million for three slots in the ongoing concert, followed by Wande Coal, whose performance fees for three cities show hovers around N11million.

The source revealed that D’banj was paid close to N10million for his brief performance at recently held ION International Film Festival in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and he has been scooping more shows which fetch him more dough to ascertain his status as one of the richest artistes in the country.

Meanwhile, D’Banj alongside compatriots P-Square have been signed to perform at the musical concert to celebrate the first year of telecommunications outfit, Vodafone’s operation in Ghana.

The concert will also feature other Ghanaian artistes like Ghana’s artiste of the year Sarkodie, with Eazzy and Ruff ‘n’ Smooth.

The venue of the concert is the International Conference Centre, Accra on 22 May, 2010.

PoliticsKaduna Muslims Vow To Frustrate New Governor by shadrach77(op): 4:04pm On May 19, 2010
Tension is mounting in Kaduna as some Muslim groups have threatened to resist any attempt to elevate the Deputy Governor, Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa to the status of governor as the incumbent, Namadi Sambo moves to Abuja as Vice President.

Vice President, Namadi Sambo
One of the reasons the Muslims don’t want a Christian governor in the state is the belief that Kaduna is a Muslim-dominated state and to have Yakowa, a Christian, as a governor will amount to forcing the Muslims to be subservient to a Christian governor.

Another reason, according to P.M.NEWS investigations, is that Kaduna serves as the historical centre of the north, which indirectly, represents the headquarters of the Muslims and so should not be given to a Christian to govern.

According to a source, “it will be unfair to have a Christian governor at the helm of fairs in a state dominated by Muslims.”

Despite the constitutional provision that Yakowa, a deputy governor, automatically becomes the governor, as Sambo becomes the vice president, the Muslims vowed to reject his elevation on the day he will be sworn-in.

However, P.M.NEWS learnt from the Muslims that they are happy Namadi Sambo has been chosen as vice president.

As a result, they appealed to PDP to reconsider their position as Kaduna is the historical centre of the north and a Muslim dominated state. They said that they would make the state ungovernable for Yakowa, should he be sworn-in as governor.

Meanwhile, the VP designate, Namadi Sambo at an interactive forum with both Muslims and Christians in the state, appealed to the Muslims in particular to accept Yakowa as their governor.

“My elevation to the status of VP and that of Yakowa to the Governor of the state is an act of God. So, I expect nobody to protest.”

He therefore urged everyone in the state to support Yakowa in order to continue to maintain peace which would move the state forward.

However, the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, Lawan Aminu who confirmed the threat told P.M.NEWS that the police is fully prepared to contain any attempt to disrupt the existing peace in the state.

According to him, anyone found trying to breach public peace no matter how highly placed will be dealt with.

He advised the people to go about their normal business and warned against making statements capable of inciting violence.

P.M.NEWS observed this morning a heavy presence of policemen in the city.

RomanceThe Psychology In Playing Hard-to-get by shadrach77(op): 12:39am On May 18, 2010
now here is my observation over a period of time - ladies who play hard-to-get to the extreme do so to cover up a deficiency in their character. Now here is the way it works, the lady who has a good character does not feel she has to play the hard-to-get game excessively because she knows her character is good enough to convince a man - she tries to be herself, afterall she has nothing to prove to anybody anyway - the morally bankrupt lady knows she lacks something therefore she tries to over-compensate for this deficiency by being excessively rude while playing the so called hard-to-get - this is a psychological ploy to give an impression that she is reserved and decent - nuff said wink wink
